Ordered a steak and kidney pie. Got home and it was meat and potato. Fantastic.

I went there and prices where extortionate and theres other places where it's just better.WILL NEVER GO AGAIN.

Genuinely cannot believe what I have just been charged. 1 sausage dinner, 1 pie dinner, S&P chips, small sausage and chips - £28. The food is tasteless. S&P chips worst I've had. £1.70 for a chippy sausage... seriously, they're less than 20p cost per sausage for jumbo's and you're selling 6's for 10-15 times cost. You can charge less than this in a city centre. Infact, I could name 5 in Liverpool selling better food for cheaper. Avoid - County Fish bar 10x better value

Avoid these theiving little scum bags. Charging £13.05 for special fried rice amongst other things on just eat and then saying its just eat who made the prices 😂. Little rats. Avoid

Absolutely lovely, busy and lively fish and chip shop. Great food and service. With a name like Acropolis, I was expecting Greek food but this was a chippy with wok and noodles. A lovely dinner and friendly staff

£6.60 for chips,sausage and curry sauce. No thanks. Gone are the days of a chip shop being an affordable meal. Must think there in London. Plenty of other chippys in Ormksirk with more appropriate pricing.

They are doing a very poor food and some of the girls are rude , also i have to wait about 40 min for only one dishe... very poor experience !

Chip excellent. However the gravy £2 and peas £2 that’s just not on. Furthermore, in the past it was two scoops of each but today only given one of each. Will get the chip next time and supply my own extras.

Was quite surprised if how much meals have gone up, and the quality has gone down. Meat in meals was chewy and not as much. From a birthday meal for 8 people and price was 108. Afraid chippy has seen its day for us.

First time here so it must be fake reviews for this place. Walked in and was ignored by three staff, i had to get their attention..first red flag. Chips n curry is extortionate price its disgusting and the food was disgusting, the chips were soggy the curry was tasteless and just warm. Pie awfull too tasted of bleach. Wont be going back and i left the remnants of the food front of shop Disgusting place.

Initially, service was great as served straight away by friendly staff. My requested order was wrapped up ready to go...came to pay using my phone, the staff said sorry it's cash only???? Or you can download the app and pay via that! So, I did as instructed, the app wasn't working so I was told by the staff, go next door to bargain booze, buy something and ask for cash back! Went next door, sorry we can't do that! The staff in bargain booze suggested download the just eat app and pay that way. FFS! Went back in to acropolis and asked if I could do that she said, it will work out more expensive! I said, do know what just forget it! Came out very hungry and disappointed - presume my order went in the bin! What a great way to do business....not!!!!

Brilliant chippy. Must have been in Ormskirk one of the longest if not the longest in the area. Meals amazing. Never disappoint. Would highly recommend.

ACROPOLIS, a Greek named and themed take out. Serves English dishes, Asian noodle boxes and Chinese meals. They do advertise Greek kebabs but, they don’t sell these anymore. Oh, and also, they don’t have ketchup. Please figure out who you are.

Ordered a chicken pad thai this what we got five small pieces of chicken no Asian vegetables and no rice noodles but there is Italian pappardelle pasta in it absolutely disgusting didn’t realise they were doing fusion food. Very disappointed there are loads of good recipes for pad dishes

It's good. It's been there for decades. I just about remember going there after a few scoops in The Chelsea Reach back in the day. It's longevity speaks volumes. The place is a gold mine. Just wish we could pay by card.

Best chippy in Ormskirk. Don't eat chips much these days but more often than not I call in at the Acropolis when in town.

I wouldn't go here if you want a tasty piece of cod. I have no idea what fish they use. I would go as far to say that the fish there is worse than the fish at parbold chippy. And that is saying something. However the chips were nice and the gravy hence the rating not being a 1 star. Haven't tried the chinese dishes so cannot comment but the reviews on them seem decent. But fish is a no no.

Food was OK but had to wait 25 mins for some chicken nuggets then another 10 mins on top of that for salt & pepper chips coz the girl hadn't ordered them in the back with the rest of the order. Regardless though, I was hungry so started to dig in and thought, these chips are sharp so stood under the street light and I noticed me chips resembled crisps that only a hardened ninja could eat. My fish looked curiously brown and small, I almost mistook it for another chip or a sardine at best but I ate it and realised the fish must have stayed behind because it felt like I was chewing on the corner of some MDF from the local DIY. If you don’t mind excessive wait times, poor quality food but are in the market for a fancy box then this is for you. Otherwise, go get yourself a meal deal (with crisp).

Called in today 20th October on my way to Southport. Had my heart set on a kebab but they no longer serve them at lunch time. So my second choice was a sausage dinner. I have to say the dinner is pricey but the food was lovely. Peas, gravy, sausage and chips all very tasty and plentiful.

First time ordering takeaway. 35 for 3 meals, upon black bean dry and sickly and the Singapore rice box came with no prawns at all. Only good thing is was hot when arrived.

Fish and chips always a winner 🏆

Very disappointed.. usually out favourite fish and chips.. but not tonight. Chips were AWFUL ! They were dried up ,couldn't eat them. The fish wasnt the usual standard either and at £9 for each portion it wasnt good value. Sorry.

