Food was ok some bits a little odd one of our party had the duck which was tasty but needed some veg and potatoes with it and at £26 for duck sauce and a couple of root veg pieces makes it very expensive and to be honest very over priced. Burger was tasty but very hard, chips not the best sprinkled with herbs that didn't taste good. Overall a bit pricey for what it was which is probably why we had the restaurant to ourselves No atmosphere and very quiet which made the row from the kitchen not great to hear. Staff friendly but not trained well.

I went here on the 23rd September for my sons 21st he is a big fan of the family. The pub is clean, welcoming. The waitress was amazing. Polite and really looked after us. I had the Scotch egg for starter and honestly was the delicious! I had the steak which was yummy. My husband had the pork belly bites for starter and he said they were amazing! He then had duck which was delicious, my son had the burger and said it tasted amazing. My daughter had the vegan option and did enjoy the gnocchi but would like to ask for more vegan options please. My son was given a hawk stone lager, cider and glass for his birthday and we would all like to say thank you and we definitely will return.

Gorgeous home made, quality gastro pub food. The pork belly bites and scotch egg were unreal, as were the giant onion rings. The mains were very good, but starters and sides really stood out. The service was very friendly and the place was bustling during our visit, with a vast drink selection of wines and ales. It’s disheartening to see unfair and fake 1* star reviews from social media trolls. Wishing the new owners all the best!

Having followed this family on social media for a few years, I let the hype die down and took a 2 hour journey this morning to try out the Sunday lunch. We were not disappointed, the table was nicely situated next to a window in the corner. Waiting staff very attentive, checked whether there were any allergies, asked whether we had been before, made recommendations and knew their products. We didn’t get chance to take photos of the famous pork belly bites as they were eaten in record speed. The roast dinner was delicious, I opted for a sticky toffee pudding and the other half had a lemon tart with raspberry sorbet, and again we were not disappointed. A really nice little pub and glad we travelled to see what it was all about. We left suitably stuffed and you could have rolled us out. I wish the May family all the best in their new venture.

My friend and I went for a Sunday lunch a few months back. The food came out in good time and the service was really good. The drinks were nice and the garden is lovely. When the food came out it was all a bit cold. Definitely had been sitting out for a while. The Yorkshire puddings were really nice. That was probably the only thing that was nice…. Beef was cold and overcooked, some of the vegetables were hard and some were wet and soggy and very overcooked. The potatoes were okay and so was the gravy. The price was pretty good. However, the next day my friend and I both experienced cramps all night and diarrhoea the next day. We had ordered the same meal so I think there must have been a link as we were both not well. Had high expectations and sadly it fell very short of them after everyone hyping it up, don’t think I will return.

Opening times are unreliable. We called in at 9:55pm tonight (Friday 30th August) to be told they'd already called last orders! A couple of weeks ago they called last orders around 10:10pm We usually go to the pub every Friday for a drink after band rehearsal, which finishes at 21:45. Apparently last orders had been called early because they'd been quiet and it was obvious we weren't welcome.

The staff were very friendly and made the experience more enjoyable. The food was acceptable, it looks good but doesn't deliver - very dry mash potato, very chewy pork, very little hummus with flatbread. Overall, it was worth seeing in the flesh but nowhere special.

The starters were enjoyable, and the main course, a burger, was satisfactory. However, there was no atmosphere as we were the only table. Having booked Sunday lunch 2 months ago and given the popularity of this venue we were all looking forward to our visit. The car park was packed and we had to park down the road like many others - what we hoped was a good sign. We arrived on time (table of 6) and were taken to our table out the back in a very cramped room, which even the staff were struggling to get between the heaving tables. Our order for food and drinks was taken in good time, however 45 minutes later we were informed that our written order had been deleted from the computer system due to a technical difficulty and could we place our order again. By this point we were beyond hungry and getting restless. It took a full hour from our arrival for starters to be served and we had to chase up the mains again (I probably could have cooked a roast from scratch in this time). When the mains arrived the plate was dominated by a overcooked Yorkshire pudding that whilst impressive in size, was left by most as inedible, potatoes that the knives provided couldn't even cut through and hard carrots/parsnips. The staff were all polite and apologetic, but clearly whilst the social media side is doing a great job to impress and pull in the customers this seems to be at detriment to the quality/service provided.

