Let me start by saying the staff were excellent. Now to the meal at the best average the pie crust took some cutting it was a bit on the hard side, the peas were on the cool side and for the chips they looked ok. . Would I rush back, don't think so

We had to eat inside as it was raining! Which is fine! When ordering I told the girl what we wanted and she said she has run out of t bags and needs to stock up so she will fetch the tea once we have sat down! 15 mins later I had drank my coffee and my wife had to remind them about the tea? Also I got a scone jam and clotted cream which the cream was crumbly ? And not smooth or spreadable, I didn’t say anything as she wasn’t too pleased reminding her about the coffee? I do think £3.30 is a bit-steep for a basic coffee though. Over all it was just ok!

I don't usually write reviews, but after reading the poor ones on here and being slightly put off, I felt I needed to write one. I visited today with a friend after a couple of previous visits to the garden centre and was very impressed. The cafe was bustling with a good atmosphere and had a good selection of cakes on display. The staff were advising that for hot food there was a delay, but it was lunchtime, the cafe was busy and by being advised customers could decide if they waited or not. We had to wait a couple of minutes to be served which was fine and as we discussed allergies in the queue the serving staff picked up on this and asked us if we had any specific issues. Our coffees and cakes were ordered with no issues and there were even different milk alternative available. We opted to sit outside and noticed the few remaining tables both inside and outside were very clean and presentable. The whole place is very spacious too, so we didn't feel people were on top of us. Overall a great place that we will return to.

Visited today for a family birthday lunch. Nice menu including sandwiches, jacket potatoes and some daily specials. We were told when we ordered that there might be a bit of a delay as 'everyone has come at once'. How strange that they hadn't anticipated that people normally have lunch between 12.30 and 1.30pm? Anyway, a 30 minute delay wasn't a problem, but after waiting 45 minutes we were all getting hungry. After enquiring where our food was it did eventually arrive, and was nice enough but really the place could be much better managed. It took 2.5 hours to get lunch and the carparking only allows you 2.5 hours so we were lucky to get out in time.

However, the cooked breakfast was terrible, the hash brown was burnt and sausages were obviously reheated, impossible to get my fork into, so hard. Sent this back, returned 5 mins later with new microwaved sausage, yuk! Rest of the food was the same as sent back- now had cold mushrooms, a warm egg, and just warm beans, hard bacon. The slice of toast was okay. For £10.50 incl of tea it was the worst breakfast I’ve had in awhile., certainly not value for money. Can’t blame the waiting on staff who tried to get things rectified, but can’t recommend. Disappointing as food on previous visits has been okay.

He was in the queue around 20mins, very slow service, only one person serving & making hot drinks. Eventually he got to the front to be told there was then a 40min wait for food. The children had already waited 20mins, this would be an hour they would need to wait if not longer, any drinks would also be cold or drunk before food arrived. We walked out & went elsewhere. Very poor customer service, surely you should tell customers about the wait as they join the queue, not after they have already waited 20mins. Will not be returning.

This is based on our visit on Thursday 23rd Feb 2023. We arrived about 12.30 which was just in time cause a few minutes later and there was a long queue. Ordered soup and sandwich and bacon and Brie chiabatta.. plus tea and coffee . They arrived quite quickly I have to say and whilst the portion of soup was a cup full (with some down the side) it was hot and tasted good . The cheese sandwich I had was ok and the bread was fresh . Can’t comment on the Brie and bacon but it looked ok with salad . I personally think both items were slightly overpriced but I suppose these days that’s to be expected to cover costs etc. The table we sat at had been cleared but I don’t know if it had been wiped .. the surrounding area was littered with food debris .. crumbs etc .. including my seat . The lady taking orders (alone) was very pleasant but she looked like she was working through her break because she was drinking her juice or whatever it was while serving which isn’t very good . Her colleague who was serving the tables and clearing was rather fed up looking and un smiling all the while .. she looked very tired . I used to work in a small cafe (Boots) and we weren’t allowed to eat or drink while in view of customers and always told to be pleasant. And we had to keep the customer areas clean of food debris as much as possible. In my opinion the cafe appeared to be understaffed for a lunchtime.. there only seemed to be two people serving/clearing.. don’t know how many there were in the kitchen . The toilet I use was a male/female toilet which was a bit smelly possibly due to there being a urinal . Someone later told us that there was another toilet which looked like it needed cleaning . Because we paid just shy of £20 for this experience we would think twice about visiting again. We have been to another British Garden Centres cafe in Yorkshire which was much better and cleaner .. so I don’t know if they are operated as a franchise or what.

