Come for tea today food was great service was great staff friendly

Very impressed. Friendly staff. Got the quadzilla burger which was amazing quality and value. I couldn't finish it and the staff gave me a take out box for the rest of the meal. Tesco vouchers are accepted here (food only). Only thing that let it down mainly was the quality of the seats. Some of the padding on some chairs was ripped off. These chairs need to be upholstered. 3rd time visiting and still impressed , tried the scampi this time which was nice. Gammon was more well done than preferred. 4th visit - served by Ryan who was lovely and had the crispy chicken burger which was tasty. Another visit down and enjoyed the food as always.

What can I say , we travelled out abit further than the normal and found this gem , staff were delightfully friendly and did not pressure us to order, we were looked after by Ryan and the bar staff so well, they looked like they actually cared not like some who don't care a lot, food was hot and so tasty , served in a very timely manner A+++ will definitely revisit and would recommend to all ..

Staff served 20 of us this evening, we didn't wait long and all meals came together basically..well done to all the wonderful staff on duty tonight. Thank you for a great night and outstanding all round service AAAAA⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Hungry horse as always value for money.

Booked online and asked to be sat away from any doors. On arrival they sat us rite next to the door. Ordered a pint of dark fruits and as it was coming out all frothy the miserable barman went to change the barrel. On return he said it was faulty and we had to order a different drink. Ordered food on the phone app what was probably the best thing about the whole experience and it come out within about 20 minutes. Food was supposed to be sizzling when it come out and it was not. It was cooked but not sizzling like advertised. Chips had all black spots on them as it looked like the cooking oil needed changing. Kids were running wild around us doing cartwheels as we was also close to a toy machine. Nobody come to ask us how the food was they just threw it at us the took the half full plates away when we had finished. I know it’s a family pub but 2 adults by themselves should be sat away from the play area. Also the building looks run down from the outside and could also do with a good clean inside. I’m the men’s toilet there was 2 sit down toilets. One was blocked and overflowing. The other had a massive turd floating in it. We will not be returning here. Ever.

I went here with a car club for a meet up. The car park is large so parking shouldn’t be a problem on the average day. The food was piping hot and very enjoyable and the room they had for us overlooked the car park so you don’t have to worry about your car. Staff were always polite and helpful and I would go here again

Came in with a large party the food and service was very good it's a shame the kids couldn't go in the outside play area.

They were very accommodating for our large family group for a Saturday afternoon lunch. We had a mixture of ages and some food allergies and they were careful not to mix the food up. It was just a shame that the play area wasn’t open for the children.

I visited the Game bird with the Brooks family, my friends celebrating their son's birthday. My meal was served and looked delicious,as I began to eat ki began to cough and had an asthma attack. Unfortunately I had to leave the table and go outside I would like to thank the young lady, a member of staff, who took care of mè. She was very professional efficient yet sympathetic. I am sure what she did for me was outside her remit, but she was really great and I cannot thank her enough. I feel sure, had she not taken care of me, I may have ended up in A&E. My kids had a great time at the half term party yesterday. It was good fun for them with all the activities, games and prizes and Donna was absolutely lovely as always. Nothing is ever too much for her. And her colleague was lovely too. They were great with the kids and so patient. Definitely a great night and lots of fun for the kids. I hope they do it again soon.

We were invited back after a bad experience one Sunday, as a family we had 2 sizzling meals and 2 steak meals all were very good quality, service from Danielle and Claire was exceptional, i was told the chefs were Adam and Ben well done lads, and needless to say all complimentary, we really appreciated their honesty, will definitely return.

I visited the game bird today and was served by two lovely young women called colette and Kori, they Where fast with serving the food and just nice people is general would definitely go back food was nice and the atmosphere was definitely welcoming.

Staff here are brilliant. Adam took the time to really make us feel welcome and we will definitely be returning. Food was gorgeous and would recommend the Quadzilla and full monty mixed grill. 10/10

Have been coming here for the past couple of years after a more local venue to us started to become not as appetising and we wish that we’d tried is sooner as it might just be the most customer friendly eating place In Merseyside. As always, we’ll definitely be back! 🥰

Pub was scruffy wall paper hanging off the walls food trodden Into the floors In function area upstairs in one corner the walls were damp and crumbling away window frames falling apart Food was overcooked or deep fried till it was like a brick Only good thing was staff service And the door to get out

