Recommended to us by our daughter we weren’t disappointed, Lively bustling pub with a friendly welcome, We went for the hanging kebabs and they were out of this world, very juicy and flavoursome and accompanied by a lovely fresh greek salad and fries. Will definitely be returning sometime soon.

Britstop user, stop off travelling from the Lake District on the way home, staff friendly and helpful, a busy pub, the locals are friendly, good food and beer, would recommend going to this pub.

Given the recommendation in Trip Advisor, on arrival the DA was more basic than I expected. I was concerned as I went in that it was not busy, so maybe not so good. I went there on the recommendation of the DA’s fish and chips but I did not see it on the menu. I was recommended the chicken kebab instead. It was excellent, as was the salad (very fresh) and the chips that came with it, plus a generous helping of sauces. The beer was damn good too (Smugglers). Add to that excellent service and I had a very good lunch, thank you. One star deducted because some new chairs would make the sitting experience better. For all the rest I recommend the DA.

We had ribs which were really disappointing. They looked good but were dry and overcooked and served with sauce just poured over the top and sat on some really anaemic chips. Definitely not to be recommended.

Meat all on the tough and chewy side. American style dinner with large portions. Nice pub with friendly staff. We ordered two starters which came the same time as the main meals. I mentioned this to the young waitress and she said “ oh did you want them first” I always thought that’s when your starters came. Menu is fine but the food could be cooked to a far higher standard. Food all comes on top of paper which is just annoying and adds nothing to the presentation. Sadly another pub I won’t bother with again.

I booked my brothers wake here and would like to say that the food was brilliant and plentiful. The staff were friendly helpful and welcoming. Everybody who attended loved it there. I would like to thank Dom and his staff for everything they did and for making us all feel welcome

Massive portions & delicious food. Be careful what you order if you’re not that hungry! We ordered avocado & garlic mushrooms on toast (three slices of toast!), and halloumi wrap & goats cheese salad (as we didn’t want chips & slaw). Wrap was enormous & tasty. Greek salad could have been my main meal, the portion was so generous. Plus it came with a side salad as garnish but once again, a good portion. Will defo eat there again, but either have wrap or Greek salad as a separate lunch rather than altogether. Would thoroughly recommend. Approx £12 per head for lunch.

had a surprise visit from family in the Netherlands for my birthday, so Sunday lunch required and once again it didn't disappoint between us we had the Lamb, Pork belly and chicken tasty hot well cooked my family loved it. i had the waffles oh my god amazing , the staff are wonderful smiling, cheerful and nothing too much trouble meal are large and full of flavour. well done to you all my family will be back next time they are over couldn't believe they had such a lovely meal coming out of such a small kitchen

My wife and I went the night before Xmas eve 10 at night children were shouting and playing football in pub garden it would seem that this public houses clientele is mainly from the Irish travailing community though that's fine it did feel uncomfortable at times due to the rowdy ness and do as you likely attitude

This Pub is really very nice ,nice staff ,good food ,large portion,Been several times to meet friends and have been with friends ,we all enjoyed it .Only ate once and that was good .Seems to be working really well for the new management

Just popped in here to have a drink and saw the food and decided lunch was for us .I had half roast chicken my husband had the Lamb apart from there was way too much chicken for me ,i could have done with the quarter, they came with Yorkshire, roast potatoes, carrots, cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower cheese very tasty and staff were super friendly and efficient. The mac cheese arrived for a child but had come straight out of the oven and daughter burnt herself. Far too dangerous to serve food to an 8 year old like that. The portions were large but burgers were very dry. Food wad basically overpriced...

Seventeen of us gathered here for our diamond wedding get-together meal. The staff were very helpful, set out tables for us, and generally looked after us well. The food was good, although a rather limited range on the menu.

