Came to the Bears head today to meet some friends for drinks we were greeted by Steph when we arrived. What a very pleasant young lady the bar was quite busy but Steph took time out to acknowledge we were waiting and served us when our turn came around she was really knowledgeable regarding the different kind of drinks on offer and explained where we could sit as some tables had been reserved. This was a really pleasant experience in a nice atmosphere.

We have been coming to the Bears Head for years and although it can be a bit hit and miss regarding the experience it has generally been OK. However, I don't if its changed ownership or they just cant get the staff but my last experience was appalling and also our family's last ever visit. We waited over 20 minutes before anyone came to the table to acknowledge our existence, the glasses were dirty, still bearing the lipstick of the previous owner. When we asked for clean glasses they were taken away and returned...still dirty. The food was inedible, with exception to the broccoli, which was the only thing that was cooked properly. The roast potatoes were so greasy that they became mush as soon as put my fork in them, the mash seemed to have been microwaved to the extreme, the cauliflower was sitting in water and completely tasteless. One member of staff, a young lad, seemed so disinterested in being there, it was almost comical. Sad to say, we will not be returning and an association that has lasted almost 20 years has come to an end.

The Bear's Head is our go-to place for a good, reasonably priced meal. Our waitress was Megan, who we haven't met before. However, she took our order accurately and the food came out as we had requested. Husband ordered the burger, which was exceptional. I ordered the chicken parmigiana which was lush. Thank you Alex.👨🍳. I finished with the mini blackberry and apple crumble with a pot of tea. Really lovely meal with great service all round. Probably be back again next week!

Food was okay nothing great. Service truly awful, tables not cleared and staff seemed overwhelmed with number of people. Had 2 pints of neck oil which were fine, the 3rd was not neck oil for sure. They told me barrel been changed and pulled another pint of fizzy tasteless lager, I complained again and they told me I was wrong and made me feel like and idiot for questioning them. Clearly selected wrong barrell in the cellar.

Service got from bad to worse. Slow check in, then showed to appalling table not cleaned with hard seats by draughty fire exit, yet another case of ageist attitude, as next much younger couple to arrive given larger table with softer seats. Informed there was only bar service, but by now I'd had enough and made a sharp exit.

We often eat here, but on this last occasion, they excelled themselves. Pubs have really lifted their game, and the food we had was better than any restaurant I've been in. The Moroccan Chicken kebab was so tasty, and the home made slaw and triple cooked chips were fabulous. I also like the informality of being able to order at the bar, and the place has a nice feel. I can't think of anything they could have done better.

Food was nice although maybe a bit overcooked, Hot drinks quite expensive. Unfortuantley we had to chase our drinks up 2 or 3 times and they took about 20 minutes to arrive if not longer and in the end they came at the same time as the food, wasn't ideal. I understand it was Fathers Day but it really wasn't that busy considering. I think maybe the staff member behind the bar was new and needed more help. Kids breakfast menu was limited and poor , why arent pancakes on the kids menu? Also the extras such as sausage hash brown or bacon are very expensive. For a meal that cost us nearly £100 the time and service was poor.

Where do I start...Not enough staff so even getting served at the bar is annoying but not because there were lots of people in front of me but just because there is no dedicated bar staff. Ordered a Moroccan chicken kebab and sure enough a skewer arrived 45 minutes later which was as dry as it gets whilst still edible with 4 pieces of wilted cress in an attempt to brighten up the unappealing dish. Side dish of hummus and pitta. Hummus scraped round plate as some sort of failed cheffy touch. Pitta rock hard. Clearly it been left on hot plate as hummus had skinned over. My son ordered a burger which was exactly that...a burger in a bun with some skinned over dip and luke warm fries. In short this place takes on more than it can handle and the result is sub standard food and service. As a business owner I would be embarrassed to provide this level of service to my customers. I would of complained had there been anyone about to complain to. Never again and feel totally ripped off by this shambolic excuse for a pub serving food.

The quality has certainly declined since the refurbishment. We've visited twice, and on both occasions, the food took an extraordinarily long time to arrive. On our first visit, we waited about thirty minutes only to be informed that our chosen dish was unavailable. We then opted for a halloumi kebab, which eventually arrived with just two pieces of halloumi. On our second visit, we had to chase up our fish and chips after waiting for about 45 minutes, only to be told, "sorry, we accidentally gave it to another table." When it finally arrived some 20 minutes later, they had run out of tartare sauce. Had we known about the sauce situation beforehand, we probably would have ordered something else, as tartare sauce is an important part of enjoying fish and chips. We should have been informed, rather than them just putting our food down and hoping that we wouldn't notice.

