Really lovely room - spacious, warm & nicely decorated - recommend. Good bathroom. Great dining & service in the evening . I’ve eaten here several times over the years & it’s always good. One comment however - breakfast billed as 8-10am. Also told this on arrival & there’s a notice at breakfast room with these times. I needed breakfast at 8am but there was no one there & room was dark. Waited for 5 mins & a staff member arrived but was not kitchen - she apologised & said she was waiting for kitchen staff to come in . No one came so I had to leave with no breakfast. So fine if you don’t have an appointment !

Stayed for one night and got a warm welcome as soon as I walked in, felt right at home straight away. The room was clean, and had everything I needed. The restaurant was quiet but still felt cozy, especially with the open fire going. The food was great & the steak was full of flavor and cooked just right. Breakfast was included, and there was loads to choose from. Everything was cooked well. All in all, a great stay for the price. Would definitely go back!

A previous frequent and regular stop for us on our way West. Now returned after a few years since moving to Dorset. We love the location and the ambience hasn't changed at all. A hearty and friendly welcome by Tim, but entirely appropriate and not overfriendly. Excellent and a credit to the pub. Served by Shannon who was equally superb and dealt with our difficult friends very well indeed. We will definitely return soon, but on our own........... Thank you for an excellent lunch and superb service.

My husband and I had lunch for the first time at The Museum Pub/Restaurant. My husband had the beef burger meal which was very good but I had the buttermilk chicken burger which was very disappointing as it was a chicken thigh burger! It was the worse chicken burger I have ever had all other occasions it has been made with a chicken breast. Which was such a shame as it was a lovely pub/restaurant situated in a beautiful village.

A disappointing experience. We all chose the mushrooms on toast with truffled ricotta, a fried egg, gremolata & Winchester cheese which sounded good. When it arrived the fried eggs on top were overcooked and solid so we reported this. We hoped the whole dish might be re-done as by the time the new eggs came the rest of it was cold. The ricotta was thick, the mushrooms were cold, there was no gremolata and very little cheese to be seen. It was cold, very dry and we all agreed it was inedible and very disappointing. The staff were very good and offered us an alternative. It did take a long time as the kitchen was busy but the replacement dishes were much better. We appreciated the way the staff dealt with this but we won’t be going back in a hurry.

We stayed there for one night and thought it was beautiful. It's British and if you expect the facilities of a 6 star hotel in Dubai - no, fortunately it's not that. It is very clean, everything has been prepared with a lot of care and is simply British. I wasn't expecting a thatched roof in the middle of England, but it was cool. The staff was genuinely friendly, without the fake smiles found in large hotel chains. The breakfast was just as lovingly prepared. It's a little out of the way, but endearing. Gladly again at any time.

We stayed in Moles Cottage for the weekend of my son’s wedding. The cottage is part of but next to The Museum Inn. It is an absolutely beautiful thatched cottage with all amenities needed. Each room is en-suite and towels are included. It was a perfect place for a large family wanting to experience a family event together. The only minus was that on the day of the wedding, the water would not come through hot and so most of us had to have a cold shower. The manager was apologetic and did send someone to look at it. For this reason I have only given 4 star. I would rebook though as we did have a lovely time. The cottage was dog friendly and the garden is neat and enclosed. Obviously it is an older property so comes with its own character.

The friendly welcome, smiling, warm and very attentive. The service is very professional and attentive. The very English decoration which makes you feel good. We recently had the great pleasure of staying at the Museum Inn, and I can honestly say it was an experience that exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we arrived, Mel and Paolo made us feel like we were part of the family. Their warm welcome and genuine hospitality set the tone for a truly memorable weekend. The rooms were not only beautifully decorated but also incredibly comfortable and peaceful. And then there’s the food. Oh, the food! This is a hidden gem. The menu had an array of dishes that you’d expect from a high end restaurant not a village pub The breakfast, in particular, was a highlight, great ingredients and perfect hosting. What truly sets the Museum Inn apart, however, is the atmosphere. Mel and Paolo have cultivated a space that feels more like a welcoming country home than a traditional pub. Whether you’re enjoying a meal in the dining area, unwinding in the inviting guest lounge, or engaging in friendly conversation with the staff and locals, you’re constantly reminded that this is a place where your comfort and enjoyment are top priorities. In summary, the Museum Inn in Farnham offers everything you could want in a countryside escape—fantastic food, charming and comfortable rooms, and an atmosphere that makes you feel instantly at home. Our only regret is that we live five hours away and can't return as often as we'd like!