The food was really nice the service was great the staff were very helpful and the atmosphere also fab However, under the new Covid situation I didn't feel Covid secure !The staff were not wearing masks or visors, they lent over you at the tablethey brought you the cutlery not wrapped or anything there was a specials board which presumably you had to get up to look at no obvious hand sanitiser no system for going to toilets (ie one at a time or at least wear masks) very disappointed, this was the first outing to a restaurant this year and didn't feel comfortable about the above

Stopped off here by chance for a Sunday lunch and really glad we did so. Very efficient and friendly staff serving delicious food in a lovely setting. Started off eating in the pretty pub garden but moved into the cosy, spacious and stylishly decorated interior when the heavens opened. Very good varied menu and thoroughly enjoyed the peri peri chicken burger served in a crispy sourdough bun, accompanied by string fries. Highly recommend.

have not been since lockdown but we used to go every Monday for lunch and have had private parties here. One thingI would comment on is that it says wheelchair accessible. This is onlyif you have a strong man to get the wheelchair in also no disabled toilet. Do you know if there is a new landlord.

Popped in for a Sunday Roast to save time and effort and I am so glad I did. The place was absolutely packed with customers but I was still treated by the friendly staff as if I were the only one there. Awesome service and excellent food! Large portion size for the roast dinner and definitely “Value for money”. 10/10 will visit this pub again and will recommend it to friends and family.

The heidi pie roast was wonderful, perfect amount of food and all delicious. The syrup sponge was also very good with lots of syrup! Friendly place and good stop mid-walk.

Wayne & his team always provide good honest food that is well prepared and a friendly courteous service to boot. There is also a great range of drinks on offer and a nice environment in which to have a night out for lunch & dinner. The Dashwood also has regular entertainment evenings on Saturdays which combined with the food offers a great night out.

Never been here before or had even heard of it but a family member had and decided to book a Sunday lunch. None of us were disappointed. Everything we ordered was so tasty, the roast potatoes are the best. Definitely recommend and definitely be back again.

We booked a table for Valentines night after seeing the special offers on steaks.. Wow! The whole night was fantastic, live acoustic music and beautiful perfectly cooked food! (Normal menu was also on offer) We didn’t order a Cote de Boeuf but saw it come past and it looked gorgeous, we will definitely be back for one soon!! Such a fantastic atmosphere, great service, 5 star

Chicken skewer portion was ridiculously huge, and I was pretty horrified to find at least one of the pieces of chicken was undercooked in the centre - alas I didn't discover this until I was eating it. My friend's mushroom stroganoff was truly horrible - we both tasted it - it was like the worst kind of packet mix sauce, slimy and not at all like any stroganoff I've ever tasted. I mentioned that my friend didn't like the dish when our waiter cleared the plates and his only reaction was 'Oh, ok'. When I paid the bill at the counter, I was simply told the total with no itemised list of what we'd been charged for. I paid up, not wanting to make a fuss and spoil our evening out, but next day I totted up what we had (from the menu posted on their website), and we were clearly charged for the stroganoff, which in most establishments would have been taken off our bill as it was barely eaten. The first time I went to this pub I enjoyed the food, but after the poor food and poor service this time, I won't be returning sadly.

What a pub should be. A place to have a great time, chill a while, make new friends, great landlord who is passionate about what he does. LIVE BANDS. People complain about being lonely, well come down here and have a great time. We've visited many more times since my last review and I've got to say that the present staff are fantastic. Latest food we tried, rack of ribs, with loads of succulent meat and my wife had the hot chicken salad. Brandy snap baskets and chocolate brownies to finish, yummy. Great beer and Gin selection. Mini festivals and charity advents throughout the year.

Visited this pub today with my wife and we had a fantastic meal - I had steak pie which was superb , lovely tender meat ,really tasty gravy and delicate pastry, my wife had a roast chicken dinner which was equally delicious. We also enjoyed a bowl of lovely perfectly cooked veg between us. We had a couple of syrup sponge puddings to follow which were fabulous. Really good pub food at reasonable prices - what more can you want ?Food was great as was the friendly atmosphere. As soon as you walk in it felt welcoming. The landlord/owner even turned a table round for us so we could both watch the rugby - he noticed me asking my wife if she wanted to watch it as she couldn’t from where she was sat so just came over and moved the table so we could both see. Couldn’t fault anything about this great pub, long may it continue to thrive .

