The Square Bottle in Cheshire West and Chester

Visited this wetherspoons yesterday morning whilst visiting Chester, we ordered our food which took a little while to come, I started eating my eggs benidict and it wasn't very hot.. I told a staff member and he took the food away and after about 10 mins with me asking again where my food was, he then got someone to bring the food back.. They had put it into a microwave and blisted the food...not giving me a fresh portion... I'm afraid this place is awful, and won't be visiting again...

Great value for money. Food pretty good. Beer selection good. Staff were friendly and service good. Very busy pub with a lively atmosphere.

We visited at 5.30pm on a Monday evening and the place was disgusting. There were lots of free tables but they were all overflowing with dishes and glasses. Finally found an empty table but has to ask for a cloth so we could clean it before we could settle down. There didn't seem to be any hurry for the staff to clear the tables and when they did everything was piled up by an open hatch and there was liquid literally flowing on to the floor. We will not be visiting again

Took us a long time to find a table without dirty glasses or plates. When staff cleared tables (which took a long time) they didn't wipe any tables.

Came here to catch up with a friend and have dinner and drinks. Food was tasty and reasonably priced. Plenty of seating was also available. My meal came quickly, although my friend’s meal came quite a while later. Otherwise would have awarded 5 stars.

Busy, busy, busy on a Saturday, but staff never stop to keep glasses full and tables clear. And no dogs - perfect Saturday afternoon session!

What a smashing Wetherspoons. Elsewhere we'd been paying £17 to £19 for a round of 3 pints. We came in here and the same round was £6-78. No wonder it was busy!

Table clearing and glass washing very poor, hundreds of glasses and plates piled up waiting to be washed, bar service dreadful, always a huge queue and staff couldn't care less, worst spoons I have been to

If you are on a budget then there is no better place for food and or a drink. Unbeatable value!.Also free WiFi and table service (via the app).It's very popular with shoppers because of its location.

Busy wetherspoons but i believe due to drop off of coach tours and location, down side dishes not cleared from many tables and cleanliness quite poor, tables, menus sticky & small fruit fly while your having meal

Went to Chester the other day went to spoons for a great breakfast had a beer festival on real ale £1.99 a pint i wish we had a spoons in Crewe

Awful! Water for the tea wasn't very hot and the cappuccino was the coldest I've ever had! My husband said the gents toilets were an utter disgrace!

Great breakfast at a great price. Had the full one with extra black pudding, went down nicely. Ordered on the app and on table within about 15 minutes, on a busy Chester race day. Couldn't fault it.

Poor man's curry, chicken tikka masala, without poppadoms, without naans, and without a reduction in price, seems like a rip-off to me.

It's a chain of less expensive pub food and drink with specials. Locals enjoy it all over the country.

We didn't eat here but we all had a fantastic time there. Very friendly staff, very happy to help.

It's a Wetherspoons, food good for the price, great value on drinks with friendly staff and quick service.

Good service and atmosphere but cooked breakfasts need to be served much hotter!

Delicious steak meal which they kindly swapped chips for mash and gravy - all with reasonable prices and a lovely waitress. Couldn't have asked for more and will definitely go there again when in that area.

The usual Wetherspoons meal menu with basic but good value meals. As usual a great selection of beers at much cheaper prices than most pubs. The service was functional and efficient. All round cheap and cheerful. Centrally located in Chester

No matter where I travel in the UK, Wetherspoons always provide good food, good choice of beer and a reliable stop-off.

It was curry club Thursday I had a tikka masala which was good the pint of cask beer I had to accompany it was excellent.

FOOD DIDNT ARRIVE WITH OTHER MEALS AN WHEN I ASKED WHERE IT WAS IT WAS JUST GETTING COOKED AN WHEN I ARRIVED I RECEIVED A FROZEN JACKET POTATO WITH COLD BEANS AN WHEN I TOOK IT BACK I WAS GIVEN A PACKET OF CRISPS TO APOLOGISE. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING AND INSULTING

Enjoyed good atmosphere, we had the fish and chips, lovely, beers not to expensive.

