Directly within walking distance from Holiday Inn right across the road, serves traditional English breakfast as well as being opened early, lots of drinks to choose from and a great place to hang out over pints and pints. Whats not to like?

Good and quick service, atmosphere depends on the day and time.

Worse Witherspoon I have been in.beggers in doorway no staff and one that was digging his phone. What stood out was lots of people inside and not one person eating says a lot and both toilets all taped off like a crime scene . avoid

We went in for coffee. We can't rate the food as we didn't eat there. It looked good though.

Took us half hour to get served terrible bar service, the barmaid said the quickest way to get served was to stand by a till, we was, we couldn't get any closer.My neice ate breakfast the next day and there was a fly come out of her egg, the waitress said the kitchen is full of flies and told us to complain which we did.Won't eat here again!

I love this location! You can have lots of foods choices, delicious food, unlimited morning drinks you can refill as you want! The bathroom is also very cleaned. The only strange thing is that waiter could forget bring to your table the eggs you ordered. In addition to this when you sit down, remember asking them to clean your table😜.

Well, considering we had travelled from Lincoln to Liverpool for the weekend. Based on our local Weatherspoon's we decided to eat here. Pleased it is not our local. I know it will be bigger, but not really that much. Our local is rammed most days and the Chef/Cooks in Liverpool could certainly learn something from Lincoln regarding quality & portions. Would we go back again...No. If you are adventurous, I would suggest spending a little more, getting good service and amazing food at Elif Turkish Restaurant. Food was amazing!!!

Didn't have anything to eat. Prompt service at the bar and very friendly staff. Not busy on a Sunday evening. Several undesirables walking around but swifty challenged by staff and told to leave. Good beer and wine at ridiculously reasonable prices for the city centre

I don't use weather spoons anymore If you're going out to enjoy yourself. Stay clear of them. Ale well over priced no entertainment and for the prices they charge they should have. And l definitely wouldn't eat the food in any of them. Boring places.

Got to be the worse staff in liverpool. I've lost count of the times I've walked out because I couldn't get served. Went in tonight and there was nobody on the bar. Waited for 5 mins and as I was walking out there was 3 bar staff by the kitchen chatting. Place must lose loads of potential custom .

Up,out and about on a beautiful but cold January morning my twin brother and I decided to jump the train down from Kirkby to Liverpool City Centre to visit some of the great pubs our city is justifiably famous for, the 1st pub we visited was The Richard John Blackler Pub, a pub we've visited many times over the years, always had a good time and so our 1st visit of 2024 proved. This is the oldest Wetherspoon pub in Liverpool, housed in the iconic Blacklers Building, the interior is superb, an island style serving bar dominates the main room, typical Wetherspoon decor and furnishings including photos of old Liverpool adorning the walls, there's also plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and outside looking out onto the busy and bustling shopping streets around The Richard John Blackler Pub, all in all its a great pub to unwind in. We grabbed a table which was lucky as this pub was very busy on our visit, a study of their real ale's and we opted to start with Black Flagon Brewery rum porter for me and my twin chose Peerless Brewery porter,these dark ale's were served in excellent condition and as we're both members of C.A.M.R.A we used our beer tokens which entitled us to 50p off the price of pint of a real ale or cider making a great value for money pint even better value for money pint, we kicked back, chilled out and planned out the day ahead while sipping our ale's. My rum porter was really good, dark ,malty ,packed with flavour and consistent from the first sip till the last sup, just a totally delicious beer style, my twin also gave me a thumbs up to his dark ale,we decided to stay for another ale each ,I opted to have Magpie Brewery ipa while my twin went for Greene King Brewery ipa ,we used our beer tokens again and again we were served two great ale's, my ipa was outstanding, well balanced, hoppy but not overhopped, a delicious aroma and aftertaste with a slight bitter finish, a classic British pale ale and once again my twin loved his ipa,its hardly surprising that this pub is so popular with ale's served in this good a condition. We both really enjoyed our ales in here ,between us we sampled ale's from four breweries that were served in excellent condition, had a great time, can't wait to go again. The Richard John Blackler Pub is easy to locate along Charlotte Row. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, open from 8am. Well worth checking out if you're in the area.

Everything was just OK. Little tricky to find a seat/table. Felt really sorry for the staff because it was that busy.

Drink here but DON'T eat ! Just had the most disgusting Fish & Chips here - the Fish was completely soaked in oil & the Chips were no better. My partner had the All Day Brunch which was also disgusting - cremated Sausages cold beans & the 2 eggs were almost raw. Fine place for drinks, although a 10+ minute wait at the bar was unacceptable, especially as the place was barely half full. NEVER AGAIN ☹️

The Richard John Blackler is a brilliant pub on Great Charlotte street and was the very first Wetherspoon pub that me and my twin brother ever visited.This Wetherspoon pub is a brilliant place to visit and one we go to all the time as they offer well priced meal's and drink's as all Wetherspoon pubs do. Housed in a superb building that was once one of the most famous department store's in the city centre.This superb Wetherspoon pub has a massive interior with nice decor and furnishings and many interesting items throughout the whole interior relating to its former use as a department store.With lots of good seating area's throughout the pub interior and nice staff'it's a great place for a meal or a few drinks. We have been visiting here for many year's and it's still an excellent Wetherspoon pub and when we went to here this brilliant pub was very busy.When we where here we had a curry meal and a drink each which where superb.The curries we had where Vindaloo And Chicken Tikka Masala which where 1st rate and a few bottle's of craft beers which were excellent. A brilliant Wetherspoon pub that's in a very lively area of the city centre and is easy to find from Central train station it's a couple of minute's walk.(This is my 5th review of the Richard John Blackler). Nice, and pleasant staff. Food was quickly served, but only because we used the App to order it. Unfortunately, getting served at the bar took 25 minutes when ordering drinks.

