We come here regularly and always order the same fish and chips but the quality is dropping. The size of the fish has halved but the prices have consistently gone up. Used to love coming here but really disappointed in how it's gone downhill. Was the best fish and chips restaurant for mile around, NOT ANY MORE....

Nice friendly village pub. We have been many times before and taken our two dogs who were made welcome with dog treats and bowls of water. We had lunch of scampi chips & peas followed by apple pie and ice cream with coke and J2O. The lady behind the bar was extremely friendly as was the guy who brought our food. Unfortunately I didn't get their names. Overall our experience today was as we would expect. The pub was quiet and cool on a hot day. Food was good fresh and tasty with the portions just right so we were not overfaced at lunchtime.

Please don’t waste your money here. Came with my dog for a quiet pint at 5pm on a Thursday afternoon and was served by the bar staff to no complaints and with ease. Thought I would stay for a second so went to order. Was spoken to so rude by the landlady who sat on a seat guarding the front door that dogs are not allowed. She embarrassed me in front of a group of customers that she was next too stating this even when I was served initially. I have witnessed dogs in the pub plenty of times hence me choosing to go there. The website and internet also confirms this. Have the correct policy and follow through with it with all customers rather than treat everyone differently. Terrible customer service this is by the person who is meant to run the business. Left shocked and won’t be returning id advise you do the same if you have a dog.

Had a lovely meal here in April so went back for husband's birthday. What a completely different experience we had. The young staff where pretty clueless. The waitress couldn't remember what was unavailable on the menu so went off to find out but never returned. Our drinks arrived and we asked the young man if we could order food as we'd been waiting over 15 minutes by then. His response was that he was just the glass collector. We did eventually get to order but there were no prawns so no lemon and prawn sauce with salmon and there was no pineapp!e to have with the gammon! We both ordered fish and chips, which knowing the menu was not what we had planned on having. My husband had ordered this last time we visited. The plates were very hot but the chips were not particularly hot. The garden peas were an atrocious dried out offering. The tartare sauce was actually on the plate whereas previously it had been served in a separate dish as had the mushy peas. We had virtually finished before anyone asked if the food was ok. The fish was lovely but that's about the only positive thing I can say. The shock was the bill. £7 for a pint of IPA Neck Oil. Rip off.

Booked a table for lunch for a family members 93rd birthday. Was promptly served with drinks and our order taken. Just after a party of 8 people arrived. They were served with their food before us. The waitress told us that they had pre ordered their food when she heard us talking about this. An hour later we received our food, which is unacceptable and the standard of the food was very disappointing. I feel that it spoiled what should have been a special celebration. We shan’t be visiting again, after being customers since 1995.

Stayed here whilst on a walking holiday. The rooms are good though no more than that. Comfortable but be warned that they are above the bar so there is a bit of noise. And at weekends, they close at midnight so you may find yourself being kept awake (unless you join in the revelry at the bar!). The clientele seemed to be locals when I was there so by 10pm they'd gone and the staff decided to shut a little early. The bar itself is fairly ordinary and whilst I can't speak for dinner (having had an excellent Indian close by), the breakfast was OK with some reasonable choices. Overall, an average experience, but be careful of the room choice with regards to noise from the bar.

Most of the food was really nice, but some of it was not great, some was dry and just didn't have a generally nice taste, however the food that was good, was really good! The food and drinks were worth the price, However at the bar there was a lovely lady (50s ish) who looked like she was training two new people at the same time! How is that fair on her! Was very chaotic at times, but the lady was absolutely lovely, the two blokes that were being trained, not as much.
