We stayed in room 7 cosy double which was lovely had everything we needed but what we didn't realise it was near the kitchen extractor fan which came back on before 8am as we are early risers didn't bother us too much but if you want a lie in could be a problem. Our evening meal was good but no check to see if everything was OK and long wait to ask if we wanted a dessert at this point we were passed it. Breakfast was excellent and the young lady that served us was lovely. The surrounding area is second to none and we would return

Went for dinner but found that there was a Wake going on at the pub. Reassured by bar staff that we weren’t in the way and it was business as usual. Ordered drinks and food at the bar before we realised that the wake attendees were getting more and more drunk; shouting, shrieking, banging the table, swearing and making everyone’s evening quite awful. We thought the manager, who was adding to the cacophony by regularly throwing wine bottles into a bin, would intervene, but it appeared his colleague was actually sitting with the loudest of the drunken mourners. The food arrived. Tepid, tasteless, expensive fish on a cold plate- Matching the temperature of the pub ( we kept our coats on) We ate and left as quickly as possible, never to return. I have told as many friends as I can to avoid this absolutely dreadful place.

Went for tea with our two young boys, the pizzas were OK and chips amd drinks are expensive for what you get. Nearly £70,for two pizzas, one chips, wine, Guinness and two soft drinks. The biggest negative is that they put £5,95 service charge without telling you. If they tell you up front we wouldn't have minded. Pity won't be going again

Food was ok, nothing special, some staff are fine, tall skinny guy with long hair behind the bar has an attitude though, what’s his problem? Does he not like his job because it comes across that way, not been since it’s been refurbished but won’t go out of my way to visit again soon

Situated on the main Rochdale-Rawtenstall road it is an olde worlde pub. Usual range of food on the menu and fairly standard price. Some in our party felt that the meat was not very good but on the whole ok. The staff were friendly but service was a bit slow. Lovely old traditional country pub. Car parking ok.

We've eaten here several times now. Superb choices of menu catering for GF, Vegan, Vegetarian and meat/fish eaters. Superb food, great value. Excellent service, very attentive and I'd recommend here anytime. Free parking as well, take note Buttermere Court🤗. Will be looking forward to our next meal there whilst visiting the area. A real ' Find '. Thanks, Alston House staff😊😊👏👏. Just took my partner out for her birthday, 31st March. Left flowers on the table as requested. Beautiful. Thank-you. Food, as usual, exceptional 😋. Would recommend the Thai Curry, gorgeous 😍. Thanks to the staff for a lovely evening. X Just had another lovely meal tonight, 8th July, great service once again, with two large tables for the staff to cope with, we were just a couple whom once again thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thanks to Carole and the team. See you soon. 🤗. Again had another fantastic meal ans super service 17th May 2025. Love coming here. Full marks to all the team

Ate here for tea on a Saturday. It was quite quiet which was surprising. Fast and friendly service. Plenty to choose from on the varied menu. Both the chicken burger and cheese burgers were tasty. The tikka dip was lovely to dip your fries in. No complaints. It’s a lovely, historic building with nice decor inside.