I've used this as my local pub for a number of years now and it's fitted the bill for every occasion. We've used it for a 25th anniversary, 21st, 50th and 80th birthday parties, Christmas work do's and generally popping in for a pint, Sunday lunch or a bit of live music. The atmosphere is welcoming and the staff are excellent, they go the extra yard to make your visit what a visit to a pub should be, enjoyable and social.I'm not a beer drinker (lager for me which is well catered for) but there's always a good selection available as well as a wide choice of gins and whiskies if that's your thing. The landlord is an enthusiastic service provider, warm and welcoming and a huge range of 'dad jokes' for those that are interested! With the reduction in the number of pubs locally and the decline in the atmosphere and service provided, this is a welcome gem. if you're after a local pub atmosphere, mix of clientele, live music, great food and a genuine welcome, it's the place for you.

had lunch there and while the food was great, the service was poor and the lovely food was served on cold plates which then takes the heat out of the food. Sorry but cold plates... there is no excuse these days, its not the 80,s. If you don't have a plate warmer then heat them up under a grill or in an oven or in a sink of hot water, BUT haet them. The food was so good I will be back tho.

We visited this pub for a spot of lunch at the weekend. The staff on the whole were pleasant and helpful. We ordered adult and kids meals which were very good portion sizes. The goats cheese pie was nice and the chips tasty too.

We had the hanging kebab! They were amazing; such a novel idea for pub food. Other food coming out of the kitchen looked great too. The staff were friendly as were other patrons. It was lovely to go to a local and get that vibe! We’ll definitely be back! The pub was packed and they had live music.

Having often been disappointed with some pub Sunday lunches, thought we would give this place a try after reading good reviews. Very glad we did! Lovely roast beef, roast potatoes were plentiful and excellent, accompanied by cauliflower cheese, parsnips, broccoli and carrots. Only problem was that we were too full for desserts! Good beer range and proper pub atmosphere too. Will certainly go back.

Car park is difficult to find in the dark and pub is difficult to find if coming from the south. This is an unpretentious pub don’t expect a modern bistro. Food was served promptly. We were asked at the table whether we needed extra drinks. Looking forward to visiting again in the future.

I've recently been back to this pub having moved away from the area.

For the past two years we frequented the Dashwood arms probably 8 times. Mostly on a Saturday night when they have live music. We love the hanging skewers served with either a lovely Greek salad, peas and rice or chips with a delicious warm flatbread. The waiting times could be a bit long, but worth the wait as it is freshly prepared. The owner is always around and pitch in at busy times to help with service and cracking a joke with guests. If you want something fancy - this is not the place for you. This is a good old fashioned pub with great food, friendly staff and guests and food and drinks reasonably priced.

We read the great reviews so went for a meal on Saturday night whilst staying in the area. From the moment we walked through the door it was great; busy but not overcrowded. Got a table easily, ordered food at the bar, couldn’t have anything but the great looking hanging kebabs. They weren’t the quickest but were freshly and beautifully cooked and we were only waiting around 20 mins. Food was delicious, there was a live band on and plenty of people having a little dance. I guess it must be mainly villagers in there, but we were made to feel very welcome with the landlord coming over to chat twice, and numerous check-ins from the young waiter/bar man and waitress. So all in all great visit and couldn’t fault the service. Thank you!

Pre ordered the cote de boeuf (to share) for a birthday treat...absolutely superb. The food never disappoints....just one day, I may have room for pudding! Well done to the chef and the staff to helped to make it a celebration to remember.

Visited this afternoon for a late lunch.

Lured by the excellent reviews, my husband and I decided to go to The Dashwood Arms for lunch. We sat outside as the day was warm. There was litter under the tables and the whole garden looked as if it needed a little bit of attention and at least a clear up. Nonetheless we ordered - hanging chicken and lamb kebabs,chips and a Greek salad - and waited and waited. After half an hour the food arrived. Instead of the fresh home cooked food we were expecting, the food was dry although raw in places (the lamb in particular was still very pink/red inside and full of gristle - just inedible). The chips were oven baked chips that I could have bought from a supermarket. Both of us left most of the meal. Very very disappointing experience; so much so, that we will not be rushing back for a second experience.

i was soley tempted to give 1 star and saying it was terrible (complaining that the halloumi wasn't hung as part of the hanging kebabs etc) simply to elicit a superb Basil Fawlty reply from the Manager. Lost my nerve however and it wouldn't be true. The halloumi fries were delicious as was the fish pie which had plenty of fish both in size and variety. My only query as to why the starter and main course arrived together? Didn't bother me but might have rankled the more discerning of Trip Advisor commentators.

