Carr Mill in St. Helens

Quiz is decent, friendly staff. Can't complain. Always helpful. No complaints. Food is appetising and good selection drinks.

This is a fantastic venue, the quiz night is a great night of fun. This pub did the buffet after my fathers funeral and it was an absolute credit. Everyone said how nice it all went. Eleanor is a fantastic member of staff, and a credit to Green King. She is very friendly, and can't do enough for all clientele.

The burger was awful and when I told the staff all she did was say “oh sorry “ then cleared our plates away. No replacement was offered. The restaurant was cold. However the chips were hot and fresh. Also I thought that £3.30 was excessive for a can of diet coke

Food was brilliant manager was really nice all the staff was really nice very helpful

Found it very much understaffed when ordering drinks then food, not sure if it was just the time of day & possibly a shift change but I'm sure that an establishment of that magnitude should have more than 2 members of staff behind the bar, also noticed the portion size of the food has reduced dramatically wouldn't exactly say its value for money anymore which is a shame. Once again we tried this establishment & Even though the food side of the visit was fine we found that the experience of the bar service was terrible once again there was only 2 members of staff attending to the Bar so had to wait a while to get served, what was also annoying was when it eventually came to my turn to be served a member of staff awaitress approached the bar & asked the member of staff for drinks so he stopped serving the people at the bar to attend to the waitresses order, considering how busy the pub was I don't think it's acceptable to only have 2 members of staff working the bar

There were 13 of us, we had different meals all were great the service was brill also. It was bogof on food and drinks so a cheap night was had by all. Will definetly be back again .

Good place to eat. Food was fresh and tasty. Coctails good as well.

Booked a table but it wasn’t in a good place(near toilets) so we found a place elsewhere that wasn’t reserved. We both had rump steak and a glass of wine. It was all very nice and it was a BOGOF deal which was really good. A special mention for the young girls that waited on us. They were very good / pleasant. We went to the Bottle & Glass the previous month and the experience was nowhere near as good at nearly three times the cost.

Nice food and cheap. BOGOF offer. Love the gammon.

Excellent service and food, fast delivery from till to table and the food is always hot and consistent. Friendly staff great atmosphere.

I just love the staff here. So friendly and attentive. I've taken my mother here a couple of times. And they treat her really well. The food is always on par. Nothing to complain about.

Walking into the pub, we was greeted straight away by a very welcoming member of staff, she showed us to our pre booked table. We chose our food and drink orders and waited at the main bar area to pay. Food came out within 20-30mins and was perfect. We visit this pub quite often and really enjoy the food and friendly atmosphere. 10/10👌🏽

Had a very pleasant couple of hours in there and a nice pub meal.

In May 2024 sadly my mother passed away. As a family we used to all gather at her house not far from The Carr Mill. We decided to get together for a meal before Christmas to remember mum and make sure we all were together as a family some live quite a way away. The staff at the Carr Mill were excellent although it was busy we were never kept waiting to order and the food arrived together and we were all really pleased with it. When ordering a drinks round I asked if I could borrow a tray but the young man serving said he would bring them all over. It has made a very special memory just before Christmas and are really grateful to all the team at The Carr Mill

Come here every year, beer food staff, fantastic nice place, bolwing green around the back worth a visit and food is lovely staff nice and friendly aswell

The last time I had food here it was poor the burger was dry and french fries were not at burger king

A nice friendly welcome . Staff didn't hesitate to answer my questions reference drink selection. Warm and inviting atmosphere and very clean . Table service excellent. Brilliant.

Excellent food, fast service, low prices.

Always loved this place for food and atmosphere, but the last few times I haven't been happy. Service is always good, but the last few times, when it wasn't busy, I had to wait at an unattended bar to order, and certain items on the menu weren't available again. Also, in the past times, there have been buckets and wet floor signs, although the last time they'd cornered the area off, so hopefully that's sorted for next time we visit!

I visit this place often. Arrived 7.30pm. It is normally busy, but this was just right. TV's on with football. Ordered at bar and was served swiftly. Ordered a steak. Cooked to my requirements and thoroughly enjoyed it. Bar staff are pleasant and attentive. My only critique is several teenagers / young men at the entrance smoking.

Had our Club Christmas Dinner and there was 22 of us. Can’t Thank the Staff enough and we were catered for in terms of Service, Setting up, Drinks and most of all Meals that were 3 courses. Cannot Thank All the Staff for their hard work. Thank You

Consistently great food. Loads of choice on their menu. Served hot. Reasonably priced. Friendly environment. Great for kids. Loads of free parking and free WiFi. Disabled friendly. Pleasent staff. All good. The festive menu is very reasonably priced.

Great place for a drink staff friendly food is good good selection of beers

Food and service very good...workmen in the pub carrying out work and noise from the drilling was horrendous and they have been working in there for quite a few weeks no heating on it was absolutely freezing in there overall spoilt our family meal.

Went here last night with my husband he got his food it was cold they replaced it but i sat watching him eat as had esten my food with no other compensation won't be going again

Dana was our server this morning. Very efficient and cheerful. Took our our, brought out our food and asked how everything was. Very professional Had breakfast, great value for money.

