Typical weatherspoons, good to rest up for a while

Originally waited too long, and ignored which would have been 2* but staff member was very good after 4* Average 3*

I've drunk it many a Wetherspoons pub and this is one of my very favourites. Although it can sometimes take a little time to get served, the service is first class and the prices are very competitive. The atmosphere is generally buzzing. I actually prefer a bit of peace and quiet and I can get that if I go in at the right time. Dan and his team run a good ship and a splendid time is guaranteed for all.

Breakfast choice when in Chester especially after a night out. Used the app to order and was correct. Good Breakfast, well cooked although the bacon was a little fatty for our taste.

Nice place on a Saturday dinnertime, quite busy but we found a table. Ordered drinks and 1 fish and chips meal and 1 scampi. Food was delivered quickly and was excellant. Drinks of 1 pint of Acorn, and Stowford were also very nice. Bill just slightly over £20. Very good value.

Even after we requested the table to be cleared, only dirty plates were removed, leaving the table untouched. Despite tables seated after us receiving their meals, ours never arrived. Enduring a 50-minute wait for our food was extremely disappointing, reflecting a very poor performance.

The usual decent food, and inexpensive. Not impressed with the amount of cheese on my baked potato. They had no tuna. The spud was too small to be classed as a baker. The side salad was lacking in ingredients. But this is weatherspoons! If you want better, go elsewhere and PAY higher prices.

Typical Wetherspoons, service was good and fast. Food was also very good but a few young mothers with their children made a huge fuss and it was very loud. Buttermilk Chicken Burger and 12 Onion Rings are hard to beat

Worst breakfast ever. Not only mine but also my wife. People on next table sent there breakfast back, they said it was stone cold. Three other tables complained while we suffer eating ours. Very unusual for Wetherspoons.

Food is good. Service is okay. Atmosphere is not good for those who jus want a quiet vibe. Otherwise it is good

Got a full English and it was cold, sent it back and what returned was luke warm at best. Made worse was lots of people had the same problem. Its not hard to cook food and keep it warm.

I ordered a traditional breakfast and sausage butty for myself and my husband. I had to send my breakfast back as it was cold and the replacement was as bad as the first. In fact, 5 other people had to send theirs back and their replacements were barely warm too and I saw some leaving as much on their plates as I did on mine. I have had many a wetherspoons breakfast over the years and this one has put me off. Won't be going here again.

Very busy when we went but we were served quickly and food was hot and tasty. Staff were friendly.

No complaints whatsoever. Easy to order, quick delivery and tasty food.

Only called in for beverages before going back to coach. However plenty of room to sit down comfortably and rest. Light and bright interior with no pressure.

Visited twice over a weekend Tables not cleared at all after food No wine glasses Manager walking around wearing imaginary blinkers as he couldn't see the mess the place was in.. only concerned with talking to the locals

The young girl that bought our drinks to the table was damn rude to my wife and me, absolutely no manners at all.

Called in with my 11 year old grandson who treated me to dinner. Typical Wetherspoon's, friendly staff and great service, would I call again? Yes.

Absolutely disgusting worst Wetherspoons I’ve visited and worst staff I’ve came into contact with, came to Chester for my birthday decided to come here for the last couple of drinks. They decided instantly not serve me because in his words I was “f@cked” I decided to walk out without causing a argument with him which if I wasn’t sober I think I would of caused a scene I chose not to because that’s not me. It may of been what I was wearing or the fact they shut at 12 and we had gotten there half an hour before I’m not entirely sure but they were perfectly happy to serve my boyfriend. Maybe he was into guys but alls I can say is that he needs to get a new job because that job isn’t for him I think he should be cleaning toilets instead of working behind a bar where you have to smile.

Ideal British environment to get to know British culture 😋, nice place, food there is everything, I would go again.

Soup was tepid. Chips were only just warm. Staff fantastic.

Not your best Wetherspoons but been in worse. Bit messy upon our visit. I think the glass collectors must have phoned in sick. Nice pint though and always good to see the toilets upstairs or else it wouldn't be a proper spoons!

Very busy place, and through all the bustle and rush the staff were helpful, cheerful and gracious. So impressive. The tikka curry was delicious, as usual.

Helpful staff and good service, clean and tidy

Poor food. The curry was watery the rice dry and stuck together and the nan breads were as hard as rock. I did not eat it all. I was offered a free drink which I declined. I will not eat in there again.

Great Wetherspoons with a lovely atmosphere. Spacious and clean. Great choice of drinks including a good variety of ales. Plenty of choice on the menu for food. The service was fast and the food was tasty and good value!

Handy location to/from Train station and town centre. Nothing special, but quick service on a really busy Saturday afternoon. Bit of a novelty having the toilets on the ground floor, no 3 day hike upstairs 😁🍺

Clean the tables. Find people to serve the bar who are not zombies. A smile goes a long way. Great prices. Good value. Is it so hard to get decent workers?

Good pint of Shipyard food was good although the poppadom was soggy due to the hot Nan bread was placed on it.

Utterly ridiculous from the moment we arrived. Got the meal order incorrect 4 times!!! Lol! Once is ok. Twice maybe! Four times is just a disgrace!

