The Sawyers Arms in Manchester

Unfortunately I have to give 3 stars as I couldn't eat because some dishes were not available so we settled for a beer and some nachos! Friendly girl who welcomed us!

Food was good but the place was dirty. Dirty plates on almost all the tables and beer all over the floor.

One of the nicest pubs on our trip. We have been guests here several times.

He estado en los Sawyer anteriormente, pero eso fue por motivos de negocios. Esta visita fue con amigos que no habían estado antes. Gran selección de personal de bebidas de gran ambiente a diferencia de algunos otros establecimientos en Manchester. Sigue con el buen trabajo. Definitivamente vale cinco estrellas.

The food was excellent. Kat was incredibly kind and helpful, which made the experience even better.

Didn't have food, just popped in for a quick pint. All in all seemed like a decent pub.

Asked for a can of Guinness zero at the bar as I was driving during the Man City v Bournemouth fa cup game . The barman shouts at another staff member ‘why is there an open can of Guinness zero in the fridge’ right in front of me. She replied she didn’t know and didn’t know how long it was in there , he then proceeds to take out the open can and starts to pour it into a pint glass right in front of me . I had to stop him and asked him what he was doing . He said ‘ it will be fine mate’ . I started laughing and was like give me a new can. Comical carry on. He had a face on him like I disrespected him or something . A clown . I got a closed can in the end . The pouring of the Guinness zero into the glass was also butchered . If that’s their hygiene and storage standards with a drink , god only knows what’s going on in the kitchen . Beware

Quite for a Sunday, no football, but beers & staff excellent

Great pub in the centre of Deansgate, lovely atmosphere and selection of food and drinks. Came in the afternoon with some work friends and was served by Kat who was really welcoming and helpful. I enjoyed the Buttermilk Burger for a pub lunch, I would certainly recommend.

Me lo pasé genial en los Sawyers, y no puedo recomendarlo lo suficiente! El ambiente es acogedor y acogedor. Sin embargo, lo que realmente lo diferenciaba era el excelente servicio, particularmente de Marie. Ella era amable, atento, y se esforzó por asegurarse de que teníamos todo lo necesario. Great real ale pub and quality food

My husband popped in a for a pint this afternoon and was treated appallingly by the man on the door - the bouncer randomly and completely falsely claimed my husband had gone behind the bar, he then threw him out and aggressively shouted in his face that he was a liar when he protested his innocence. My mum and I happened to arrive at this point and witnessed the doorman’s aggression. I asked to see the alleged cctv but he refused to show it (of course). We were completely bemused and appalled by the bouncer’s behaviour. We can only assume he was looking for someone to start a fight with and picked on my husband as he was by himself. Obviously none of us will be returning to this pub.

This spot has become a go-to for any part of the week! It’s usually not too hard to find a table and the staff at the bar are very attentive and friendly. I had a lovely chat with Katia who served me throughout the night too, and made me feel very welcome. Overall, definitely becoming one of my favourite stop-ins!

What a gorgeous pub. Full of character and tradition. A large pub on the corner in the city centre. We went upstairs it was so busy. Has a bit of a gothic feel. Loved it!!

I'm not entirely convinced about this restaurant. The service is actually good, but I'm not that keen on ordering via the website. The ambience is typically British dark, but very nice. The food, on the other hand, is not particularly good for the price. My sirloin steak was very fatty and tasted accordingly.

Sawyers for me is one of the best pubs in Manchester. A proper British pub with staff that are friendly and banterfull! Marie, Kat & Charlotte are a Stella lineup behind the bar that look after us every Thursday!

Went this week with friends for lunch. Food was excellent and very reasonably priced. Staff friendly especially Marie.

Old, wonderfully decorated British pub, as you would imagine. The tables fill up quickly, but people also like to stand around. The ambience was rated low due to the noise level in the bar. At times you almost had to shout at each other to be understood 😊 The selection of beers is typically large and the prices are absolutely fair.

Stopped in for a quick bite on my way to the canal district. Garlic mushrooms on toast was bland. Zero seasoning. Looked beautiful. Shame. Employees were excellent. Friendly!

Popped in yesterday for a drink with my partner. First young bar person very friendly, welcoming and kind. 1 pint of Guinness, 1 small merlot £10.15 paid on card. Second older bar person very rude and sour faced. Exactly the same round £ 11.85 when I mentioned it she was extremely rude to me and said "well what wine did you have?" I said exactly the same as my partner ordered, which was 1 small Merlot. She then said oh you'll have to wait for the refund I can't do it now. She offered no apology or explanation. My partner, he's much more forgiving than I am, even tried to make light of it with her but she ignored him and walked off in a huff. Not the best way to treat customers. Lovely old building though.

Well that’s a surprise. We are regular visitors to Manchester and dropped into the Sawyers as a usual shopping stop. Love the refurb the place looks great and the staff were friendly and helpful as always. I wanted to say a special thank you to Jessica - great recommendations on the beer and gin - thank you. We will be back when we come to the Christmas markets.

We go in fairly regular and its always a warm and friendly environment. Marie behind the bar is very welcoming and pours a great pint.

On entering the pub, smelt very musty

Popped in for a drink with an old friend, lovely pub, very spacious. Nice atmosphere. Staff were lovely, I got recommended a Pomelo Spritz cocktail by Katia which I enjoyed. And the food selection is prefect for a midday lunch spot. Would recommend visiting.

Stopped by for drinks before dinner and was a really pleasant experience all round. The pub is lovely with an equally lovely team of staff. In particular, the service was fabulous from Katia, she was very helpful with recommending new drinks to try from the large selection on offer. Will definitely be visiting again.

Lovely little pub, with very good positioned screens to watch the game. But the food value for money is not worth it.

My partner and I visited this pub for a relaxed drink on a Saturday afternoon. Lovely clientele and the bar staff were so friendly. The bar snacks menu caught our eye, and with 3 snacks for £16 we decided to give it a try. All the food in the pic was only £16 and everything was so fresh and delicious. We'll definitely be back.

Sawyers arms is always a decent pint. Good for the sport too and central to everything.

We love this bar and always pop in when we go to Manchester, especially at christmas when we've done the markets, but after our recent visit, we will no longer be calling in. I know prices are going up on everything, but £16.95 for a pint and a glass of red wine (and we travel abroad at least a dozen times a year!), this is now the most expensive round we have ever bought in Europe! Including Paris and Norway!

I had a fab experience here, came with my friends for drinks and dinner and everything was top tier especially the veggie Shepard's pie, thank you everyone !
