Booked for 12.30 Sunday 3 November lunch for four of us. The restaurant was very quiet to start with. We sat down at 12.30 and finally got our starters at 1.45. Main course came out at 2.15. Service was slow and we ended up not having a sweet or coffee as a large party of 20+ arrived for a baby shower. The beef was inedible and so we left it. Really poor customer service, no follow up on drinks and the staff just kept walking away. £120 and two and a half hours. Really disappointing service.

Horrible service made us wait an hour or more with just some water. The food arrived but it was undercooked and tasteless. We had to return everything. Utterly disappointing after the spa.

My friends and I had a terrible experience here for lunch. We waited almost an hour, with no interim updates on why food was taking so long, only to receive completely inedible meals. The pasta served was not spaghetti as the menu stated and was so undercooked and so tasteless, it was shocking to experience. Another dish had chewy, undercooked fish served with veggies doused in some oil to compensate for them also being tasteless. Upon us complaining, the server took away the dishes, and then proceeded to ignore us entirely. He did ask if we wanted anything else from the menu and we made it clear that we were looking to leave ASAP. It is only when we stood up to leave the premises that he followed us with a bill for the few items (water, a starter, and a side). We received no attention or consideration from whoever the server claimed to have reported our complaint to. Would not recommend in the slightest.

Eaten here several times and had to comment as it has been consistently good. The staff are excellent and attentive, the Sunday lunch was great, roast potatoes almost as good as mine 😉 which is unusual for catering for numbers. Afternoon tea for 8 in fantastic surroundings. The sandwiches, cakes, and scones tasted very nice and fresh. Those with dietary requirements were well catered for. Dylan our waiter went over and above to make sure we were well looked after. It was never too much trouble to keep us topped up with tea and discreetly checking that everything was okay - despite from what I could see, being the only member of waiting staff also attending to requests of coffee and drinks from the bar for other guests. Cool, calm and never looking flustered. Everyone in our party agreed that we would definitely visit Langtons again!

It's our golden wedding anninversary in May, so last August I booked Langton's private dining room for a family celebratory dinner. As our anniversary is fast approaching, I phoned and emailed them several times during the past week but not once did anyone call me back. I finally received an email today informing me that another event had been booked on that night and that they would have to cancel my reservation. I now have just a couple of weeks to find another venue. I think it's disgraceful to treat customers this way and what should be a joyous occasion has now been spoilt. Needless to say, we won't be dining at Langton's again.

I did not realise that this place was part of a retirement village when we booked this, although this did not necessarily detract from the experience. The Menu is not extensive, just a small number of dishes. We came on Easter Monday, so were hoping to get some lamb, only to be advised right from the start, that there would be no lamb available today. So it started with a disappointment. The food took rather long to come out, but when it came it was good, perhaps not excellent, but good. The service on the other hand was excellent, no fault there. Overall experience, neither here nor there.

I had a cream tea as part of a group of 6. Good points: easy to find. Parking was not a problem. Food was pleasant. Teas were nice to drink. MIXED: One of the cups was dirty. Staff spotted the dirty cup and replaced it, however, with a mismatched cup rather than a new cup and saucer. Poor attention to detail. POOR: Two of the party choose the same tea and were brought a pot to share. No in itself a problem as although their pot would finish before the others a new pot could be brought when the staff checked on how the meal was progressing. Except no-one asked us how we were enjoying the tea and whether we wished for more tea. It's the only time I have not been asked if I wanted more sandwiches or tea. We had 2 vegetarians booked and two standard. We were given 1 vegetarian and 3 standard. We were able to get this fixed but it was indicative of poor attention to detail and attention to customers. At the start of the meal, we were asked if we'd like to start with some water. As we walked out we were jumped on and asked to pay for the water. I've no objection to paying for water but it having booked 6 teas and paid in advance it would have been nice if we'd been told the water was extra. On summary, not a disaster, food and drink was ok but service was indifferent and non-existent after food was brought to the table. It just didn't feel like a special occasion and certainly not to be repeated, there are many better locations.

I booked an afternoon tea for my mum as a birthday treat at Langton’s. The place is stunning and the views are incredible. We struggled to find a place to park but eventually found somewhere, we were a couple minutes early but got seated straight away. However, it took about 10 minutes for someone to come over and offer us tea. The tea and the food arrived soon after that - I booked about a month in advance and requested vegetarian sandwiches, but when the food arrived it contained salmon and cream cheese, it was rectified quickly. This was as far as the service went. No one came over to check if we would like any drinks or a tea refill (we only got about a cup and a half of tea each from the pot). After finishing our tea and food we put our napkins on the table to signal we were finished and hoped someone would come over to check if everything was okay and see if we needed anything else. After being sat for a further 30 minutes with no service, I got up to find someone and ask for the bill, which took another 10 minutes to arrive. I’m unsure if we were unlucky and came on a day they were short staffed as the tables that were vacated still had glasses and cutlery on them waiting to be cleared the whole time we were sat there. There were other groups dining and it seemed they had no issues with staff coming over to check if they were okay or to offer anything further - perhaps because they were spending more money? The week before my reservation, I had to confirm our attendance and pay a deposit and then confirm my reservation again a few days later - the service received is no reflection of this. To summarise, lovely food/grounds but poor service. I’ll be choosing a different location next time.