Me and my mum came here asked for a starter , main and dessert telling them to bring separately but they bring them all at once so by the time we finished the starters the mains were cold and desserts aswel, plus the staff was moody and didn't have any manners didn't even ask how the meal was honestly it's disgusting very disappointed

I’m a regular to many outlets,ale first food second.I can accept most of the shortcomings of the experience but I found this outlet a challenge.The staff were very indifferent,service from some poor.in the hour and a half there,not one table was cleaned,ours was sticky.if this was a shortage of staff that is not our fault but I think it was down to poor management/staff training?The outlet is also getting very tired and the upholstery on stools and alcoves was badly stained and filthy.a very unpleasant experience. The final negative was a shortage of many of the more popular food items,another pointer towards poor management. I have no intention of returning to this outlet unless I read many more favourable reviews.

One of the best places to hangout with friends and family... Food is good andthe price is affordable. The staff are professional and respectful.

Iv visited this wetherspoons a few times over the years and it's one of the good ones friendly staff helpful food is good has well can't complain a nice pub.

Very busy and noisy staff very helpful but two of our party's meals where not nice burger was burned and the fish was cremated sent back twice and twice still not nice ...my meal was ok but it has put us off returning friend who paid for meals was promised refund for the two meals which she received

Food was awful. Had to take it back. I ordered panini and chips. Panini had 1 slice of cheese and the tomato was that thick sliced. I had about 8 chips on my plate. I took it back to the counter and they just looked at me with discussed then it took them another 20 minutes for them to bring me more. And the same was with the other meal. I am totally annoyed with this,and will not go in there again.

Good for a quick bite to eat. You get what you pay for.

Not to busy for a spoons probably because it was midweek and January not after Christmas festivities plenty of beer to choose from didn't eat so can't comment

Standard Wetherspoons, good service

It was nice to meet up there with some friends for 2 hours, my all day brunch, and curry, and burger meals had by my mates were all good.

As usual, the coffee machines where empty and had to wait for them to be filled up again, just not enough staff

Being a pub on a Saturday night in a city centre we were told to keep the noise down because there where kids 🙄

It's a wetherspoons, you get what it says on the tin, was warm, friendly and good prices..

It's a Wetherspoons and does the same drinks and food as all the other Wetherspoons. Which I suppose is comforting.

Standard JDW pub, lovely staff. Always enjoy Sir Tim Martin's pubs, this review is "said as seen". Not an historic property despite its location, but delivers on JDW remit.

Came here for breakfast on a quiet morning. Easy to order food at the bar. Served quite quickly. Food was great. A nice atmosphere here.

Worn, tired and not very welcoming. Went in for breakfast but could see more pattern on the plate than food. Toilets needed a good clean.

Food came quickly and was very good. Can't fault the service but the atmosphere was a bit flat. Was in the Bull and stirrup earlier and this was better due to the vaulted ceiling.

Just as other recent reviews have said, plates piled up on every table. We had 2 chicken burgers 🍔 and they were god awful at least the san Miguel was nice will not be going back 😡😡

A good place to eat. Not many clients but it was a rainy windy day in Chester.

no barstaff on, plates of half eaten food on every single table and shelf, dirty glasses everywhere, Guinness that tasted of line-cleaner, filthy conditions in the toilets, I would never expect much from a 'Spoons, but this place was beyond dreadful...

Food was a good o.k. could do with being served hotter. My meal would be more enjoyable if it was possible to add French Fries 🍟 to your menu.

Very dirty place. Tables full.of empty glasses and pots. Once again not enough staff working at the time. Food was OK for the price but ate the food with dirty pots on the table. Not good give a wide berth if you want to eat here.

Not local but was happy to stop for few drinks as the place seemed warm a d welcoming and busy on cold and windy night. Good beer choice. Cheep spoons prices. Tons of food options (sadly pizza was not available when requested). Friendly local crowd.

The food in here is shocking. We got 2 steaks and for the same price in other pubs you get a delicious steak with chips or mash and peas and onion rings and peppercorn sauce but they brought our food over and it was just a lump of steak and some freezing cold chips and a blob of mash. Couldn't eat the chips and the steaks they had smothered in garlic for some reason. Definitely won't be going back. Update* we have been feeling ill since eating here. My partner has been vomiting not keeping anything down.

I do my best to avoid Weatherspoons due to their owner & his ideology, however sometimes it's just the best option. This visit was very typical! We walked in & one of the regular drunks (happy drunk) met us, rambling on! But the food was decent for the price, & they had J2O in many flavours, as I don't drink alcohol. A typical Weatherspoons, but in a stunning location, just minutes from the Roman Coliseum.

Brilliant boozer. Breakfast was nice.

Spoons. You know what you're going to get. This one is never empty, always thriving, especially busy during weekends.

The staff were very off hand our food arrived at different times and when we asked why were told they were busy

Came for a meal and drink. The place was busy and tables were laden with dirty glasses and plates, there was litter on the floor including flyers advertising for staff. There were no wine glasses, but I couldn't help thinking that if staff actually cleared the tables and put the dishwasher on there would be some available. Food was passable, but it's microwaved, so nothing much can go wrong.
