The Letters Inn in Cheshire West and Chester

Excellent Chinese food. Second time we’ve eaten here and thoroughly enjoyed it both times. The flavours and ingredients are 1st Class… would highly recommend

Dropped in for a midweek dinner for the two of us. Made very welcome by the staff and we were served quickly and efficiently. A very wide range of dishes at reasonable prices. Food was very fresh and flavourful and very good portion sizes. Excellent house wine and other drinks. We have had takeaway meals from here on many past occasions, all of which have been great, but eating in was an even better experience and well worth doing. We will certainly be eating there again.

Brilliant night our family came to stay from Manchester took them to the Letters lovely night they took advantage of the Chinese Kim's and thought it was brilliant 👏 Don't have that in Manchester x absolutely lovely night and a massive thanks to the locals for being so friendly home from home will definitely be back.

Have just been to the take away at letters inn in Tattenhall. We ordered 3 meals one was OK and 2 beef chow mein that were the blandest meals we have ever eaten. Very disappointing and won't be going back, this is the second time we have been and found the food very bland the first time. But wouldn't judge it on just one visit.

Been here about a dozen times now, very welcoming with a wide choice of beers and lagers. Staff friendly and efficient. A full Chinese restaurant tucked away at the rear. Excellent, :)

On holiday in the area and stumbled over this lovely little pub. Covid regs in place but this doesn't spoil your visit. Kim Chinese restaurant within the pub is fantastic. Staff in both venues are brilliant. Would highly recommend a visit

We popped in for a couple of drinks while staying a t the nearby campsite and the covid safety was clearly apparent. Contacts taken, screens between tables and a one way system around the pub. The beer was good quality and the table service was very efficient.

Visit regularly for a Chinese takeaway or sometimes eat in and have never been dissapointed .Really good food at a reasonable price.Really freindly local pub ,great beer

A very friendly largish village pub / eatery. They have a Chinese menu as well as the more traditional pub fayre. Good value for money. They have a HUGE log fire when it is cold, which helps the already very social atmosphere of the place. It's good at lunchtime too.

Great local pub. Doesn't try to be ostentatious. Just serves a good range of beers and lagers, together with all the choice of wines you want. Even better when you find out they serve GENUINE Chinese food, in or out. The beautiful open roaring fire makes it more than welcoming in the colder months. A choice of Sky and BT Vision makes it attractive to all sports enthusiasts or you can have a game of darts if you like. It's obvious I like this pub. I have used it regularly for many years. Oh! I forgot. It's dog friendly.

Imagine a traditional English village pub serving great beer and as part of the set up a Chinese restaurant. Here you have it. Daughter, son in law and grandchildren took us out for Father’s Day. One of the best Chinese meals I have ever eaten. Staff very friendly. No wonder people fight to pick up the takeaway on a Friday night ! Could do with a couple more tables for eat in but that won’t alter my five star rating. Brilliant !

A great village pub, friendly staff and locals, good beer and very dog friendly. Nice beer garden at rear.

Great independent country pub that clearly excels & survives by providing a wonderful Bar & Chinese food menu by the most knowledgable lady in charge of the food. V. In charge & makes sure your food lands on your table in the best readiness & presentation. However when we retrieved our credit card from behind the bar £19.20 for five drinks & 6 items from their comprehensive eating in menu seemed a little light. Bar/Kitchen communication needs to be addressed. We approached the British/Chinese lady to correct the £33 undercharge. A big Hug was appreciated for our honesty😎 Won Ton Broth “Exceptional@ The fried rice is not the rubbish you get from your local chip shop in a hurry & the ‘Crispy Shredded Beef’ is to die for. Overall an unbelievably memorable visit👍👍👍

We drink at the Letters when visiting Tattenhall where we keep our narrowboat. It is not fancy but has a marvellous atmosphere and a fair bit of polished brass, and as my husband says, they serve a damn good pint.We had the Chinese set meal for two plus one extra veg dish - Kung Po - all of which was very tasty and we were full to overflowing by the end of it. The food is obviously very popular as the takeaway business does exceptionally well.A cosy place for a couple of drinks and a Chinese bite to eat

Just what you want when you are hungry. Good food at a fair price. The wait was a little longer than quoted but when twenty minutes is so important, you should not bother. You can happily have a great pint when you are waiting. Good job.

came to this inn after a memorial service today, the staff were so welcoming, friendly and couldn't do enough for you. A real cosy atmosphere and a lovely roaring fire so thanks to Mandy for doing all that she did to make the occasion special.

Lovely staff and lots of character. Mostly filled with workers and tradesmen after clocking off at 3 on a Friday. Expect it has a lively atmosphere at times, but has that "struggling" look about it. Toilets functional. Hope it survives.

