The Richmond Tavern in Liverpool

The old menu has been replaced with a drab dumbed-down version. Less choice, no standout dishes, no photos to entice you into ordering. Very disappointing.

I called in for some light lunch and a couple of drinks whilst doing my shopping on Saturday. Friendly staff. Great atmosphere and great food. I'd visit again. Keep up the good work. .

Huge! Thank you to Keith tonight Valentine's Day.. For accommodating my daughter Holly,and her totally Clueless partner . The tavern was fully booked and Holly arrived with two small children in tow only to find out her partner had booked the meal for tomorrow night!!!! Keith has very kindly on such a busy evening. Managed to fit them in. Even going to leave it anymore

Had a wonderful experience and my server Aimee was amazing taking care of me and my friends when we ordered food and drink very kind and helpful would definitely recommend coming in especially if she’s working she will help with anything you need and if u need anything ask for her behind the bar

Popped in for lunch, I had chicken and bacon wrap with salad, partner had the fish cakes, absolutely delicious often come here in the evenings aswell, food is great, very friendly staff lots of roomy tables to sit ,all in all 10/10 highly recommend plus chef and staff.

People make placers and the staff here are very friendly and do a great service . They will go out of there way to help you . Alway tidy . Nice place to vissit. Speciall thanks to the 2 brothers behind the bar also for all there help .

We went for evening meal I had beef lasagne with side of salad,partner had chicken tikka, everything hot and really delicious,hats off to the chef and staff who work really hard and so friendly and polite, lovely evening,my favourite place.

Been here many times but our last time here was Thursday 17 January 2025. We both ordered mixed grill which we were told they have no eggs even though little Asda was 50 yard away,then when it came out the food is wasn’t very warm and also half a mushroom each also onion rings were all mashed up we decided to leave as had a busy day and couldn’t be bothered to complain normally the food is spot on but not this day 😡

Enjoyed a lovely Sunday roast for the second time this month. Service and food both exceptional. Thank you all and see you soon 🙂

Had a wonderful night at the pub on Friday, atmosphere was welcoming and warm. To my surprise they had a live band performing at the back of the pub, staff where attentive and courteous. Nothing was to much trouble for them as they explained the procedure for ordering, all in all a great night in great company Will definitely return,would recommend to anyone

Been coming here for years but it's not worth the bother on a week night or weekend after 10 pm. Always feels like the staff are waiting for you to finish up so they can go home and it's freezing in there! No atmosphere which is a shame as its in a prime location and could be so much better!

I love my food piping hot but some of my meats on my mixed grill were cold. Chips tasted rubbery, not fully cooked. My Husband got posh fish + chips. This was sea bass in batter. He said it tasted too fishy??? I have been before + it's been nice so I think it's a bit of hit + miss with its food in this place. Sometimes nice, sometimes not.

Staff were amazing, very eager to please. Big issue was lack of staff. Busy Xmas period with long queues at bar just to let somebody know we'd arrived and wanting to sit as we had an elderly gentleman with us with walking difficulties No coffee, we were told after our dinner that coffee machine was broken. Food fine for pub chain. Definitely need more staff. Felt very sorry for the older gentleman who did all the serving. He was so efficient and friendly but run off his feet.

The food was lovely but atmosphere awful, we used to love coming here so we chose to come after a lovely xmas event with our 3 little boys. However, our meal was ruined with the table next to us, they had finished their meal when we arrived but stood around their table screaming laughing, raised voices the drunker they got, that loud I ended up taking a couple of paracetamol for a headache (it was only 16.30 on a sunday). Their children were running round as we tried to eat, parents thought it was funny as they were drunk. Staff could of asked seens they finished their meal could they move to the bar area rather than stay in the family eating area. About 6 couples, the men gathered in one group an the women in the other, just made it a really rubbish meal, my partner sat with one of the men stood up next to him with his backside near enough next to his face while trying to eat. Ruined a nice family meal.

Visited the Richmond on Saturday with my family for Breakfast with Santa - service was incredible, the staff couldn’t have done enough for us and the kids, food was unbelievable. Will definitely be booking for next year!

I recently ate here, had ham eggs chips & peas, which tasted ok, but 4 hours after eating I was very ill. Vomited 5 times. I had nothing else to eat that day so it must have been what I had eaten here. I am sorry to post this as the day was most enjoyable, the staff brilliant and the atmosphere great.

Can't review the place but I'm sick to death of getting emails from you. We rang to say regarding the wrong email address and someone was supposed to ring back. Nothing. 2 more emails from you regarding a change of booking i have never booked with you. Another email today thanking me for the recent visit and to do a survey. Barmaid Milley served me. To me, this one of my local pubs around Penny Lane. Very welcoming. Very bubbly and just made feel very comfortable. We all come to a pub to socialise and meet people but it’s always a massive plus when the staff are top notch as it sets the mood. Lovely girl. Can’t stress that enough. Would highly recommend coming here if you’re not from Liverpool or even if you are. It’s costs nothing to be kind. And I certainly saw that in Milly. Thank you Milly!!

I went for an evening meal tonight with my husband accompanied by our dog. The staff were really good, friendly & attentive to our requirements. The food was served piping hot and was delicious. So thumbs to the chefs tonight as well bar staff and server Millie. We often dine in The Richmond & have family celebrations in the restaurant too. Staff are always friendly & efficient.