Went as part of a hen party, there was a big group of us and they could not have been more helpful with the planning in advance, nor more welcoming on the day. The portions were enormous and all the food was very tasty

Have visited a number of times. Enjoyable good old British pub with attentive staff and likeable management. Food portions are large and tasty with a good variety of beers,lagers and spirits. Plenty of room outside for the kids on a sunny day with a beautiful view of undulating Chiltern hillside.Now a very popular place so may have to wait a little longer for food during busy periods - duh! Obvious!

We went here based upon visiting the Hell Fire Caves & finding the link to the name Dashwood! (I'm sure people have chosen places for more spurious reasons!). What a lovely supprise to find such a welcoming & well laid out location. Very enjoyable lunch with a nice choice of foods for all tastes. Well worth a visit when in the area.

Went with visitors 2 days ago on a recommendation and the choice of pub couldn't have been better. Atmosphere very relaxed, friendly, wonderful garden, we ate inside and comfortable. The staff were all friendly, helpful and smiling. Turned out Friday was a steak night and my steak was perfect. Plenty of choice on the menu to please all tastes. The added bonus was the live band who were superb. Really felt we had a good night out and will be returning regularly.

The Dashwood provided a superb summer BBQ as part of our summer party for a group of nearly 70 of us. Great food, plenty of it and excellent service.

Wow! Don't know the landlords name, but the guy had got this spot on. This was our first visit, we went to see Logical Tramp, a tribute band for Supertramp, so the age group might have been a bit set...an amazing night, they were great, and the support band playing indoors, the mighty triple O band were equally amazing. He books bands that appeal to all, beer is good, food is good....they let us camp out in their carpark in our motorhome....if you stay nearby, the landlord will drive you there...of course it's to maximise beer sells but hey, how many pubs do this?...they also have a whole year of events planned.... fantastic... we'll visit again

My wife and I were staying for 3 nights in the George and Dragon, West Wycombe (review of this place to follow). Having eaten at the G&D; on the first night of our stay we decided to look for somewhere better the following evening. Two miles down the road we found the Dashwood Arms and what a difference this place is to the G&D.; An excellent menu to cover most tastes, good service and very good value for money.

We visited as part of a group of 30 and can say that they served us very efficiently. We were give a room that held us all and the food came out very quickly, especially as the food is cooked from fresh. Delicious food and large portions, very affordable.

I had the most delightful fish and chips in this pub. They were absolutely excellent. The chips were chunky were soft inside and crisp on the outside. The fish was cod and deep-fried. There was no thick greasy batter on the outside it was absolutely delicious. The fish with was chunky flakey and beautifully cooked. It was moist not dried up. I think it's probably the best fish and chips I've had since I've returned to the UK 10 years ago period.

We all enjoyed our lunch here. Although it was busy they produced a really good plateful of good. Vegetables not over cooked. Helpful and friendly staff.

We passed here on our way to Hampton and stopped for lunch. It has to have one of the best choices for gluten free food that I’ve seen and I chose one of the pieminster pies. My husband almost always has fish and chips so is quite the expert yet said it was the best he had had. (Gluten free too!)

I have heard a lot of great things about this pub but for me it fell a little short of my expectations I was surprised to have to place my order at the bar both with drinks and food.

Went here for dinner after calling ahead and being told the kitchen was open and there was a food festival on. Only to discover the Kitchen was closed due to a charity event that was serving burgers and sausages style bbq the event was £7 entry with food and drink on top. The live band playing seemed a really together metal band and had a more extensive menu been on offer I would have happily paid £7 to listen to them after dinner.

Visited with a friend for an early evening meal. Hummus was lovely, we ordered more! Halloumi fries were declared good by my dining partner. Service was friendly and prompt, I ordered the Spanish King Prawns as a main, and they were SPICY (a bit too much for me, but they were delicious). I'd visit again.

There was a slight delay in getting the bill settled but I think this was due to an exceptionally busy evening and the staff handled the pressure very well. Thoroughly recommended.

