Disappointed with the food. The beer battered fish was soft & soggy, chips frozen & tasteless & the minted mushy peas - tasteless again & a measly sized portion! The cheese tart was overcooked & verging on burnt and again poor. It all seems it had come out of a catering pack. Puddings were slightly better but all in all we wouldn’t go back to eat. Shame, as it’s a nice village pub but they need to get some proper chefs in the kitchen rather than someone who just heats something up!

I booked The Bells for Saturday 2nd March for a function. We were visiting from Leicestershire and had a party of 65 people. We pre ordered a sumptuous buffet for the party. The staff were extremely helpful helping me to plan this event weeks in advance and they did all they could to accommodate my requests. The pub is beautiful and the 3 ladies on that night couldn't of done any more. I remember Faith and Emma and there was another one whose name escapes me! We had an excellent night and the locals who were in the pub were extremely friendly too. A lovely pub in a quaint village and we couldn't recommend this place highly enough. Thank you for helping me arrange a fantastic evening, one that will live long in our memory.

Had the festive meal for 26 Adults for my mother-in-laws 90th birthday. Well what can I say, £34 for 3 courses and £30 for 2 courses. Very disappointed with meal only 1 sliver of carrot 1 sliver of parsnip no festive vegetables on table no Brussels no Yorkshire puds. I had the steak which was £40 came with a few chips and very little else. Service was poor, The best bit was the bill. Total was £850. I paid a deposit in November of £260. When the bill arrived the deposit wasn’t taken off, When I questioned this they said it had not been paid. I then had to go through my banking app to prove it had been paid. Seriously think you need to update your system. Disgusting behaviour by staff. Would never ever come back here. Better festive menu at the harvester £15 cheaper more choice and much better service.

Never had such a dreadful meal (or not, as inedible) This was the so called Festive Buffet which consisted of a small cold over cooked burger, overcooked cold chicken tenders like bricks and a few other bits. The best was the dip for which there was insufficient, I think it was pitta, no dessert and generally not enough food to go around, The price was 3 times what it was worth. The pub itself was pleasant. Would not return or recommend to anyone planning on eating. Bar staff efficient though

We booked the festive menu £34 per head. Gave the orders ahead so was expecting it to be really good. Slightly disappointed, roast turkey dinner very small, 1 carrot, 1 parsnip. No sprouts???!! No Yorkshire puddings, cranberry sauce or pigs in blankets( standard on a Xmas dinner). I ordered sherry trifle, no sherry whatsoever, dried sponge with pourable custard and a blob of cream. Nobody asked us if our food was ok. Plates were just slammed down. When we asked for the bill it had items on there that we didn’t order.

We booked our family (11 adults and 8 children) Christmas gathering here for the second year having had a good experience last year. Sadly this year they did not do so well. All our meals were pre ordered so no excuse. No bread with the pate, items missing from the starter order. No pigs in blankets with the Xmas turkey roast or yorkshires or cranberry sauce ( we are regular. Sunday roasters and everyone gives yorkshires now, wherever you go) fish chips with really soggy greasy fish, children’s food really slow, had to remind twice. No one seemed to be aware we ordered deserts, constant reminders for cutlery etc.. one of our party cancelled over a week ago, we ordered takeaway roast that turned up in a bit of tin foil, the portion size was rubbish and they charged us over thirty pounds for his festive roast (that’s just not on). No one would know it is the season of Cheer as the staff were cool and not friendly, expected a better service considering we ere spending over £600. Sorry Bells

I used to be a regular at this pub as it’s my local however unfortunately we have not been happy with the new menu. We have a toddler now and unfortunately the children’s menu does not cater for the younger ones. They are all gourmet dishes, we asked if they could be flexible with something like fish fingers but they said no. So we went for the breaded garlic chicken and it came out so hard that not even an adult could get their teeth into it. The chips also came out salted even though we requested no salt, not sure why the chef is adding salt to the children’s meals. They bought out another meal when we showed them but by the time it came out, my toddler was over hungry and so we had to give him some of the salted chips as the new ones were too hot. I also didn’t understand why they bought out all the adults meals first when it would have made sense to bring the children’s ones to cool down. We won’t be able to dine here again. Such a shame as we do get on with the staff as well. But really didn’t have the best experience this time plus the food prices have got less affordable. Definitely need to reassess the children’s menu and maybe add some facilities available for the children like drawing / activities

