Poorly run and I have heard from many people that treatment of staff is beyond disgraceful. Managers talk to members like dirt and I wouldn't give my money to this restaurant for anything. Something seriously needs to be done.

Just been to The Brun Lea the food and waiting time is absolutely terrible. Had the Homemade meat and potato pie which we waited 45mins, I had to ask how long our meals would be and when we finally received our meals it was cold the pie wasn't a pie a bit of filling that barely covered the bottom of the dish which was dry as anything with puff pastry on top with no gravy, the waiter come to check how the meals were told and showed him he said sorry. I would have felt embarrassed to serve that to anybody. Really disappointed won't be going back anytime soon.

We booked a table for seven, to include our family from Fleetwood. The menu post-Weatherspoons appeared to me (at first sight) to be a bit limited but ALL of the main courses ordered were excellent. The only negative (and it was a big one!) was that, by 6.30pm, the pudding menu had been depleted to just sticky toffee pudding, with either custard or ice cream. This was a bit annoying at first but the manager was apologetic and we all enjoyed the pud. I can't understand other people's comments about "unfriendly staff" because ALL the staff were friendly and helpful, even though the place was almost packed out. I guess that, if you're rude to others, you get back what you deserve? We really enjoyed the food and service, well done to everyone!!

Dont venture to Burnley much but Hubby works there and I had gone shopping. Met hubby for lunch and he suggested here. Upon entering he noticed that it looked different and had a slight refurb. We found a table, looked at the menu and downloaded the Wetherspoon app. It was only then we noticed that it was no longer a Wetherspoon pub. I went to the bar to order and there were 2 people serving. 6 customers at the bar. When I got to the front, the bar was dirty and sticky with spilled drinks. Was told food would be 20 mins as they were busy. Was more like 40 mins as there was only one girl in the kitchen and she was cooking, waiting on AND cleaning tables. 2 staff behind bar didn't offer to help out.Cheese and onion pie flat as a pancake and burnt. Peas cold. Chips overcooked.Wont be returning

I had arranged a visit, with friends, to Burnley Town Hall which was very interesting and 12 of us dined at the Brun Lea. We had a variety of different meals which were enjoyed, but my husband and myself had our usual Chicken Club Day favourite of Spicy Chicken Wings served with Chips, coleslaw and a choice of sauce. Reasonably priced at £7.05. I noticed a sign which said it was for sale so it isn't likely to stay a Wetherspoons for much longer. It was quite busy but service was OK.

Have visited this branch on several occasions and just wanted to say their bar service is a complete waste of space . The staff are clueless as to who’s waiting and who’s just arrived . I’m 6’2” and hardly invisible but was openly ignored in favour of younger clientele or mates of the bar staff . They are usually surly or rude depending on which one serves you . It’s the very worst bar in town to get served in despite the number of barstaff and it’s not just a one off thing either . The tables are filthy and you rarely see anyone cleaning them . The place is going downhill fast absolute rubbish . Would give it a minus figure if I could .

Best of the two weatherspoons in burnley Does not have the old world land quaint look of the boot inn, but here the staff, food and service are consistently good, unlike the aforementioned. Unfortunately, though it is now being invaded by ex boot inn staff who adopt the usual snowflake attitude rife in that venue. Right now I five it five stars but if this influx of snowflakes continues next time maybe 1.

Night out with my Son to hopefully enjoy the good value Curry night that I have enjoyed at many Weatherspoons including this one. Last night was awful, bad mannered Barman with no charisma whatsoever, the beer was cloudy and never cleared. Food was served quickly but of very poor quality. Lamb Rogan Josh was over cooked, popadum greasy and overall it was not enjoyable. The pub was really cold and a few Customers were complaining. Tables were not being cleaned and the overall attitude of the staff was well below standard of what I have experienced at this establishment and other Weatherspoons over the years. To cap it all political statements by Tim Martin on the wine/beer and drinks list is not what I would have expected or not what I want when going for a night out in any licensed establishment and I question whether this is legal. I appreciate his stance but please keep it to the right channels of communication! Won’t be rushing back.

Called in here the other day as a last resort as we were tired and hungry. We are both vegetarians and most other places did not have any suitable choices. We were pleasantly surprised at the variety of options for vegetarians and vegans. I chose broccoli and Stilton soup which came with freshly grated Stilton on it and a thick slice of bloomer with plenty of butter. My OH chose a quinoa salad with .rice, avocado, adzuki beans, grilled red and yellow pepper, red cabbage, chia seeds and kale, with the addition of grilled halloumi. The soup was homemade, thick and very tasty and my OH said that his meal was amazing. We each had large soft drinks with our meals and Coffee and Tea and the total was around £13. Absolutely fantastic. The tables were spotless, service was quick (as it always is) and the atmosphere busy yet calm. The staff here are all young and incredibly efficient and friendly. They obviously care about their customer's experiences and never look harassed. We have never had a bad experience here and thoroughly recommend it.

