The best restaurants serving British food in South East

I was on a drinking holiday. The beer was good, the staff were friendly and the background music meant there was a comfortable feeling.

Firstly, the security outside of the pub told my friend she wouldn’t need ID to enter, after asking the rest of our group for ID, and then proceeded to touch her around the waist inappropriately. Secondly, we noticed a racist sign on the wall, my friend alerted the bartender who was extremely rude and gaslit us saying it’s been there ages so it’s not racist, attached is the photo.

Grandson's birthday lunch. Food was excellent but the service was brilliant Rob was friendly, fun and very helpful. Maria always makes us welcome and has a smile and a chat with us every time we visit.

Excellent food , reasonnably priced and super friendly service. Also have bands on sometimes at the weekend. Good for families or a night out with friends

We visited today for a Roast as a treat for my birthday. The food was excellent, big portions and served in a timely manner. Pudding was lovely and fresh as well. The staff were very friendly but do have to say we had to keep asking for drinks, but this would certainly not stop us from returning. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

Last night of our visit to the UK and our friends suggested we go here ( their own favourite ) before we see them again in December. We can easily understand why it's their favourite. From the moment we entered, the place, the atmosphere, the menu, the service, the wine, and, finally, the food were all absolutely superb. It's not often that we miss British pubs and their food offerings, but we'll miss everything about The Highwayman until we're able to to go again. Huge Thanks from us to everyone involved with The Highwayman for a wonderful evening.

Beautiful views, nice and quiet location, friendly and helpful staff and the food is great value for money

For several months now, the ladies toilets here have been an embarrassing disgrace. One or other of the two cubicles has been repeatedly out of use. The left hand one has had a broken lock for weeks, along with a damaged toilet paper holder. On my last visit, the seat was inadequately fixed. The door stop ( behind the door) has been broken for months. Add to that a dirty floor and you have an unhygienic facility that is an insult to customers. On my most recent visit at the start of service, the courtyard area outside was covered in litter and debris from the previous day - very uninviting. Surely Winchester Cathedral can do better than this?

Condescending staff attitude, making false accusations, poor customer service, rude staff behaviour, I used to go to this pub 2-3 a week with work colleagues and family and explained this to the manager who showed no sign of customer service or appreciation of my custom so with regret I won’t be going again.

I visited The Frog and Nightgown in Newport Pagnell on a Tuesday at 22:10 with three others. While I understand it wasn’t a busy time, the service we received was extremely poor. Despite being well within the advertised opening hours, the staff showed no interest in serving us. We stood at the bar, clearly waiting to order, yet the bartender ignored us, focusing on cleaning spill mats without making eye contact or acknowledging us. No effort was made to inform us whether we could still be served. Instead, they simply walked up, turned off the music, and continued as if we weren’t even there. We were ready and willing to spend good money, but the complete lack of basic customer service was shocking. I’ve visited before and had an okay experience, but this visit left a bad impression. Even if the bar was closing soon, a simple acknowledgment or explanation would have been the bare minimum. Instead, we were made to feel like an inconvenience. Very disappointing—I won’t be rushing back.

I came to Ramsgate as a tourist. At about noon I went into this pub and asked if their kitchen was open. Outside a sign stated food all day. The very apologetic bartender said sorry, drinks only. Disappointment, because the place looked ok. She directed me towards other establishments near by, so thanks for that.

We had the wake for my son’s funeral at the Weston Manor Hotel, a very sad occasion but the hotel was a lovely venue, very attentive staff and the food was delicious. We opted for a hot buffet, lasagna and other dishes plus deserts, and the price was reasonable, I cannot fault the hotel.

Lovely staff, great selection of beers and, brave statement I known, but, the very best dinner kebab I have ever had. And I’ve had a lot. Lamb not beef like 90% use these days, no grease great bread perfect salad. Brilliant pub. Love it five star