The car park was full so could not see if there were any Blue Badge spaces. Entry through the front door is difficult for any person with walking difficulties. Staff not trained to greet and serve customers. The menu was graced with the usual burger (expensive for a bun with filling) and the Chicken Tikka was off the menu. Food service was very slow ,and food of indifferent quality. A starter of olives and sundried tomatoes arrived without said tomatoes and any recpticle in which to place olive stones. It would seem that we were expected to place them on the table. The Caesar Salad was based on a bed of rocket,a few croutons, a couple of anchovie slices and a thin sauce. The garden looked very pleasant, but nothing else wil lnspire us to visit again.

My friends and I arrived at the Russell Arms 15 minutes before their opening time on a Sunday, eager to have some lunch and drinks after a long and tiring hike around Coombe Hill and the surrounding areas. Unfortunately, our experience was far from what we had hoped for. We were among the first to enter the pub and requested a table for three. To our disappointment, the lady informed us that they were fully booked. When we asked when the next available booking would be, she replied that the entire day was booked solid. We then enquired about seating outside and in the garden, but those were supposedly booked as well. Even a drink at the bar was off-limits even tough we'd be standing. Left with the bitter taste of rejection, we departed disappointed and ended up consuming the few snacks we had brought with us before continuing our hike. What added insult to injury was that as we passed by the Russell Arms a few hours later, we saw plenty of free tables. It left us feeling that they could have accommodated us, which marred an otherwise brilliant day of hiking. As a warning to fellow hikers and visitors, if you plan on going to the Russell Arms after your hike, make sure to book in advance to avoid the same disappointment we experienced. We ended up going to Wendover for lunch, where there are more choices and a much more welcoming atmosphere. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere for a post-hike meal.

I recently dined at Russell Arms and, unfortunately, my experience was underwhelming. To start, the service was agonisingly slow. We waited nearly 45 minutes for our 1st course, and another lengthy delay to receive the mains, when the starters finally appeared the pork bites were dry and uninspiring and the scotch egg was crying out for a runny yolk. They hadn’t been prepared fresh so why it took so long is beyond me. This lengthy delay overshadowed the entire dining experience. When our main meals finally arrived, the food quality was disappointingly average. Given the reputation of Russell Arms, I expected much better. The dishes lacked flavour and were without any discernible seasoning. Albeit the presentation was pleasant, elements of every side was below par. The root veg was burnt, the cauliflower cheese was baked to the dish, and the cheese had obviously got bored and left. The potatoes however were nice if a bit charred. The pork fat hadn’t been rendered or trimmed so by the time it was dissected to make it edible, it was a snack bite. It felt as though minimal effort was put into the preparation, making the high prices even harder to justify. Speaking of prices, the cost of dining at Russell Arms was (in our opinion) unreasonably expensive compared to what we was on offer. I left feeling that I had paid a premium for a mediocre experience. Overall, my visit to Russell Arms was a bit of a letdown. I’d sum it up as style over substance.

We went for my birthday, booked for lunch. Wanted to go as we follow the Mays on social Media. Was a little disappointed after all the hype. Mainly service, this was slow, felt like we weren't really interested in us. Got told to go through, and then was just pointed in the direction of our table. No one explained anything about drinks, if they'd come back to take our order. I went to see what drinks were available as there was no drinks menu. In the end, after a brief description, the waitress followed me back to our table to take a drinks order. Food was good. Asking for the bill. That took a very long time, and multiple attempts to pay. My partner got up a couple of times to try and pay as we just wanted to sit outside and finish our drinks. We were just told someone will be with us. We got a bit bored of waiting around and decided to just go and pay at the bar. We had been waiting for a while. Which I understand you can wait if it's busy, but by this time I believe the lunch rush was definitely over. Not many tables left. This could be an amazing experience, I believe, just some little touches and little tweaks need to happen. Everyone was lovely who we spoke to, and there is a homely vibe in the pub. A drinks menu for sure on the tables, or just available. Thank you for having us, and hope this goes well for you all 😊