Un ambiente muy cálido en este pub - y es super dog también! Tuvimos una gran comida china en aquí e incluso tomó parte en el sorteo de carne! Discreto y no tienes que vestirte, pero sin duda un lugar que puedas beber y comer tranquilamente la noche.

it was a pleasant surprise to experience such authentic Greek cuisine in a local pub but the lamb dish and chicken souvalaki were gorgeous

Habiendo vivido en la zona alrededor de tattenhall tenía a menudo visto en las cartas, pero nunca tuvimos el exterior para tentar a mí, pero el sábado pasado mi esposa y yo nos aventuramos a ver un grupo llamado Somerset Paddys. Si estás buscando un pub moderno y entonces olvídate de aquí, pero si te gusta (como a mí) un antiguo pub antiguo lleno de bebedores de personajes locales, este es el lugar para ti. El precio de las bebidas era inferior a mi propio local, así que fue una ventaja, pero lo que creo que deben ser bastante raro tiene un restaurante chino. Pedimos una gran selección de entrantes, que llegó caliente, en resumen, fue una gran noche que sé que algunos residentes no estirado como pero nos encantó, y sin duda volveremos.

El pub tiene un restaurante chino dentro, pero mantiene su tradición de pub, con chimenea y vigas, etc. Tuvimos una cena temprana 6,90 libras por dos platos aunque había un extenso menú. Una pareja nos estaban esperando para su comida para llevar.

Recientemente visitados con amigos un grupo hombres más de 50 años! y no te hace sentir bienvenido en absoluto. El lugar parece que necesita una buena reforma. El propietario (creo que es quién era?) parecía ser consumidos en el bar. Persona de bar parecía muy miserable. Tras unas copas decidimos marcharnos. Hospitalario. ningún esfuerzo. Triste ya que es un pueblo precioso pub. La nueva energía necesaria quizás?

We love going to The letters as a weekly treat. The food is always fresh and an excellent standard. The service and welcome we get is outstanding.

A nice traditional pub, with a Chinese twist. By twist i mean restaurant with great affordable food with friendly service that is worth a visit!

A lovely local pub. We visited on a Sunday lunch time and had a glass of wine. A very pleasant landlord and a extremely friendly resident dog. The outdoor area was very pretty, surrounded by fruit trees. The pub was child friendly and did offer food, although we didn't have any. The pub also shows BT sport which made my husband very happy! Worth a visit if you are in the Tattenhall area.

The Chinese is great inside the pub although thE pub lacks atmosphere and feels outdated a quick revamp would make the pub a destination people want to attend.

Fabulous place now all been renovated. Fantastic service and brilliant food - one to visit and make sure you try the steaks.

When visiting and staying with a relative locally my wife and I always make certain we visit the Letters for a meal. It is a good old fashioned pub, it is not bling; gastro or modern. It must have the best log fire in Cheshire., goodness knows where they get the enormous logs from. The staff are delightful, the beer (and wine) is first class, and what can one say about Kim her Cooks and the food. 10 out of 10 for chirpiness and quality (and quantity). Unlike the last reviewer I love this place not just as a local pub but also as a pretty good Chinese restaurant/take away. Quiz night every Wednesday and the famous Meat Draw every Friday that helps raise money for the local school ensures that this pub is at the heart of local village life. A changing list of guest beers and decent wines make this a good place to come and avoid drinking diet coke!!!!!

What a nice welcome from both the landlady & landlord, attentive bar staff & what a bonus .... Totally unexpectedness .... The most wonderful Chinese authentic meal served by a very happy pleasant young Chinese lady with a chirpy smile ! Overall a lovely experience ..... Good selection of beers with added bonus of great food, recommended in every way

The landlady is no lady!The beer is badly kept and served in dirty glasses!The wine is of poor quality and there is only a hostile atmosphere and the stink of stunk.Avoid at all costs.

Big open fire, music on a Friday eve, quiz night weds,dogs welcome, nice local atmos, pool, darts, Chinese take away/ restaurant in the back of the pub.. What more can you want from a pub..

The letters is one of my favourite pubs ever. Great atmosphere, friendly staff/ regulars. Lovely roaring fire and the famous meat draw on a Friday which is very popular! chinese is lovely and great cocktail list. Kid friendly and you can even take your dog.

Ok, nothing to get excited about, really thought menu and food served was more pub influenced than restaurant. A bit of a let down really., but it was ok.

The Letters is a great pub for both a drink or a Chinese, eat in or take away. The food is fresh and always of a high standard. Friendly pub which also welcomes children who happily play on the pool/snooker table! Tv plays sports. Real coal fire in the winter. An excellent all rounder! Always have our Chinese take outs from The Letters, fast service and top notch!

Dropped in for lunch and this is now our favourite restaurant even though it is a good half hour drive awayThe pub is quaint with a huge fire and beams. Not a vast selection of beers but enough. We had salt and pepper ribs and squid, follows by chilli beef and chicken and cashew nuts. The food was generous in portion and fantastic in taste. The lady that served us was lovely. Friendly and attentive but not too much. I would like to go back when it is busier to see if the service is still as good. 38 pound including 4 drinks was good value as well.We will go back for our anniversary in may and we are already looking forward to it. Wonderful food, lovey pub great service. You can't get much better

We have been to The Letters Inn a few times now, and love the atmosphere here. We had a lunch in November which was gorgeous, then on 22nd December had a two-course meal for our wedding anniversary. The mixed starter was amazing, we didn't think we'd finish it all but it disappeared swiftly and the main course was also delicious.Highly recommended.
