After meeting our walking friends at the Pied Bull for coffees we enjoyed a leisurely (age appropriate!) walk nearby before returning for our pre-booked meal. Amazing hospitality from Lea and great meals enjoyed by all. We were looking forward to ordering desserts but we were all too stuffed after the main meal. No criticism, it just gives me an opportunity to go back and try again! Well done team, great service and quality as usual 10/10

We moved into the area in August and the people we bought the house off rated this place - we had heard mixed reviews whilst drinking locally but thought since on the Facebook page was advertised it was their anniversary’s day and myself partner and Children fancied a roast thought we go along Firstly when I went to book a table on the website there was plenty of availability so we decided to drive down and ask on the bar The lady on the bar - when we asked for table was quite rude - stated there was a private party from 6.30 in the back room ?? And tables were limited - assumed from reading the Facebook page it was open to all customers Then we have a young girl tell us we could have a table - and gave us menus when asking questions about the menu she was unsure of the answers and said she needed to go and ask - my partner asked what the bread sauce was - which was on the chicken roast option - she came back said it was creamy sauce made with flour and milk - my partner was up for trying it When the food arrived - he asked where the white sauce was and her reply was - we have run out !! Think be nice to let us know that so he could decide if he stil wanted it The roast potatoes were rock hard And majority we could not eat could not even slice them with knife and fork and lacked any potato inside The cauliflower cheese we ordered extra was so dried up to the serving dish - cauliflower cheese should have a sauce over it !! Our family meal came to 89 pounds and felt it was lacking in areas for that price The pub had a feel that it welcomed regulars and that feel came from the bar staff and that is sad when we are new to the area and has good potential We have visited Thursday for quiz night and Friday evening few weeks ago and the bar staff was very different and very friendly on those occasions which made us return What a shame

This place has so much potential, but is really falling short in a number of ways. I’m surprised it’s getting so many good reviews and can only assume it’s because people want to be loyal and support their local. Firstly, they encourage people to drop in and work from the Pied Bull but they don’t provide any WiFi whatsoever. You have to rely on the public cloud which is temperamental at best, and this is on a high street with zero phone signal. There are loads of professionals working remotely in the area, WiFi is a basic expectation and they are missing out on potential business by not having their own WiFi. We’ve been in several times and had poor drinks service. Order a cocktail - the girl who does cocktails isn’t working today, sorry. Order a Coke, it’s flat. Ask for a replacement, they just pour another exactly the same and tell you it’s fine. The food is just OK, it depends what you order. You can get much better gastro food for the same price elsewhere, and served by staff that aren’t as disdainful. The place is newly refurbished but certain areas are a mess, namely the toilets - wallpaper peeling off, grubby decor, doesn’t feel clean. A young manager there today was frankly smarmy and insincere. I’m sure it’s a hard job but a bit more attention to detail and genuine customer focus would go a long way. We had a reservation for large family meal in a months time but based on our recent experiences have decided to cancel. This has the potential to be a very successful elevated gastro destination but it’s sliding back into basic fayre and mediocre service at best.

Wowowow!!! I havent been in since the Pied Bull was taken over by new owners and I have to say this place has definitely changed for the better… I have to mention too the service we received was amazing. Ben, I think the manager, saw to us on a what seemed to be chocka Sunday for them and at first we were told there might not be space for us as they were fully booked but he managed to find us a table and thankfully squeezed us in for an absolutely delicious impromptu Sunday lunch walking the dog - PS the Pied Bull isn’t just your average dog friendly pub, Bruno not only got his own “doggy dinner” for free with our order which he wolfed down 🤣🤩 Ben also made sure his water was topped up as it was a hot day which was really thoughtful. Our actual meal itself was amazing we weren’t sure which roast to go for but Ben was super helpful and helped us choose with his own recommendations, I had the roast chicken dinner and my partner had the roast beef rump dinner and the cauliflower cheese side and WOW it was so good, prices weren’t too expensive and the portions are quite generous too. We will definitely have to come back, I’d suggest booking ahead especially if it’s a nice sunny day we would’ve loved to have sat out on the patio but couldn’t with the dog so we’ll 100% be back for some drinks out on the patio in the sunshine 🤩🤩🤩

Please be aware of parking charges when you go to this pub car park !!! :-( I have received a £60 PARKING CHARGE!!! Last week I parked on the car park waiting for my friend to arrive to go into the pub for lunch, as a female I do not like walking in a pub on my own. I sat waiting for 36 mins for my friend, who then called to say she had been in an accident and could not make lunch. The car park was not full as there were only about 4 cars on it. As I had never been to this pub before I was not aware that AS SOON AS YOU ARRIVE ON THE CAR PARK - you have to go into the pub to register your car onto a computer system. Obviously I did not know about this process as never been here before, so did not go into the pub as I got a call to leave as my friend had had a accident. Now I have received a £60 PARKING CHARGE. I did go to this pub for lunch yesterday with my friend as I had not received the fine before this and the food was acceptable, but not large portions. As you can imagine I am very upset and angry by this parking charge and because of this reason I will not go to this pub again. If I appeal the charge and lose, I shall have to pay £100 instead of the £60 - this is a joke!!

