If I could give this no stars I would. Went with a group who had a booking at this pub for lunch today. Booking was made and confirmed late March 2024. On arriving today at the empty car park - the pub was shut , with a property board advertising for a new publican. Total lack of communication from the pub to say they were shutting down - and too top it off the group booker received an email saying Thank you for your visit - we hope you had a good experience. I am sure this lack of customer services has led to the pub closing. Poor. The only positive was the car park had space!! We did enjoy a lovely meal at the nearby Queens Head, Pound Lane.

We checked out the online menu and decided what we would eat. I have acid reflux so my choices are limited. When we looked at the menu neither of the dishes we wanted was included and there was nothing else we wanted, so we left without even having a drink. I had the impression that the service would be slow, it was cold and the ambience was poor. Won't return.

Waited for 30th for a waitrer to serve us and told we will get to you as soon as I can. 5mins later we walked out and went to the Kings Head in Little Marlow and got served straight away . Will never return . The empty car park should have given us a clue what to expect 🤔

Rank. Whoever runs this pub needs to get a grip. NO BEER. Poor selection of lager. Menu not as stated on website. Food was terrible, we left over half. The location of this pub is great but if it is treated LIKE THIS IT WILL SOON BE BULLDOZED. This is a constuctive review. Bernard

We had a very bland experience here on Saturday night. When we arrived they told us they had no ales left because of a party two nights previously had drunk them dry. This seemed really hard to believe and meant only the very expensive (£7/pint) Neck Oil was available. Then when it came to the menu, the options were so limited, being nothing like the menu on the outside of the building. Four of our party of five opted for burgers which all looked and tasted at though they'd come out of the freezer, just like the spring roll starter. The only food that was enjoyed was the calamari, but the prices were so high. The service was really slow and one main came out five minutes after the other four. I'm not sure how recently these proprietors have taken over, but they really need to up their game or reduce their prices significantly

This feedback is intended to be constructive for a pub with great potential. Sadly, didn’t feel like the food or the service was worth the money and feel really disappointed that we’ve paid over £100 for a sub-par Saturday night meal. The wine was warm and when questioned we were told the wine was in the freezer. We ordered a dry white wine and received a sweet wine. The Prosecco was served in a wine glass and again warm. The starters were tiny portions and nothing homemade. Spring rolls were basic tiny ones out of the freezer and only receiving 4 for £8 with a small ramekin of out of the bottle sweet chilli sauce. The fish and chips were soggy, with no flavour. Everything was just so oily. The tartare sauce was almost jelly-like and clearly out of a squeezy tube. The vinegar was served in a ramekin with a tea-spoon and when we ordered a cup of tea we were given warm milk with a fruity tea bag! We love to support local and were pleased to see this pub open but we won’t be back until some changes have been made towards improving.

We were so disappointed with the Three Horseshoes! WE had booked a table and when we sat down we were given a menu each. However, we were told that they had only 3 things available - fish & chips, Burger & chips or lamb tangine. One of my friends asked for a cup of tea only to be told that they don't do hot drinks. My 2 friends opted for the fish & chips which they enjoyed. I had the lamb tangine to find just 4 or 5 little cubes of lamb, no chick peas nor almond flakes which were in the description on the menu - it was luke warm. I asked if they had been busy which might explain why they had so little choice but was told they had not had a delivery! I asked if they never do hot drinks to be told that the machine was broken! A very disappointing evening indeed. We won't be returning

We thought we’d support this local pub as it’s changed hands and the reviews have been mixed. I booked a table for 5 of us. Once we were settled and given the menus we were told they hadn’t received their delivery and only had 3 items on the menu. We decided to stay and choose from the selection given. Two of the meals were sent back because they weren’t hot enough. After our main course we were asked if we wanted deserts. But there were only 2 choices! We asked for coffee but were told there are no hot drinks! And then they added a service charge to the bill! So all in all a disappointing experience. I felt sorry for the one member of staff that was serving and running the bar.

