The food was amazing and worth the wait. We were a group of four friends meeting for lunch. When we arrived we were the only diners in the restaurant but noticed several customers in the bar and more diners arrived before we left which made the atmosphere more homely. We sat by the window and were able to watch the boats moving along the canal. Altogether we had a lovely meal and chat with friends and would go there again.

Our first visit for a meal and enjoyed excellent tasty food. I had beautifully cooked fish, chips and peas served with homemade tartar sauce and a fresh, crisp mixed side salad. husband declared chicken schnitzel delicious. Friendly welcoming service. Atmosphere marked as 4 as our visit was on a very quiet Tues evening but will visit on a different day next time we go. I'm sure it won't be too long either before we're back!

We found this lovely pub a couple of months ago and we’ve now returned a few times for food. The staff are always welcoming & friendly, and we thoroughly enjoy the homemade food, and the Sunday roasts. We love the steak & ale pie, chicken tikka masala & the lasagne. The location is also beautiful.

Much prefer the steaks here to the ones at the Swan at Marbury or the Combermere Arms, cooked absolutely to perfection every time. A full five stars to the chef. A criminally sometimes overlooked canalside pub with terrific staff. Highly recommended!

The roast dinner looked great on delivery. Food soon went cold. Roast beef was full of stringy fat and difficult to cut. Broccoli and green beans were flash cooked and rock solid. If you eat quickly then the rest of the meal is still hot and good. It’s disappointing to visit an eatery and be served substandard meals. Sorry to be negative but warm the plates, cook the vegetables properly, use beef which is good quality and provide knives which can cut your product.

Very unimpressed. Asked for a fairly well done steak. It arrived black with the tomatoes, onion rings and mushrooms similarly overdone. The chips were covered in excessive amounts of salt and were hard to eat. The chicken schnitzel had a similar feeling, the chicken overdone and the chips loaded with salt. On the plus side the chicken tikka masala was good and the service was prompt and attentive. Easily the worst meal on our canal boat holiday. We did complain and were given a relatively small reduction in price. Won't be going here again.

I ordered the salmon and crushed potatoes, no part of the meal was edible. The salmon was overcooked and extremely salty, the red cabbage was way too sweet, the carrot was cold, the broccoli hard, the potatoes were sitting below an inexplicable mushroom sauce which was disgusting.

On a boating holiday along the Llangollen Canal, reserved a table for 8pm then arrived two hours earlier than expected! Pre-meal drink on board, freshen up and then arrived an hour earlier than booked - not a problem! The young staff were courteous and attentive and did everything they could to make our visit (four adults and a dog) as pleasant as possible - they succeeded. Starters, main courses and desserts all arrived in good time, were delicious and went down a treat! (The boat may be lower than before once we get back on board!) In short, a dog friendly and atmospheric pub serving excellent food and a good selection of beers, ciders and spirits - thoroughly recommended (and intend to visit again in the future, although next time arriving by car!) Photo shows the Artic Slice Special - we were too busy enjoying our food to photograph it! 🤣

Beautiful location, our local so we were excited to try it out. We were disappointed :( Staff were friendly and very quick to serve but the food was very disappointing. We had the honey mustard sausages which were dry and chewy and served on a bed of salad?? So they tasted like lettuce. Halloumi fries were okay👌🏻 We ordered lamb shanks for main and it was definitely like a school dinner. Veg was bland, overpowered with mint gravy. The lamb itself was moist but everything else was poor.

We were here a couple of months ago for a Su day lunch and it was amazing. I reviewed it in my local community page in Nantwich & people said they didn’t know it was so good as they’d never had a decent meal there. The chef and the new owner joined the conversation. & said it had changed hands. Today that same Sunday lunch was really not good at all ! We all had a roast chicken & trimmings. Not very hot I left all my chicken. Not cooked enough and impossible to cut. Plenty of potatoes ~ a lump of Yorkshire pudding and too much gravy. The broccoli was yellowing & the food not hot. So disappointing. I shan’t go back which is a shame because I love the location. But the meal was rubbish !