Called in Wednesday 11th Sept.. Had a few pints of Abotts Ale very nice. Had fish, chips , mushy peas and a portion of onion rings...Great meal...Good portions...tasty and hot. Recommended

Pleasant enough. Food usually pretty decent but can be a little hit and miss. Usually when it's quieter it's not always quite as hot for some reason, maybe people go off doing other jobs so no focused on getting the food out straight away

Service was a bit slow, but it was bank holiday Monday. Food was the same as other Wetherspoons so at least you know what to expect. Children's meal a rip off. Ordered ham & cheese wrap which is one slice of each in a wrap on its own, very dry, with a couple of slices of cucumber on the side, the fruit packet is the tiniest of jelly shape, and the drink is the smallest glass of apple juice you've ever seen. You get better value in Mc ds

Very busy but plenty of room and friendly welcome and service. Usual Spoons menu and drinks, competitively priced with quick service.

It's great. Cheap nice. But use the disabled loo downstairs as the toilet is up a lot of stairs and my knees are old.

Pretty dirty, looked like tables needed a clean.

We visited there today with my mum nan and 4 young children. We had ordered food and was waiting well over 45 mins for it so my mum complained and then had to go and ask again as another 10 or so minutes had passed she was spoken to with a rude attitude to tell her she had only been waiting 20 mins even though we was going from the time on the receipt so we knew she was wrong. The staff eventually bring over the food and very snotty the girl asked wer the food was going so I told her she then went on to slam all the cutlery down on the table right infront of my 2 year old son. So my mum went to speak to the manager and on approaching somebody to ask and tell them what the problem was the staff member then attempted to hit my mum and had to be held back by another staff member. Absolutely disgusting behavior. Shouldn't be aloud to work around people.

One of the staff that bring food to the table spoke snotty and also threw the cutlery down forcefully next to a 2 year old baby. When confronted she then went for my mum and had to be held back by another member of staff and when the manager was told he then lied and said it didn't happen. Terrible service. Definitely need to keep there staff on a lead.

Quick servce but chicken pink inside so didnt eat it.Told staff when collected plates just said sorry with no eye contact.Previously a gentleman asked staff to tell chief that what was suposed to be mashed potato wasnt.Also couple by us complained meal cold they took one meal away while partner ate hers that was three complaints in less than an hour !!!!!

Service was shocking. Place was rammed at 15:00 on a Saturday afternoon and they had 4 staff, 2 of which were doing food.

So when I arrived there was about 3 or 4 tables not cleared or whipped down so I had to move my plates to the bar for them and wipe it down myself , I gave the benefit of the doubt on this as it looked busy. I ordered off the app and the transaction went through ok but there was an issue of the food coming out before we had our drinks , they finally arrived 10 minutes into eating our meals I would advise that the staff focus more on there customer service and the plan of the site too because I seen someone walking around for a few minutes looking at every table for a number , that’s a little bit embarrassing Overall I give it a 3 on service because of the , the un cleaned tables , late drinks and not knowing the plan South Korean chicken is a winner tho 🌶️

Ordered barbecue chicken arrived stone cold sent it back had to wait 30 min while my partner ate hers , got a refund on one of our meals.two other customers wasn't happy with there meals either.one customer said I hope I don't get food poisoning tomorrow .avoid

Ordered 10 chicken breast bites and soy sauce I was given 8 chicken breast bites and BBQ sauce… the chips were cold and the chicken tasted dry

Never been disappointed by wetherspoons until today. Ok they had been busy but every table was filthy, plenty of staff available to sort it out but only 1 wa doing this in between serving people at the bar. Many people cleaning their own tables, dirty plates everywhere. We were told that due to bank Holiday the afternoon deals for Monday were not available, how come they were available via the app. One member of staff didn't understand what a bank holiday was and ask how long it lasted. Saw one young couple with 2 children clear their table not once but twice, dishes piled onto the bar and ignored by staff for over 30 mins. Really not a great experience. Only 1 member of staff appeared to be focused on their roll and getting on with things.