Really disappointed. I thought I’d bring my partner here for dinner as it was his 30th birthday and I had seen so many photos of the food, influencers giving great reviews and it looked to be a great evening! I have followed this page for a few months and I was really excited!!! We arrived at around 1810 and our table was booked for 1830. We were asked to have a drink at the bar which was absolutely fine. It got to around 1830 and another couple came in for their table booked at 1830 and were taken straight through. Another five minutes and nothing for us baring in mind we had our baby with us who was hungry. The restaurant had a few tablets in but not many at all. I took my son for a walk around the bar and then we were finally got taken through as I think the girl being the bar noticed my son was getting agitated. No menus, no offering of drinks when seated. We got our sons dinner out and fed him while we waited. We then got offered drinks. They arrived and still no menu. I eventually asked for a menu as we were starving and this was nearly 20 minutes after being seated. The service was really not great to be honest. We felt like we had been forgotten about over and over. This was my partners 30th and I felt like I’d really let him down with the restaurant choice. When the food finally came it was nice so that perked us up a bit although a lot of things weren’t on the menu and had run out! It was a Thursday evening so I was surprised by this. There was no pizzas shown on the menu like on the website and other things and this is what my partner wanted. All in all it was a real disappointment. I feel like when the important people such as influencers are in, the bosses show up and the service is great but when you are standard customers like us you’re kind of left to your own devices. I really want to come back for the roast dinner on a Sunday and I wait for spaces to open online but with the service we received I don’t feel like I don’t want to now as I can’t imagine the service will be better when it’s fully booked! I did message on the Instagram page but have received no response although stories are always posted on there so unsure who has access to the messages.

Short rib burger wasn’t as juicy as I’d liked but tasted amazing, Mac and 4 cheese didn’t have the cheese pull I was expecting but again was delicious. HAWKSTONE Lager …. Best lager I’ve had to date.Big chef round of applause for you. The may family and co, I will be bringing the parents very soon! Thank you!

Expectations were high before our meal at the Russell Arms, but expectations were dashed when we were met by the very limited menu. One vegetarian option, of stuffed pasta, what a cop out, and that was swimming in so much oil it was just dreadful. Having then been told there was no fish or chicken wings the menu became even more limited, so we had to settle for a good old burger, which was very greasy but ok. The steak would have been an option, but a sauce option at £4.00 a portion is just a joke. The previous owners of the establishment had a fantastic menu, as for the current owners, I will never frequent your restaurant again, just awful.

Travelled just over an hour to come here for lunch today. For a busy new pub I was very impressed. The food was delicious, I couldn’t fault it. The two girls serving us could not have been any better. However, there was a miserable group of elderly people that would not stop complaining about the waiting time for food. We waited around 20 minutes for our lunch which is pretty good considering there were lots of big groups in there. I would definitely travel here again, I want to try the roast next!! :)

Had an amazing lunch at the Russell arms today. Food was brilliant staff were really friendly. Customers in there were extremely rude to the staff claiming service was ‘slow’ we waited half an hour max for our food which realistically is not bad for a busy pub. If you go in there please remember to be kind to people it is a new and growing pub therefore everybody is new and still learning ! You can’t complain of slow service when the food is great and it’s busy. If you want fast awful food head over to whetherspoons

Visited here after following the social media for a while and was very excited to try it out. Food was nice and service was fast but it felt like we was being rushed, the young lady that was serving our table was annoyed when we asked to see the dessert menu after we overheard her already asking 2 tables to leave because their time limit was up.. not very professional. The staff are nice however they definitely need some training, no water offered and we had to ask for drink menus a few times. When serving the food and taking menus instead of just waiting the staff just lean across you and interrupt you whilst trying to enjoy your time and have a conversation, also whilst serving the food one young guy had 2 hot plates in his hand and leant across my partner and nearly hit her in the head with the other plate that was hot! When there was ample space to be patient and walk around us. The food portions are huge and taste good however if they get their staff trained and make you feel like you want to spend your money there I think they would be a lot better.

Firstly whoever’s making the food isn’t a chef! More of an artist as they spend it seems more time making the food look good rather than taste good! Some people may want instagramable pictures but not everyone does! Some of us actually want the quality food we’ve paid for!! Huge let down on our visit here last week! Went as a family of 4 and as I say the food looked amazing! However it tasted far from amazing most things we ordered tasted of oil that hadn’t been changed for far too long! Given the prices this place charges then everything should be perfect but so many basic little mistakes from the front of the house and then with the food! Offered water with drinks order then it didn’t arrive until we had to remind them half way through the mains! Have to say the older chap working I presume he’s the manager we found to be just miserable! Our server was lovely just very forgetful! If this place wants to survive then sack the chef and employ someone who can make great food as well as making it look good! Also if this chap was the manager then maybe recruit somebody else who doesn’t bring the atmosphere down! We even commented to our server who just awkwardly smiled but it was obvious she was well aware of this. Huge let down we may give it a go again in a couple of months to see if it’s improved but at the moment I’d advise food luvvies to avoid! If you just want a picture then fill your boots!