Extremely slow service, despite not being very busy mid afternoon. Staff kept forgetting to bring our drinks too, we had to remind them a few times. Allergen menu was very difficult to navigate using their online QR code, especially with no signal and poor WiFi it was impossible. Room for improvement: always have a printed copy of the allergens, please! When a waiter came over with their own phone to show me the allergen menu it was hard to decode as the food shown on the allergen menu was different, or not in order to what was shown on the printed menu. When I finally figured out what I was allowed to have, the manager came and took my order and knew I couldn't have wheat. When the meal finally came, my meal has a Yorkshire pudding on top of it! That has wheat. So cross contamination. And the manager knew that the Yorkshire pudding couldn't be put on the plate. So clearly lack of communication with the waiters and the kitchen staff. GF sticky toffee was served with ice-cream rather than custard which I asked for, and the Sticky toffee has been over microwaved so it was really hard and dry. Other than that, the rest of the food I was able to have was great. But service in need for improvement. Hopefully it was just a 'bad' day

We got a drink from the bar & were guided through the painting. Great fun. We then had a meal afterwards in the bar. Service adequate. Food fine. Good price. Reasonable collection. Staff a little inexperienced the night we were there but friendly enough. But a crowd of drinkers came in & were in the bar area but were incredibly noisy. You couldn't hear the waitress or friends other side of the table. But that wasn't the pub's fault. Overall,

Knew from taste it wasn’t what was ordered. However when I went to the bar the barman said it definitely was. I said it definitely wasn’t and he brought the bottle across to show me. And it definitely wasn’t!!! Anyway it was met with a shrug and a “we don’t have any left” and that was it. Not a great way to deal with things.

Waited 50 minutes for our mains. 1 fishfinger sandwich which wasn't warm and 1 sausage & mash which was an ice cream scoop of mash potato and 2 sausage. Completely unwhelmed. Order desserts ( 2 x salted caramel poffiteroes) but gave up after another 45 minute wait. Atmosphere wasn't great, the group of 4 ladies who were chasing food orders were verbally frustrated, while the 2 gentleman at the next table walked out after chasing their order and it's never appeared. Tbf, they ordered first before us and waited an hour. Not sure what to make of all this, but not sure why they offer a lunch service when they couldn't serve 5 tables.

If you are hungry and you want a Dinner that satisfies you, you won’t get it here. Below average portions, but the quality is good. Usually eat here twice a month minimum but lately the sunday dinners for us seem to be going downhill. Twice we have had to send the beef back as it was fatty, this time it was fatty, very chewy and difficult to cut. I'm not sure if they have changed meat providers or maybe we have been unlucky but we were disappointed to say the least. Vegetables though were cooked to perfection as were the roast potatoes. (though not a lot given) Gravy excellent as always. The staff are lovely and helpful but the incessant "do you need more drinks?" could be cut back especially when our glasses are half full still. Sorry it sounds like a moan but I think if they tweaked things a bit more it would be a perfect place. We will still visit but maybe give the roast beef a miss for a while.

Which is always amazing) was that we didn't feel like we were being hurried! Which was great on a night like Xmas eve. Well worth a visit to the pied bull either for a quiet drink are a big celebration!!

Christmas day meal booked for 1.30pm, really looking forward to a lovely meal sadly a real let down, starters were OK but that's were it ends, main course was served xmas dinner consisted of 2 slices of turkey a piece of what appeared to be meatloaf some sloppy stuffing I think, the tray of veg was rubbery parsnips, carrots and roast potatoes bits, the steak dinner consisted of a piece of peppered steak half a raw mushroom and a hard tomatoes with a couple of fries. They forgot to serve us our dessert and 40mins later after being reminded the Christmas pudding was cold, hard and served with milky ice cream. Another half hour later we got served coffee without cream or sugar which we had to ask for and when that came the coffee was cold which I suppose matched the cold tescos mince pies. The only reason we did not make a fuss about it all was we were out with daughter and grandson and didn't want to spoil the day for them. 1st and definitely the last time we will be visiting the pied bull.

We had Christmas lunch here, and at £80 per head it wasn’t worth it at all! 2 roast potatoes, a few carrots and parsnips, where the veg offering. The parsnips tasting soapy. No sprouts or anything green?? The soup arrived cold, after we were served with amuse-Bouche, which was dropped onto and into my wine glass smashing it. We hardly had an apology, and was left explaining to a young lad what has happened after the young girl had ran off. It wouldn’t have been mentioned if any manager would have come and apologised, but that didn’t happen. The whole day was poorly organised, with not one person asking us if we liked our food, at all all day! Three hours to serve 3 courses…..! Needless to say, we will not be eating out on Christmas Day again. And certainly not at the Pied Bull!

