The Prairie in Burnley

I came in on Friday evening, they were extremely busy but the lovely lady Sharon on the bar found us their last table. Even thou they were busy the staff were very accommodating and helpful. Sharon gave us some recommendations on drinks and I have now found my new drink of Smirnoff raspberry, vanilla and rhubarb vodka with lemonade mmmmmm Food we had Boss burger and curry house feast. Delicious. Thank you to you all at The Prairie. You made our night with your banter and friendy persona. We will definitely be back soon.

Great meal ,at a great price.Fish and chips were excellent as was my husband's lasagne.We were a party of 8 and hadn't booked but the service was very efficient and asimportant pleasant.

We came to Burnley with my family for a post Christmas holiday. It was last Sunday we were unsure where to eat and my husband found this pub and book online at 7:30, which was the only time available. We took it as I wanted the kids to eat dinner. When we finally arrived they say Sorry !! We are not serving food!! Head office has change the booking setting. And that was it… no thinking that maybe serving food out of hours will help the business? Maybe apologising and offering a suggestion where to go will go down much better. We are unfamiliar with the surrounding area. Terrible customer service !! No show of any kindness or interest to help. Anyway that was my experience

2 couples called in for a few rounds of drinks. Didn’t eat but the food we saw looked good. Barman could have been happier. Drinks didn’t seem crisp & fresh. Not a lot of atmosphere on our visit & the gents toilets were like a fridge freezer. Definitely the coldest dampest ones I’ve visited

Went for Xmas lunch. The meal was totally inedible. 5 of us left the meal, we were 2nd sitting and it was obvious the food may have been cooked fresh for the 1st sitting but our food had obviously been stood warming for 3 hours. When we brought it up with the manager she wasn't bothered at all. She lacked any customer service skills and argued that there wasn't anything wrong with the food. Totally unprofessional attitude and actually downright rude to paying customers. Unfortunately the meal was paid in full in advance so they weren't bothered and it showed. £238 for 4 adults and 1 child so no value for money what so ever

Just come back from xmas dinner, what a disaster. Starters ok, then main course. There were 5 of us and 4 mains were correct but my pre- ordered main was wrong. No apology just told thats what I had ordered! which was incorrect as would never order a wellington as i cant eat pastry. The server went away and slammed the pre-order sheet down and said, there that's what you ordered, I pointed out I never filled in a sheet I ordered over the Internet so obviously someone had filled it in wrong. So they said OK will do you a salmon. Obviously I knew I would have to wait, even tho not my error. Everyone had finished when they finally brought mine out. Now onto the meal. All our roasts obviously had been stood, cold, soggy and not browned. Each veg soggy, overcooked. All 5 of us left our meals, so when the server collected our plates I said the meal wasn't good, she never apologised just said I will send the manager over. Now bear in my 3 of us work customer service jobs and my daughter a manager. What an attitude! I was told no one else had complained, the table next to us said their meal was also inedible, my husband had spoken to people outside who all said the same. All the manager did was argue every point with us, she was totally non plussed about our complaints and definitely needs customer service training. I said can you bring our desserts out asap as my husband has to go into work. Lo and behold they brought out my dessert wrong. When we tried to address the point with the manager she said ive other tables to serve. Im also a very polite and non aggressive person so my complaint was given fairly and politely.All in all a totally disaster of a meal and made to feel like they were doing us a massive favour serving us xmas day. We had to leave abruptly at 4.30 cos guess what my husband also is working xmas day night and had worked xmas eve night and will be working boxing day night and I'm sure he will treat his customers a whole lot different. Never again

Food and drinks arrive so fast but are lovely and hit, good portions and decent food. Staff give a warm welcome and seem happy working there and were so helpful when I was dining alone with a small baby. It's had a lovely atmosphere over Christmas with the trees and decorations.

Got fish and chips delivered and was absolutely disgusting and the portion was shocking for the money AVOID AT ALL COSTS NOT GREAT WHAT SO EVER

Very good service Table of 15 at 4pm on a Sunday. We had festive menu and everyone enjoyed the food and the service. Excellent value for money and thanks to Jay for looking after our party.

