The best restaurants serving British food in North West

I recently visited The Letters in Tattenhall whilst meeting up with friends during the Easter bank holiday weekend. Came across this quaint little Pub which actually looks like a proper pub. I arrived early and was pleased to see the football was on and as it wasn’t too busy I was able to enjoy my drink whilst watching the match. Unfortunately the afternoon went downhill rather quickly due to a very large family arriving. They brought in their own beer and pop and whatever else they had which were given back to them when they left. I would have thrown them down the sink. The children were very unruly and unsupervised. I found they were very rude and cocky towards the staff. I can only presume the reviews below were from them and not very truthful in what was said. Once this family had left, the atmosphere changed in the pub to how it was previously the dining rooms were full within the hour. Evening entertainment commenced with karaoke which amazing and was great to see the majority of the customers joining in. We ended up spending the whole evening making great new friends. Amazing place and will definitely return.

My friend and I popped in on our lunch break for a mug of tea. We shared New York baked cheesecake and chocolate brownie. They were both delicious. We have had the lovely scones on previous visits, and they come served warm.

Lovely experience. Went in for late lunch before going to see a concert. The food and service were excellent. I had the short braised ribs, which were fantastic.

A sprawling grand pub in West Didsbury, very busy on a Bank Holiday Monday..Nice choice of beers, friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Its an imposing marvellous pub

Food was great, the ambiance was wonderful. Service could be a bit better, and the @ the table ordering system had some bugs which made the experience a bit troublesome. Would go back!

Was delayed by half an hour and also Yorkshire puddings were missing but otherwise lovely

Booked in here for Mother's Day dinner. We've been before and been delighted with the drinks and ales on offer. Time to check out the food - we weren't disappointed. The Mackrel paté and the Koren chicken starters really impressed us. Everyone was happy with the mains too, which were all generously portioned. I had a Sticky Toffee Pudding afterwards which was great. On this occasion the ales were missing a bitter, which was disappointing- too many IPA/Pale Ale types for me. Still quality stuff, just not my taste. As a booked in customer you can use the car park and they give you the code to release the exit barrier after your visit. Staff were brillaint and very attentive. Everything happened on time, like clock work. Great atmosphere. Booking in advance recommended. We didn't stay in the rooms - we live close by.

Our favourite hotel when we're flying out from Manchester. Dinner as always was brilliant as was our breakfast. Lovely seeing all of the staff again. The service is always impeccable, the restaurant is so clean as are the rooms, so comfortable, lovely comfy bed and so quiet. Our go to hotel. Highly recommend, thank you again see you in August x

This is a very friendly pub. We eat here quite a lot and the food and staff are wonderful. A delicious meal tonight for our table of six. We also compete in the quiz night every Wednesday. There is always a great atmosphere and it is buzzing! Would definitely recommend.

Nice gammon shame anout the chips. Had lunch yesterday gammon and chip gammon was great but the chips where awful. Peas where nuce

What a fantastic experience we had when we dined with two of our grandchildren. The environment and atmosphere is typical country Inn, serving excellent food at great prices. The staff are very attentive but not overbearing. Would recommend anyone to give it a try, I’ll bet you go back, because we will be 👍 Also, loads of parking spaces.

This is a good pub. You’re made welcome, the beer is well kept, it’s comfortable, the toilets are very clean, but most importantly the food is very good.
