Enjoyable place to eat and drink with a homely atmosphere. Good selection of food and drinks that you can enjoy inside or outside by the canal, weather permitting obviously 😉

Didnt eat so couldn't say..but the plates looked nice and was busy and booked up...nipped in for a pint with dog after a long walk...canal next to it for a stroll too...worth a trip even if just for a drink..dog friendly too

My family and I visited today (party of 12) we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. They were absolutely delicious, 10/10 from us all. The chef is truly good at her work. The young ladies waiting on are a credit Aldi. Thank you from my whole family

A wonderful pub and restaurant, we visited this afternoon for Sunday lunch and it was just fantastic. Everything was perfectly cooked, very generous portions and the quality of the ingredients really stood out. The team are friendly and so helpful this is a wonderful place and we will definitely be making it a regular visit.

Went with a crowd of walkers and the food was excellent. Service was a little slow, probably due to the number in our party, but was friendly and efficient. Good atmosphere. Also advertised live music/acts on certain evenings. Plenty of free parking.

this is our second visit just to make sure it wasnt a fluke and we was not dissapointed. the food is spot on and the staff really pleasant. we eat out regular and roaches lock is now on our list of places t visit.

Nice surroundings and friendly staff. Unfortunately no sandwiches just main meals so a couple of us ordered pate which was OK but didn't come with any salad to speak of, just a bit of lettuce (a bit of tomato would have been nice) One of the party had fish and chips which he said was lovely. All in all a pleasant visit. 4/5.

Only tried the chips because I wasn't there to have a meal and they were cooked to perfection. The relationship between the staff and the owners is a lot better than most other places you'll see. The staff and owners are all friendly and welcoming which helps make the atmosphere as nice as it is. I would definitely recommend going to the Roaches Lock if you're looking for a 10/10 experience by yourself or with others.

I’ve been coming here for years after walking locally and always recommended this place. After today I won’t be again. I ordered the fish and chips and the fish was extremely tough and foul tasting so I didn’t eat it. The young girl asked If it was ok to which I explained it was not and asked for the bill. I ended up having to walk to the bar to pay and asked again with the same reply. “oh I’m sorry about that” she said while taking the money, very casually. I would not return nor recommend this place again. Definitely a new chef but usually the staff are great too? Disappointed and felt robbed when leaving. Solo diner.

Had a nice piece of Pork ready for the oven , went upstairs for 10 mins , came down to salt the pork and it has disappeared 🙄! #Dog! Went to the Roaches to drown my sorrows and landlady after hearing the story came and produced 2x lovely roast dinners to go ! Absolutely bloody lovely , can’t fault the food or service in the Roaches Loch 👌. Spot on ! Ps: Guilty dog still begged in hope for some Roaches Roast beef 🙄

Great atmosphere, fabulous food with a varied menu and terrific staff. A great lunchtime treat. Will definitely go back.

We had an amazing meal. I had the lamb shank. It was beautiful! My partner had a burger that was massive! It was all excellent. We will most definitely be back.

Tried here after being disappointed by Sunday menu available at another local pub. Although we hadn't booked we were seated and served quickly. Food was delicious and service excellent - will definitely return.

I just wanted to send a quick email to say how much we enjoyed our Christmas day dinner with the Roaches Lock. We have had a mixed experience with other venues over that last few years and I was worried that as the person organising it that things may not have worked out. From all my family who attended I can say that this was the best Christmas day experience that we have had in 8 years of eating out on Christmas day. The staff were fantastic, food was perfect and the experience was genuinely what we wanted Christmas day to be. Thank you for everything. Please let me know when the book is open for next year as we would love to book again. Jonny

Great place to stop for a pint whilst out for a walk. We didn't have any food. I believe I had a Moorhouse Ale on draft. Recommended

Lovely lunch, unfortunately the oven was broken at the time of our visit but the food we had was delicious especially the soup which i wasnt going to have but did cos i couldn't have the garlic bread starter.

