Poor service, poor quality, poor prices - review is not based on the hot food, but the brunch /hot drinks. Generally not impressed, and the lounge didn't reflect the quality of the hotel. Matcha latte was not mixed well, the smoothies were not fresh, and the service was non-existent...

Cool, modern, relaxed bistro. I loved the sour dough bread and the service was generally pretty good although one waiter seemed pretty uninterested in his job. The machiato was not what I was expecting, being served more like an espresso. There is free car parking for guests and the decor is really classy.

You cannot book the Lounge but there was a reasonable amount of space. Outside was full, not surprising as the weather was nice. The menu was via a QR code and you order and pay using the website that comes up. Food and drinks both turned up in good time. I had a crispy duck salad that was very good and my friend a sandwich which was also good apparently. Service was good and friendly. A nice place for lunch.

Decided to call in to have a cocktail before dinner at a nearby restaurant. We found the seating configuration strange as it seemed to cater for large groups and not for couples. This meant that there were several six + seating areas with only two people sitting at them. As soon as we found a suitable table, we hadn’t even taken our coats off or sat down when a member of staff came over to ask what we’d like to drink. We asked her to come back in a few minutes when we’d had a chance to settle ourselves and look at the menu. She didn’t come near or by us again but we did see her chatting to another member of staff. After almost 15 minutes, I managed to catch someone’s eye but before we had a chance to say what we wanted, we were told how we could pay! We both had a glass of wine as, disappointingly, the only cocktails were gin based. We were even more disappointed when we said ‘cheers’ that our glasses made the dull thud of cheap glass and not crystal as one would expect in prestigious establishment and for the prices charged. The wine wasn’t that cold and we weren’t offered any nibbles either. The only saving grace of our brief 45 minutes in The Lounge was the guitarist playing in the background. Next time we’ll go to a local pub and get better service with a smile, cold wine more atmosphere.

I booked this to celebrate a birthday but we were ignored from start to finish. On booking I had made a dietary request but the restaurant failed to adhere to this request. so another wait whilst one of the sandwich selection was changed. The sandwich fillings were disappointing - cucumber, ham, cheese and salmon. Once the food was delivered to the table no member of staff came to check if all was ok and no offer was made of a top up of tea/coffee.After a considerable wait I went to the bar myself to order more hot drinks. But no drinks arrived, by then I was beyond disappointed. We asked a passing staff member what had happened and she advised our waitress had gone (gone where - home or for a break). It appears our table was waitress less. Our hot drinks then arrived and I explained that it was a birthday celebration and how disappointed we were. The staff member then brought out a mini chocolate mousse with a candle - too little and far too late.No manager apologised despite our letting the staff know we were dissatisfied. The location is good and the scones were lovely but we were let down by the service. I could not recommend as we felt very under valued as customers. The Lounge was not full so no excuse for the slow service.

The elder flower is very refreshing and is alcohol free. My friend enjoyed her Rose.We had the option of having our tea anytime we like so we opted for when we have the cakes. the Tier was beautifully presented and so was the contents. A few years ago you were allowed to ask for more sandwiches and cakes but this has been stooped which is a shame ( an extra £8) . We continued with the demolishing . Overall very enjoyable.

We love the value at £25 including a glass of bubbly or an elderflower pressie, refillable tea or coffee and an array of sandwiches, scone with jam and cream and 4 other small cakes. As I said last year, the service doesn't include pouring your tea for you as some other establishments do and staff were a little slow in asking if we needed top-ups, but having said that we only had to attract their attention and ask for more tea and it was delivered promptly. We like the conservatory atmosphere overlooking the river, and love that we're not rushed. All in all, a lovely afternoon, great food and great company. After my friends small and private civil marriage ceremony we decided to have lunch at the Runnymead Hotel. My first impression was impressive, the cleanliness and lovely drive into the premices was certainly welcoming which was followed by the large airy foyer with well spaced seating in and outside next to the Thames. There were 7 of us including my fiends 2 year old nephew who decided to have a nice afternoon nap on our sofa (lucky man)!! Now, the main menu isn't available late afternoon so you have to have the bar menu which mainly serves Sandwiches, wraps and salad with fries. At £16 a pop we decided on the shared Asian platter thinking it would be substantial enough to share, was I wrong, it was enough for 2 at a push prodominantly Thai prawn crackers . To be in the safe side we all ordered sandwiches after being told that afternoon tea would have to be booked in advance (understandable as they would need to place scones, pastries and cut the edges off their sandwiched before carefully placing each item strategically on a series of plates all on top of each other) !!2 x fries, 2 x spiced (not) cajun salmon wraps, 1 egg mayo, 1 cheese n pickle, 1 tuna sandwich and wrap, 5 x juices and 3 teas = £115.00 + gratitude... Wow expensive sandwiches I have to say ! Service was polite but nothing outstanding and found the porters extremely attached to their brollies, said they would be waiting for me once i was finished with it, and low ad behold they were (lol) !!Overall nice venue, decent food and service but food ... hmm overpriced ?? you decide !

