Update - having seen the response to my review from Greene King I did as they requested and contacted them on the same day to the email address they provided, I suspected that their response was probably just an automated one rather than someone actually reading my review and really caring that we had a bad experience. 6 days later I have not received a response to my email and now I’m left wondering if the emails are even read by anyone? To be honest I couldn’t really care what they have to say as we weren’t intending to go back there but why pretend to care about feedback and request further contact if then nothing happens? Appalling customer service! Very disappointed with our dining experience on Mother’s Day yesterday. Firstly, our pre booked table for 3 people was so small it was barely big enough for 2 people, when we queried it we were reluctantly offered another table but told it had a time limit as it was required for another booking. We were then told because we’d booked the Mother’s Day option we could only use a specific menu that only had 3 meal choices on it. The tart served on the vegetarian meal was still frozen in the middle and the vegetables on the other 2 meals were cold. We had to wait quite a long time for our dessert to arrive and just as it was served we were told that “our time was up” and we needed to leave the table because it was now required for another booking. Definitely not the experience we were looking for or expecting as a treat for Mothers Day, we will definitely never dine at the Marlow Donkey again!

We’re visiting Marlow and inadvertently popped in just in time for the pub quiz with the dog… who are we to turn down a good quiz. We played along with Sharon running the show, she was great. There were more than 15 teams and it was a great laugh from start to finish. We were made to feel very welcome. We’d come back again if we were here and would defo recommend to anyone visiting

Lovely pub, the quiz is always the highlight of the week! Menu is extensive and the staff are great, Libby in particular is always a friendly face to see! All in all a must visit pub if you're in Marlow.

Marlow Donkey is an absolute legendary pub in Marlow. Perhaps only second (as far as legends go), to the bartender herself, Libby. Libby is not only friendly and conscientious, and all of her recommendations are spot on. If there were 10 stars i'd give them.

Great local pub with a good menu and lovely staff, in particular Libby who had spot on recommendations behind the bar. The quiz nights are the best in town, led by the lovely Sharon.

Recently refurbished and it looks amazing, food is really great. Thank you to Libby for the recommendation of a delicious Gin. Also the quiz on a Thursday is the best and Sharon who runs it is awesome.

The food offering has always let this pub down. The service was great and the atmosphere buzzing when we came to the quiz night always a good night when Sharon is in charge!

Met up with an old friend on Sunday at the Donkey - our old stomping ground - for a tipple. The bartender Libby made it a great experience and recommended us the Level Head which I hadn't tried before, as well as some good small plates. Will definitely be coming back

Lovely little pub, perfect for a Sunday afternoon drink. Roasts look great, might have to give one a try! Staff are always friendly – Libby was particularly helpful, giving us a hand in choosing a pint for my father-in-law!

Always guaranteed a great evening at the Marlow Donkey especially on quiz Thursday and Sharon is a fantastic quiz ‘master’ and is the best one yet.

Would highly recommend, staff is lovely particularly Libby who has served me quite a few times, she is always very helpful and delivers excellent customer service every time!

Very busy pub. Good atmosphere. Sadly lacking in staff ! Parking is limited and I was aware of this. No disabled parking facilities I think is not acceptable. 3/4 parking spaces for recharging and NO disabled parking ? Not acceptable ! Pub is looking nice. They are only employing staff on "weather conditions"!? Today it was forecast to rain but turned out to be a beautiful day, they could not cope ! Waited an hour and a half for our food! Starters ended up coming out with mains ! A mixed grill was ordered with a RARE steak ! Order came without the steak! When it finally arrived it was inedible! Pulled pork nachos was ordered as a starter ! No pulled pork! It finally arrived when the nachos had been eaten !!! Food was not good !!!!

We went along to the Marlow Donkey tonight for the first time. The staff, Si and Karla, were extremely welcoming and happy to engage in conversation. There was a varied menu and the food was good quality and prices were reasonable. There was also an excellent choice of beers and spirits. Well worth a visit

Lovely atmosphere, the staff are excellent especially well dressed Simon, also dogs allowed which makes life so much easier, food is on par 5 star, highly recommend, I look forward to coming back in summer

Nicely refurbished. Food ok and reasonable. I thought they might try and improve the offer with this nicely decorated place. Don't get me wrong I like a bargain meal but I also like a treat occasionally.

