Dog friendly and with mostly good friendly staff. The beer is standard Marsden fare. The food however was terrible; burnt, dry, gristly. I wouldn't recommend visiting for anything other than a drink and then only if you like the more old fashioned beers.

Had a lovely stop here last night in our campervan - stop over free when you eat/drink in the pub. Food was great, lots of options, drinks good, staff lovely, and it felt like the pub was a home for the community which felt nice. Will visit again for sure. Any motorhomes or campervans see parking info, plus you need to book ahead.

I had a tasty gammon steak with two fried eggs. The coffee is filter style. I thought the atmosphere could have benefitted if there had been fewer dogs, but the ample parking areas are adjacent to a canal and a wooded area with paths, so dog owners will only be encouraged. Plenty of outdoor seating also. A very felicitous location.

We live on a narrowboat and thought we would try this pub as we were moored close by. We ordered Ultimate Southern Fried Chicken Burgers (I had jalapenos as an extra which really added to the dish). Food was served lovely and hot, very fresh, extra tasty, great fries- couldn’t fault it whatsoever. Drinks were great too and prices are very reasonable. The pub itself feels like a real, proper pub with friendly, hardworking staff and very nice locals. Everything very clean and well looked after. Great ambience- very relaxing visit. Thank you to all of the staff for a great meal and drinks- we will definitely be back when we are next moored here.

Was looking forward to coming back as we had a great time here when visited 2 years ago. The staff were friendly and helpful. I had the lighter lunch of fish and chips which was very nice. However my husband ordered the rump steak, medium rare, and swopped his peas for mushrooms due to an intolerance. His steak was well done, his mushrooms were awful and his chips were cold. The front of house staff did offer to replace with new meal but we wanted to eat our meals together not separately. Frankly his meal was inedible. A full refund was provided for his meal and also a complimentary pint of beer.

It would seem my post got overwritten with ‘nothing to share’ so to correct I wrote that my food was only Luke warm and the chicken didn’t have any chili taste. The beer is always good and never had a poor drink of beer at the Broughton , this time my mate and me had sausage and mash because I had had this once before and it was then really good , this time I am afraid it was not very good the sausages seemed over cooked (not burnt though) and the gravy had a greasy taste to it which we both picked up on . The sweet desert was very good , the waitress was very polite and professional . We have no problem going back for a meal here but it won’t be sausage and mash .

Firstly, the staff were excellent. This is not an indication of their performance. Very friendly and welcoming. But, for a 4pm Sunday booking, to have no roast dinner option was very disappointing. I ordered a vegetarian option, cauliflower cheese tart, which when it eventually arrived looked dry and like it been bought from Lidl or even somewhere cheaper! It was neither very cauliflowery or cheesy! However the meal came with gravy! Was it vegetarian gravy? Don’t know. The food took so long to arrive we considered leaving and going somewhere else. We all agreed that next time, we will. Addendum… To reply to the response below from the Brought Arms, we arrived at 4pm, the pub and restaurant are were both virtually empty. I saw that was the case because we were initially seated in the restaurant area with a clear view of outside, before being moved into the bar as I had my dog with me. There was NO ONE in the restaurant area at that time and a couple tables occupied outside. At 5pm? Only a few people had come in. While you may been busy earlier in the day, to claim it was busy at the time we were there is simply not true. And if the pub were as busy as you claim, while the wait could have been excused, it is still NO excuse for sub standard food and serving gravy with a vegetarian meal. The star rating is still deserved. Oh, and while I’m at it, a proper apology would have been better welcomed than a defensive response full of excuses and falsehoods.

Quite disappointed that although they serve food till 7 o'clock, at 4 o'clock (and we had booked), that there were no roast dinners left, a bit unusual for a Sunday? My wife and I are regular visitors and we are never disappointed with both the food and excellent friendly staff. However the manager has just exceeded our expectations. We had booked a table earlier this week and on the day the manager took time to phone us to warn us that after a very busy weekend there were several menu items not available. She explained that a delivery was expected that day but it could arrive after the time we had booked and that would result in a reduced number of items available. We thanked her and this gave us the opportunity to rebook for the following day. We then enjoyed our visit as always with great customer service and food. Thank you and well done

