Heatons Bridge in West Lancashire

Please know I visited dozens of times before writing this review. Heatons Bridge is bid disappointing, really, and has gone very much downhill lately. Less chatting by the staff and more cleaning up (especially outside) is definitely required. Staff need to remember that people go out for a good time so sulky, depressed attitudes shouldn't be the norm. Although it must be very difficult to find positive, energetic, upbeat staff in remote areas. But settling for staff that simply don't care will doom any business.

Very helpful my partner drinks cherryade and vodka they let me bring in the cherryade lovey bar staff and a really nice place garden lovely in the sun you can see the barges from the garden we only went in for drinks

A big thank you to the staff 27 of us on a walk and we were welcome to use toilets and garden benches

Popped in for a pint. Run of the mill choice of cask ales. However I did notice Theakston mild on tap, rare sight in the pubs I have been in over the last year.

Really nice little pub on the canal front! Lovely pint of Guinness! I did feel a bit like the locals were staring at me which felt a bit awkward and as if i wasn't welcome! But the staff were very friendly and nice!

Good pint on a nice walk along the canel

We walked into this pub expecting to get food as advertised on the sign outside, Food has not been available for 3 years. From the outside it looked really nice with the pub garden alongside the canal. As we entered the smell of stagnant cigarette smoke and dogs just hit our senses. It was like stepping back in time to an old world working mans pub. We couldn't leave quick enough.

I have been casual customer at Heatons Bridge for most of my life, a great British Inn with a great landlord and friendly locals.

Very friendly. Welcomed dogs. Even gave them dog biscuits. An old school pub that should be supported.

Great pub, I have been a customer here man and boy for the past 50 years, great old pub with a great atmosphere and always a warm welcome from the classic car enthusiast landlord Steve.

Nice country pub. Real ales available and an open fire. Low ceiling with exposed beams. Called in on a Wednesday evening, quite busy and a good atmosphere. Beer was reasonable @£4.10

Lovely rural pub, friendly staff and great atmosphere

Driven past this one many times so it was time I tried it out and what a pub! Great ale and very friendly. Highly recommend 👌

Signs outside say food then they look at you like you’re daft when you ask for lunch as they don’t do food PAINT OVER. THE SIGNS

We didn't have food but it was a welcome sight in the heat on our bikes Great service, lots of excellent benches outside, plenty of parking.

Fantastic old pub, no food as kitchens have shut indefinitely, Shame really, a home made pie or something would have gone down well. !!

This place has the best beer garden for dogs, I have found anywhere. The manager (Steve) is so laid back and welcoming, you feel like your in your own home. There is even a world war 2 pillbox on the grounds for historians to explore! Proper friendly country pub.

Family run pub at the side of a canal, lovely food very popular and dog friendly, outside play area, big grass area and seating, a lot going on, Up dated 4-1-23 just enjoyed a catch up with some friends really lovely evening, such a relaxing place to come, one of our most visited pubs , hope it never changes, thank you

Good old fashioned pub. No food served just crisps and nuts. Good relaxed atmosphere to meet your friends after work or after a walk down the canal.

Fantastic friendly Pub. Popped in with kids for a drink whilst partner did paperwork and picked up a car from close by garage. Havent had ploughmans bar snack for years. Was great!. X

A lovely place a proper pub and so dog friendly always make very one welcome we sail down on out canal boat the moorings are next to the pub so not far to stagger back , just wish they would put food back on even if it was just a pot of stew with some crusty bread to dip in it ,

Nice homely pub. Popped in for a drink on way back from a shopping trip to Southport. Haven't been there for years and don't think much had changed in that time. If you want a modern pub then this is not for you. However this is a proper cosy pub with a lovely friendly atmosphere where you can get a nice quiet drink and a lovely snug to sit in.

If you want to go to a real pub and meet real people and have Greet conversation and feel like your with friends and family, feel cosy with a roaring fire have a real pint and feel belonged to come here everytime, it's amazing, Thank you Steve & Family you are one offs 🙏✨💫👌💕🌈👍

Nice quiet pub on the canal. Made for a nice stop on our walk from Burscough to Ormskirk. Good customer service and a good pint. Dog friendly too.

Great little pub by the canal, serving a really good pint of ale. Excellent refreshments on a bike ride down the canal. Does serve food although I didn’t sample that.

Absolutely loved this quaint little pub, the lovely lady gave Harry a treat and if you know anything about me....it's all about Harry 🐾. So if you are looking for a lovely pub in a lovely area then this is the place for you.

Very nice place to stop for a drink on my way to Southport from Wigan, only ordered a Coke because I was riding a motorbike but was still nice. I sat next to the canal, was a good stop for a minute :)

There was a fair selection of beers and cider all in good order on offer. But just at the moment no food is available. We spent a very pleasant hour, enjoying a canalside pint in the sun.

Limited beer selection (3), kitchen closed. Stayed for one pint.

Not impressed arrived and was met by a serly barman who informed us the kitchen was closed and the only food on offer was crisps and peanuts so we went else were not impressed wouldn't recommend this place 😬

We were a family of four adults staying local to here and so decided to pop along for a drink one evening. As soon as we walked in i think all of the group felt quite uncomfortable, it was simply too crowded given the current covid concerns. To be fair to the barmaid she did say that there were no seats left inside which we were fine with as we had decided that outside seating was for the best! Cheap round of four alcoholic drinks under £15. Plenty of seating spaced around outside the pub front and back and very friendly staff.

Called in for lunch today, the place was very quiet, probably due to the appalling weather conditions! Quite a limited menu and a specials board but the food we ordered was freshly prepared and well cooked. Staff were helpful and pleasant too so all in all a very nice lunch in good surroundings.

Bit scruffy inside, but the food made up for it. Lovely homemade food, non of your frozen rubbish which you normally get. Definitely return.