The food was good, drinks were alright for a pub and the service offered by the staff was great, very friendly and chatty which made the atmosphere good. Had a great time in good company!

I loved everything especially the hot chocolate and the pizza, I've had nothing better than the luxury hot chocolate!!!!!

2nd time here in the last 3 weeks and again we're not disappointed!!! Great food and a fab atmosphere... can't wait to be able to enjoy the terrace and gardens in the summer... a little gem in Marlow!!!

Fabulous lovely gammon egg and chips the staff were amazing big thank you we all had such a great time. Big 5 star from me.

Lovely pub with fantastic staff members. Always happy and welcome my family and dogs in with open arms. Food is great and fab value for money. Drinks are always so cheap as well which is an added bonus!!!

Visited on Saturday 20 Jan, service poor, food not great £10.95 for single measure cointreau 🙄 !! Espresso served in large cup. Whilst not possibly the fault of venue didn't appear to have a designated dog area and children of family (with dog) completely out of control on table next to me. Won't be going again.

Just been refurbished. Had the vegetarian katsu curry which was very nice, £10.99. good value.

It's in a brilliant location. Looks lovely from outside. Average pub, Food was ok, standard pub grub. However, disappointing at busy times, they struggle to get all the food out at the same time. However, I have visited since, and the service was much improved.

An OK place for a sandwich lunch but otherwise unremarkable

We came down on NYE it was brilliant. So organised. Great staff .. but most of all " great manager" he took time to speak to us and make sure all was good. Fabulous !

Ever since new management has taken over this place has brought nothing but fun and joy to marlow. The food is amazing, the staff are great and have a great sense of humour and are very helpful. Chloe is just fabulous! The service we received from her was exceptional! Will definitely be visiting again! Best, cheapest pub in marlow!!

Waited over 2 hours for food even though we booked a table in advance. At the time of ordering we were told 30 mins. Food when it finally arrived was a disappointment. Would not recommend

This is pub has the best atmosphere I have ever had the pleasure to go to . Being in a motorhome I asked the landlord if I could park there ! He not only agreed but made sure I knew where to park. As I was at a friend’s birthday party we were very well looked after. I will definitely go to this place again and recommend this great pub with friendly staff to anyone that asks .

Love the refurb. It looks great in there and lovely atmosphere. Food was quick and good for the kids. Not too pricey either!

My wife and I had a lovely Brunch. The guys on staff were super friendly, and the Traditional English Breakfast was perfect.

Long waits for food, sticky floors, sticky menus. The most disgusting toilets I’ve seen and that was the ladies toilet. Service was friendly but understaffed. Much nicer places to go. Lots of electric parking spots with non electric cars. What’s the point!

Nice and friendly staff and looks very nice after the referb. nice and bright clean and colourful. With the music creates a good atmosphere. Only had a coffee but would definitely visit again.

Marlow Donkey has recently been refurbished. We have had the best experience with friendly, helpful staff, including Si, Chloe and Rob, who go above and beyond to make you feel relaxed and enjoy an excellent traditional pub environment. I couldn’t recommend highly enough. Dean and Ayse, Marlow.

We have visited here a few times now and each time we haven't been disappointed, the staff are very welcoming and accommodate you very quickly, Andy the manager is also very welcoming and always comes to chat to make sure everything is ok for us, the service is very quick and I can't fault the food at all, they have a great variety of food on their menus and have different menus for different things, would highly recommend a visit there

Everytime I have visited for food and even just drinks we have never been disappointed Andy is very welcoming and so are all the staff members I would highly recommend taking a visit there u won’t be disappointed, service is quick and the menu has something for everyone so no restrictions for anyone, well done to all staff working there and special well done to Andy you are doing a amazing job there, see you all soon 😌

So the breakfast was expensive and was awful the guy forgot the eggs bacon was all fat and the sausages were cheap and nasty asked for bread and got toast. Would never recommend.