Updated. Much nicer than our last visit. Cleaner and looks to have had a small upgrade. Service as always spot on. Food was good and fresh although slightly longer delay to service. Will be back again due to proximity of train station.

There was plates and glasses everywhere you didnt know if the tables were free or not but very good atmosphere

At bar "served" by a man. Gave order, pint of Old Empire, Marstons please. He then disappeared. Woman asked want do you want? I pointed out being served by a man already. She said the manager had told him to do something else. So, no passing on of my order, no apology, just absolute rudeness and insult. The manager and the staff either need to learn rapidly customer service. Or better still do a job without customers. Appalling. 14/01/2024 13:30pm.

Just stopped off in here for an easy and quick drink with some friends as we'd just landed in Liverpool! Ordered x 2 double AU pineapples and lemonade, came to about £12, so fairly cheap! And the staff were friendly! Place was heaving as it was in the afternoon and there were some footie matches on!

This is the 6th Wetherspoon franchise we have visited during our visit to the area. The bathroom facilities are what one would expect to find in a backward 3rd world town in Africa. It is very disappointing to find such disgusting facilities in an establishment like Wetherspoon.

Awful food - cold vegetarian pizza and cold chicken curry! When they came back out they didn’t reheat the pizza and just put some rocket on top. They reheated the rice and chicken curry, which is reckless and dangerous! The poppadoms were awful - oily and missing a whole poppadom! They had a poor attitude and the manager was not very helpful. We got a refund on the pizza but that member of our party did not eat! The 2 mixed grills were adequate but obvious that they had been sat on the hot plate for a while!

So this place has been my go-to pub for drinks for the last year.Just now we got a proper racial discrimination where we were waiting in line with my fiancé for a meal and a drink and the server just asked the white lady behind to place the order.Might as well put a poster saying white only in the entrance.

Went for breakfast, the food did its job. Random, my phone is with three network and I got the fastest speeds I have ever seen on a mobile of over 630 mb/s -wierd

Getting served at the bar is hard so 100% to order via the app, other that that and the toilets being a bit dirty it's a decent boozer.

Very busy city centre pub. Managed to get the last free table on a Saturday lunchtime. The staff were working really hard and the food arrived quickly, it was tasty and hot. The drinks were very reasonably priced

Went this weatherspoons today for breakfast? All the food was cold the warmish part was the tea out of the machine it came without butter. It was if the meal was sat in the kitchen side even the egg was stone cold the plate was cold didn't even fell like it had been warm for along time ?my advice is find some where you can get a hot meal .not this one

Nice pub, good food, owner accused me of going the shop on shift when I was stood outside the door and refused to pay me. big fat guy with flannel shirt and moustache. He then refused people entry to the pub saying they were too drunk when they clearly weren’t claiming it was “his favourite part of the job.” Fat power tripper, and his staff know it.

My twin brother Stephen and I were pub hopping around town on Bonfire Night when we decided to drop into The Richard John Blackler Pub and what a great time we had in this big Wetherspoon pub. I like the look of this Wetherspoon pub, I think its the oldest establishment Wetherspoon pub in Liverpool, interior is superb, typical Wetherspoon decor and furnishings, an eye catching serving bar dominates the main room and there's plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and outside, its just a great pub to unwind in. We grabbed an alcove table ,we started our visit here with a pint of real ale each, we chose Pheonix Brewery " West Coast ipa " and these were served in excellent condition, as we are members of C.A.M.R.A we have ale tokens that take 50p off the price of a pint making what is already a great value for money pint even better value. My ipa was really good, well balanced, hints of toffee, a delicious aroma and aftertaste with a slight bitter finish, a classic ipa indeed. After we finished our ipa's we decided to have a meal,we chose a pepperoni pizza each and as part of the meal deal we were entitled to a beer ,we chose bottles of Birra Moretti beer ,these were served iced cold and sparkling, we sipped our really tasty Italian beers while we waited for our meals which arrived after a relatively short wait and what a treat. Pizza served in here was superb, a thin crust, a more than generous topping, beautifully seasoned and served steaming hot, coupled with our bottled Italian beers made for a great dining experience in a cool Wetherspoon pub. We really enjoyed our pizza,real ale's and beers in here before we moved on and as on every other visit to The Richard John Blackler Pub we had a great beer experience. The Richard John Blackler Pub is easy to locate along Great Charlotte Street, a street and area teeming with pubs, bars, cafe's and restaurants. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, open from 8am. Staffed by children who don't know how to make a cocktail. Drinks served in dirty glasses and when I tried to exchange felt like I was asking for the world. The worst Spoons I've ever been to.

First Witherspoon's I've been in.Very friendly staff and quiet clean, didn't eat there

We never ate at this place, it's very, very busy and normally I avoid this pub because you cannot get served, there's just not enough staff and this Saturday was no different, we had to clear our table if empty plates and empty glasses etc, this is quite the norm whenever I visit this place, I usually avoid it but we were meeting with friends so I had to endure it.

Food selection of drinks. Food is very average. Both mine and my friends' eggs benedict gad very over cooked eggs. The alarms kept going off, which seemed not to be an unusual thing according to the regulars . One member of staff who served another of my friends was very abrupt at the bar. We visited twice during our 2 day visit but fidnt return after the member of staff was rude.
