The best restaurants serving British food in North West

Staying on business, 2 younger members of staff were helpful but the woman who appeared to be in charge was extremely rude and put a palm towards me while I was talking to her about what I wanted to order. Won't be back.

Excellent service. The food is always nice and atmosphere relaxing. Staff are always friendly and can’t do enough for you.

Este es un pub maravillosamente situado, al lado del canal. Hay una buena selección de cervezas, aunque, para mi gusto, demasiadas cervezas de barril y no suficiente barril de cerveza real; aunque había una verdadera sidra. Disfruté de mi cerveza, incluso si estaba un poco nublado. Sin embargo, estaba decepcionado con la comida que pedí. Por capricho, probé sus "chicken & Bacon Dirty Fries" con la prometida "salsa de queso derretido". Había mucha salsa de queso y rozaba lo desagradable. Si hubiera podido, lo habría raspado. Tal vez tuve mala suerte con lo que ordené, pero ciertamente me decepcionó.

Expected bigger rooms as it's not an express, it was actually smaller than an express we stayed in the same week. Service was good, breakfast lady was efficient tho not friendly. Good location for town.

Outstanding service, every member of staff was incredibly friendly, helpful and wanting to please. Food was amazing, we had dinner one of the nights and breakfasts each morning. High quality and local ingredients cooked to perfection! Will definitely stay again!

One of the best Irish pubs ;seating not too good ìf you can get one

We came here yesterday evening as a party of 10 people to celebrate my mum‘s 83rd birthday. Some of some of the party ordered off the menu and some had the carvery. All the food as usual was delicious and and served promptly, despite the pub being very busy and was also very reasonable price wise. I’ve been coming here for quite awhile now and would definitely recommend The Grapes to anyone well done guys!

Partner Ordered a drink at the bar on Saturday night , wasn’t offered different variation of rose wine. Ie white Zinfandel, dry, or sweet like you are in most other bars . Given house cheap wine which tasted like vinegar that had been left open a week . Bar woman wasn’t helpful and just said “ he asked for rose and lemonade . then spoke to the manager who said the same . no offer to exchange the drink so I asked for water . Terrible customer service and attitude at a time when people are struggling and these places want customers to spend in their pubs .

A very nice canal side pub stopped for a rest break and drinks, I will definitely return for food especially the desert menu. Friendly place and locals.

Had a great time, as we went for food and drinks due to it being a friends birthday! The food and service was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful! I would like to say thank-you to Jen who was superb, very friendly and made the evening a happy one.

Lovely place. Food was excellent and service very speedy. Definitely worth a visit. Will certainly be going back again.

I visited this place several years ago and found it to be fairly reasonable in terms of cost and food-quality. I visited again yesterday and my experience was not good. The prices are enormously high and the meal I ordered was of very poor quality. The kitchen staff were clearly not very interested in supplying a hot and well-presented meal, which was sloppily served and cold (no, it wasn't a salad). I would advise future customers to visit the ODG nearby, where the food is reasonably-priced and of a high standard. I shan't visit the Slanty Slee's again. Disappointing.

Staff cant cope. Went today at 10:30am. Had a short walk with our dog and then sat outside and ordered 2 coffees and a cake and waited and waited and waited. 25 mins later, seeing others being given their coffee’s and cakes as soon as they ordered them, my husband went back to see where our order was. Having queued another 5 mins at kiosk ! Beautiful as the place may be, if you wait something as simple and quick as coffee and cake, be prepared for a long wait. I cant say they were over busy , but they were clearly struggling to cope with demand. Hate to think what it will be like Easter weekend !
