Reading the reviews, this restaurant is really like no others I have been to. While the food is well presented, salivating to look at (state of art) it is cooked to perfection and delicious; the staff have professional approach and are polite, unfortunately, this is where it ends. We have been visiting this restaurant for few years now (it has become our tradition) to celebrate 3 birthdays in a group. This October was no exception. We had an amazing time until we had a dispute with the management. What we have experienced has completely spoiled our mood and if I am honest, left a bitter aftertaste. Regretfully, that was our last visit, as I have never seen in any other place I have been to (I am a foodie and I have travelled the world) the treatment we have received here. There is no appreciation for loyal customers, lack of understanding, no room for negotiation, lack of empathy and if you have a problem, tough, it is your problem as the management team is happy to take your money (without prior notice - we have been overcharged by £230) and hide behind their policy. Be warned, if you are a group of more than 6 people, they require 48 hours notice in case of cancellation, otherwise you are going to be fully changed for the meal nobody is there to eat! We have been honest and provided the reasons for lack of attendance of 4 people with 3 hour prior notice, however they do not find (deeply disappointing as none of there could have been predicted or anticipated ) death in the family, being in A&E and sickness a valid reason for not having a meal. A real shame😳

10/2024 After many happy return to this place we were deeply disappointed by a very bad management call (so we were told) about charging us for guests within our group who could not make it. We gave restaurant notice 3hrs before our arrival that group is decreasing from 18 to 14. On arrival two tables (6+8) were waiting for us however we managed to have them joined. When bill appeared we got charged for 18 meals. We objected but got no collaboration on this one and ended up paying for additional 4 meals. Explanation and only argument was is that we costed them their sales as they had been expecting 18 of us (however table was promptly reduced and was set for 14 of us). Attitude in “negotiations” gutted us the most so we decided to say Fareweto this place! Be warned!! P.S. we then requested the food we paid for which they provided however not complete but that was not clear until we got home and were able to unpack. Very bad management decision! FYI reason of non attendance was 1 death, 1 A&E and one sickness(couple). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ One of the places that left me speechless! Everything from start is perfect: service, food quality, great menu, hygiene, DOG FRIENDLY and beautiful interior!

Stopped here for a drink here on our long walk home to Windsor from lunch. Nice drinks and comfy seats. Poor and slow service, staff just moaning about being understaffed. More worried about setting up for evening dinner than serving customers. Couldn't even see the positive side of a beautiful sunny autumn afternoon. Don't think we will be back.

Nice, shabby chic pub with excellent food. The starters (Venison Ragu and beetroot & whipped goats cheese tart) were lush and the quality of the roast meats (aged beef and venison) were top drawer. Really good service too. But misses out on a 5* experience as a) £45pp for a 2 course Sunday lunch! b) no parking - there is limited, metered road parking nearby can be full c) they wouldn’t serve food outside on a lovely sunny Sept day

Excellent service by the young guy on Friday 6th Sept. All staff were lovely. Great relaxed atmosphere 👌. Food was amazing 👏. A little more expensive than average but the quality and flavour was absolutely beautiful. Loved the complimentary bread with dip and the lush chocolate with nuts. No complaints. Compliments to the chef and staff 💯.

We went here to celebrate our silver wedding and couldn't have made a better choice. The food was, quite simply, amazing. The presentation was a treat for the eyes. I took my time to savour my venison. There was so much to explore on the plate. Grown-up Knickerbocker Glory was also a fabulous dessert choice. I must also mention our server, who was so friendly, welcoming, and extremely knowledgeable of the menu. We can't wait to go back!

Nice country pub and restaurant on edge of Windsor Great Park. Dog friendly in front area and a few seats outside. There are vegetarian options which were tasty and well presented however this is clearly a restaurant for meat eaters. Vegetarians beware that the decor and menu is all about hunting. Deer skins are draped over the back of dining chairs. Information about where the meat is sourced is displayed in empty shot gun cartridges in the centre of each table. The menu warns meat eaters to be careful of possible shot pellets in the meat. The restaurant proudly boasts that its venison is shot in the Great Park it is next to. Venison sausages and steaks on the menu. My friends had both and enjoyed it. Shortly after ordering, the friend who had opted for the venison steak was ceremoniously presented with a wooden box containing a selection of knives to cut it with. Overall a nice evening with friends but as a vegetarian I wouldn't return because of the theme.

