We booked this pub for a small family meet-up, having chosen it at random after an internet search. What a brilliant find it was!! Debbie was an astoundingly friendly and welcoming host, who, despite being very busy was happy to join in with a bit of chat and banter with a great sense of humour. We chose the pub based upon its varied, interesting but broadly, simple pub food menu and we were not disappointed. Everyone in our group had an amazing meal, with several commenting on their fabulous dishes. Our initial reaction on being shown to our table, was that the decor and ambiance was a bit cold. However, within a matter of minutes things hotted up as the pub got fuller and fuller and we appreciated the buzzing, lively atmosphere created by dozens of locals! Because it was so busy food service was a little slow and slightly chaotic with not all the meals arriving together. However apologies were quickly forthcoming and this hiccup didn’t detract from the evening. The final bonus was the bill - very sensible prices, making a family celebration to remember. Many thanks

A highlight of our 6-week vacation visiting family. I reached out on Messenger to book a table for Fathers Day. They managed to squeeze our large group in for an early sitting. We received the warmest welcome on arrival. The waitress was brilliant, and the food was exceptional.... the best meal out in 6 weeks for value, presentation and taste, along with the friendly and intimate ambiance. Highly recommend this little gem!

Wow !!! What a gem of a place this lovely family run traditional country pub is. My husband and I visited at lunch time on one of the first sunny days we’ve had recently. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed warmly. We sat outside and then the glorious Mel came to take our order and what a delightful, cheerful lovely lady she is. She’s a credit to the pub as are all the staff. I had Lasagne with salad and divine chips and hubby had one of the days specials ,plaice with buttered capers. He said it’s the best pub meal he’s had in a long time. The food was absolutely delicious and its home cooked. The setting is just a lovely quiet spot and we can’t wait to go back to this treasure of a place.Superb.

Such a lovely country pub. We booked a table late on for Sunday lunchtime and the landlord and lady couldn’t have been more helpful. The food was delicious. Wow!!! We have just eaten at the Horseshoe Inn and can honestly say, we have never had such a delicious meal anywhere; not even in some of the four star hotels we've stayed in. Everything was perfect - friendly, lovely staff, hot plates and fantastic food! My partner had the braised steak, which came with generous portions of fresh veg - cabbage, swede and carrot mash, peas, cauliflower and, also, lots of golden, crisp chips. He said the beef just melted in the mouth. I had the lasagne, which came with a basket of tasty chips and a fresh salad, which even had orange and grapes in. 😋 Everything was piping hot and stayed that way until the final mouthful. We were really full but decided we just HAD to sample the homemade desserts. My partner had lemon drizzle sponge and custard, which he said was light and tangy. I had homemade Bailey's cheesecake. Oh my goodness! It was so creamy and light and you could actually taste the alcohol in it. Just YUM!!! We will definitely be visiting the Horseshoe Inn again and would recommend it to anyone, without hesitation. If you decide to visit, don't forget to book though as, by the time we left, it was very busy.

We'll presented food and really tastey. Well worth the stop and will definitely call again to try the rest of the menu. One thing to take note. I used to frequent the horseshoe often and recently visited after lockdown as it is now under new ownership. The previous owners (charles and mary) always had a good group of regulars who were never any trouble and certainly liked a good socialise and drink , although on first impressions i wouldn’t have thought many will be now returning at £4.35 for a pint of carling! (This is not the swetenham arms!).On my second, off chance visit on a nice spring evening me and the wife were told a table was available on the patio which we were greatful for. As this was a nice evening and we weren’t allowed to sit inside we were happy. We sat down ordered our drinks (at 6pm) and were given a menu (by the female owner) to order food. As we were looking through the menu to order some food a (what i can assume from the conversation heard over the hedge) friend pulled up on a horse and cart (for the purpose of this conversation lets call them th) and enquired about a table been available. Within 5 minutes of wanting to order some food the male owner came over to us and said our table was now booked at. 6.30! Needless to say after settling in for a few drinks and an evening meal our plans were immediateley pulled from under our feet! We duly (by 6.30!) left. If thats how you want to treat your customers then good luck with your new venture, you will need it!