Lovely staff- we were greeted and taken to our pre-booked table as soon as we walked in. The food was good and a really good price. We enjoyed our family meal out and will be back soon.

Food was great which was cooked by Charlene. Sharon and her staff are great. All very helpful. Sharon told me about the Quiz they have on a Thursday night which we then stayed for. They also told me about Karaoke 🎤 😂 on Saturday nights. I'm not the best but ill definitely give it a go.

Ordered from the festive menu, Turkey was from a packet,Patatoes and veg frozen. Will not be returning.Apple pie and custard didn't look good.

Went here on Saturday the 16th now not been for a while as the food was not very good last time we went...but what a difference the food was very tasty and beautifully presented 😋 there was 6 of us and not one person complained about the food or service everything was hot and cooked beautifully well done to the kitchen staff 👍.. we will be coming again and it was nice to see all the staff happy too and thank you to the manager who had just come back off holiday..hope who ever is cooking stays as it makes all the difference 👏👏👏

Have not been here for a while..as the food was not good last time we went but we had heard it had got a lot better so gave it a try ...and what a difference between then and now the food was delicious everyone had different meals and all enjoyed it the food was hot cooked beautifully very tasty I had tandoori chicken sewer the tandoori chicken was cooked perfectly..all staff were very helpful and happy 😁 the atmosphere was great and we had a lovely time we will be back before Christmas 🎁 thank you

Amazing place, great hotel and pub, and there is a karaoke night on Saturday.

1st time here and can honestly say that the food was delicious and cooked exactly how myself and fiancée liked it. My mega mixed grill was probably one of the best I've had and my fiancée's boss burger was absolutely perfect for her. The staff here are great, very friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend coming here if you are in the area and we will definitely be returning.

The food and service was of a very high standard and certainly will be visiting again very soon as my experience was very pleasant

Really great food. Staff were friendly and helpful despite being very busy (at 4.30pm on Saturday). Many of the clientele seemed to be regulars which is enough to recommend the place for me.

I really enjoyed my mixed grill here. Well recommended for family meals out. Staff are polite and the place is also nice and clean. But... the toilets however have those timed automatic lights. If you happen to be in there for an unforeseeable period of time then I suggest you take your phone because it'll go pitch black without warning! And the lock on the bog door doesn't work either. Visited with family for tea midweek, all had a great meal and dessert, food was served quickly and the lad behind the bar was friendly. Desserts were 10/10. Didn't go in the bar area but it looked nice and busy in there which is nice to see

We've been here several times over the past 5 years or so and it's always been semi decent food, but today we ordered the mixed grill (and paid extra to upgrade it) and it was a massive disappointment. The steak was overcooked and of terrible quality. The portions were small and it took a while to be served, despite there being very few people in there. We won't be going back.

Absolutely lovely clean bar and restaurant, everything was immaculate and the staff were so polite and superb. Quick to serve us and help us to our table and the food was out fast too, drinks were delivered to our table and again were fast at that also. We were definitely impressed with the food and the size of our portions, quality was superb and we left stuffed! Pricing was great, can’t grumble at that fish and chips for £10! Especially when it was so good too. Plenty of parking all the way round the place, free for customers too. Big teles in here to watch sports also, I like that the ‘pub’ side of the place is separated nicely with the glass wall so it’s lovely and quiet in the restaurant side. Atmosphere is lovely, I think the way it’s decorated is very modern and traditional at the same time. Great mix of furniture and artwork.

Appalling customer service and rude manageress . Food served was cold. And had to be sent back twice . No refund offered for my returned dish which I refused to have re heated for a 3rd time

Very small portions, you can now understand why they offer the double up on some dishes. Paid extra for bread and butter. It came halfway through the meal with an empty butter portion. The food was lukewarm on arrival. Very disappointing.

It's a chain pub, but the breakfast is quite reasonable and not too busy, and the filter coffee is decent. Regular pub food is pretty decent too, at reasonable prices.

I got a just order of Garlic mushrooms and salt and chilli chicken. It was cold on delivery and I only live 5 mins away by car. There was no taste in the mushrooms and the salt and chilli chicken was over cooked!! Un edible. Sort it out!!