This has to be the worst place to go for Sunday lunch in the area. When we arrived at 1pm there was only one couple in there and now we know why. The service was mediocre, we asked for cauliflower cheese which never turned up. They said they were dog friendly, but we got the impression our 2 Cockapoos were not welcome. The roast itself was very basic. 2 slices of over cooked beef with 2 (which looked and tasted like) Aunt Bessie‘s Yorkshire puddings. Avoid.

This place has changed management. I have been several times over past years and always been great. I’m not sure that this place will continue to be a pub as they haven’t a clue. Arrived having booked a table and told that they didn’t have my booking even after I showed the booking confirmation. Not a good start but considering there was only two other people in the whole place, it wasn’t a problem to seat 4 of us. Expensive menu for what was offered. No chicken at all and no coffee available. No drinks after 3.30 and basically the staff sat watching the tv waiting for us to leave. The other two people left earlier and no one else came in. They added a tip which we should have halved. The chap who served us was pleasant enough and apologetic about lack of options. Do yourself a favour and find somewhere else to eat and drink. We will never return!!

Came on a Saturday to try the new menu and left very impressed! You could tell how fresh the produce was, which made the burrata and heirloom tomato starter - for example - absolutely delicious. The pesto that came with it was probably the best I've ever tasted. The caught-same-day fish and chips was amazing too; beautifully battered fish and the skin-on chips were proper chippy chips and great too. Having been a Marlow Bottom local for nearly two decades, it is the best food I've known the pub to have. The service was helpful, attentive and friendly too.

Invited for supper on a weekday. We had two couses...cauliflower and pigeon then turbot plus drinks. It's a very limited but nice menu with freshly prepared food. No coffee was available other than instant! Very unusual and should have been sorted before opening. Styled as a gastropub it was very quiet and perhaps a little expensive (12.5% service charge) for an out of town venue looking to establish itself. Only two weeks into new management so wish them well and will be interested to see how it develops.

It was a shame to see the pub so empty on a bank holiday Monday lunchtime. We had great service and the food was very good. It was a set menu with a heavy Indian food bias. The chicken tikka starter was delicious as was the fish and chips, and burger mains. The accompaniments to the meals were also very good. The playlist of songs being played in the background was excellent. The only criticism was that we ordered orange juice and lemonade which came as j2o and lemonade so cost £5.20! Otherwise a near perfect lunch experience.

We complained about the wait three times, and eventually were served with lukewarm food! The lack of information was bad, we had no idea what was going on. The pudding arrived 15 minutes after we had finished the mains. We were able to get the deposit back and were not charged for the food on our insistence! The whole experience was awful, I would not recommend anyone go to this pub; I booked a table for 8 for Mother’s Day on 1st March – the booking system asked for credit card details to secure the booking. At the time of booking, 2.5 weeks before the day, there was no special menu advertised for Mother’s Day I received an email a week before the book advising that they were doing a set menu for Mother’s Day, which we had to pre-order, we’d have the table for 2 hours and I had to pay a £10 per head deposit (even though they already had credit card details) The set menu was a very limited version of their advertised Sunday lunch menu and significantly more expensive (though included a ‘glass of fizz’ for mums). We were not happy about the last minute changes, but as a table of 8 the week before Mother’s Day with a weeks notice, we had little option but to go ahead with the booking. I immediately replied to the email and received no reply, the phone number would not connect. I eventually got through to the pub on Tuesday afternoon – apparently, they had been having problems with their email account and phone line. There was no mention of this on their Facebook page (would have been an easy and obvious way to communicate with people) We were booked in at 1pm; the pub was quiet when we arrived. We got the pre- ordered ‘glasses of fizz’ – they were all warm. Starters came quickly. The warm ‘ciabatta’ and oil was barely cooked mass catering bread Mains – we waited a long time between starters and mains arrive. They brought 7 of the 8 pre-ordered mains – we had to chase several times for the missing meal (which was one of the children’s – never ideal). By the time it eventually arrived, the rest of the meals were going cold. We had to ask for missing cutlery and sauces. The pork belly was so badly cooked it was inedible. The roast chicken and beef burger were dry and over cooked. The roast beef was tough. The Yorkshire puddings were clearly a mass produced and frozen variety. The vegetable portions were really small, 2 small bits of carrot, 2 small bits of parsnip, a tablespoon of salty cabbage and half a potato. Plus a bowl of undercooked cauliflower cheese to share. We complained about the quality of the food, the manager said ‘I know’! We waited over half an hour for puddings to arrive, by which point we’d hit their allocated 2 hour limit! The adult puddings were tasteless and missing the ice- cream. The children’s chocolate fudge cake was very dry. We waited another 20 minutes for them to bring the bill – they did give us 20% off the bill, although we had to send the bill back as they’d added a much smaller deposit than we paid. We were sat by the till (so very difficult not to over hear)- in the time we were waiting for our bill, 2 other groups complained, demanded their deposits back and left without eating. In all honesty, having the opportunity to go elsewhere, even if it was a takeaway, would have been a better option than the food we were served. We even saw one of the staff laugh at people as they complained to him. The food we received was nothing at all like anything shown in the recent reviews. I don’t know what happened yesterday, but it was one of the worst meals I’ve ever had and we will not return to the pub under the current management, or recommend that anyone else eat there. One small positive - they’d hired in a magician as some entertainment, who was very good, although we definitely paid for the entertainment through the over inflated prices.