Staff lovely & friendly. Not had lunch or dinner here. But I had a veggie brunch, The service was very good you don't have to wait too long, at very reasonable prices. Very clean even the toilets. They have a sitting out area to enjoy a drink, & it's dog friendly.

100% amazing quiz. Must come down on a Tuesday. Staff & quizmaster are all brilliant. So nice & lighthearted! Make sure you have battery on your phone - it’s a smart quiz. Really good fun!

Nice atmosphere and setting but the food is not very good at all. Salt and pepper calamari for starters was plain, sea bass not crispy at all, hard boiled potatoes & peas, and hardly any sauce. It's not cheap neither

I’ve been coming here for years and myself and my partner supported the pub in between all the lockdowns when Paula and Gary were the managers. The food and service were excellent under their management. However, when Jay managed the place, things seemed to slide downhill a little bit! Food wasn’t as good and the place looked scruffy, tables not cleared etc. Plus a lot of the old staff left when Paula left. I would like to congratulate the new manager Steve on a really good job. The staff he has taken on are lovely and the food is great again and really good value for money. I feel like I’m back in my old comfy slippers again when I come in here. Keep up the good work. Went there for our colleague's retirement meal which was extremely lovely just what we were looking for ,for this occasion. Staff extremely helpful from start to finish food really nice and good value, all meals arrived at same time and all hot . And a big shout out to Jack who looked after us so well .

A regular neet up on a Wednesday afternoon for a number of years. Always a great welcome from the staff who work very hard and all have a great sense of humour!! I would like to mention in particular Jayne who has been there for some time but still has the same cheery attitude as she always has. She looks after us really well! An excellent ambassador for the company.

I and my friends went to the Richmond Pub for breakfast. The service was exeptional. Jane our waitress was friendly and even made sure there was room at the table for a wheelchair. The food like the staff was deserving of top marks.

Absolutely disappointed in my food this evening. I had just driven 5 hours and was looking forward to a meal. I ordered half roast chicken and chips, what I was given was cold chips and 2 chicken legs, overcooked and barely any meat on them. My daughter took it back and was told that it was right. A member of staff arrived at the table and stated that it would normally be a breast and a leg but they were out of breast, so the chef gave me 2 legs. I said how dissatisfied I was and was offered a 'drink' to compensate. Not good enough. £12.99 for this dish, i should have been informed that it wasn't a complete meal, and given the option to change my choice before it had arrived, disgusting. I was too tired to continue to complain, I won't be going back.

Really nice pub with great customer service. My meal was fine, but my dad didn't enjoy his steak, said it was very chewy. Toilets upstairs could be an issue as we had our 90 year old aunt with us.

Really nice pub. I did come for the pub quiz and there was no one really there and told it was cancelled but we stayed for the lovely drinks and the good food. Great selection for veggie and deserts. The chicken wings were far from spicy and the didn't have blue cheese dip but you can't ask for it all. Great looking pub with great food, like a quiet country pub but near penny lane.

came in with my partner for tea on monday to try the new menu! started with the chicken nachos sharer which was delicious, then i opted for a classic mixed grill and he had the new spicy chicken burger with cajun fries which was completely polished off:) decided to grab some puddings to take home and enjoy with a cuppa, i had the apple and blackcurrent crumble with custard and he had the chocolate orange pudding, everything was outstanding. special thanks to our servers freya and lynn, they were so lovely and helpful 🩷

We love coming here as we can include the dog, yes he is part of the family too 😁. I would definitely recommend the posh Fish and chips they give 2 big fishes but there's lots of fish on it as I don't like lots of batter and not forgetting the caramel apple crumble

Lovely relaxing atmosphere. Came in with my husband with the added advantage that dogs are allowed so they can enjoy a drink too. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Food came out it was lovely and hot and my husband’s steak was cooked to his liking. I just love sundaes so the biscoffee sundae was a definite and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Lovely afternoon x

Went to the pub on a busy lunchtime, got served quickly, staff checked for allergies as they took the order and the food was great. Jane who served me was really helpful and as soon as I’d finished came to check everything had been ok and took away used plates.

We met for a 60th birthday, a buffet was put on and it was excellent. All in all a very good night.

The food was awful. I had the lasagne and it was burnt and dry, and the side order of chips were cold. I asked the shift manger for a way to complain and was told I need to do it online but could not tell me how to. Only way I could find to give feedback was on this review page. Absolutely awful service. Please save your money and go elsewhere, there are plenty of really decent places in liverpool to choose from.

I’m not sure where to start here. I’m usual never stuck for words. Earlier today whilst walking with a friend. We came across this place… a gem amounts the rough. We order some, what tasted like fresh caught that morning, 2x classic sea bass fillet with all the trimmings. I need to say I’ve been to many gastronomic eateries around our plant. ‘I was blown away by this dish.’ Also a massive thanks to Dan & Steve.. who I’m sure were trained in a Royal household. Outstanding service.

Met a few old friends there for a catch up , we had afternoon set menu really good value for money and very nice,wait time wasn’t too long , good selection of cask ale which was a good pint ,will definitely be back sometime soon
