Vale la pena el viaje en coche hasta encontrar este pequeño hostal y restaurante familiar.

The farmhouse really is in the middle of nowhere- however good home cooked food awaits you on arrival for the Sunday Carvery.

A special Sunday lunch with a special friend and my son. On arriving the farm yard was full of cars and cosidering how remote it is, this was surprising to us. We must have been last to arrive and our table was beautifully set for us. 1 menu provided to view, even though more were to the side, bit of a shame as it looked like they were skimping! The place was packed and cheery in atmostphere, my son commented it was too loud for him. Starter OK: soup bland according to 12 yr old (!) melon seemed fine and fish gousions were ok, and tasted/ appeared to be carefully cooked from a from a frozen packet - tartar sauce saved the day on that one. Main course at carvery - beef was ok, little chewey...not melt in the mouth ! Lamb was lovely I am told. Self selection of vegetables limited, no roast potatoes and yorkshire pud was heavy. The sweet trolley was welcome and strawberry shortcake, chocolate roulade, fruit pavlova were all enjoyed, I was impressed that they came back and offered another sweet taster serving which went down well with my party. This is something they are renowned for, I am told. We declined tea / coffee. All in all OK but I would not go back or recommend considering it was £16.95 a head for food that was on the main ok! Service OK - one nippy lady with blond hair, oooh!

Really lovely room - spacious, warm & nicely decorated - recommend. Good bathroom. Great dining & service in the evening . I’ve eaten here several times over the years & it’s always good. One comment however - breakfast billed as 8-10am. Also told this on arrival & there’s a notice at breakfast room with these times. I needed breakfast at 8am but there was no one there & room was dark. Waited for 5 mins & a staff member arrived but was not kitchen - she apologised & said she was waiting for kitchen staff to come in . No one came so I had to leave with no breakfast. So fine if you don’t have an appointment !

This is the second time we have been here now. The first time was just for some take away chips and curry sauce. Returned a few weeks later again on the way home from the lakes and had the pensioners special (we aren’t pensioners). Perfect size if you aren’t starving. Fish was lovely with light crispy batter, lovely chips and again … their amazing curry sauce with the bits in. This place (plaice) is lovely and clean. As a lot of fish and chip places can be a bit on the grubby side so keep up the good work.

Found this place on Saturday 11th Jan in the evening. First of all the lady on the other end of the phone when I rang up was so friendly. This was a bonus from the word go. Sounded very welcoming. Meal was gorgeous. We had the sirloin steak and deluxe burger all of which were home cooked and generous portion size. Desserts were lovely as well. We had our cockapoo with us. He loved it. Was given a bowl of water. We were sat by the log fire which was just lovely and added to the atmosphere. Not too busy either but as we were leaving around 8.30pm it started to get a bit busier. The young man and lady serving us were really nice. I asked how the pub got its name and the lady took the time to tell me the story of how it got its name. My husband went to the bar and also commented on how friendly the lady behind the bar was too. Would definitely recommend this lovely place and we would definitely return. Thankyou