This is a lovely pub and well worth the visit. If you have a dog an excellent choice as they are welcomed in the bar area. The staff are really friendly. This was our second visit and the food was as good as the first time we visited. They have a more traditional bar menu and at lunch time mix and match options with the a la carte. The a la carte is more interesting and what I have gone for both times. Loved the hot smoked trout, they were even able to tell me where and who caught it!

My husband and I dined here for our anniversary. I’ve visited the restaurant many times over the years as I used to live locally, but this was the first time under the current owners. First of all the good. The food was absolutely delicious. I simply cannot fault it. I especially loved the freshly baked cider bread and herb butter. Everything from the starter to our dessert (with a ‘happy anniversary’ scribed in chocolate’ was fantastic. Now the not so good. I booked around a month beforehand so the anticipation was high. When we arrived the young waiter informed us they’d just had lots of people arrive and there were no menus for us to look at. We sat and waited for over 15 minutes before we were given a drinks menu, and finally the main menu. The same waiter came to take our drinks order. My husband ordered a beer and then the waiter went off without asking me what I wanted. There was a further long delay before he returned with my husband’s beer when I asked if I could please also order a drink?! It was quite bizarre! I’ve never had this happen anywhere before! I asked if we could order our food, and he told me he was only taking drink orders and someone else would be along. We were there just over 40 minutes before the waitress - who was very nice, came and took our order. She also bought the drink I had ordered, a bottle of Prosecco. I feel customers are happy to wait for their food if given a drink and perhaps some bread quite quickly, but waiting for such a long time is pretty poor. As previously mentioned, the food was delicious, but the overall atmosphere was rather stark, and the service such that sadly we wont be returning.

Visited this pub with my daughter and grandchildren after a nice walk in Virginia Water and thought we would stop here for a drink and a selection of light nibbles Unfortunately the hot wings we ordered had a very 'vinegary' taste to the sauce that came with it. I expected the sauce to be hot, fiery and spicy but on this occasion it was not as all I could mainly taste was vinegar and no spice, not good when you have ordered 'hot wings'! We mentioned this to the waitress who's immediate response was that other people found the hot wings to be good and that they have people ordering it as a takeaway! What planet is she on? As a paying customer, I expected a better response to an issue that I brought up and not to be confronted with such a rude response. An immediate apology and an offer of a refund would have been nice and acceptable. Instead we were left waiting for approximate 15mins and my daughter had to go inside to find out what was going on. She was again told by the rude waitress that there was nothing wrong with the sauce and was still bickering with her. In the end she gave my daughter the refund. Would we go back? No, certainly not after this rude experience, there are other pubs that I would rather spend my money at.

Quaint English pub! We went on a weekday afternoon so it was empty. The food was good except the fish and chips. The batter was too thick and stodgy. A minuscule portion of mushy peas, equivalent to the tartare sauce accompanied the fish. The chips were the saving grace and were excellent!

I can't fault the food, service or atmosphere - it's all great. I'm giving it three stars because I asked for gin & tonic, glass of white wine and two nibble dishes and total was £45! £15 for a G&T is just madness for the location, it's only £10 in my local Heston-owned 1* rated restaurant in Berkshire. A famous London gin-bar has G&T's going between £13-£16 so The Bailiwick is clearly overcharging here.

The Bailiwick has been recommended by a friend, I had to find a decent eatery to celebrate my 50’s birthday. And it didn’t disappoint. We spent a lazy Sunday afternoon at The Bailiwick after a walk in the park. The pub has a nice cosy atmosphere, and is dog friendly (we would have bought the dog if we had known). For an unassuming looking pub from the outside, the food and service were all excellent. Sunday lunch was plentiful and all cooked well, with solid flavours. A touch pricey, but to be expected in this area, and with the quality of food. We’ll definitely be back with other friends to really top out the experience.

Lovely place but disappointed with the service. We came for drinks only as we like to check the places before visiting for the meal. Bar was empty and despite there being plenty of cosy tables few not set for dinning the barman said we can only sit at the bar if we are only for drinks. We stayed for an hour and all bar tables remained empty the whole time. Instead of having a comfy time and staying long we decided to leave after finishing drinks and will not be coming back any time soon… i would not recommend based on the poor service!!!

