Myself and hubby,both had fish and chips, good size portion and all was very tasty.fit to burst.

Menu said the Pie of the day came with a jug of gravy. My Steak & Pie was delicious, but no gravy jug.

To say “soooo good” would be an understatement. Excellent. Just excellent.

Good to see the Windmill back after spruce up and spring clean. Excellent food and service, just what we needed at the start of a birthday weekend. Thanks to all, see you again very soon.

Went today Sunday dinnertime, the place only had a couple of people in. I asked about getting food for outside and was told that has not booked they only serving bookings (only 2 tables with people on. Was then told due to the chefs not being able to cope with none bookings they only served people who had booked. The place was empty. Drinks so expensive G&T and pint £14.50. went down road same drinks £11.35. All I can say is hurry up and get The Stocks open. This new system is a joke. Whilst there at least 4 other people in groups turned away from an empty pub.

Just been to windmill for lunch with my sister and it was lovely 😍, service amazing and food fantastic 😋, will definitely be going back and really recommend xxxx

Couldn't tell you how the food was as the service was so bad we had to leave, cold coffee, and waiting for so long to have our order taken, then waiting too long for the food so sadly we had to leave

Lovely pub and area..popped in for drinks ..recommend this pub

Down visiting family always try different restaurants when down popped in on Saturday night, log fire was on lovely and warm , busy we tried 3 different starters all very nice, mains I had the fillet steak with bacon and blue cheese got to say was beautiful ( maybe a little expensive) but everyone said they would return

We called here after booking a table for New years eve. The food was exceptionally good and the pub is immaculate and very well kept. The main thing however was the standard of the service. All the young ladies that served us were amazingly helpful and pleasant even though they were very busy and rushed off their feet!. Huge thanks to all the team here for making our visit so enjoyable. Had Sunday lunch and beef was full of grizzle and veg seemed to have been reheated in microwave overall poor meal

The night I visited was busy, so I got very warm, a bit stuffy inside but good fun and nice food lovely service, dogs are welcome in a separate room. There's a special board with really nice options on there. The menu is varied with good quality meals. I had broccoli and stilton soup, Braised beef bourguignon, And Crème Catalan. All very delicious 😋

Visited the Windmill today for a birthday celebration quite a big party 16 of us. The building is charming, the food was good, very large portions we were supplied with containers to take some home! The staff were exceptional I can't praise them enough. We will be back if you'll have us!

We were a group of friends and booked in advance and also picked our meals My husband chose featherblade beef but it said something else he found the meal very overcooked and thought that it was microwaved. I ordered ahead the game of the day it turned out to be a game pie again the meat was very overcooked and tough not a good meal we have eaten here before but definitely won’t go rushing back again if at all.

Poor service and even worse food. Three plates returned uneaten. When asked was everything ok we told the waiter that food was poor lots of fatty meat and no roast potatoes as per menu. Apologies from waiter who was very nice but no reduction in bill or complimentary coffee. Certainly won’t be going back there again

I was visiting from Spain and this was my first visit to The Windmill. The atmosphere was warm and comfortable and the food and service were excellent. I will definitely visit again.

Food was inedible, I had fish & chips which tasted older than I would have imagined, potentially defrosted, the batter was like having a sponge cake wrapped around it, and the oils are rank as well. My wife had a burger and couldn't finish it due to the taste of the oils. On our way out a second table was also complaining. I paid in full because I didn't want to ever come across as someone who complains for free stuff, but absolutely regret that now because I'm 40 quid down for some of the worse food I've ever eaten. Honestly, absolutely dire

We had a fantastic Sunday lunch here. Love food and the staff were very attentive.

Great atmosphere and very attentive staff. A real community spirit vibe on the special event nights like karaoke too. Unfortunately food hasn't been great last few times ive been - burger served on narrow wooden board with small portion of coleslaw and chips that fell off board. Roast used to be outstanding but last time beef was very rare but also tough. The shared vegetables aren't needed and don't add quality. It's a brilliant place so it would be unfair to give less than 5 stars but I hope to see food improve again.