I have read the last handful of reviews for the Garden Centre Cafe and fully agree with that has been said. And it's disappointing it hasn't changed since they were posted. Visited the Garden Centre to have a spot of lunch before having a browse. Entered the cafe and it was extremely busy. I found a table for two which needed wiping down and my husband decided to queue. There was a long queue and he must have been 15 minutes with one girl serving on. I saw two girls in the meantime come and clear tables which began to empty of people and thought they might give them a wipe. They didn't. They cleared the tables but had no cloth and spray with them. Once my husband arrived back, I saw a spray hanging on a cupboard on the back wall so I picked it up and used it. I used a napkin to wipe it down. I thought perhaps one of the girls might have offered, seeing as she passed me to go for a spray herself. My husband wasn't told of a wait time but assumed it wouldn't be quick. I was right - it was 35 mins and still no food. We had to ask one of the girls if she could check how much long we had to wait for food and if it was on its way. Others around us had gotten there food already who were in front and behind my husband in the queue. She reported back to us that it would be 5 min. The soup and ciabatta we ordered arrived. Soup seemed fine (small ish potion for a soup which was close to £6) and my ham and cheese ciabatta was £7.99 Inc salad (they had no chicken left at the time we ordered). It was tepid (not very warm) but decided to eat it anyway as we had waited long enough. We were sat there for just over an hour (Inc the waiting time for food) and I did not see a table wiped, only empties cleared away. And the floor was dirty with the odd napkin. Overpriced, average food, slow service and cleanliness could be better. We then left to go and find a plant pot. Chose one and returned to the tills by the exit, only to find no barcode. We were expected to go and get another pot which was to the other side of the centre before we could buy it. .. I then was concerned with the 2.5hour parking time which had been highlighted on signs everywhere as I think we close to the maximum time. So I left to go and drive away to come back for my husband in an estimated 5 mins time. Husband had to queue again with a pot - wasnt asked to come to the front again or had someone go and get one for him. Overall, there are nicer, cheaper places to eat in Burnley. Make sure you have lunch before you take a visit. As for the Garden Centre, not the most relaxing visit ever due to us being conscious of getting a fine for overstaying on the car park. Don't think we will make a return visit anytime soon. Would recommend Springwood Garden Centre up the road - support a business there that cares.

Food came just OK after a long wait. Had to reach round cafe counter to pick up tray with drinks. Toilets appalling for such a large garden centre. Male urinal in the same toilet as used by both men and women and smelly. The disabled toilet was surrounded by wet toilet paper and plastic nappy wrappers on the floor. Cafe staff using same toilets and entering in apron. Not good! Today is Monday last entry for cleaning on the rota for the loo was the previous thursday.

Lovely place , but we felt like we had to rush . The girls were cleaning g around & putting chairs on top of tables . Who does that ? Such a shame ! Maybe put the chair seat on the tables not the actual dirty legs ???

Always loved coming to this cafe in the past, but the last few visits have seen long wait times queuing for drinks and to order food as there is always just 1 person doing the drinks and taking orders. Then a long wait for the food to come, the staff are always running around rushed off there feet, they obviously need to hire more staff

This is purely about the cafe today, I've been to the garden centre many times and it is if fine. Got met with a very indifferent member of staff at the counter, wasn't listening to me, and when my order came it had melted cheese all over it which I had specially asked to be left off. I handed the food back and was greeted with a deep sigh from a different staff member, who said they would bring another. My coffee arrived with a dirty saucer, on a dirty tray, and the coffee itself was awful. The food came and was rubbish; like warm, uncooked mushrooms, bland, and for £10 for an omelette and a coffee i felt ripped off.

Met a friend for lunch. The staff were very welcoming. We both had flat breads which were beautifully presented and very tasty, great value for money. Service was excellent. The only off putting thing was that the fitted seating area desperately needs reupholstering, but I understand that it has only recently been taken over and it takes time to get things how you want them to be.
