This used to be such a decent pub. Ow I guess due to the price of drinks it’s always empty apart from a few days a year. Really Disappointed it’s gone like this.

Lovely place, great atmosphere. But I am sorry to say that the food wasn't good. We were served raw and cold salmon and the other dishes were not as described on the menu. Staff didn't do anything to help or compensate and we left the premises without anyone noticing, let alone saying goodbye to us.

Visiting lorry driver waiting a while to load so had a wonder into the village. Isn’t the cheapest food but you get what you pay for nowadays & this was very much worth it! Hot fresh and full of flavour. I’m a harsh critic so credit where it’s due! Great decor friendly & attentive staff! Father's day meal with my 83 Yr old dad, brother and his wife and 3 kids... ordered our food and drinks, my chicken was full of blood, not just pink.. so I politely said to the bad staff. The manager came over and checked my meal, and apologised and offered to change it, which was fine. I then ordered the lamb shank which arrived within 10 mins, very quickly.. the lamb was still cold on the underneath. As I jjow they get in vac packed meat and reheat it, I knew it hadn't been reheated to a safe temperature.. 82•c and so again returned the meal with the waitress.. she said she would inform the manager... he never came over to offer any apology or compensation, so I paid £17 for a corn on the cob... hugely disappointing to what should have been a lovely family get together... 😕

Just been for a meal at the Cock and Bottle Tarleton to say we are utterly disappointed is an understatement. My partner and I went some time ago and didnt enjoy the food. We were advised it was under new management so thought we would give it a go, we really shouldn't have bothered. Utterly shocking, poor quality food. Ordered Roast Chicken Sunday Lunch, the chicken looked and tasted like it had been boiled, never mind roasted (I boil chicken for my dogs which looks more appetising) I sent mine back to the disbelief of the waitress, granted there was no argument, she had to go and check with the manager first and I asked for either the lamb or beef. Lamb came back, thickly cut and utterly tasteless. Vegetables were watery, tasteless and unseasoned. Another order was Fish and Chips. The menu said charred lemon and chunky tartar sauce, however lemon not charred and runny sauce. The fish was like eating spoonfuls of salt and a flipflop probably would have tasted better. Absolutely appalling food quality, not cheap and a total rip off. Staff didnt bother to come and be courteous and no apologies from the management for the shameful food. I would have at the very minimum expected a manager to come to our table to apologise, but nothing, poor, poor customer service. I dont know why the management didnt consider it important are they oblivious or just nonplussed about their customers? Not one bit of the meal was worth the money. Mind you it speaks volumes when a pub is not packed at a Sunday lunchtime, there were less than 5 other people in there. The other issue is, we had telephoned the evening before to check to see if the £12.99 lunch menu was available to be told yes it was, when we got there we were told no it wasnt. Clearly a staff training issue there, know what is available and what is not. The pub urgently needs to look at the quality, ask for feedback and treat customers with respect. We shan't be going back ever again and if you value your money go somewhere else, avoid at all costs. We are not a happy family I'm afraid.

Since this pub Was taken over 8 months ago, the division phenomenal. The husband and wife team truly have turned it around. Entertainment is plenty. Manager, Danielle and her front of house team are so helpful and accommodating. But for me personally, it has to be the food. I really fancied the biggest filthiest burger they could make. Frankie, the manager and executive chef, just smiled and replied leave it to me.. Omg, what I recieved was beyond anything I expected. Absolutely gorgeous, safe to say we went home in a food coma. My advice is don't be afraid to approach this wonderful couple...5 STARS FOR ME EVERYTIME.. KEEP UP THE FABULOUS WORK GUYS AND THANKYOU X

We chose a very quiet time to visit as it happened. The server welcomed us quickly and was very pleasant. The menu was not huge but was interesting. Two course lunch for £12.99 was delicious. We will be back without a doubt.

Took my grandson for Sunday lunch and it was inedible. The meat was stringy, the veg was soggy and the potatoes hard. It came swimming in oily gravy. I would never go back again or recommend it to anyone.

I cannot believe the turn around. The food is absolutely next level. They have now got a cocktail lounge with live music.. this fabulous venue is definitely the place to visit

Service was pretty quick, had the mixed grill which was pretty good apart from the chips which were tasteless frozen ones, surley peeling a potato and making proper chips isnt that much trouble is it, really 🤔

Great venue with excellent parking. However in my opinion, the pub has issues. 1. Slow service. 2. Menu is not structured like those in the vicinity. 3. The pub screams out for service by experienced staff. 4. Every member of staff is trying their best. However, staffing shortages at strategic times do not help.