Food to die for - I had THE most delicious halloumi burger with chunky chips and cheesecake from off the planet, the chef is a true genius.The pub has the most amazing art work everywhere you look, much of it painted by Wayne, mine host. I need to go back again and see what I missed - in daylight, I want to see the garden :) and try more of the lush food.

We went to the Dashwood Arms to celebrate my husbands birthday, the food was excellent, very friendly atmosphere, excellent waitress and bar staff service. Certainly will go again.

My wife and I booked a table very late on a Thursday and were delighted when they said yes to a 20:30 booking. Was impressed by the variety of alcohols they had, wife had no problem with her favourite G&T.; Starters, I had whitebait, best I’ve ever had and a big big portion. Wife had Halloumi fries and loved them. On to mains I had a double portion of ribs and they were the best I’ve had in the UK which is high praise, I travel a lot to the US. Wife had the steak and mushroom stroganoff, I tried it and I loved it, it was perfect! The rice was very lovely also! All the food we saw come out of the kitchen looked amazing including some hanging kebabs which we gather are a bit of a speciality of theirs. We couldn’t manage dessert as we were too full! Glad we found it, we consider ourself to be foodies and we will be using this place again...... tomorrow!

Called in for a coffee while on a circular walk in the Chilterns. Very friendly welcome and we stayed to enjoy one of the best ploughman’s ever! Great value too!

The Dashwood Arms organized a surprise Christmas dinner for my other half in February. It was perfect in every way. They decorated the area, even put up a Christmas tree. Served a 3 course Christmas dinner to 36 people. Food was amazing. The staff were brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. The children were all treated really well. Big thanks to all the staff and Wayne for a amazing day and evening.

Was passing by one evening and decided to try the hanging Kebabs. My partners and I both choose the Mixed Chicken and Lamb. They were delicious, tender and flavourful. Came with nice pita bread and crunchy chips. Will def be back the young lad that served us was very attentive.

A last minute decision to eat out, a quick phone call to make a reservation (they managed to squeeze us in) and the six of us have just returned from a fabulous afternoon eating, drinking and laughing at the Dashwood Arms.

A basic pub, popular with locals but not a destination pub. Very loud sports TV and poor non-alcoholic drinks.

Rebellion Brewery beers were on good form as was the lamb hotpot. The ham, egg & chips had a good sized slice of thick ham with it; pretty good, but I would have preferred another egg.

We arranged a family meal on Sunday, it was my 83 year old dad's birthday and our first family 'celebration' since we lost our Mum. Dad booked it and I have to say we were incredibly impressed. The place was very busy, not a shock for s Sunday - glad we booked. When we ordered we were advised there was a wait on food which was good that they pre warned us. When the food came it was well worth the wait - generous portions and incredibly tasty. Pudding was also fabulous! This was a really important gathering for us as a family and the landlord Wayne (?) bought my dad a drink and made him feel very important. My only slight niggle was the time it took to clear the plates from our table after our main meal, I had to ask behind the bar but as soon as I did it was dealt with. Thank you again and we will be returning without doubt!

Today we decided to follow the National Trust's West Wycombe Ridges and Bottoms walk. An 8 miler on which we found this fabulous wee pub in Piddington, the outskirts of West Wycombe. Although it was a busy Sunday afternoon we managed to get a table and enjoyed a lovely roast lunch...very well priced and great atmosphere. Lovely management and staff. Will definitely return soon! And the walk is recommended too!

We had a most enjoyable lunch time celebratory meal with fabulous food and a great and varied men. All dishes cooked to order using fresh ingredients - compliments to the chef ! A first visit for all of us to this wonderful establishment which came highly recommended. We are now able to add our own endorsement without any hesitation having experienced first hand ; we've also become huge fans ... Look forward to our next visit which will not be far off. My husband and I visited the Dashwood for lunch last Sunday and enjoyed an excellent roast lunch. The staff are all so welcoming which made our visit so enjoyable, We will be making a return visit as soon as possible and will not hesitate to recommend the Dashwood Arms to all our friends and family

Just returned from an absolutely fabulous dinner - extremely generous portions and cooked to perfection. We had the Cote de Bouef - I honestly can’t stress enough how good it was and fantastic value for money too. Friendly, attentive staff and a wide selection of beers, gin, wine etc. We will definitely be back for more very soon.