The food is discusting I wouldnt go back there ever again. The manager asked us was everything ok, when we both said at the same time, no the foods discusting, the manager just started laughing and walked away. As we were leaving we bumped into him and he asked us did we enjoy our dinner, when I told him it was horrible and that he'd asked us before but laghed at us he said he thought we were messing we said no and he just walked away. Place needs cloaing down

Visited Carr Mill in 17/10 with family and Leo the Pug. Food and drinks were served by Sophie and others quickly upon ordering. Food was hot and tasty, ordered 3 courses each. Only gripe is that when visiting the toilet there is never any hot water running when washing hands, thankfully the missus always carries wipes on her.

Anna was really good and helpfull had a excellent meal

Had two visits here one for a motorbike night and one with family pretty happy with prices and service was pretty quick for the money it's not bad at all nice atmosphere big but easy to find a quiet spot

Can't believe it Sunday no beef or no turkey Sunday dinner and it's a Sunday

Had a carvery on Thursday the food was awful the meat which I didn't eat was full of gristle potatoes and veg warmed up I've been ill since Thursday will give it a wide berth

The staff were excellent, the food was delicious and piping hot.Prices were what you would expect on a Saturday with special offers being available Mon to Fri , as a party of 4 we really enjoyed it , convenient parking makes it attractive to those with mobility issues such as myself.

Come today for a bite to eat, food was very tasty and hot- we haven’t been for about 4 months as felt the food went down hill and potion sizes went smaller too, however, glad we’ve tried it again. Will be back again soon. Service as always was great Thanks all

came for food as online says kitchen closes at 9pm, to be told kitchen is closed at 8pm spent about £20 on taxis to get to this place for not to be able to get what we came for. spent a lot of money in here in the past, very upset and will not be coming again. if it closes at 8pm update online the times you are open til.

We went for a meal with friends. The steak was lovely but full of gristle. We go here a lot for a meal, will not be put off by gristle. We will just stick to the other lovely stuff on the menu.

Good menu with something for everyone. Very nice meals. Well timed service and friendly staff.

Food was delicious and everything was cooked to perfection. Attentive and welcoming staff. Will be back again.

Been here a few times over the years, this visit was a spur of the moment as we've always had excellent experience here. Unfortunately, this time wasn't as brilliant. Hoping next time we visit it will be back to the excellent service & hot food we have come round love.

Food was under par for me. Chicken burger was over over cooked and felt burnt slightly on the crispy crumb. Had better food for the money.

First visit here since moved. Great choice of menu

Went for tea. Ordered a sharer for starter. No garlic ciabatta but wasn’t told when we was ordering. Instead we got 7 chips. Nobody came to collect our empty plates but instead came over and took our sauces to give to another table. After 40 minutes I went and asked someone how long our food would be and she came over and said not too long now. The kitchen only cook when we bring the plates back. The food then came and was okay. My wings had no rub on them as they should. And I had no salad on my plate. There was no check backs throughout our meal. On the way out we said goodbye to a staff member who had long redish hair and she snarled us as she walked past. The two girls on the bar were very nice. Overall not happy.

Great place for food and great atmosphere

Went in Saturday for a meal spent 10 mins in there that was enough found a table was really sticky should of been cleaned as it was reserved later on in the day even ever menu we touched was sticky couldn't handle this so left what a let down actually felt dirty coming out of the place

Have been a couple of times for food and just for just but the staff here are just not very friendly can take ages to be served at the bar and when you are it's not friendly service at all

First time eating here, food good and hot will return and add photos in the future. Another visit with friends for food and drinks. Busy Saturday afternoon staff working very hard.

Food was sub par and served on metal trays for main meal and camping tins for starters! Staff didn't ask if ready for main after starter just brought it out. Wouldn't eat there again .

Wow. How rubbish has this place gone? £28 not well spent. Ordered a steak flatbread, got a beef wrap with a wad of lettuce and the wrong sauce. Sent it back, came back wrong again. Tried send it back again, lad shrugged his shoulders.... oh an a dog was barking whilst I ate.... 🤣

May 2024: Much better now, prices are very good for the quality of food, service is excellent and they have an outdoor area which is also nice. 5 years ago: For £40 each person, it took over 2 hours to finally get our meal. When the meal came, it wasn't fantastic.

We came from scunthorpe to meet family We have been several times before and we love it there its not too rowdy so we are able to talk , food was excellent all 7 of us enjoyed it all. Steak pie and chips, gammon egg and chips, mixed grill and steak and chips. I had a lasagne all beautifuly cooked.

Food was good but chicken served on a stainless steel platter with a greaseproof paper on platter but the pink colour on promotional greaseproof paper comes off on food

Called in for tea with two friends. Surprisingly, all three of us had the same meal, the steak and ale pie. All enjoyed and with the offer represented good value for money.

Great service from Eleanor and Leah, I enjoyed a nice morning drink for st Patrick's day sun shining bowling green looks great.

The chicken mix was amazing and a big meal, staff extremely nice and friendly would definitely be coming back especially with friends and more family.

Got chicken burger came on a tray with a few chips spread about could have done with more chips and a bit of salad to make it look more appetising