Went today got seat no problem order no problem got starter right away luckily we got the granddaughter meal to come out with the starter then all down hill after a hour they came and said we have no mash for the roast dinner and steak &ale pie then waited another 30 minutes for the meals to come out the mix grill they said we didn't know about so more waiting let's talk about the food gravy was oxo and water I think roast was deli turkey roast looked like they was a week old peas was like rocks,mix grill egg was over Cooked in dirty oil chicken beast was rubber pineapple was burnt and gammon was like eating salt safe to say I will never take by family back here .and outside play area is dangerous and children can't play on it .and the wacky you have to prebook

We came this afternoon for a family meal when we first arrived we was advised that there would be a 45 minute wait on our food as the pub was extremely busy, we decided to go a head and order 4 Sunday roasts ( which where delicious and definitely worth the wait!) while waiting for our food to arrive we took the kids into the wacky warehouse for a play , a member of staff even came into the play area to let us know our food was ready, we had a lovely day the staff in the pub where rush of their feet but still provided amazing service, ours kids loved the wacky and the two girls working went above and beyond to make sure they enjoyed themselves! Thanks again for a fabulous day!

Was initially told there would be a longer than expected wait for food however once it had arrived we were very pleased with the result.

We decided we would try the gamebird yesterday as we usually love the hungry horse chain. Big mistake! We should have walked out straight after walking once we noticed what state the building was in! The food came cold, and tasted like it had come from a cooker that hadn’t been cleaned for years! Vile! Safe to say we walked out without eating and went to another near by restaurant! Place needs closing down asap!

Food was awful for the price we paid xmas day, all our food from 11 of us was hardly touched, processed turkey and gravy was like cement that wouldnt come out gravy boat or able to share it around it was that thick, complementry drink was a bottle of prosecco to go around 7 people got told if we needed more to ask, when we did ask we got offered dregs from other tables.and told you only get 125ml, so why say ask if we need more. Next table got 2 bottles on there table from other waitress, we had to clear our own table an put on nxt table service was awful. They was rushed of there feet they couldnt cope. 2 stars is for the poor young lad that was running everywere.

Myself and my family had Christmas dinner here and it was delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful even though they were ruched off their feet. The food was great and the portion sizes are massive. Great value for money and there was free soft play for the children. Would definitely visit again.

My family booked for Christmas day lunch . Firstly the table had not been set for right amount of guests . Secondly the food was awful , many plates had a lot of food left on them. The chairs we where seated on were dirty and stained , I believe they were short staffed and we waited 1 hour from finishing our starter to receiving our Dinner. I was so disappointed with the food, sliced round turkey cold, underdone potatoes, overdone veg , Even for pub food it was far below standard. I don't blame the few staff that were working because they couldn't apologise enough. £59 per head for 9 adults and the food was terrible

Paid over £200 for Christmas dinner here and was furious with what we got. We had never been before but seen it had a soft play so thought would be good for the kids. The second you step in the entrance you get a bad impression, the place is so run down, there’s damp and pint peeling off the walls everywhere you look. We had a the soup for starters which was lukewarm and looked congealed with a slice of standard bread, I had 3 spoons of it. I was hopeful for the main thinking you can’t go wrong with a roast really, however it came out and looked like it had been plated up ages ago and just microwaved. Lukewarm again and the veg was all over cooked and soggy, the roasties had freezer burn all over them. I basically had a stuffing ball and 3 roasties for lunch. Out of a party of 5 not 1 of us finished our starter or main. You can’t really go wrong with pre-made cheese cake and ice cream so desert was the only edible thing we had. I have never complained about food/service before but was honestly furious with what we got for our money. I definitely would not return, just wished I’d read reviews before booking

Usual pub fare, not particularly outstanding. Pleasant enough. Whacky warehouse next door handy for kids but dear at a fiver per kid and someonehas to supervise.

S*** show….ordered food, the starters came with the mains, then one family members meal was missed off completely, only to be re-ordered late as a fish/chips/peas….then told there’s no mushy peas only garden peas, then 10mins later there’s no fish…. is scampi ok? We ordered the kids deserts only to be told they didn’t put it through as a meal deal and the tab was closed, so we didn’t get the included kids deserts. The scampi meal came out with no Tata sauce and mains that came out with the starters…(sent back) then came back out cold. Sorry but this place is a joke….1/10 avoid when possible.

This place used to be really nice, not anymore. The food was poor & the steak wasn’t cooked to how we asked. We did plan on having food plus deserts but we left our food & went elsewhere for deserts. The building is in a bad way & definitely needs a lot of improvements doing. I felt like I stepped back into the 90’s… we won’t be going here again !!!

