The best restaurants serving British food in North West

Enjoyed a meal here a couple of weeks ago so decided to try Sunday lunch ...glad that we booked as it quickly filled up. Service was prompt and the food was delicious. Generous roast dinners (I had lamb and he had beef). All hot and full of flavour - faultless.

Amazing food and good service by staff from Receptionist, bar staff and waiting on staff but especially to Elizabeth as she was so lovely and very helpful to us all. She couldn’t do enough.

Great home cooked food and very friendly staff. Wife opted for cheese pie and chips, I had full English (super size) . All cooked to order and of the best quality. Very generous portions and reasonably priced. I can’t recommend this place highly enough. Looking forward to our next visit to try some of the other items on the menu. Desserts are great too. Highly recommend.

Nice pub, reasonable prices. Off the beaten track. A great place to take somebody elses wife.

Lovely staff who are very helpful. My room was nice but wrongly positioned, as I had noise from the street and I was near a swinging door which people would slam open then slam shut. No hot water in the shower.

Party of four. We were seated upon arrival and immediately given menus. We waited 27 minutes for someone to take our drinks order. We informed the waitress that we were ready to order food at the same time. One of the sides was placed on the table and we immediately noticed that there was an ant crawling around on the plate. We took a video and called the waitress back. The sides for all four guests were refunded as a result. Unfortunately one of the guests has a poorly stomach now. Might or might not be related to poor food hygiene.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Eight Bells pub, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience that left a lasting impression. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a delicious meal. To start, we ordered both the spicy chicken wings and the BBQ chicken wings. The spicy wings were a delightful burst of flavor with just the right amount of heat, perfectly cooked to ensure they were tender and juicy. The BBQ wings, on the other hand, were a fantastic balance of sweetness and smokiness, making them an instant favorite at the table. Each wing was generously coated in sauce, showcasing the pub's commitment to providing a satisfying dining experience. Accompanying our wings were the peri chips, which were a standout side. Crispy and seasoned to perfection, they added a delightful kick that complemented the chicken beautifully. The skinny fries were equally impressive, offering a classic yet satisfying crunch that left us wanting more. To round out our meal, we indulged in the onion rings. These were some of the best I’ve had, with a light and crispy batter that encased perfectly cooked onions. They were the ideal accompaniment to our wings, providing a nice textural contrast. Overall, The Eight Bells pub exceeded my expectations with its delicious offerings and friendly service. Whether you're looking for a casual meal with friends or a cozy night out, this pub is definitely worth a visit. I can't wait to return and explore more of their menu!

Went for Sunday lunch. Got a very friendly welcome. Food is excellent. Staff are great. The pub is very cosy Prawn Cocktail (exactly as you would expect) Broccoli and Stilton soup was very tasty and very hot. Beef roast dinner and Pork roast dinner. Loads of meat on both, served with mash, roast potatoes, carrots, cabbage, cauliflower, peas, Yorkshire pudding, gravy. All correctly cooked and served hot. Didnt have dessert as we were both full (wife even left some dinner)

Meals for three of us. Three fork fulls in and Found this in my chips £24 worth of food straight in the bin. Should have known as it was quiet for a Satirday tea time.

I ordered a portion of nachos with my pizza. Supposed to feed two people but it was just a handful although we couldn’t test that theory because what was delivered was a charred pile of garbage. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Stunning building.. beautiful interior and friendly staff. It was a hot day so the beer garden was full .