OK, maybe I could have left the last piece?... no, that was never going to happen, it was too nice!Only minor criticism (and I'm being picky) - towards the end of tea, when there were only 2 or 3 couples left, the other tables hadn't been cleared so it did look a bit of a mess (not that we minded, we were very relaxed by this time!). We had a really fabulous tea, with all the tea and coffee we could drink. Food was lovely and we were asked if there was anything we didn't want. 3 of us don't like salmon so they replaced our salmon sandwiches with a mixture of the other flavours we had. Lovely little cakes and a scone with clotted cream and Jam completed our tea. The service was excellent. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the young lady that served us but she was really attentive - until she had to move to the other end of the conservatory to serve other guests and we had someone else take over our service. She was good too, but we had almost finished by the time our second server took over. Would thoroughly recommend afternoon tea at the Runnymede.

My only criticisms are that the sharing platters are not really large enough to share, well not for us anyway and the cushions on the sofas/chairs look like they need a good clean, as does the carpet. This seems to be the theme throughout this hotel for us though. Would visit again however as the food and service were really good.

Usual good light lunch: chicken and chorizo sandwich, honey glazed ham and mustard sandwich, skinny fries, lychee spritzer and bottle of Laverstock organic lager. Prompt and efficient service without any long delays. Good stuff.

We visited The Runneymede Hotel for Afternoon Tea and had a lovey experience. One of our party was a vegetarian and on arrival was asked her likes and dislikes and was provided with suitable sandwiches and was reassured that all of the desserts were vegetarian and did not contain geletine. We were asked whether we wanted our glass of Rose Champagne, which was included in the price at the beginning of our meal or later and have tea or coffee first. We had our Champagne at the beginning of our meal and enjoyed it with our sandwiches and opted to have tea and coffee with our sweet selection and were offered additional cups of tea and coffee . We could not manage to eat everything and were able to take some home with us in cute takeaway boxes We found the staff very friendly and were swiftly moved to a more suitable table when it was noticed that one of our party would have trouble eating from a low table. The river views are lovely . They occasionally offer a two for one offer which books up very quickly which offers amazing value .

Booked afternoon tea 2-for-1 offer for a friend and myself. Greeted on arrival by our waitress Martyna P, a delightful and cheerful soul who couldn't do enough for us. We had a window seat overlooking the river. The afternoon started with champagne; the sandwiches, scones and cakes were tasty and well-presented. At some point when booking I must have mentioned it was my friend's birthday as Martyna turned up with a small cake decorated with berries and a candle and sang Happy Birthday. Unable to eat everything we were even provided with boxes to take home the cakes we hadn't managed to finish. There could have been a wider selection of teas, but that is a very minor point. All in all a very pleasant, relaxed and happy afternoon.

There were nine of us to celebrate a Diamond Wedding. We had booked a table in The Lounge to have drinks before lunch. The small tables had been arranged and armchairs put in place right by the window, with its lovely view of the Thames, and everything was reserved and ready for us when we arrived.Nibbles were served with the drinks and the staff were kind and attentive. It made a very nice start to a special occasion.

Return visit to this wonderful hotel, this time for afternoon tea. My wife and I have enjoyed the river around the Runnymede area for over fifty years. Our tea was most enjoyable, the staff were most helpful, polite and friendly and the surroundings lovely even the rain outside could not put a damper on this treat.

Had a lunchtime snack from the bar in the foyer which although tasted ok certainly wasn't anything special especially considering the quality ( limp side salad) and price. 1 club sandwich (£13.50?!) + 2 wraps,+ 2 soft drinks + 1 beer =£50 !?!?!?Suffice to say I won't be returning.

I booked this as treat for myself and three friends. We have had afternoon tea at various places both here and abroad, but never at The Runnymead.First impression was not good; We were seated in what appeared to be the reception of the hotel and shown to a small and very low table with barely enough room for us four ladies. The place was crowded (it got worse) and noisy (it remained so). An extra small table was bought out on which our food was placed as our table was too small. The waitress was very conscientious and polite. The tea itself was very good with lots of choice and plenty of hot tea. We started with a glass of pink champagne and finished with a pimms. The tea was good overall and not too expensive, but not sure that I would recommend it for a special occasion.

The sun was unexpectedly shining so we jumped in the car and drove to the Runnymede for afternoon tea. Plenty of space to sit and watch the boats go by and good choice of cakes and tea.