Pass this place all the time and thought I’d pop in with my daughter who’s fussy and 15! It’s a lovely little place, got in no problem, the food was absolutely amazing and not too badly priced, they do do vouchers and I did have one but was unable to use it as the food I ordered wasn’t on the mains menu. There is a good selection of food and all that I saw come past me looked and smelled amazing. We only had to wait about 20 minutes for the food to arrive, my daughter had scampi and chips and I did ask for no tartare sauce but it still came with it (no big issue as it was in a little pot) and I had a Philly steak baguette with onions and both dishes came with fries. Absolutely amazing, food red hot and a good amount to say it came off the lunch menu. My daughter loved her scampi and fries and peas - which I was happy about and I loved mine also. So why the 4 stars and not 5? The staff lacked something. I’m not sure if they were understaffed or not but they didn’t have time to talk to ANYBODY, not me, not an old guy who asked for a half of his favourite. The staff were constantly on the move (probably not their fault) and even when me and my daughter left we didn’t even get a ‘goodbye’ or ‘Thankyou’ which you’d normally receive from other restaurants or bars or any shop that sells something. It wouldn’t put me off going again and I’d highly recommend it but can’t give it 5 stars and rank it with my other favourite 5 star restaurants. *also a lovely little canal out the back with narrow boats moored up, very pretty.

Disappointed as first-time visitors after seeing so many Good reviews!!! Our food was nothing better than mediocre. Our incentive to visit was the 30% off voucher, as otherwise prices are too high for what you get!! Another reason was the predominantly Good reviews. My scampi was just about okay, the chips were bland and tasteless and the peas were hard. My partner said her ultimate veggie burger was bland and tasteless. Her matchstick fries were okay however. The pub was very busy when we there and our wait time was 30 minutes which is still okay. Location is pleasant by a canal, but still nothing really special. The interior including decoration and furniture, however, is very nice. Also good choice of lagers as they stock our 2 favourites but the prices are expensive. I have just cancelled a future booking

Myself and my husband and our Springer Spaniel were here 25th June and what a wonderful meal we had! The treatment by the staff was very good indeed, friendly and extremely helpful and also chatty, which always makes for a friendlier atmosphere. We ordered the Scampi, fries and garden peas for one and a Roast chicken and grilled bacon with tomato and salad pieces inside the beautiful crispy white toast club sandwich with fries for the other ( with a bit of the roast chicken for the dog.) What was lovely was the club didn't have cheese in it! Not everyone is a cheese lover. With a pint each to accompany the meal, it came to around £24 which we thought was excellent value for money. None of it was greasy thank goodness and the fries were crispy on the outside but soft inside which was just perfect for dipping into the tartare and also tomato sauces. Lovely gesture were the jugs of clean water and also clean bowls for the dogs to have a cool drink. Makes a change from some pubs where the dogs bowl is alive with pond life and algae from never being washed. Certainly recommend this lovely pub for a meal, especially after walking along the towpath along the Trent and Mersey canal. That cooling drink was certainly worth walking for!

Been going to this pub for years, however I don't know if I'm correct but I wonder if it's changed hands since covid? The food know where near as good as it used to be, portion size has also reduced too, the only thing that's gone up is it's prices, and this includes drinks 3bears and pint of water £18.75, bizarly in my town center just down the road thus would have cost me £12....it's a shame because I like the place, I really do, and the staff are fantastic.... But my review is not based on my views, on walking out my farther and relitives all said it's not as good as it used to be? So it wasn't just me that was thinking it...

What a very pleasant young lady the bar was quite busy but Steph took time out to acknowledge we were waiting and served us when our turn came around she was really knowledgeable regarding the different kind of drinks on offer and explained where we could sit as some tables had been reserved. Just fancied a last minute roast yesterday. Racked our brains to find out what was close. Read some reviews of the Egerton Arms. Been going there for years whilst working at a local care home, but not been in a long time. Managed to get a table for 3 at 2:30pm (plus our dog!). Quick service, excellent menu. Ordered 3x roast dinners. Wow!! I had the roast chicken and it was fabulous. Piping hot, fresh and so tasty. Amazing portion size with veg on the side as well. For £16.95 as well there are no complaints. I've paid £20 elsewhere and been nowhere near as good! We will be back, absolutely no doubt about that. Well done guys. Keep it up!!