Wine prices are a bit too high for what you are ordering. Beer costs are same as most of the bars in that area. Coffee is really good to. Service is 100%. You could not get better. In the last two years the Bailiwick has become my #TheLloydies Gastro Pub Dining Experience winner and it’s not hard to see why. This firstly has been due to the amazing food created by chef / owner Steven. Then you have top pastry chef / owner Ami with her excellent array of delicious desserts. You also receive the friendliest of service from Liz and her young team. I have to say that after our latest visit it would be very hard for anyone to stop them making it three in a row. I say this because on saturday evening we enjoyed the most amazing Game Tasting Menu. The evening started with the usual friendly welcome from Liz and the team before enjoying a drink at the bar. My wife loved the Clarified Milk Punch while I went for the new spanish Cruzcampo lager now on sale at the pub. We were then escorted to our table and once comfortable we were shown the evening’s Tasting Menu using all the amazing local produce from the Windsor Great Park. There was also the option of a wine pairing so we decided to opt for this as well. The first course was Tea and Snacks featuring a Bone Broth , Rabbit Croquettes with Bacon-naise. The broth was full of flavour and the croquettes were heaven. We enjoyed this along with Bread and homemade Sage and Onion Butter. This was followed by the Game Terrine with pickled heritage carrots and hedgerow ketchup. I have to say this was one of the best terrines I’ve eaten in a very long while. Next to come was the Venison Doughnut with “chilli con carne” , puffed rice and sour cream. This was quite simply stunning. Then things got even better with the next course of Hare Royale Tortellini with lyonnaise onions and sauce soubise that was incredible. We now moved on to the main course which was worthy of being the main dish on any menu. The Stuffed Ballotine of Partridge with truffle gratan , chanterelles , burnt young leek and sauce albufera that was just sublime. Now it was time for Ami and she started with a fabulous pre dessert of Apple Sorbet with sorrel. For dessert she offered us the chance to choose from any of the desserts on all the menus. My wife chose the ‘After Eight’ a dark chocolate delice , peppermint , cocoa nib and mint ice cream. For myself I had to choose the evenings special dessert. The Apple Crumble topped with caramel and served with ice cream and cream. This was easily the best crumble I’ve enjoyed for many years so once again thank you Ami. We finished with a coffee and petit fours to bring to an end a truly amazing dining experience. The food was absolutely incredible , the desserts were delicious , the service was very friendly from all the team. This place really is a must visit and I can’t recommend the Bailiwick Pub highly enough. This restaurant has the dishonour of serving me the worst steak I ever ate in my life. It was served grey, cold, chewy and full of gristle. When the waiter saw I was struggling he brought me a knife that he presented me in a box. It made me chuckle as a chainsaw may have been better offered up. I think even a rabid dog may have passed by this piece of horse meat. I'm not a complainer in a restaurant, so I ate it as I was starving, paid and left. Nice atmosphere and good service. The food was good but expensive. The desserts particilarly were expensive. We only had a dessert.

A truly wonderful dining experience, in a cosy, warming environment on the periphery of Virginia Water park. The food was impeccable, pure talent from the new chef team, who utilise local food to create beautifully designed and absolutely delicious dishes. One to watch, we will be back again for sure!

I always enjoy a lunch full of indulgence when I come here. From the drinks, to the food, to the service, you just cannot fault it. It's high end produce, food and service in a quintessentially British, setting. This place is a must for anyone and I'm already dreaming about our return visit. If you love a sensational roast dinner, with great drinks and superior service, then this place has to be on your list!

Overall very nice, slightly over priced and not impressed you only get a small portion of gravy between two people then £4.50 charge for a refill.