Visited here a few times for food and its been good, including Xmas Dinner Dec 22, so impressed we booked again for this year. That's where the positives end unfortunately. Xmas day Dec 23, arrived and waited 30 minutes before we were asked for drinks. Food arrived warm at best and rock hard undercooked parsnips, them & roasties were rubbery like precooked the day before and microwaved. Again waited & waited for drinks, after ordering had to ask 3 times where drinks where and then double the drinks arrived! Waitress brought puddings, holding them out to us and asked if we wanted them, had to ask which puddings they were to which she responded she didnt know and walked away. Brought coffee & mince pies, not one saucer, and one teaspoon provided for the table. Table behind us got up and left asking for a refund, and the table to the side of us arrived as we were finishing mains and like us sat for 30 mins and other tables who arrived after them served before them.

Very disappointed that they permit dogs in the building, firstly it makes for a non-relaxed setting worrying about getting attacked, secondly it's unpleasant for those who are allergic, and thirdly it's completely unhygienic especially where food is being served. Regarding the food, portion sizes are tiny, the beer battered fish n chips is more like a gold fish and 6 chips coated in salt, you can pay less and get served more in almost every other establishment. As for the staff, what a miserable scruffy bunch, very unprofessional and just waiting for the end of their shifts. All in all, we won't be going back.

Busy Friday night , DJ and 3 deep at bar, shocked to pay £25 for 2 double vodka n cokes and a bittle cider not even grey goose!good atmosphere, no seats for 4 women, found a table that wasn't reserved, was asked to move 5 mins later by a guy , then found another table by chance under coats and bags. Had 1 drink and moved on , couldn't afford stay in here any longer!

Met up with old work friends for a Christmas Dinner. Very pleased with the whole experience. The service was first class and the staff were very helpful and attentive. The food was excellent quality for a pub. We will definitely return in the future and recommend it to friends.

Great to see more vegan options on the menu. I opted for the mushroom and tarragon pudding and it was absolutely fantastic. Perfect roast potatoes as well. Worth the price tag.

Really nice place to eat and grab a drink. The lunch menu is a bargain for the quality and the standard menu is a bit priced than standard pub food but you get the quality you are paying for

Overall very poor. Went in on Sunday, when the markets were on,fairly early and was only handful of people in. ordered a coffee and a tea. Female member of staff, while at the coffee machine, continued to chat to male member of staff, and laughing and looking at stuff on his fone. Eventually Coffee was plonked on bar, followed by tea pot and milk. I asked for sum sugar, she pointed to a stand by the bar, I picked up the sugar, I then asked for a tray, as we would sit outside she pointed in other direction, I picked up the tray, piled everything on it and he took it outside. Paid and asked for some paper towels as the tables under umbrella were wet. She again pointed to tiny serviettes. Unaware that my hubby had already gave her a 2.50p cash tip till I got outside. We were spending under £6 for our drinks, so quite fair on price, if it was hot! . Did not deserve a penny of that tip, rude, unhelpful and lazy. Ashtrays still full on tables. Tables not wiped, chairs all over the place, guessing from night before. with the 5/6 Members of staff I seen all chatting and doing nothing, you would think that they'd send someone outside to tidy up and wipe the rain water off the tables, knowing there was markets on, and would be busy. But no. If I could give them 0 stars I would Service - dreadful. Coffee - Luke warm. Friendliness - none Appearance of pub - grim It's a good job I took some serviettes as was only given 1 spoon, and certainly wasn't going back in for another. Quickly drank our drinks and left.

Stopped there recently for a quick drink whilst travelling the East Lancs. I used the rear entry. My god I was horrified by the state of disrepair of the building. The whole place should be demolished and rebuilt. The window frames are rotten and falling to pieces and some of the windows have no glass. It's a disgrace that this unkempt dump should be serving food. I wouldn't eat anything there. They can spend money on their wacky warehouse but fail to maintain the building in a satisfactory condition. But the sad thing is they charge over £6 for a pint of Peroni as though the place is a premium establishment. Its nowhere near. This is like London prices in a shabby area of Merseyside and a shabby building. Who are Greene King trying to kid. With management like this it's no wonder tgat they are laying off so many people at Bury S E. Avoid at all costs. Even the parking lot is shabby and full of potholes etc. Close your wacky warehouse and refurbish the whole building to an acceptable standard. Keep driving past.

Absolutely horrible food. Chips were definitely warmed up, fish had more batter than actual fish and the peas came in a lump. Avoid this place if you value your health.

Today I was a part of a walking group of 28 people! i really was not expecting the amazing standard of ALL the dishes that came from the kitchen. It’s a few years since i have eaten here, but it was delicious 😋i had the multi seed avocado with tandoori chicken kebab with a pineapple and ginger dressing absolutely gorgeous. My friends all raved about their choices all the dishes were hot, considering it was a large group service was great 10/10. Well done Tracey and Theresa and your team 😋 I will be back next week and will recommend to all my family and friends.