Food and service excellent. Great location would highly recommend, will enjoy returning soon - 3 cheese and onion pie 😋.

What an amazing place the food was excellent I ordered the Sunday roast it was amazing but way to big for me, the staff and the service they delivered were fantastic, we sat in the garden room which was lovely, would definitely recommend a visit

Had Sunday lunch here, and it was lovely and a fantastic portion for the price. The restaurant was relatively quiet as we were eating late lunch/early tea. The restaurant area is a lovely seating area and quite cosy. The only downside was that there was quite a wait for our mains to arrive even though it was not overly busy.

We enjoyed the food and the staff were friendly and efficient . Will definitely go again..My only constructive criticism would be, that they were short of milk to make coffees etc. ,.Surely the manager could have an emergency supply until the regular delivery is made.Seems they are losing custom for such a preventable solution.

Cajun skewers were absolutely brilliant would highly recommend. Freindly and timely service. Really nice portion size just right.

We come tea time there was 7 of us we been before but won't be coming back the service was not good there didn't have any milk so we could not have a coffee the pie was put in a microwave and the apple crumble it was soggy and the staff was just sat round a table we booked for 4 the only thing that was cooked fresh was the chips how we waited it should been fresh

Been there before after long walk at the nearby reservoir. Lovely relaxing views of the canal if outside or under the, new for us, "conservatory". Service is very good, very dedicated waitresses.. Nice cold beers and coca colas. What was really bad was the amount of time we had to wait for the food to arrive. That's not the fault of the waitress though. And honestly, don't think any was great. I cannot say how busy it was inside the pub. There were only 4 tables outside. My gammon was a nice piece but sadly, overcooked and very salty. Probably overcooked while other food being cooked. The pies weren't great and the batter of the fish'n'chips wasn't crispy. And the worst, i am sure the peas and the mushy peas were from tins. Lovely chips. Unusually and in the good side again, related to the waitresses, after one round of drinks, we asked for jug of water to share btw 6, and they brought it in a jug with ice and lemon and the 6 glasses, all with a smile. Lovely. I think I would go back bc the position and the waitresses dedication and might try to eat again, just in case it was a bad day.

Called in for a bite to eat with two friends. I had the steak sandwich. I know it’s only a sandwich but when the chef (Malcolm) asks “how would you like it cooked”, that is a good sign. The sandwich came with home made coleslaw and salad. A simple dish, easy to get wrong, this was superb. Fresh, tasty and delicious. Thankyou Ebony for very attentive table service. I wish the new owner, Karen and all her staff success.

Had a few pints bottle of wine didnt have anything to eat lovely pub staff very pleasant Stayed overnight in the carpark in our campervan we will definitely be back

Just had a lovely family meal, they accommodated the changes for an allergy/fussy eater with no issues. The food was delicious, I had the chicken burger which was moist and probably the nicest burger I’ve had in a long time. The service was outstanding, nothing to was too much work and very friendly. Will certainly be returning now the menu has changed as so much more choice.

Only went in for a quick coffee after a walk, but the menu looked so good we decided to have a few bits, so glad we did! Really nice home cooked food!

Very limited menu, first of all wasn't given the option of sandwich menu, eventually went for the steak ciabata,fries and rings arrived first then had to wait a while for sandwich, asked for mustard when it did arrive and this also took a while,very bland not a lot of taste to it, salad was rocket salad, unfortunately not to our taste, very strong, not informed that 1 portion of fries would do between 2, £4+ a portion, onion rings very greasy and to much batter, again £4+ a portion, didn't like the fact that a customer was allowed to have his dog off the lead in the conservatory and it actually had a wee on the artificial grass whilst we were eating, unfortunately wouldn't go again,and in the past we would call regularly on our walk.

Very busy pub with excellent food, friendly staff and a warm, family-friendly atmosphere. Looking forward to going back there.