Great canal side pub. Ideal for boaters, walkers and just about everyone. Pub decor is bright and airy plus clean and tidy. The room overlooking the canal is an ideal dinning area. The bar area is central to both rooms and has a range of craft beers as well. For smokers there is a open area with chairs, tables and umbrellas. And this could be a wonderful place to sit for all on a warm and sunny day. Staff were welcoming and friendly and dealt with my needs efficiently. Food is reasonably priced. It is served piping hot and laid out well on the platter. Plus the veg was hot crispy and not soggy and soft like some places. Good portions which make you feel satisfied. Overall a pleasant visit to the Dusty Miller was enjoyed by me and well worth the money.

Although in a lovely spot we were very disappointed. 2 of us ordered small fish and chips, and when it arrived the food looked very unappetising, the chips were a very dark brown colour almost mahogany, and really soggy and floppy . We sent them back and we were offered some more, which were exactly the same. The fish very greasy. A poor meal to be honest. The oil used obviously needs changing, when chips go that colour is because the oil is dirty, it doesn't get to the right temperature so won't crisp the chip or the fish. We ended up leaving nearly all of the chips. So disappointed. Not what it used to . It was very quiet for a Sunday nobody inside, now I know why.

Booked a party here way back in January, had the special day planned with head chef Jay ,only for a day before event told of changes because of this most of my decorations I had brought were left in the staff toilet and never used kristina manager- incredibly rude went back on her word regarding plans for venue, made a bucket full of excuses when confronted day later. There's was no apology ..nothing ,instead she had barred my partner who now and again would pop in there for a coup he wasn't even there through the day after discussion ! honestly never seen a manager like her incredibly lazy and just dosnt give a toss about what had happened, all about the cash no enthusiasm or charisma . Couldn't even have my playlist played because that was a inconvenience! Just unbelievable, I gave a star for the service as the only two members of staff did there best, terrible wish I would of gone elsewhere but I know for next time,I am currently looking into taking this matter further as I'm truly disgusted (our guests even wanted to complain) how embarrassing. Food came out incredibly late we were all starving just put anywhere as I ordered a buffet style Sunday type lunch for everyone ,no utensils to pick food up with only forks to eat food with unitl 10 minutes later the knifes arrived . Superb, picturesque setting for a pub; located by the Llangollen canal. Tasty food cooked, presented and served well by cheery staff. Great ambience…clearly a well managed pub that is at the heart of the local community. We enjoyed some of the Sunday roast meals….one Veg and one Chicken…both delicious and cooked onsite by their chef with what appears to be locally sourced ingredients. We enjoyed their great service as well…nothing was too much trouble. We came all the way from Manchester…but can’t wait to return with whole family, especially in the summer so we can enjoy chilling in the outside seating area also.

A very disappointing experience , all 4 of us ate from the Xmas menu , 2 of us had turkey , 2 of us had the pork loin , all 4 meals were mediocre , vegetables were barely warm , the mash was uninspiring , hardly any gravy , we asked for cranberry and got it well over 10 minutes later , we all had pudding , the quality street element of the quality street cheesecake .. was literally a wrapped quality street on top of a slice of cheesecake !! The coffee was honestly the worst tasting coffee I have ever had 1 sip of .. the accompanying mince pie was so small it was gone in one gulp ..and it didn’t end there , they were clearly short staffed but none of the staff were friendly or efficient … we had to chase them to order puddings , to finish clearing the table and then to actually pay .. I can’t say the landlady set a great example… she was sitting drinking at the bar and then no-where to be seen when we complained !! We will most definitely not be returning !!

Drove past with my girlfriend and we thought it looked like a nice place so turned around and popped in. Its very warm and welcoming with very friendly staff. Was intrigued by the specials board and so we both decided we would have some food as well as a drink. I have to say the food was definitely up there with the best we have had while dinning together. We will 100 percent be back soon such a hidden gem. Unfortunately we didnt take any photos of the food as was to busy enjoying every mouthful.

Both had a Sunday dinner, roast potatoes were more like boiled, never seen a roasting tin or any oil, a dish of vegetables arrived, cabbage was mushy, carrots were definitely recycled. Only plus was the food was piping hot, would definitely not recommend sorry

Came to the Bears head today to meet some friends for drinks we were greeted by Steph when we arrived. What a very pleasant young lady the bar was quite busy but Steph took time out to acknowledge we were waiting and served us when our turn came around she was really knowledgeable regarding the different kind of drinks on offer and explained where we could sit as some tables had been reserved. This was a really pleasant experience in a nice atmosphere.