Having used this pub many times in the past we decided to go for a drink. Whilst there we ordered food. Roast beef for hubby and I wanted fish and chips but was told no fish! I then chose king prawn and crab linguine. We waited a while but that was ok as we weren’t in a hurry. The food arrived and the waitress said she would grab some cutlery etc for us. A good 5 minutes later she returned. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. I had 5 prawns, no sign of any crab, sitting in a small pile of spaghetti in a tomato based sauce. Luckily salt and pepper came free! The roast was so small. 3 tiny potatoes, a few green beans, some cabbage , a Yorkshire pudding and 2 slices of beef swimming in gravy. The roast was £19 and the linguine £16.50. Very overpriced for what was on the plates. I know the cost of food has increased but this was taking the mick. We would go back just for drinks as we like the pub but won’t eat there again sadly.

A lovely pub in a beautiful location, I came here for Sunday lunch with 5 other family members. The sirloin beef roast dinner was delicious as was the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Requested another table and was pushed in the corner .The atmosphere was awful /void with 3 staff all chatting but not customer focused at all.We left and to give you an insight every other restaurant pub we passed was full.So what does this tell you. This pub could be so much more, It needs new ownership and managed properly could be as successful as the 3 Horseshoes, again not on the High Street .

We like to go to pubs for a nice quiet lunch, we especially like the Bells as the river Thames is a two-minute walk away and it’s a nice walk into Staines. Parking can be a tad troubling although if your lucky you can park outside for two hours max. Specials are on the board by the bar, as well as a medium sized menu. Staff are friendly and helpful, service is quick. The food well cooked as my pictures show. When you book say we do not want to sit by the door as it’s a bit tight with tables and screens all around. After you have eaten its out of the door walk to the left and the river is there, and a nice walk can be had. A tip for the manager, its always wise to check the salt cellar has some in it.

We have been many times in the past and have recommended to many. Reduced menu didn’t bode well. Long wait and extremely average food. Nothing like the standards of old. Capitalising on the £10 off scheme with what was fried food that was cheap. Service was slow. They redeemed themselves a little by removing the charges for the expensive shared platters. Clearly they will get their money from Richi Sunak. But so disappointed. Annoyed as I had recommended to someone only this afternoon.

Visited here for Sunday lunch, we were late and the kitchen closed in 10 minutes, but the staff were overly friendly, got us seated and promptly took our order for two Roast Beef Dinners. The food arrived promptly, large portions and a nice helping of meat. We asked for a couple of sauces and extra gravy, all of which arrived promptly.

Following a 4km walk around the Lammas area we headed for our pre-booked table at The Bells. Quite quite for a Saturday afternoon, however nice food and beer... good portion sizes too. Friendly staff. Nice building in picturesque old Staines ...with a village feel. Will definitely be going back. This could so easily become a gastro pub with a little investment ...visit before it does.

Came to the Bells for a Sunday roast with my family, and was very pleased with the service and attentiveness of the staff. The food was very well presented and came out before the said wait time. Very happy with our trip to the bells will be back next week.

Although we arrived before the start of food service, we were still shown to a table and allowed to sit in the dining area until the kitchen opened. The food was very reasonably price and tasted lovely. The staff were very attentive and friendly and made you feel like you were at home. It was lovely and I would highly recommend this pub

We’ve been coming to the Bell for years when we visit Staines and always loved the food & friendly atmosphere. Something has changed & our event lunch was disappointing both in the presentation, taste & presentation. The staff seemed to not care that we were customers, carrying on their conversations & pub business all around us as we ate. Come on the Bells; you’re better than this.

We were out on a walk and stopped here for lunch. It was one on the best Sunday dinners I’ve had out for a while. Generous portions, excellent service and in a wonderful pub setting.

I was visiting the pub on Friday night with work, the atmosphere was great and the service was excellent but unfortunately the food was disappointing. I ordered pork belly which was chewy and the fat wasn’t rendered properly. The crackling wasn’t crispy and was in fact soggy and covered in gravy. For dessert I ordered the sticky toffee pudding which was unfortunately burnt. Very underwhelming. Would not recommend that place for dinner. Nice enough to have a drink though. Friendly staff.