Nice decor, comfortable surroundings, if not a little chilly as also noted by the staff. (more heating please) Beer was very nice, shame I couldn't stay longer.

Great food, great atmosphere, Great comedy absolutely brilliant night from Start to finish. The pubs had its ups and down in the last few years but you can really tell the difference this time, the food was fantastic which is great as the foods been letting the venue down of late, the staff was great and the new managers really know how to put on a good night. This is going to be the place to be very soon

It’s had its fair share of problems for a while but can honestly say our food on Saturday night was lovely, couldn’t fault it, long may it continue.

Good food, good service, pleasant atmosphere. Visited a couple of times recently and the standard is still high but forgot what we had, but we'd have them again, or probably try something new nest time. Haven't tried the beers because I was driving. Easy, lit parking, easy wheelchair access from the car park. Recommend a visit to eat.

Been hearing good things so thought we would give it a go. Me & the wife had beef absolutely amazing, the kids all had burgers of the main menu and they was huge and very delicious Portion size for price is great and can’t fault anything at all

My husband and I visited on a Sunday so opted for a Roast. We usually go to another place, but came here as haven’t been for years. The building itself is greatly improved, but I have to complain that the roast beef was really tough and couldn’t be cut, let alone be chewed and swallowed. My husband left the whole lot on the plate….how they can serve it that way astonishes me! I also requested some more gravy as we only received a small amount. However I was told to go back to the till which I presume meant that we had to pay for more gravy (not enough to start with). Surely a little bit more hot water on some gravy granuals wouldn’t be too much trouble for a meal that wasn’t cheap! I was going to complain to the waitress but my husband didn’t want the grief so I have left my views of the place on here. Suffice to say we shall not be returning!!! Lost customers!!!

i went in asked for a drink which was only a j20 they wouldn’t let me have one, they started to have ago at my friends and then the managers had ago at me, not a nice experience at all wouldnt recommend won’t be going there again, kicked us out and said we are bard

Steak pie was good with decent meat in it. Veg was tasty and gravy piping hot Slightly over priced but a good meal nevertheless Children’s chicken nuggets were ok

under new management but still some way to go with their sunday lunch... would happily pay more for better quality. Really hope they get this right as Tarleton needs a place that offers a great sunday lunch, for such a big village this place should be packed but it never is... please go try local competition to see why people are travelling several miles outside of their own village to eat

We ordered the steak and it was very fatty. Chips were undercooked and the whole meal was not great. I would not return.

Really friendly Bar Manager and staff and the beer was great. The food was not so good. The cheese pie came and it was cold in the middle (rooky mistake) we sent it back and they did rectify the problem for a new one which tbf was Luke warm and by this time my husband had finished his so I put up with it l. The chips were hard and not very appealing at all my husband ate most of them and I ate the smaller ones which were almost done. All in all not great food at all which is such a shame as it’s a lovely pub but let down by the standard of food served.

Wen back to Cock and bottle because got tell by a friend had new menu . So had to go try it and all I can say is wow 🤩 it’s was amazing lamb shank best I have ever had .

Went in yesterday around 6pm. First staff member I saw behind the bar I smiled at and said hello. She looked at me and walked off! Next lass was friendly anddidn’t know the answer to my question. She asked her colleague whether they served food to take away. His answer was “No”. That was the end of the conversation. Website proclaims “an atmosphere you will love” - I suppose that’s true for people who love to be treated rudely and don’t want to feel welcome! Definitely one to avoid!

Went with my husband and father in law. I scanned the menu with my ‘phone as it had allergens listed. Not a lot if you’re coeliac? I ended up having to pick a jacket potato ( it is 2023, that’s not very imaginative) with cheese and coleslaw. As I was ordering and I’m coeliac, I asked if the cheese was grated in the kitchen or bought in, as bought in can have flour added to stop it sticking. The server came back and said it had flour in it. I had to have a jacket potato and coleslaw. That wasn’t great. When my husband’s and father in law’s came they both commented on how small the portion was and expensive. So I’d say it wasn’t great value for money ( where’s the veg with the cheese and onion pie?! ) and I’m doubtful if the menu will be changed to flag up the gluten in the cheese. There are several more imaginative competitors in the area.

Bartender asked if we wanted ice in our vodka sodas and then didn't give us any when we said yes. I've never been asked this before, I assumed it was a given, Other than that it was a standard boozer.