The staff were extremely warm and welcoming, food was delish. Fab service overall. I had tandoori skewers which were lovely and my dad had the boss burger which truly lives up to it's name. Not only was presentation of food amazing so was it's taste.

Went tonight with the kids and wife, the food was very poor cone of cobs that came on the kids meals was FROZEN they forgot to put them In hot water the manager came over to us has I took them back to a member of staff and all she could say was sorry very bad service would not recommend to anyone

Food was absolutely atrocious, beer battered mushrooms over cooked and arrived nearly cold and mixed grill was ordered with medium rare steak but arrived well done. Returned home with severe stomach ache and still have discomfort and upset stomach. Wouldn't waste my money again!!!

Haven't Eaten here for a long while due to service and cold food reheated in the microwave but thought would give it a try!!! Arrived waited at the bar a few minutes for staff then directed to our table which was sticky and facing a damp wall where the wall paper is peeling off. the cutlery and utensil pots were filthy so gave this to staff who obviously was embarrassed and apologised took it away . nothing further. no checks during meal to see if all is OK. Staff polite, wanted curry but they didnt have this item..food arrived mostly ok sent the garlic bread back as it was cold returned few minutes with fresh order. puddings ordered - sundae was ok but the sticky toffee pudding had a weird taste so left it. Overall feel off the praire it needs a full deep clean all utensil holders and cutlery need disinfecting. wallpaper needs replacing. Won't be returning again .

This is the second time we have been here and the food had been poor, ordered steak and rib combo with mix grill, chips came out cold but waitress was happy to change them, however next lot was just grease inside, both steaks was cooked how we wanted them however over half was just fat even though we paid to have them 8oz, you could knock someone out with the onion rings, safe to say I won't be returning here, there was no check back to see if everything was OK plus took 25mins for food to come out despite it being fairly dead. And finally my partner fount a hair in her chips which at that point we just left.

Have lunch here every week and the food is always fresh, hot and really tasty. Not had a bad meal yet. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and staff are always welcoming and friendly.

Booked for birthday and father's day meal, food amazing staff brilliant nothing to much trouble best meal had for ages and thankyou too the lovely lady that brought the birthday cake out . Would highly recommended. Thankyou for making it special. 5 ***** all the way

If you like dirty cutlery and when you ask for it to be changed, for it then to be inspected like you're lying, then this is a dream for you! Chef and guy on till on massively different pages. "Oh this this out of stock, oh no that's the adult one, oh no that's the kids one". Food was alright, at best. I asked for a coke and got told it was only pepsi unless I wanted a coke in a bottle, for them to give me a pepsi max. Seemed to take a little too long to bring food out but that's by the by for me. Pic attached is the cutlery holder. They didn't bother changing it with the dirty cutlery. Don't know why. 1/10.

The prairie never fails to let me down. Excellent food. Great choice of new menu. I love bringing my mum in for her dinner and Katie the barmaid still remembers everthng we order. Management is great. Food is excellent and worth the money. Will continue coming back.

Booked table for 3 at 7.30pm. Arrived on time. Stood waiting at the bar for about 5 or 10 minutes waiting for a member of staff to show us to our table (or even acknowledge our presence). Informed by the member of staff that we needed to order our food by 7.50pm. Was not informed by the member of staff that we needed to order our food from our table via an app. Once we established we needed the app to order our food it took quite some time to download the app, enter our details, figure out how to navigate the app and then order food. After attempting to place the order (which we were unable to do) I approached the member of staff only to be told that the kitchen closed at 8pm and they were unable to serve us. Rather than offering an apology for the mistake in not informing us of the app all the member of staff could do was repeat that she told us to order our food by 7.50pm. At no time did anyone even bother approaching us to enquire as to whether or not everything was ok when it approached 7.50pm and we still hadn’t placed our order. The member of staff was very brusque with us and it was very apparent that she’s had very little customer service training. We will definitely not be coming back to this venue.

Nice pub for reasonably priced food with family. Kids really enjoyed their burgers. Staff were amazing but the order at the table app was rubbish. Go to the bar.