Afternoon teas need a few basics to be good, it's certainly not rocket science. The important elements for me are plenty of tea, a good choice of teas, tasty sandwiches, a good scone served warm and some delicious cakes. It's always nice to be offered extra sandwiches and it's an absolute must to be kept refilled on the tea front. The afternoon tea at Langtons missed the mark. No offer of extra sandwiches, which to be honest were quite average, we had to ask for tea to be replenished, the cakes were decidedly average, they definitely were not homemade(tiny flat dry fruit cake, macaron, soggy clementine tart and a chocolate mini roll/yule log) there was also a tasteless posset of indeterminate flavour(maybe lemon) on the positive side the scones were absolutely delicious, the waiters were both very friendly and the surroundings were beautiful.

Hi. Stunning grounds. My mother and I wanted to drop in for coffee/lunch and check out the menu for lunch 18 December. And also ask some questions about the development. The signage clearly states open to the public. Yet the concierge was unnecessarily intimidating, reminding this was a private estate. So is Canary Wharf!!! And insisted on seeing if we had reservations. At 2 pm on Monday guests should be able to drop in, without ridiculous inquisition. Really off putting and I supect the same has happened with other potential guests. I quizzed him as to if we could see the Langton before making a reservation. And he reluctantly gave us permission to drive up to the venue but insisted we come straight back. On reflection utterly rude. By the time I drove up, my mother no longer wanted to dine. Can someone have a word with the chap upfront. He is in effect the establishments first impression.

Afternoon tea booked for 4 at 13:45. We sat down in the restaurant and we received friendly greeting by the waitress. Would you like water for the table ? “Tap water” no offer of bottled water still or sparkling.. when booking I advised of a pistachio & cashew allergy the waitress confirmed this with us when we sat down and we let the waitress know we have epi-pens on us. Afternoon tea arrived and all looked well until we realised we have a pistachio macaroon right in the middle of everything. We confirmed with the chef that this was a pistachio macaroon so I then asked for the manager. The waitress who had served us from the start came over / manager??? And she apologised and offered to get us compensation ?? I have no clue why compensation was mentioned at all. then went into the kitchen. She came back out and proceeded to tell us the macaroon was almond based and it’s a grey area.. A GREY AREA !!! YOU SERVED PISTACHIO UP TO SOMEONE WHO HAS AN ALLERGY SPECIFICALLY TO PISTACHIO.. nothing grey about that at all just incompetent staff who have no idea how serious this could have been had we not noticed and investigated. There attitude towards this and us in general was nothing short of embarrassing. We paid for our drinks and left very unhappy with the service and lack of attention towards this matter. Grey area ?? Two weeks in advance, we excitedly reserved an afternoon tea experience through the enticing promotion we spotted on "Facebook." This offer included unlimited prosecco, setting the stage for a delightful outing. Our anticipation was palpable as we arrived at the venue, but unfortunately, our experience took a disheartening turn. Upon arrival, the reception provided only partial directions regarding the location of our booked afternoon tea. However, our hopes were quickly dashed as our initial interactions unfolded. The staff member managing the check-in process guided us to a seating area and presented us with a Sunday menu, a stark contrast to what we had pre-booked – the afternoon tea experience. Our attempt to clarify this discrepancy was met with a suggestion to change tables, as the initial one designated for us apparently suited the Sunday Roast crowd. Adding to our dismay, as we settled in, it became apparent that the tablecloth and serviettes were noticeably dirty, marred by large gravy stains. This further underscored the lack of attention to detail and cleanliness. Despite relocating, our situation remained unclear. Another staff member, seemingly uncertain about their role within the establishment, informed us that no reservation had been made for the afternoon tea we had booked. This response left us perplexed and frustrated. Our attempts to rectify the situation were met with an astonishing lack of professionalism and empathy. Our complaint about the inconvenient £20 taxi fare we had incurred fell on deaf ears, met only with rudeness and indifference from the waiter. The staff member made no effort to investigate or provide a suitable resolution for the predicament. Rather, they nonchalantly dismissed the issue, suggesting that such occurrences were simply a part of the process. Faced with limited options, we reluctantly chose to settle for the afternoon lunch at the hotel. This decision required us to relocate our seating for the sixth time, highlighting the disarray in the service we had encountered. The overall experience felt disjointed, exacerbating our disappointment. Adding insult to injury, the staff offered us a small drink, despite our earlier expectation of enjoying the unlimited prosecco that was an integral part of our pre-booked arrangement. The lack of concern exhibited by the staff members in addressing the chaotic situation was glaring, leaving us feeling like mere spectators in a disorganized circus. On our departure, the waiter made a passing comment that next time we should ensure to double-check the accuracy of our booking details. This remark, however, seemed misplaced, as we had directly contacted Langton's at Cooper's Hill to make the reservation, ensuring accuracy on our part. In conclusion, our much-anticipated afternoon tea with unlimited prosecco turned into an exasperating ordeal marked by confused service, lack of accountability, and a blatant disregard for our pre-arranged reservation. The experience fell far short of our expectations, tarnishing what should have been a memorable outing. The state of the tablecloth and serviettes, marred by unsightly gravy stains, further highlighted the lack of attention to cleanliness and detail, compounding our disappointment.

