Visited this wetherspoons yesterday morning whilst visiting Chester, we ordered our food which took a little while to come, I started eating my eggs benidict and it wasn't very hot.. I told a staff member and he took the food away and after about 10 mins with me asking again where my food was, he then got someone to bring the food back.. They had put it into a microwave and blisted the food...not giving me a fresh portion... I'm afraid this place is awful, and won't be visiting again...

Following the Management Response to my initial review, I deleted it and have written a fuller version here: My initial review: If you ask for the beef madras, expect something that looks and tastes like beef stew with curry powder. Also, if you comment about the late arrival of your meal, expect a reply such as "I've only got two pairs of hands [sic]". My fuller review: Let me first say that I wasn't the only person to complain about your beef madras. Nevertheless, if you think the dish was satisfactory, then neither will I be the last. Secondly, the comment made at the time about the delay in receiving the meal wasn't made as a complaint. It was simply to say that chips were expected with the main course. The person who made that comment wasn't me, and didn't deserve the response he got from your waiter. With regards to being rude and disrespectful to your staff, you really need to learn the definitions of those words, as does your waiter. The only time I had a negative interaction with your staff was when I said that the beef madras was the most unusual that I had ever come across. Instead of being offended, you ought to take it as a learning point. I have been served curries in many traditional English pubs and restaurants in the past, and none were like yours. As for my Google reviews, you will see that out of 26, 12 are 4 or 5 stars. Aren’t you disappointed that yours isn't one of them?

Restaurant has significantly declined compared to past experiences over the years. Musty damp smell as you walk in 3/4 Empty restaurant on what should be the peak time (this in itself isn’t an issue however was not a good indication of things to come). Waited over an hour for food in an empty restaurant despite asking twice where it was. Food arrived cold, burnt and inedible The only reason this got a poor rating over terrible is because the staff were nice. It’s like they accept they know things are awful but it is out of their hands. Didn’t complain about the food as the overall ethos I felt that this was not worth doing as nothing would be acted upon. I only give constructive feedback in person if I feel it’s helpful and will be acted on. This pub feels like the decline is so bad, it’s not worth complaining in person. I’m only posting here so other people don’t waste their time and money. Only restaurant meal we have ordered takeaway to collect on way home whilst our meal is in front of us. We saw the funny side and laughed for 20 minutes about this. We consider this experience a lesson learned, £40 odd quid of education and to never come here again.

We’d visited this pub some years ago for a drink so decided to call in again for tea. I’d read the reviews which sounded good, so Friday night called in to find busy lively pub. Ordered fish pie and steak and ale pie with a pint of Robinsons ale. The food was wonderful. The steak and ale pie was a straight TEN. Fish pie could have had more fish and prawns so an EIGHT. Good portions and great atmosphere. The place was buzzing, and you can see why. You have to wait for a table but it’s well worth waiting. All the food we could see looked fab. We’ll be back soon.