Good selection of beers available and a good sized pub

We were visiting family nearby and wanted some lunch so we decided to call here. This is the first time we have been to this pub. We were made really welcome even with 2 dogs in tow! Nothing was too much trouble and the food was great along with the service. Thank you for making us so welcome.

I visit the Marlow Donkey regularly and it’s an absolutely fantastic atmosphere. They have undergone an amazing refurbishment, and all of the staff make you feel extremely welcome. They host a lot of events throughout the week so it’s always an amazing vibe no matter the day you attend. Andy, Si and Alex the Managers are extremely helpful and are doing fantastic. Karla is my favourite Team Member and always delivers my personal favourite, the Nacho Sharer and Passionfruit Punch, to my table and is always super accommodating and makes sure I have everything I need! 😊 Would highly recommend. Thanks Guys. X

After coming to the Marlow Donkey for many years, is refreshing to see a real breath of fresh air with the recent refurbishment. Can fully recommend the fish and chips and good to see local rebellion ales available.

Spent a weekend in Marlow, and discovered this newly refurbished pub near the train station.Great find! Warm, friendly atmosphere. Attentive service from the staff. We had Sunday dinner here. Tasty food and well presented.

The Donkey has just undergone a brilliant renovation and is now a fun, exciting pub with lots of quirky features. The manager and his team are friendly and welcoming and the service and food are great. Thursday evenings are packed with a very popular weekly quiz - booking essential!!

We didn’t eat here, however had drinks a number of times to shelter from the weather after getting off the train. Great welcome, love the decor and the team are really friendly.

It was class mate, both the cheapest pub in Marlow and the best service in Marlow. Andy the GM is very helpful and accommodating to everything you might ask or need! Anyone visiting Marlow should visit the Donkey!

We've lived in Marlow for 13 years with the Marlow Donkey as our local pub. Under this new ownership, it's the best it has been - really friendly staff (led fantastically by Si), great new decor, decent beers on tap, and consistently tasty food that's good value. Thanks to the new team for everything, keep up the great work!

Had a late breakfast at this pub, sitting outside in the sun on the new deck at the back. It’s been completely refurbished recently and looks great. Menu is straightforward and whilst not gourmet, is good value. I had a breakfast bap including hash brown plus a coffee for about £6. Food came swiftly and nice friendly service. Will definitely go back when next in Marlow.

Great pub and really good food. The team working were brilliant and really friendly. Won't hesitate to come back as this is a half way meeting point between us and friends/family. Parking is the only slight issue as the car park is small but there is plenty of nearby parking, just be aware that you may need to walk a few minutes.

Nice pub, good food quick service. Also has a good atmosphere and great outside areas for the summer. One fault is the limited parking spaces however if you are within walking distance is not an issue

Pub looks nice very welcoming however it was very cold in there. Food prices cannot be beaten, however everything on plate pre cooked, but ok if you want quick food. Pensioners plates good value. Not enough service behind bar too much waiting to be served. Sadly car park full as usual.

I have given this pub 3 stars for the following reasons; It was very cold in the pub, 4 out of the 9 of us had to keep our coats on whilst we ate our lunch. There was no waiting staff, you ordered at the bar, which is fine if there are only 2 people. With a group of 9 it was constant trips back to the table to ask for clarification on menu choices. I chose not to order from the seniors menu, but still the portion was very small and the vegetables on my plate consisted of just one small floret of broccoli. A few carrots and pea’s would have been nice. Our coffees after lunch were not hot and the cups were only half full. Having said that, the chicken and gammon pie was very good. The decor in the pub was good and the staff were very friendly and efficient. The car park is very small, we had to park a way from the pub on the roadside. The loo’s were very clean.

After not being to The Marlow Donkey for many years, my recent night out there was brilliant. I would highly recommend it for friendly, welcoming service that goes above and beyond. Si, the assistant manager was very attentive and made sure that our group had everything we needed. The front of house staff were equally attentive. A great experience.