Absolutely shocking service, do not recommend to anyone attempting to eat here. We booked a table at The Bears Head in Sandbach and was really looking forward to a nice meal. Upon arrival into the restaurant, we waited at the bar to be seated. We was told that we would be seen by a lady soon, who’ll take our order from us. We was not long after approached and had our drinks order taken by our waitress. However, 30 minutes after ordering the drinks hadn’t yet arrived.. I asked the waitress 3 times about the drinks and got told every time “I’ll check”. There was also tables around us that had been waiting 45 minutes - 1.5hrs for food. After 30 minutes, I went up to the bar and seen the drinks we ordered sat on a table and bar staff just stood around the bar.. the manager apologised and he mentioned that he would pass feedback on. We then asked to order food 4 times, 3 times to the same waitress and was told each time “I’ll be with you in a sec”. There was a table that turned up 40 minutes after us, they was ready to take food and the waitress knew we had been waiting a lot longer and proceeded to take their order. After 50 minutes of waiting, we had no option but to leave ordering any food and to try and find an alternative somewhere else - which at 9pm isn’t easy! We requested the bill for the drink a further 3 times and was told “give me a sec” every time… After the 60 minutes, I went again up-to the bar to see the waitress stood talking when I had already asked her 3 times for the bill for the drinks. I am really really not impressed with the service, this restaurant has huge potential and is a gorgeous layout/very cleanliness. However, the service is just absolutely shocking and needs sorting ASAP….

Slow and over cooked on this occasion - but will go again because I know they can be so much better than today. To be fair - it is a bank holiday Monday and we did book at peak time so this is not overly negative, just accurate I hope. 2 + 1/2 hours for main course and desert is slow - most of that time spent waiting to order or waiting for the order to be delivered - lamb skewer was over done and dry. Shout out to Kirstyn who ran the dining area single handedly it seemed, as best as she could and with a smile - unfortunately not backed up by the rest of the team today. The whole experience points towards short comings in the kitchen - but not one to point fingers. As stated, unusually poor visit today - but will go again, maybe avoiding peak demand times. Don't go if you have a problem with dogs in the same space as you are dining, although not allowed in the dining area, and you can opt for 'dining area' or Dog friendly' but there were 12 of them in the adjoining space today, all well behaved and fairly quiet but for a few moments you should expect in a country pub.

Unfortunately we were disappointed with the quality of our Sunday dinner. The potatoes were hard and black. All the vegetables tasted old like they had been reheated or kept warm for hours. The whole meal did not taste fresh. The beef was hard work to eat with all the gristle. The crackling was completley soft and the pork meat had a strange taste to it. It's a long time since we have been so disappointed with our meals, made worse by the fact we paid £50 for 2 Sunday dinners, half a pint of Peroni and a ginger beer. You wouldn't think the Bears head was part of the same group as th Three Crowns in Stone. We have never had a bad meal there.

The whole visit (for a relatives birthday)was not good. Availability of both food and drink was awful. Only one bitter on draught, and more food options seemed to be unavailable than available (my first, second, and third choice starters were unavailable - the pate only being notified as unavailable about 25 minutes after we ordered). No roast pork or roast beef available. I ended up having the pie - the pastry was as hard as iron, and the filling was like mush (it was like the pie had been heated, then cooled, then heated, then cooled, then heated again. Drinks orders for top ups were then delivered incorrectly and way too long after ordered - we sent them back and told them to cancel the order, but they still showed on the final bill. Frankly - the service was horrendous, and the food was barely better. We have been frequent visits to this pub over many years, but since the refurbishment / rebrand the service an food has gone markedly downhill. The employees seem surly and don't seem to care. We will not be returning.

The atmosphere has changed quite a lot since I was here a few year's ago. It used to be a place where you could go for a quiet meal. But we were deafened by the rowdy groups in. All talking very loudly, and laughing very loudly too. We couldn't hear our selves talk! The food was very expensive for a quick bite to eat. Which was commented on, by my guest from Norfolk! £27 for a 7oz steak!! There wasn't really a anything on the new menu that a fancied. So I ended up having the Chicken Schnitzel! Not sure what to expect! The side salad was not worth the bother! I had oven french fries instead of unpeeled chips! And the chicken dish was weird looking! Like a small squashed pizza in bread crumbs...hard. I had to ask for a steak knife. Tasty but had to chew! A very small meal that didn't fill the plate! It just looked mean. All for over £17 !!! No where as good as it once was.

After a busy week we decided to treat ourselves to dinner out. The Lord Combermere did not disappoint. We are a family of 4 and the staff were friendly and accommodating to us all. The children’s menu doubles as a colouring sheet which kept them busy whilst we looked at the menu. Our food came and was piping hot, absolutely delicious and very well presented. The portion sizes are very generous, especially the children’s, making it excellent value for money. Very attentive, helpful waitresses who advised us on which dishes were most popular etc. The dining area looks fantastic and had a lovely atmosphere. Can’t wait to return…

We always order from here and never usually have any issues. But unfortunately tonight we were disappointed. £36 order. All cold, even though only round the corner so can't blame driver. Item missing (sauce) so sweet and sour chicken balls with no sweet and sour sauce. Chips dry as a bone. Gutted.

I had a tasty gammon steak with two fried eggs. The coffee is filter style. I thought the atmosphere could have benefitted if there had been fewer dogs, but the ample parking areas are adjacent to a canal and a wooded area with paths, so dog owners will only be encouraged. Plenty of outdoor seating also. A very felicitous location.