We booked a table for 8 at 2pm. It was quite busy on arrival, but we were quickly shown to our reserved table. Our drinks order was taken and the menu explained. Five of us decided to have starters, which were all delicious. We all had mains, six of us opting for the Sunday roast, which were absolutely divine and although we all have good appetites we struggled to eat all of the veg sides. Three of us had deserts and I had a coffee. All were wonderful. The initial service was exceptional, a little blip between mains and deserts due to large influx of new diners and a birthday celebration. All in all a great experience and one we look forward to experiencing again and again. The staff always go out of the way to look after us and we understand it may slow a little when lots of new customers come in to eat…

Usually love this place and on my last visit a few months ago really enjoyed my meal and the service was great. They seemed to have changed the menu and maybe the chef ? The service was ok but the food was very poor - tasteless and undercooked cauliflower steak with almost cold potatoes . My husband had the rib which was he said was very dry and also tasteless . We didn’t like to complain as our friends were treating us to a meal out but sadly I would not revisit the windmill again.

We went last night for partners birthday meal .. Was disappointed to say the least My son in law didn't like any starters so I asked if he could just have some mushrooms done in garlic , not hard really , waiter came back and said no . Then his main came out with a mushroom on . Wasn't an out there request. Daughter ordered short rib she said was dry and fatty tasted like a lamb shank hardly any sauce with it . Partners mushy peas were like bullets Then deserts came out son in law asked for cookie dough as we were told it was an option but the waitress has only just been told there wasn't any so he got vanilla I didn't make a fuss at the time as it was a birthday meal . Would I come again ? Unfortunately not .

Regularly visit this pub for food and it never disappoints. Ed is the most welcoming person. The ever changing menu keeps us going back.

Amazing pub but not a fan of the menu change. Bring back the pizzas they were so good and the chicken curry. Also we love Ed which is the only reason we empty our bank accounts here.

Excellent service, delicious fresh food from a new menu. We ordered salads, fries, runny scotch egg and soup. The quality feta used in the salads was really yummy. It was all super yummy and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. The chocolate torte was clearly made on site. So nice to have deserts made and not bought in that a full of sugary foam! A great meal out. Thanks to all the lovely servers who checked on us to make sure we had what we needed and were enjoying our meals. Super service!

Great pub , friendly welcoming atmosphere, and great food , until recently the new menu change meaning 2 of the pub favourites have been removed the pizzas and chicken curry, which is disappointing as this our local and visit multiple times a week , for a few drinks after work along with pub grub

I sent my meal back as the fish was overcooked and was mostly batter. It was replaced but as there were 4 of us I had my meal after everyone else. My friend gave feedback stating the fish and chips were overcooked. We were not offered the dessert menu or coffees afterwards. Overall the service and quality of all the food was poor. Not what we have been used to previously at The Windmill.

Disappointed with the food at lunchtime on Friday 13 September. Ordered fish & chips it was all overcooked and there was hardly any fish inside the batter. I sent it back and received a replacement meal.There were 4 of us so I ended up eating after everyone else. My friend asked could she give feedback stating she thought that the fish was overcooked and dried out. After that we were not offered the dessert menu or coffees which we thought was odd. Overall it was a very disappointing experience for quality of food and service. This is not what we have been used to here.

We popped into here yesterday and we had a Sunday Roast.. We have been to many places yet this was the best we've had and came away with We will deffinatly return .. Lovely friendly staff ... Clean fresh and a very warm welcome 🙏..

Came for a birthday meal with family. We live locally but it's been a while since we visited. Both the food and service were excellent!

Great country pub for food and real Ales with regular guest beers. Great for walkers and dog lovers who are welcome . Has a great real fire in Autumn and winter to add to the cosy atmosphere.

Worst experience at a restaurant for a long time. It was my wife's birthday so we picked a place we had been to before not to be disappointed. I ordered the fish and chips and my wife the sea bass. The fish was OK but a bit greecy but the Sea bass was very poor the potatoes were hard and over cooked as was the rest of the veg. We called a waitress over and she took the food back but I had eaten my meal by the time my wife's was returned ,this time it was OK. As it was my wife's birthday we decided to order a sweet, big mistake a 30 min wait for a sloppy cheese cake and a pot of custard that was supposed to be a creme brulee. After complaining a second time we were told a new chef had just started and kitchen not yet up to par. No kidding. Avoid at all costs.

Came here for the Sunday lunch after reading the reviews and I wasn’t disappointed! The pub is nicely set up and good decor,service was speedy and professional and the food was of excellent quality !! I would definitely return and highly recommend.

I stopped by after walking the canal, a great location. Lots to choose from in the menu with an added bonus of a beer garden. We ordered fish and chips, gammon and 2 cokes, which all came to £40. Good service and the food was just as tasty!