My partner and i wanted to try out the local pub as we were viewing houses in the area. The new manager was so welcoming, warm, kind and really informative about the area, giving us advice about schools and family days out etc... we loved chatting to him. The service was excellent - we had a standard burger and chips but it was the tastiest we've had in a long time. Dessert was lovely too and the chef came out to chat to us. The setting and interior of the pub was beautiful - right down to the toilets... we can't wait to come back and hopefully be living close by one day too. Lucy & Luke.

Very disappointed with my burger. Admittedly it was from the Light Bites menu but I expected more than this. It certainly wasn't 4oz, there was no burger sauce and bun was most definitely not gourmet or deluxe or however it was described on the menu.

The revamp is fabulous love what they have done to this place, I highly recommend the food too, a must go.😘😘

I am new to the area and was looking for somewhere me and my mum could sit and have some food after our walk. I was abit nervous as I have an anxious dog that doesn't really like being around people much. I went in beforehand and explained and the girl there was very understanding and showed us a quiet corner where we could be with him without people coming too close. I haven't taken him inside a pub for over 3 years as it's usually way too much for us both. He even took treats from one of the girls behind the bar when she brought him some water. He must have been very relaxed as I have never known him to take food off a stranger. Our food was incredible and reasonably priced. The nicest meal out I have had in some time. The pub itself is very clean and the toilets didn't feel like you were walking into toilets at all they were spotless and very nicely decorated. We both thoroughly enjoyed our visit and it made it all the better with my boy being able to join us and being so well accommodated. We will definitely be returning 🙂 Thank you for the pleasant experience from all 3 of us 😊 Revisited on Sunday 27th as a 4 + my mum's dog to have some food for my grandma's birthday. Again service was great. The manager (i think it was) even offered to move his car so that my mum could park in the car park. The food was great. I've never seen my grandma eat so much. She ordered the roast dinner and we told her to order the small as she doesn't usually eat most of it. She ate nearly all of it. And then ordered a crumble for desert and polished that off too. The rest of us ordered the sausage and mash on a Yorkshire pudding. The red onion chutney in the gravy was amazing. Thank you again for great food and service 👍 looking forward to my next visit. 🙂

Went for a meal with my dad today. Everything was fine until departure. My dads meal of Cumberland sausage was amazing hence the score. I'd ordered salt and pepper chicken chicken rocks with sweet chilli sauce. There was no chilli sauce and no salt and pepper flavouring. It was still tasty (basically just fried chicken balls) but I thought I'd tell the staff on departure so they could inform the chef for the next person. But the manager that met me at the bar was soooooo rude! Her heckles were up instantly thinking I was complaining (which I wasnt). She spoke over me, said I should've said something first but then said 'well you enjoyed it so there you go'! Waved her arm at me and walked off. She was so rude I was shocked! No apology whatsoever and just walked off. I wasn't even asking for a refund. Even the 2 staff next to her looked embarrassed. She really should not be in a customer facing role. Unbelievable. I certainly will not be going back 😒

Fantastic Sunday lunch all home cooked food and lamb cooked to my liking, staff great and if anything not quite to your taste they go out of their way to rectify it highly recommend

I love this pub and I go every week for food me and my family.the food is affordable but very nice we also had a top Christmas Dinner and have booked again for next year.the managers and staff are very helpful and friendly.

Good food at a good price no complaints

Recently visited with friends for a meal. The food didn’t arrive together. Mains arrived before starters. Two mains arrived much later than the others, leaving two members of our group waiting an unnecessary amount of time. We asked if one of the salt&pepper chicken burgers could come without the bacon on. When food arrived we asked the waitress serving if it was the one without bacon, which seems like a reasonable question to ask. The response from the waitress was “no it has bacon on”. And we was assured that she knew that there was one on the order without bacon but this wasn’t it. We didn’t appreciate being spoken to in such a rude tone by a member of staff. When the last of the food did arrive the burger in question came with the bacon on so we had to send it back to be changed. Overall the food was good (when it eventually came correct) but we won’t be returning.

Updated visit Not sure whats happened to this and service was brilliant we've been around 4 times in last 6 months, and the food has been shocking, roast dinners beyond poor, on 2 occasions. Such a shame as lovely place. Also, menus in pale colours very hard to read. Sadly we'll be not be visiting again. The old owners had a very good presentation and a very nice experience but with the new owners they updated the menu to smaller portions, lower quality and more expensive.