Very good Spoons but food service very slow. Busy days expect to wait 20 mins for food!

We just had breakfast whilst on holiday. Same great service like usual at Spoons. Used both Spoons in Chester preferred the other one The Bull & Stirrup.

Great place for a drink before the races 2 beers and an orange juice 9pound 18 pound in the course and not even pints 😕

Nice little Spoons, only 10 minutes away from Chester Zoo, which was our reason for visiting to have breakfast before the zoo. Breakfast was lovely and arrived quickly.

Food o. k., refreshments o. k. Service and cleanliness very iffy. We are used to a higher standard. A shortage of staff? But you must ask why, when the hourly rates are pretty good

Food was nice, easy parking outside - £1 for 1 hour on the street and after 9pm it's free. 1 hour was plenty of time. Drinks and food came quick - staff were friendly. Place was clean and tidy ao were toilets.

Dessert was good. Ordered on the app and received our order quickly.

Very busy pub. Food looked ok although we never ate there. Friendly bar staff. We sat outside as few chairs an tables there. Was a lot of children inside. There is disabled bays outside but where busy an no one moved their car while we were there.

Regular wetherspoons. Good breakfast and quick service. Staff very friendly, quick and helpful. Normal choice, and nothing was out of stock either.

Let me start by saying I am a solid Spoons fan. The pub itself was ok on the outskirts of the shopping area so not too busy. We ordered food which you don't pay much for and on this occasion I was sadly disappointed. I ordered a curry, bad move. Rock hard clump of rice, rock hard naan and undercooked poppadoms absolutely dripping in fat. It's hard to understand how a ping meal could go so terribly wrong 😞

A good example of a withies, breakfast was piping hot, service excellent and quick.

Just been in the square bottle in chester had fish chip the fish over cooked curry sauce cold and fish not taste nice I wood not b coming back and no reckmend it the table has all glass and plates on staff no cleaner them

Quite a busy pub , staff are very pleasant, food is general pub grub , service is pretty good , down side is they don't seem to have enough staff on to clear and clean tables , so it let's it down as there is glasses ect

Parking poor. Food even by Wetherspoon standards was not great. Although it is what is is when you dine there...Hit and miss....

Hey, like many Wetherspoons, the prices are great and the beer is always well-kept. I also really like how quick the staff are at serving you.

I recently had breakfast at your establishment, and I regret to inform you that my experience was less than satisfactory. The staff member at the bar displayed a distinct lack of enthusiasm for their role, which unfortunately left a negative impression on me. Upon receiving my beverage and proceeding to my table, I noticed that the juice glass had lipstick on it. I returned to the counter to request a fresh glass due to hygiene concerns. However, the staff member's attitude was dismissive, and she simply poured the juice from the tainted glass into a new one. Appalled by her lack of professionalism and disregard for customer service, I decided to leave the drink and return to my table. Regrettably, two minutes later, she came by and placed the drink on the table in an abrupt manner.

Came here with my Girlfriend on a Day Trip to Chester & had a nice & much needed Breakfast at The Square Bottle Wetherspoon's & the Service was very quick. This Wetherspoon's is the larger & better of the 2 in Chester although we did go for a relaxing drink at the Bull & Stirrup later on in the afternoon.

Lovely atmosphere. Large place perfect for the whole family to have breakfast.

It's a wetherspoons so you know what your going to get, more family friendly than most and did show the football

Call This a meal Ive had more From McDonald's!! Plastic cheese!! Cold chips! My hubby got a curry the naan bread was rock hard!!! Absolutely shocked on the size of this meal!!