This is a gem of a pub. Busy on Sunday afternoon, but food service was pretty quick. Food was excellent and portions big. Staff were all pleasant and friendly. Very definitely one to go to again. Next time I'll book!

Called here on saturday night 9/9/23 for the first time, i always drive past doing deliverys i had cheese and onion pie was really nice with proper home made chips not the limp frozen ones, loved the stack of veg absolutley georgous, hubby had fish and chips nice crispy light batter handmade chips peas were georgous not too dry sat outside after meal georgous area to soak up the sun. Best place for a great atmosphere bar staff was great and 100% on food well done team will defo be back

Used to drink in here when it was The Bridge Inn and lived virtually opposite when they gutted and opened it as The Roaches Lock, the food nowadays is very good, good staff,nice setting, not a great wine selection though, but reasonably priced so would recommend it 👍

Nice pub. Pleasant and eager staff. Soggy batter around only just decent fish, limp and tasteless chips. We tried it - won’t be going again.

Positives - food tasty, quite generous portions, nice decor/setting. First waiter was lovely. Negatives - service, had to be prompted for drinks/desserts, also mix up with the desserts ordered so majority of family ate at different times and one had to be sent back as it was cold, also wasn’t informed of additional fruit in apple crumble that wasn’t listed on the menu description. Disjointed service/different waiters each time. Manager apologetic but was told if they had been informed before paying, then the dessert that was retuned could have been taken off bill but already paid at that point. Sorry, won’t be returning.

haven’t been to roaches lock in some time well lovely to say we will be back . Food was perfect , customer service was brilliant and the girls that was serving the table was so lovely and caring. Such a warm and welcoming pub and the staff , owner chefs and everyone there including the puppys gave such an amazing and special experience for us . A special shout out to ebony , Hannah and Courtney ,For being so lovely greeting us with warm welcomes . Food amazing as ALWAYS !! 100% recommend

Food was lovley! but the contant barking of dogs the whole time we were there cut our evening short. I love dogs and have a yapping one of my own but due to that wouldn't dream of taking him here...

Had my second Sunday lunch so I'll review both together as they were identically delicious. I walk on Sunday's many different ways so have tried many Sunday lunches, this is my first choice.

Cute lil pub nice inside because kept more traditional and they added modern. Outside area really cute for a drink by canal.

Just had tea at this establishment, I am very pleased. The food, service and atmosphere was excellent. The staff are attentive and very friendly, the food was delicious and very good value. The pub itself doesn't look the best from outside but the interior is gorgeous. Overall rating 10/10.

Went for food and drinks for a friends birthday and the food was spot on, got told there was a wait on food but it all seemed to come really quick and was really nice. All the staff were so friendly from start to finish, couldn’t fault it at all!

Honestly disappointed in the staff and the customer service. The lad working which I didn’t get his name was absolutely rude and had no manners. Was not patient with serving and was shaking his head all the way through as I was making the orders for my drinks. I was supposed to also have a meal here but with that customer service I just had to get up and left as I didn’t feel comfortable anymore. I brought my family here for a first time and was disappointed. Won’t be coming here anymore for a fact. If I could would give 0 star!

We visited Roaches Lock as part of our team building day at Reuben's Retreat. Staff were incredibly helpful and kind. Food was delicious and portions were huge!! Lovely pub with a great atmosphere and amazing staff which made our team day even more magical xx

It's a typical Thwaites place so the drinks aren't good. More a place to go for the view and perhaps the food (though I haven't tried that)

The new person who owns or runs this amazing pub is extremely rude, brings a horrible atmosphere and attitude to the whole place and is extremely patronizing. I used to love coming here. I won't be coming back until she's gone. P.s this isn't prime cut steak!!!!!

Very cosy, traditional pub. Separate dining area. Good outside seating area by the River Tame. We only had a couple of drinks of drinks there, but definitely coming back to try the food. Good atmosphere. Friendly and welcoming staff.