It’s very difficult to find. I would have expected there to be detailed instructions about this in their confirmation email. Finding the overflow car park was impossible so I parked in a residents’ area. Something I would prefer not to do. Quite a few people had just parked in non designated places so I’m obviously not the only one who had trouble. This seems to be the kind of place for people who want to go somewhere that looks good but don’t really care about what they eat. Very nice dining area and good staff. Because of the time of year, we had to have the ‘festive’ menu. I had crispy Camembert with a nice little salad. My main course of turkey with all the trimmings was well presented but served on a cold plate so it was luke warm at best and the gravy was congealed by the end. The turkey was from a preformed breast roll, two small slices. It was £28 for 2 courses and £32 for 3, not extravagant but overpriced for what it was. The person who collected our plates seemed to think the fact that they were empty was a good sign. I was just hungry and did not want to wait for it to be put in a microwave.

I booked a table for five of us to have a Boxing Day lunch at 1.45pm. On arrival, I was very surprised to learn that this was to be a buffet-style meal, as at no time were we informed of this & the menu card also made no mention of it. I felt the cost of £35 a head to be rather over-priced & because of Covid I thought buffet-style meals had been discouraged. Being the last sitting of the day for lunch, the "hot" dishes were of course luke-warm. The cold option on offer was limited as some dishes had not been replaced so late in the day. The advertised turkey & cranberry pie had no cranberries in it, & the so-called bubble & squeak was mixed potato & carrot, alongside which were a whole sprouts & kale mixture. .....only the whole carrots & parsnips were acceptable. The advertised sherry trifle also appeared to contain no hint of sherry. Despite a very jolly French waiter bringing our water & wine, I felt very let down by Langton's considering the excellent reviews by other diners. I'm posting this review on here after Langton's failure to respond to my personal email.

Been here several times and I don't even live close! Every time I leave with a full tummy and a smile on my face. The food here is incredible and there is so much to choose from. Such good value for money and never disappoints. If you love classic food with a modern twist and good service then this is the place for you. Every portion is prepared with great care and seasoned well as expected from a good restaurant. You are shown to your table and offered drinks and if you haven’t been before they explain the menu to you. The service is friendly and uncomplicated. The main course was exquisite and the dessert to die for. We will definitely be back.

Delicious meal here with friends. I recommend the fish and chips. Quite possibly THE best chips any of us have ever had. Beautiful location too and I hadn't realised there's a pool and spa. Will definitely book a spa day there soon. Well done Langtons!

We came to Langton's for a festive afternoon tea just before Christmas and we were so impressed! The staff were very friendly and attentive (one of them even came to tell us when her shift had ended and who would be looking after us from that point on) and the food was incredible. We were well and truly stuffed and couldn't believe how much food there was. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and it was a truly luxurious experience.

As always, the food part of lunch at the Estate Grill was superb. However the service was absolutely shocking and let down the whole experience. On arrival, there weren’t enough menus for our party and no children’s menu was provided for my son. I resorted to using the online version of the children’s menu, which later transpired to be out of date and what my son wanted to order wasn’t available. We ordered bread for the table and crudités for my son which then arrived with the main meal. Not ideal. I can’t though fault the food at all - delicious as always. On finishing our meal, we then had to wait nearly an hour for the table to be cleared. We had asked for desert menus and when these hadn’t arrived after 30 minutes, I went to request them and for our table to be cleared (we were outside so were starting to be bothered by flies and wasps on the dirty plates). When we arrived, the table next to us was being used by a wedding party for drinks. They left shortly after we arrived and the table remained uncleared the entire time we were there. We were celebrating a birthday, indicated on the booking, and no acknowledgement was made of this. It honestly feels like every time we come to Great Fosters now, there is a problem. It’s really quite embarrassing for the hotel, which used to be spectacular and which we have been visiting (including hosting our wedding reception) for almost 20 years. The new owners need to have a rethink of their service model because what we experienced today was not a premium level of service and we will seriously think twice about booking again.