Not a good experience. My wife and i visited on Friday, we’ve frequented this pub under various owners over the years but our experience this time was extremely disappointing. Firstly the table offered to us to was tucked away in a corner with restricted access, we did not take this, then our the table was cleaned but left very wet - which we complained about - then we ordered a bottle of Australian Chardonnay and were given Italian Pinot Grigio ; we ordered food, fish and chips for my wife and a simple burger for myself. We waited 3/4 hr at least for this to arrive, when it did the burger was ok but a little burnt around the edges with a miniscule portion of coleslaw, my wife fish and chips were not very hot and the chips were dry and crispy. The manager asked if everything was satisfactory and offered to provide a fresh portion of chips ‘in 5 minutes’ we took up this option. After a further 15 minutes wait the plates were cleared as nothing had arrived , we paid the bill (witnessed by the manager) and left , unsatisfied and disappointed .

Disappointed. Pre ordered as requested as a party of 20 for lunch. Food came out in dribs and drabs, Vegetarian sweet potato Wellington was served cold, 2 tiny slices with 2 broccoli stems with a dribble of watery tomato juice. Only enough for a starter at £14.75. Sent it back, ‘we will see what we can do’ came back clearly microwaved which had dried out the centre and made the pastry like rubber, broccoli cold. Inedible. Returned it and refused to pay. No coffee machine, ‘ can make an instant but water will be microwaved’ no tea. No non-Alcoholic spirits and ran out of coke. Card only to pay. Fish and chips was clearly a frozen piece from a supermarket, charging £17! Very little attention from staff, no condiments or adequate cutlery. No dessert menus offered so we left. Absolutely dreadful and very disappointing. Used to be such a good place to eat and drink. Certainly won’t survive if it continues in this vain, we won’t be recommending or revisiting.

One had to be prompted. The sourdough bread were pre part baked rolls not fresh as stated. We then had a long wait for the mains. We felt sorry for the staff as we were told the chef had not turned up (we later found out this not to be true). We had 3 children with us who understandably were getting rather hungry. By 16.15we cancelled our food as they were too hungry. It then arrived. We sent it back. Had the home made cake we had brought and left. This review does not in any way reflect the service of the tall dark waiter who quite frankly was a one man band trying to keep the day together. (He needs a raise). A complimentary round was offered which was accepted but that was on the promise food was 15minutes away not over an hour. Such a shame as the pub shows potential

Horrendous service, staff didn't know what they had in stock, so after ordering we had to amend it. Food took so so long even though the restaurant was not busy at all. One of the mains didn't come out until everyone had finished eating and two sides didn't come out at all. Everything was really slow and we cancelled desserts after a long long wait. Management didn't seem to care about the issues and did very little to rectify it. A very frustrating and disappointing afternoon on a day when we were celebrating a birthday. The food that did arrive was tasty. Definitely won't be going back, very surprised and disappointing at how the place is run.