The previous reviews tell you everything you normally need to know. Last two Sundays though (when we use them) the quality has been quite poor. Soggy chips and fish without the usual crunch. So busy with deliveries that the quality is bound to suffer. Great polite and well trained staff do their very best always and so hopefully my experience has been a blip over the last couple of visits. Really hope they do because we love the place.

We have visited this chippy a few times but this time the woman who served us was very rude, she made the wrong order as she did not clarify with us, I don’t like vinegar and they have put vinegar on my chips, usually we get the curry sauce in a pot but this time we got it all over. As she was giving us our food and still talking to us, she answered the phone and just ignored us, she was very ignorant and had an awful moody face on her. We have checked the menu and they have over charged us by a whole meal

Firstly this is a very good chippy , but by god do you pay for it , the menu has been streamlined so that all the meals are fixed price . The Chinese meals start at £7.50 !! No kebab's , apparently they are too much hassle to make ! Large fish and chips £7.50 and this has only happened since lock down , if you can put up with extortionate prices then fine , but there are soo many good and better value chippys around, also another bad point phone orders have priority over walk in customers

Ordered 3 portions of Fish & Chips to pick up & collect. They were all individually boxed as requested. They were delicious plenty chips & the fish were nearly as long as the boxes. Very pleased & the ladies behind the counter were polite & helpful. Definitely coming again worth every penny.👍😉🐟🍟🍴🥫🧂

Absolutely the best chippy in the area, fish is always freshly cooked and tastes Devine, nice crunchy batter with loads of flavour, chips are perfect, the curry sauce is to die for, staff are polite and efficient, can’t recommend them highly enough 😍😍😍

Absolutely top tier. Best in ormskirk by a mile. We had salt & pepper chicken, duck spring rolls, crispy chilli beef egg fried rice & salt and pepper chips. Honestly unbelievable everything was full of flavour 🙌

The Acropolis, is one of the best you'll find, we've used them for over 40yrs. The fish is really good. The noodles, in fact all the Chinese food is excellent. Service is very good. There's plenty of staff. It's clean. You can't go wrong 👍

Terrible if you don’t like Mushrooms, Avoid. I have eaten here a few times giving this establishment a chance but yet it fails everytime. No where on the menu does the Curry Sauce state mushrooms but they expect every likes Mushrooms. Order Gravy next visit try that Mushrooms again. Not every person likes Mushrooms. There should be a normal Gravy Mushroom Free and Curry sauce Mushroom free but yet these are not offered only the overly used Mushroom in everything. Need to get your acts together before somebody who is allergic eats a mushroom that is not stated and has an allergic reaction. Very poor.

Chips cooked to the colour of a vampires face. Stinky Fish with thick greasy batter. Very poor value for money especially as 90% of it went in the bin.

Great mix of cuisine. I had a cooked to order Tai box, a well filled box of chicken, noodles and veg, couldn't eat another thing! Husband enjoyed his traditional pie and chips (massive chip portion). Delighted.

mitey chippy been in Aught now for 41 years and iv been going to this chippy for all that time i love it all in there . if your looking to fill your tummy then stop at the Acropolis and you wont be nothing els but happy and with a full tummy. i give it 20 / 10.

Very clean, modern looking fish and chips shop. Just out of Ormskirk town centre. Opposite the Morrisons. Short stay parking at the front of the store for easy access. Prices are great, food is amazing and staff are friendly and helpful. Takeout food only. No tables or chairs inside or out.

Being on a tight budget this week, i observed the poster outside offering Fish Chips with peas or gravy for £5 I ordered the fish and chips with peas, asked me if it was regular sized? I replied yes as the advertisement poster had no sizes displayed and i was sure it wasn't for a large (which i could probably not afford today) £8.50 please??? I was shocked to have been scammed in such a way by a locally owned established takeaway, while on such a tight budget. The food here is very good and it's such a shame that their integrity is not comparable. I made my objections loudly and i'm sure that they had the opportunity to refund me, but chose not to. There are other great Fish and Chip shops in Ormskirk

Found this chippy by accident and loved it every time except the last one. Ordered fish chips curry and peas. Soggy batter stuck to the paper. Bland curry white soggy chips. I hope this is a one-off because if it happens again it will be my last. Doesn't matter how busy you are you don't let your standards drop.

Me and my hubby drive all the way from Liverpool to this chippy once a week, the food is second to none, lovely fresh fish, cooked expertly while you wait, happy, friendly staff. The place is very clean and we love the news paper printed boxes the fish and chips come in. This place is a credit to Ormskirk, ignore the negative reveiws, those folks must have a chip on their shoulder (should have eaten it, if it was from here. lol)

Ordered roughly 10 items and 5 of them were made incorrectly. Imagine a food place with a 50% success rate of getting it right? Overpriced, bland, awful customer service. More worried about cracking jokes amongst each other. What even is the point when a place cannot execute a simple instruction such like "curry sauce in a pot rather than on the fish, please." Also charged me £13.40 for a chicken and beef Foo Yung. All of this compounded a rude owners attitude (I assume he was the owner) made for an awful experience, ruining what was supposed to be a treat of ordering in. Genuinely my first ever review I have ever wrote as I am usually completely against this busy behaviour from naggy or petty cutomers. This customer is neither naggy nor petty, just OVERWHELMINGLY disappointed in every single aspect.