We took an old friend to the Windmill for Sunday lunch. The service was excellent and the roast loin of pork and roast beef were exceptional. Two pints of perfectly served white Witch as well. Well done to all the staff for

Wasn't impressed at all, ordered a green risotto with chicken added. Meal came put Mayonnaise on but couldn't find any chicken, asked and the waitress said she hadn't asked for the chicken but would. So I waited and out came a small skin on chicken leg with dried up skin. I asked what I was supposed to do with that, so the waitress said would I like a fresh risotto, so I said yes. Within minutes the new risotto came out, luke warm, could taste the Mayonnaise with what looked like uncooked shredded slimy chicken. So then I had to pick all the chicken out but finally left it. Not a cheap meal either. My partner when we were leaving took the plate and refused to pay for that meal but paid for his. I don't get out often as I'm a 24 hour carer and was really looking forward to my special treat with my partner. Needless to say we didn't stay for dessert even though we had planned to. Won't be visiting again 😕

Brilliant place in a lovely village

The best - well one of the best - things about this place is the staff. In particular ... Pauline. She's just lovely! Nothing's too much trouble. She always has a story to tell and is naturally funny. Always a little disappointed when she's on a day off. Pop in and say hello 👋

Visited this restaurant after walking along the nearby canal. The setting is very pleasant and in excellent condition. The staff were great and very pleasant too. We had a Sunday roast dinner ( stuffed belly pork) which was absolutely fantastic. The pork was cooked to perfection, mash and roast potatoes, 5 veg and a large crispy Yorkshire pud. Extra gravy too ! One of the best Sunday roasts I’ve had for a while and very reasonably priced too. Additionally the menu was varied and there was a special board selection too. Spoilt for choice we were . This place is well worth the trip and I’m sure I’ll be back again. Thankyou to Ed and his staff for your excellent and kind service. Tony

No long started visiting this place after starting to date someone in the area. Been twice in a week! Excellent, 5/5 on all fronts. Will be seeing plenty of us.

Visited for the first time today at Lunchtime, dining companion had been some time ago. Plenty of available tables on arrival, on entry the background music stood out, it was far too loud, the young waitress showed us to a table. Instantly we realised we had a speaker directly above us couldn't hear our own voices,so asked if we could move further away. Our conversation still had to compete with the music which was frustrating...I would suspect the majority of diners like to communicate over their meal. A good varied menu choice, though only having mains, it did seem to take some time considering your pub wasn't busy. The food was hot (plates too 👍) and very tasty, my dining companion finished his meal first, the waitress approached the table asked for second time was all OK & took his plate.I was still finishing my meal. That waitress should have come back when both had finished eating, they should always wait until the party have all finished. There is nothing worse than a person being left eating & plates being removed. Though 'silver service' hardly exists in eating establishments these days,this is a definite no,no, hence the 3 stars.Would hope this is fedback to all staff.

Absolutely superb. The ox cheek was so tender and fell apart. The mash was light and fluffy. The pizzas were great too. Top banana

Fabulous Sunday lunch and really nice staff.

Food was brilliant and portions were huge, service was sadly lacking. Started great with a young woman who greeted us, but she either finished soon after or was on a break and it was as if no one took over, we were left for a long time with dirty plates on the table and had to ask multiple times for simple things. Baby change also needs massive improvements - only available in the ladies toilets and is high up above a toilet in a cramped cubicle

Working in Parbold on this miserable rainy day, I called to the Windmill Pub. I was given a Mocca from the loveliest barmaid - Pauline. She also provided a little Ray of sunshine on this wet day. Friendly and funny. Will definitely call again! Thank you.

Absolutely gorgeous food and good size portions. You won't be hungry when you leave. It tastes that nice you won't want to leave any. Lovely friendly service. Wad asked straight away if we had any allergies. Would highly recommend.

Had the roast dinner, only warm had to send back got new roast was OK

I did not enjoy the 2-course special. Croquettes for starter unpleasant although one better than the other? Very tough mushrooms and rest of it mush. Flat iron steak inedible. Served rare rather than medium and very chewy so just managed to eat tiny bits from outside. Enjoyed the tomatoes. I did complain and was asked if I wanted something taken off the bill. Awkward as I wasn’t paying but felt like a reduction should have been made as the steak was clearly disgusting but I had eaten the chips and tomatoes.

We visited the Windmill after hearing great things about their Sunday roasts and we weren’t disappointed. Everyone was very happy with their meals the service was great. The apple crumble was the best dessert I’d had in a while. Would definitely recommend!