Went yesterday 10/11/24. Wish we would have driven past. Myself and my son got the”Roast dinner” (turkey&beef). Where do I start!!! The Turkey came out round and fully processed that it had to have gravy on it to stop it sanding the plate. (You do get a jug of gravy separate) Frozen style roast potatoes, just missing the filling Vegetables were so bland you could get more taste from a tree branch. My son had the beef dinner and was physically sick after eating the rubber beef which he struggled to even chew. My partner got the mixed grill or should I say the microwave grill !! Centre of the pork was hot, but once again the thing had an outer casing of rubberised crust. Sausages were like bricks. Asked for scrambled egg instead of fried and got chopped up fried egg.missing the chicken breast completely!. We also got desserts ,well sort of. Ordered two apple and berries crumble just missing the berries part, my son had cheesecake which he said was at least palatable. Think the best thing was the coffees ,they at least could not be microwaved. I gave 1star for them. Avoid at all cost. Better food from a greasy spoon on some back road cabin. Been to other franchises and I will say they are worlds apart !

Came for tea on a Sunday with 2 kids, food was a waste of time really, added a pic of the 'tomato pasta' possibly a teaspoon of puree on rubbery pasta, all the chips were cold, steak that was requested medium was rare but just more burnt than the med rare, no skillets so no veggies either, no sauce on the burgers but at least some on the table, it was only £45 for 2 adults 2 kids and it's pub food but it was pants even with that in mind.

We went to the pub with our grandchildren as they enjoy the wacky warehouse. We ordered food from within the wacky and it was brought straight to our table by a lovely waitress. I ordered the fish and chips and couldn’t finish it because the fish was massive, my husband had to finish it for me, the chips were hot and fresh, the mushy peas actually had flavour and the tartar sauce was tasty with the crispy batter. My husband got the mixed grill and he loved all of it. The grandchildren got the kids pasta which came with garlic bread it was a good size for them both and we didn’t hear any complaints. Will definitely be back again when we’re minding the grandchildren as it was a nice day out for us all.

I take my kids to play after school they love this place. The staff are amazing donna is great with kids and always doing as much as shecan to make shure they have a good time.

We had found this gem of a place by chance. We had a delightful and delicious dinner..food was definitely worth the price , there was lot of options.The millionaire cheesecake was the highlight of our evening. It was just out of the world. Jasmin was just amazing and took really good care of us ,especially the kids. Cant wait to come back again.

Absolutely awful food. I got the ‘salt & pepper banquet’ a banquet it was not! It was chicken nuggets and chips with a red salt, scabby chicken wings & 1 chicken drumstick with jelly like substance on it. We went for a family members birthday meal as a group of 20 on Saturday & not one of us was happy with our meal. Really disappointed with the whole service from awful food to chipped bowls. Do not recommend

Stopped there recently for a quick drink whilst travelling the East Lancs. I used the rear entry. My god I was horrified by the state of disrepair of the building. The whole place should be demolished and rebuilt. The window frames are rotten and falling to pieces and some of the windows have no glass. It's a disgrace that this unkempt dump should be serving food. I wouldn't eat anything there. They can spend money on their wacky warehouse but fail to maintain the building in a satisfactory condition. But the sad thing is they charge over £6 for a pint of Peroni as though the place is a premium establishment. Its nowhere near. This is like London prices in a shabby area of Merseyside and a shabby building. Who are Greene King trying to kid. With management like this it's no wonder tgat they are laying off so many people at Bury S E. Avoid at all costs. Even the parking lot is shabby and full of potholes etc. Close your wacky warehouse and refurbish the whole building to an acceptable standard. Keep driving past.

We came today with our 2 autistic children which is always stressful but we had the perfect visit. The food was absolutely gorgeous and the service was amazing and special thanks to Donna in the Wacky who went above and beyond. She is very helpful and nothing is to much trouble and she made sure we felt very welcome and we had a lovely day. We will be back soon.

We stopped going the game bird about a year ago due to poor food,but we went on Saturday for an anniversary meal with the extended family and we was dreading it to be honest but we was happily surprised to say the menu had been revamped and the food was glorious and the staff and chef could cope with the rather large party that came in and was all eating at the same time. Will be going back.

Today we decided to eat for for are dinner. The food was great and there was lots of choices. We ordered a few dishes as my children are fussy eaters. The atmosphere was great and the staff were very helpful. Will deffo be back.