Thoroughly disappointed. Just come back and am appalled. Was expecting great things because of the hype. Food took 1 hour 10 mins to come out. “Posh” fries were so burnt that the inside of the chip was hollow! Sausages so overdone couldn’t eat more than 1. Tonight they had also decided they weren’t doing dessert for some reason. Overpriced and can’t believe I paid more than £40 for 1 overcooked chewy sausage and fries that tasted like burnt bits and so crunchy it was impossible to eat. Service was the only thing redeemable.

Food wasn’t that good. I had the burger and it was dry and a bone. Chips were soggy. The only good thing was the pork bites. We waited 50 minutes for our starters to come. Not GOOD!

Visited The Russell Arms on 19th April for the first time and everyone in our party said it was one of the BEST meals they had ever had. This is not your typical Buckinghamshire restaurant featuring the same old tired dishes, it’s clear a lot of thought and attention has been put into crafting a menu that is leagues above the competition. The pub/restaurant had a fantastic, warm and friendly atmosphere. The tables weren’t crowded, the service was amazing, the waiting staff a credit to the business, first drinks arrived swiftly (and were kept flowing) and every dish of food was special. The decor inside is modern and tasteful, with great colour schemes and complimentary artwork but subdued enough to not take the limelight. The limelight is saved for the Head Chef’s delicious menu which I for one cannot wait to taste again, every dish was a star. The Russell Arms is definitely one to watch and lived up to every bit of reputation it has built in recent months - and gave a lot more. I've read a few negative reviews but they make no sense and contradict all the other really good ones and are perhaps written by competitors who must surely be losing out on business to such an awesome restaurant here. Well done to the entire team, it was a first class evening and I look forward to visiting again soon.

Far to many mistakes for the price you pay! Seems they’ve decided to open a pub hire a chef that’s not up-to the level they’re selling. Staff friendly enough but far to many mistakes! Far better places in the area that deliver a better experience for less! Disappointing I’m sure after the TikTok frenzy this place will fall away as it just isn’t up to scratch! Shame as the actual building is lovely.

Cosy, food was amazing, staff are as good as you can get. Couldn’t fault a single thing today. Very busy when we walked in, daddy may and Charlie were at the bar and did our drinks before we sat down. The waitresses were so friendly and super hard working the whole time we were there. I’m from Norwich but my Dad lives very close to the pub so we decided to go when I came to visit my dad. I will be coming back again!! Can’t wait

Came in for lunch today after wanting to come for ages but not being able to make the travel. Food was amazing, especially the pork belly and the mac and cheese. The only let down was the service we received. The waitress we had was lovely but service was extremely slow. We were in the pub for around 2 and a half hours just because we couldn’t get the attention of a server when we were ready to order anything or when we had finished our meals. Despite that, we will definitely be back as the food was great.

Came here with my wife on a Friday night and had a friendly welcome on arrival! Shown to our table in the lovely decorated restaurant I had the chicken wings for starter which had an amazing unique flavour and a good crunch to them with lots of them as well! My Wife had the halloumi which she loved! We both had the steak as our main course which melted in your mouth and can highly recommend! We were served by the lovely Sophie who was very attentive and helpful! We will definitely be back and can't wait thank you!

Dropped in for breakfast and to sit outside the main entrance as it was glorious. There was only a couple of members of staff serving and the queue was building. An elderly gentlemen was faffing about, he was both sides of the counter, completely ignoring the staff or customers, just making his own coffee. Another elderly lady came in and similar, both sides of the counters, chatting to the gentleman, then going into the cupboard and messing about with the fire alarms. She’s barking orders about waiting for a coffee and rolling her eyes. Next thing they are both sat outside and the queue is even bigger, with people explaining this has become the norm now. Brilliant, I wouldn’t mind but the coffee and breakfast was no where near the usual standards.

Shocking, went in the late summer for a lunch meal and went away extremely disappointed and we will never return again. The price for what was a very small part baked then an overcooked dried roll was daylight robbery. It cost me £12 for the plate in the photo and 1 pint of beer. Spoke to various staff members who didn't really know what was going on and said that was the price. If you do go be warned, this is the worst pub grub and value for money in Marlow.