My girlfriend and I had dinner at the Windmill last night. The food was fantastic, very good service and a warm atmosphere. I can't recommend it enough.

A little slow at times Good menu and decent food choice

Very Disappointed, with portion size served in a desert/ soup bowl to make it look more, plentiful times in past we've had the lamb Henry, but this was ridiculous, I've had more meat on a chicken thigh,!!! Mash was none existing & veg was consisted of 3 little pieces. At a price of £ 23 pounds Totally outrageous, paying for refurbishments that was completed last week therfore won't be going back!!!!

It was lovely to return to our favourite pub today, the best Sunday lunch around. Very impressed with the recent refurbishments too, it looks fantastic. Thankyou again to Gill, Ed and all the staff for the warmest of welcomes as always and the most amazing Sunday lunch. See you next month.

Great pub lunch indoors in Winter.

My daughter and I went for our Xmas lunch celebration on the 23rd December and so booked a table 2 weeks in advance. Table for 2 on our favourite table in front of the fire. We were really looking forward to our meal. I checked with the pub at least 3 times, ensuring our booking was secured. Today we turned up only to find our table had been given to someone else! When shown the booking form our details had deliberately been altered. The pub was empty. The ladies who took our table could have been offered multiple options. Disgusting!!!! In response to Manager: Edmund, my daughter and I have met you many times and you have always been welcoming. Just to confirm my original post. •I did state the 23rd. •If you were present in the pub at the time, we certainly did not see you. •At no time were we ever told the booking may be moved to another table. As I mentioned I checked our details were correct more than once. Never was this mentioned. •As the pub was empty excluding a table of 8 who arrived just before us and the two old ladies who had been given our booking, the pub was completely empty. As such I do not see any justification for changing our booking. Thank you for the offer of a drink, however I’m not sure when we will return.

Decent pub food. Lamb was really tender and cooked well. The only issue was a couple of things missing from the orders. Would definitely go again, but would recommend a front of house manager to keep an eye out on customer requirements.

Starters good , Manager Ed very pleasant and helpful, Staff Polite , Roast very disappointing waited over 40 mins for it to come, the beef was overcooked and dry , vegetables mainly the carrots over cooked, sent it back ,to be told by the chef , "it is what it is" , Manager Ed was very apologetic on it and could apologize enough.. Can't fault Ed and his staff , but the chef I have no words...

I had a beautiful gammon chips and peas with fries egg and pineapple. best chips I've had in years. The gammon was lovely too. I had a Wainwrights beer with it...very nice. Good service and a very nice meal indeed.

Booked this only a couple of hours beforehand. Staff were really accommodating. Special room for those with dogs including treats. Service is excellent, food very nice and reasonably priced. There was a slight problem with the bill but staff sorted it immediately and all good. Definitely recommend this pub. Thanks for being so welcoming.

Roast Dinner really didn’t live up to our expectations. Auntie Bessie roast potatoes would have been 100% more acceptable than what we were served. Also, the tablespoon of gravy and the flat, hard Yorkshire pudding was terrible. This was rectified by the waiting staff after our complaint. In a good note we did visit the Windmill in June and had the roast dinner which was perfect. Such a shame the visit this weekend was such a disappointment.

Lovely warm atmosphere when entering with plenty of light. Luncheon menu is not a large one but varied. Two dishes ordered, one small fish and chips ( dont know how big a large one was), perfect light batter with great chips. one chicken and choritso pasta dish, very good and plentiful. Both dishes well cooked, hot and nicely presented. Good lunchtime. Put garlic bread as an extra for the pasta.

Came across the Windmill by accident, so we popped in for lunch. So glad we did. Staff brilliant, Food excellent, and pricing very reasonable for the quality.

After a lovely canal walk we had lunch at the Windmill. The vibe was warm welcoming tradional pub but bright and fresh - just what we were after. It had a designated doggy dining area which we prefer, we had two with us. There was a help yourself treats station! Water bowls were offered on arrival. The pies were fantastic, out of this world! The bubble and squeak starter and chicken liver parfait very good too. Only reason 4 not 5 stars is one of our group thought the peri peri chicken burger could do with a bit more peri peri but that is personal preference, but I have to stay the cheese pie I had was next level! Staff were so helpful and naturally friendly. And a good amount of parking. It was a glorious day so we did have to wait a couple of mins for a free space but nothing crazy. We are not local, we came for a sunny canal walk with friends and have decided we will definitely return here again! Expectations should be good British village pub with excellent pub grub, thats super dog friendly - perfect for walkers all around.