The manager sharron would not come speak with me or appologise i was waiting 1 hour for food then my order was wrong my kids had eaten before my food was brought out so i didnt eat it as i was on my own the whole experience was discusting the kids curry was full of grizzle no refund or anything she the staff said she was busy i waiting half hour and she still didnt come out ive sent a formal complaint to head office will never return again

Have been to The Prairie many times over the years and it has always been value for money , I ordered a chicken sizzler there was hardly any chicken and it was just about cooked and the whole meal was tasteless, , left feeling hungry and disappointed

Easy to book online. Prompt, friendly welcome when we arrived. Allocated a table in the dog friendly area as requested. Orders at the bar, without any wait, from a varied menu. Food arrived promptly, well presented, decent portions, cooked to perfection. Staff member did a 'check back' to see that all was in order. Great value food and a drinks promotion on at the same time! Would recommend and certainly visit if in the Burnley again.

Visited the prairie as always. Yet again another fantastic visit staff amazing as always Katie especially always informs me of the deals they have on. Meal was fantastic not a bite out of place love it and definitely will return. The steaks are amazing they just are cooked to perfection and the taste is delicious. Always return again

Food was great. We was informed of all the right deals, and informed a new menu is coming on Wednesday 6th March, I will be in looking forward to trying the new food items on the new menu. You get great value for your money and never fails to disappoint me. I go in nearly every week with my daughter and she is 9 years old and loves the BBQ chicken and always is asking for the staff because they are that friendly and approach her with great manners. The manager is awesome and always knows how to make people laugh. She always has a smile on her face and nothing ever seems too much hard work for her, she is a legend!

Being gluten free I asked if the chips were suitable, told no but jacket potato ok, so ordered gammon, I had to sign a waver and I felt like a social outcast, this wasn’t done discretely and everyone was looking at me. The server brought the food and said she couldn’t bring our food out together and my husband had to wait, again this wasn’t done discretely. I had to ask for butter but told it wasn’t gluten free… again she wasn’t very quiet about this. I ordered a glass of wine which tasted horrible, but wasn’t offered a different one. All in all it was the most embarrassing experience I have ever had and I will never eat there again. I was half expecting to be told I had to sit on a separate table from my husband. If your coeliac give this place a miss, way to embarrassing.

Went for lunch as it's near where I live. Went with my son and my dog,ordered gammon and it was the best I,ve ever had so thumbs up to Callum who cooked it. Highly recommend

Staff fine, food not as described, Cajun sizzler was tasteless and only just about cooked, we both had the same meal and my wife left half her chicken as she said it wasn't fresh or tasted as it was supposed to, starters are so small it was like a nibble not a starter, very poor, will not be returning !!!!

Good service, I've dined here many times and have enjoyed everything, but... This visit wasn't good, 1st time having a mixed grill, the steak was like eating shoe leather, and the pork was so dry, both very over cooked, tiny flavourless grey button mushrooms, when I say small I mean they were smaller than my finger tips, from a tin? . I should have sent it back, and along with my friends, they were all as bad. I don't like leaving a bad review as this is a lovely place. But I would never get a mixed grill again from the menu again. I'm not 1 for taking photos of a meal out, but I wish I had on this occasion.

There was no atmosphere at all, staff not friendly, uniform very relaxed, no check backs completed to see if food was ok Don't know what's going on but it's nowhere near the pub it used to be, very sad 😢

I was sat down infront of a couple and their child who was watching a phone at full volume which irritated the hell out of me so I moved and after a long wait I recived my toad in the hole which was on the 'special' menu and I received a microwave meal with absolutely no flavour.

Been to the Praire again today and as usual was not disappointed. The food is hot and there is plenty of choice. Charlene in the kitchen knows how to look after the patrons.

My wife and I had a lovely night out we enjoyed our meals and the staff were friendly, have try 😊

Top food for the price and friendly service

Been going to The Prairie for 5 years now and until 05/01/24 we could never complain. Terrible service only 1 person working at the bar, the poor woman didn't stop, people complaining to her about the wait. We ordered food and it took over an hour to arrive and not the best gammon etc. Desserts - Eton Mess Sunday - just cream, ice cream, no wafer or meringue. Extremely disappointed , people were even vaping at the tables !