I haven't eaten here in years and was not disappointed! The food was perfect and the staff couldn't be more frendly. Definitely will not be leaving it so long until my next visit.

Manager of the pub was unable to tell us an accurate choice of the menue until after we ordered. Changed my daughters spag bol to fish and chips without even asking if that was OK and offered no apology. Soup of the day wasn't described and for £7 was watery carrot soup, when Sent back he offered to heat in microwave which we declined and no removal on the bill. Prawn linguine was bland and had about 4 tiny prawns. Cutlery came out late. Said it would take 15 mins for starters, bearing in mind we were the only ones eating it took 30+ mind and then an additional 45 mins for our mains even though we ordered in advance. When the bill came they had added additional items on which we hadn't even ordered or recieved. Very disappointing as this used to be a well run enjoyable eatery, however will not be returning ever again.

Such a shame! Cutlery was covered in water marks as were the glasses; one of the glasses also had a lipstick stain on the rim. We ordered starters, one of which was fresh sourdough with oil etc and what came out was a bake at home baguette which was served which at £6.95 - ridiculous. The same baguette was served with the soup and pâté. Also, one member of our table got their main with the other starters which was sausage and mash. This came out on a starter plate with mash potato (NOT FRESH) and two sausages. No vegetables and a small amount of gravy on the side. By the time we got our mains we had been there 1h 30mins. There was no salt and pepper on the table and no mains cutlery. The steak sandwich was something which could be made very cheaply at home and was not worth the money. There was also a staff member who hadn’t been trained and wasn’t even shown how to carry plates he was just told off at the table. Our bill was then given to us where we were overcharged. Such a shame as the pub is so lovely with a good menu. Just needs small details paying attention to and the food needs to be served as per the menu and with better quality ingredients.

We thought we’d give it a go seeing as it’s recently re-opened. We weren’t expecting much but were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. It’s not an extensive menu but what we were served was fab. The service was very efficient and the staff really friendly. The beer selection has changed since reopening but a very nice pint of Tim Taylors was served. What this place needs now is more customers to remain open so locals need to get behind it.

Lovely new staff, happy to see its reopened. Manager and staff do everything to give us back our local gem. Vlad and Sumit were very nice and had a great conversation as well as allowing us to have a try of the new menu. Food definitely stepped up since the reopening. Thanks chef

Fantastic service on boxing Day. Vlad was brilliant. He gave us and our dog better than restaurant quality service, nevermind this being a pub. Great little place and glad we found it

Very nice pub serving good food in a relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend, and tempted to give it five stars. Could have a better non-meat menu, which is the only drawback for some. Definitely worth driving the extra mile south from that other place on the Wycombe to Marlow road. Highly recommend.

Burghers cafe area is beginning to look a little tired. The food is nice, and we will continue to visit regularly, however the decor is in need of some serious TLC. The couch seats are very badly worn and its a bit drab.

From the moment we stepped into The Crown we were given a lovely warm welcome! We took a table next to a warming fire which was much appreciated due to being -5 outside. Food was fabulous both choosing a main & dessert. Service impeccable. Really relaxed, friendly & nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be visiting again. Fantastic!

Have been here several times this year and every time it has been excellent. Food is lovely, good selection of drinks, both alcoholic and non alcoholic. Atmosphere is cosy in Winter and has a wonderful garden in summer. Parking can be a bit fraught so get there early and plan to walk a bit from available side roads. Well worth the walk and the walk will let you digest some of the most amazing food! This particular trip we had the gnocchi, which is one of, if not the best I've ever had and the sea bream...both are recommended.