Friday lunch for my wifes birthday. My wife had gone with friends a few months ago and enjoyed it. We started with the mixed meze. Not a lot for the money but the big surprise was the yogurt dip which had obviously been made with a desert vanilla yogurt. The waitress agreed it smelt of vanilla but nothing was done. The cocktail we ordered was odd. The pineapple was obviously funky. Next a very greasy fish and chips with a curry sauce that was horrible, cannot describe what was wrong with it. Mushy peas just peas not mushy. My son had the ravioli. The strangest taste and texture combo and not cooked correctly. Gave up on the idea of desert. If it was cheap I would understand but at £40 per head without desert not acceptable. The place was dead on a Friday lunch which initially surprised us. Yes we should have complained but who wants to double ruin a birthday. Certainly memorable as the meal continued to repeat on us for the evening.

We went for lunch with Friends as it seemed a good half way meeting point. The Staff / Service were on the whole friendly and inviting. We did not have a break down of costs, but given we only had 4 mains, 3 desserts plus of course some drinks, the £160 bill at the end seemed pretty high. We probably will not return.

Our room was small and the bed rather soft for us but ok with a large bathroom. Unfortunately it was very close to the outside/smoking area of the pub but since we weren't there much this didn't matter. We were supplied with tea and coffee facilities including real coffee and a cafetiere there were also biscuits on the first day but they had ran out of these on the second day. Most of the electrical sockets were very close to the floor (which I think is against electrical regs for the UK and certainly unsafe) anyway too low for us to use our phone chargers (with usb socket on the bottom). We did find another socket that was halfway up the wall so our phones were left dangling in the air. I've put two stars for the service partly because the staff seemed rather confused as to how things worked (a helpful 'regular' was able to help the staff on several occasions as they are dealing with a 'new system' apparently). There was no consistancy with how the breakfast service was run. Coffee in a cafetiere one day cups the next. Eggs were totally overcooked both days. However the food was otherwise good. On the second evening we ate in and were thinking about a desert, managed to get a menu but then didn't see any staff for over 30 mins so gave up. When it came to paying we asked for an itemized bill which was itemized in the form of 'bar food', 'bar drinks' and was (we managed to work out) wrong. However they had already charged us which was fine for the room but not for the other items. Eventually they agreed that the bill was wrong as they couldn't find £35 worth of stuff on their system even though they'd added it to our bill! Anyway they instigated a refund which we did receive a few days late. A very convenient location for our purposes. Overall its a nice place the management just have a few staff training issues to address and I'm sure it'll be much better soon.

Amanda and colleagues are very friendly and welcoming. The Inn is in a very good quiet position and the food/beer are excellent. There are two points to note. 1) The wifi and mobile data in the stable block are weak - it would be helpful if they could be boosted. 2) In room 6, the plastic strip under the shower glass swing door leaks significantly and needs to be replaced. All else fine thank you.

We visited with friends for a fabulous evening of drinks with just the best humour in the bar. Lovely staff and locals. We toured the rooms and wish we had stayed over, we will be booking for sure. The food looks lovely. A real find!

This is our second visit for meals to The Museum Inn at Farnham since discovering it is now under Butcombe. We used to stay and dine there frequently and are so pleased that the ambience, quality of food and service is still as good as it used to be. We certainly will be visiting again - and maybe on a special occasion will stopover in one of their lovely rooms.

In the quaint Museum Inn, Owen and Will did roam, Seeking solace in stories and a touch of home. They wandered through halls where history clung, Till hunger’s soft whisper was sharply sung. The pub was aglow with a warm, golden light, Amanda, the lovely, brought joy to the night. With a smile like sunshine, she greeted them both, Her kindness and charm like a comforting oath. The kitchen had closed, the last orders long past, But Amanda's sweet spirit was gracious and fast. She spoke with the chef, in soft, earnest tones, And soon a miracle, their hunger postponed. Two plates of fish and chips, golden and bright, Arrived at their table, a heartwarming sight. The fish, it was crispy, the chips, oh so grand, A feast from the heart, a touch of her hand. On Wednesdays, a deal, a pleasant surprise, 25% off their food bill, joy in their eyes. Amanda's kind gesture, the evening’s sweet thread, Wove a night to remember, in the pub where they fed. Owen and Will, in the Museum’s embrace, Found a haven of warmth, a delightful place. With Amanda’s kindness and the chef’s skilled hand, Their night at the Museum was perfectly planned.

Great place for an overnight stop in a lovely rural location. Really friendly service and tasty food (the rhubarb blondie was the highlight). Room was cosy, a little dark, but comfortable.

This is the second time we have been here now. The first time was just for some take away chips and curry sauce. Returned a few weeks later again on the way home from the lakes and had the pensioners special (we aren’t pensioners). Perfect size if you aren’t starving. Fish was lovely with light crispy batter, lovely chips and again … their amazing curry sauce with the bits in. This place (plaice) is lovely and clean. As a lot of fish and chip places can be a bit on the grubby side so keep up the good work.

Nice visit to the beehive on New year's Day. Chicken wings were delicious with crispy skin. The fish and chips were some of the best pub fish and chips I've had in while.

Put a order in waiting over 30mins to be confirmed and to only find out through facebook it had been sold 16th of September. Glad I did cash only as it would have billed my card. They should really take the Website down