Fantastic food and great service. Attentive without being too intrusive on your evening. The pig trotter ballontine and the wild deer mains were both delicious as were the whole groups meals. Made the celebration of our friends 60th all that more special. The explanation of the food was detailed and helpful to understand the various taste sensations. I am sure we will try this place again next time we stay in Windsor. Yes parking is an issue due to its location but get a taxi or Uber, it’s worth the extra to experience the food

Husband and I had a 7pm dinner reservation on 9/7/23. We arrived in plenty of time but there was absolutely no parking. I called the restaurant and spoke to the female manageress and asked where we should park as the spaces on the road had all gone and the car park is now 'members only'. She said to park on the double yellow lines. I refused to do so - double yellow lines are there for a reason! After driving around for 10 minutes it was now our reservation time. Husband pulled up near the restaurant in the middle of the road whilst I went into speak to the female manageress. I said we are having difficulty finding somewhere to park. She said that it wasn't their fault that the council had changed the dangerous parking on the road and the car park and that the chef was dealing with the parking. A) the parking on the road was never dangerous - I've lived in this area over 24 years and it has never been an issue. B) the council don't own the car park, it is Crown Estates. I explained that I was not prepared to park an expensive Porsche on double yellow lines and that we would have to cancel our reservation for dinner. The rude manageress then states that they have a strict 'No-show' policy. I said that I was not a 'no show' as I was physically here and had kept the reservation, and that I would happily come in for dinner if there was parking. On that she turned her back on me and walked off. As she did this I said that she had better not charge my husbands credit card for a no show as we had turned up. She carried on walking off and didn't respond - how rude. I left. Such a shame as I was really looking forward to my night out. The food is never good here, it is always brilliant. But I won't be returning, I don't expect rude staff. Definition of a no show - a person who has made a reservation, booking, or appointment but neither keeps nor cancels it. I had kept the appointment and had cancelled it physically in person! Suggestion for the restaurant, get the parking sorted. Maybe Crown Estates will give you some temporary passes or arrange with a local taxi firm discounted rates to your restaurant, actually put on your website that parking is probably going to be an issue and suggest getting a taxi!

The food was excellent but the service was a bit odd! The service seems to be about the process, who does what and the customer is very much a secondary consideration. If anyone from the pub reads this, the blue bits of paper need way...

Amazing food and service. This restaurant is located not far from the saville garden (1 min drive?) there are paying parking (£4 for 2 hours) available just outside of the restaurant. We went on a Saturday in summer and just walked in with good seating available. Food recommendation: Poutine (amazing jalapeño with fries, never had this in elsewhere before!) and dessert please go for the banana one (called “grown-up” something) it’s soooo delicious!

A person and dog friendly pub. Was a bank holiday weekend and we booked. There is a dog treat vending machine inside there, first one I have ever seen. Great place to go if you are visiting the park, which has some great walks. 👍

The food is really good but it really isn't child friendly which is a surprise given the location. Ordered a kids burger and the adult one was brought out with all trimmings kids hate - just to be told I wasn't clear on my order. Customer isn't always right I guess. In summary great food bit pretentious

What was meant to be a quick lunch stop during a walk in Windsor Great Park turned out to be a very memorable culinary experience. The food was amazing. I highly recommend the torched mackerel. The service was impeccable. The outdoor seating in the sun made it all perfect.

An outstanding Sunday roast. We had the Beef and Venison, both the meats were wonderfully cooked with the beef one of the best "slabs" of roast meat I've had. A fantastic combination of juicy and pink as well as slow-cooked crunchy delight on the edges of the meat. Roasties were excellent as was the Yorkshire Pudding. Only downside? We'd ordered a couple of (good) starters so couldn't finish the roast as was just too much food! Service was really solid as well, overall really happy, thanks folks!

Beautifully situated next to Windsor Great Park, The a La carte menu is something for a special occasion. We had a walk and the bar menu was just what we needed. I had the burger which was just excellent. The chips with a truffle and Parmesan sauce were delicious and crispy. You could go there and just have a drink. Parking is difficult. We approached from the Great Park which is a great way.

Poor, nothing more than average. Visited midweek, and impressed with both the reasonably priced set lunch menu and the accompanying service. Living locally, decided to visit on a Sunday, which was a complete contrast to our midweek experience. Portions was small, namely, the scallop starter and roast pork main. However, what was most disappointing is that both the pork and beef roast (albeit beef reasonably sized) was cold. Convinced the Yorkshire puddings are merely placed on plates by FoH staff without being reheated prior to being served. Appreciate commercial kitchens can be short of room at times, particularly on a Sunday- however, this is not an excuse for cold food, especially considering the presence of large Rational oven in the kitchen. Both bar staff were remarkably hospitable and leaps and bounds better than their esteemed colleagues in the kitchen.