I would give this pub zero stars if possible. This is quite possibly the worst pub I have ever been to. We visited today and ordered two cokes and a latte, the coke was so flat it was diabolical. We told them and they tried to rectify the problem, however they were still completely flat!! My husband then asked for a blackcurrant and soda, again completely flat as a pancake! We got so fed up he asked for a latte and instead of changing this after all the inconvenience, they made my husband pay another £1.50! I would never write a bad review unless we had a terrible experience, but this was such a disappointment after we had such a lovely day. If you want a flat drink and rubbish service, then this is the place! Other pubs in the area, so be wise and visit these instead and dont make our mistake.

On entering the atmosphere was cosy and friendly. Our table was laid out ready with festive tableware and Christmas crackers. A lovely lady (the owner) greeted us warmly and told us our meals were on the way. Each course was amazing, piping hot, home cooked food. Some of our party had Xmas puds that the chef actually came out with a flaming ladle of brandy and poured it on. A very unique experience I think. The staff were brilliant and considering it was very busy our every need was attended to. Well done horseshoe and staff. We shall be visiting every year from now on. We were a group of 10, so we ordered our food a few days before we got there. We sat outside, which could have done with a bit of a tidy up, although i don't think they were expecting us to sit out there. Food was nice, although the accompanying salads were bit odd...grapes, orange, kiwi...lettuce, tomato, cucumber...are you a fruit salad or a normal salad, make your mind up!

We’ve eaten here a few times good has been consistently good, tasty and value for money. There is a great little play area for the kids and a large car park opposite the pub. Booking is advised on the weekend as it gets really busy!

We visited for evening mid week dinner, unfortunately all tables inside were reserved but plenty of space in the hidden garden. Warm and friendly welcome on arrival albeit I was a bit put off by the guard of honour from local workmen sitting each side of the entrance to the pub swearing even though we had young children, I appreciate it was a lovely evening but just sit to one side rather than make customers walk down the middle!!

Party of 12 on a Saturday evening after a day of walking. Luckily had pre-booked because took quite a bit of finding as the sat-nav deposited us in the middle of nowhere and sheer luck took us in the right direction. The pub itself is on a corner at a T-junction of thin country lanes and even getting into the car park take initiative but the welcome from the hosts was very warm and personable. We were a little late and having pre-ordered the kitchen got on with our requirements.

A friendly country pub with good beer and excellent food. Has an old worldly feel about it and is well worth a visit

Lovely home made food. Nothing is too much trouble. Welcoming owners and very cosy - always a pleasure to visit.

Both had a Sunday dinner, roast potatoes were more like boiled, never seen a roasting tin or any oil, a dish of vegetables arrived, cabbage was mushy, carrots were definitely recycled. Only plus was the food was piping hot, would definitely not recommend sorry

This was a first time visit as a family group Was a bad customer experience journey as asked for a table of six - a young girl asked her colleague if they was a table of 6 where she rudely answered her colleague and pointed to her to seat us over there - where we was directed to so we sat down we explained we were waiting for 2 members to join us. Table set for 6 we were there for 10-15 mins when then we was told quite rudely that this table is booked . We were then told we could sit at another table which seem like a function room where we were those the only people in menus more of less thrown at us no place settings lights off so dim and dark. And cold Decided after being treated as thou we were an inconvenience and made to feel very uncomfortable we left but I did mention why we was leaving with the staff and look like the manager was there when I was saying first time in the pub and certainly the last had the girl arguing saying you said 4 and it was my fault more of less take or leave it. Shame as the food and pub was on recommendation- As Robinsons pub are always are a good but Wow what rude staff

We found this lovely pub a couple of months ago and we’ve now returned a few times for food. The staff are always welcoming & friendly, and we thoroughly enjoy the homemade food, and the Sunday roasts. We love the steak & ale pie, chicken tikka masala & the lasagne. The location is also beautiful.

We had a great lunch. Steph was a fantastic serving, very chatting and friendly but respectful of our business meeting.