I am a reader / watch in the background person.I don't have time to write reviews - but do appreciate those written by others.Having read another on here I realised it was the same memorable night we dinned here.We were in the middle of a huge electrical storm torrential downpours. But it was Tuesday night a great favourite of ours "Steak Night" So we braved the storms. We were greeted warmly by the staff. Made our orders and sat down with drinks to wait for our food. Within a few minutes of being seated there was a total power cut of the whole town, even the traffic lights were out. Emergency lighting kicked in immediately, not a problem. The manager that night was Jason, he came to check we were OK and to recheck our food order as the electronic tills had lost some data. I remember my husband saying "Hope they are cooking on gas", we happily waited, our food wasn't delayed very long. We enjoyed lovely steaks with great service. The staff on that evening worked very hard to keep a very busy pub / restaurant going in difficult circumstances. Jason and Beth were a credit to Wetherspoons.I was upset to read the bad review of that same night - which has prompted me to write my 1st ever review.Tonight is Chicken Night - so we will be enjoying another nice meal served by great staff. Two other staff members who spring to mind for great service are Coady and Mitch. A very happy working bunch in The Brun Lea Burnley.

Visited Tuesday evening with friends, the general state of the environment was poor, having selected a table we cleared it of glasses and debris and asked at the bar for a cloth and wiped the table ourselves. We ordered and were served by a pleasant helpful young lady. The food arrived in good order there was no issue with the food, one of the three steaks ordered being over done, (better than under). However some forty minutes after arriving there had been no attempt to clear any of the tables that had been soiled when we arrived. It was just as I was photographing the scene that the duty manager arrived. He got confrontational very quickly and subsequently didn't like the fact that it had been observed that he had been swanning about doing very little when he could have been attending to clearing the guest area. He stomped off and seemed to be having his own private little tantrum as he cleared the customer area, banging glassware about, slamming bottles into the bottle bin and casting the occasional killer glare in our direction.

Came for a meal on Sunday, ordered 2 steaks which I ordered mine to be rare, it arrived and was dry as a bone but a funny orange colour like it had been re-heated or something. I tried to flag down the manager (named and shamed as Chris) who was too busy entertaining what must of been his friends in front of the bar, as we finally got his attention, his response to my complaint was *shrug* do you want me to change it? I said yes and off he went with my plate only to return within less than 5 min with the same plate he went with, I knew this as he left my dirty cutlery on the plate for its return. We also ordered a starter of nachos with chilli (see picture it's pretty self explanatory ie Microwaved mush). A lovely young waitress named Amy came to check on me and friend to see if everything was okay and when I explained what had happened she then offered me a complimentary dessert (which the one I ordered they didn't have any left so they had to come back and apologise again) and had to apologise for her managers behaviour, no staff member should have to apologise on behalf of there senior, they should be leading by example. I wasn't even offered a refund for this experience and overall it was a terrible experience and I am very reluctant to visit this establishment again.

Five minutes after ordering the young lady came to us to advise that they had run out of turf ( steak) ! Odd really it was steak night and only around 6pm! She advised we could have gammon instead which we agreed to. My cheeky chap said so long as we get free free onion rings! When the food came they had duly obliged ! The gammon was hot and well cooked everything was lovely . Despite the hiccup with the steak everything was good . No complaints. Big shout out as mentioned at the beginning to Mitch wetherspoons need to recognise those that give good customer service . Wish he could serve us in every bar.

We have been to Wetherspoons ( Brun Lea ) on numerous occasions for Sunday morning breakfast. Cannot fault the staff or food. The traditional breakfast is great value for money at £2.99 always piping hot as is the filter coffee with free refills for 99p. Excellent What more could you ask for. We have also called in on the specials night and again cannot fault it

Mixed up orders, complained about the leathery chicken but didn't want to know, the person enquiring actually just walked off. Got to love good customer service. Unfortunately not here tonight x

Visited as a family of 7 for late lunch.Let's start with the good. One person had steak, which was cooked exactly as requested and the knife went through it like butter. Another had the mixed grill, which was described as fine and good value, as was the ham and chips. 2 of us had the Sunday roast - not sure how they can describe this as hand carved - perhaps it was once, but comes to us as 'plastic' meat. However, that is what you would expect at a Wetherspoons. Otherwise they were OK, although my turkey was initially missing the cranberry sauce - this was brought in a little pot - it was very nice, but tasted nothing like cranberry, so not sure what it was.2 kids' meals - 1 was fine - chicken nuggets and chips. And then we come to the bad - kid's spaghetti Bolognese. It arrived lukewarm. and dried up. You simply cannot microwave spaghetti. It was sent back with a (unlikely at Wetherspoons) request for parmesan cheese. The 2 waitresses looked at each other as if they had never heard of it. We then said that just any grated cheese would do. It came back hot, but even more dried and shrivelled, with what looked like scrapings of cheese taken off with a knife. I would have sent it back again, but the child was so hungry by this time that he just wanted to eat it, but didn't enjoy.Décor was pleasant, service was quite quick and friendly, apart from the lack of knowledge about cheese!

I live locally and decided to eat albeit fairly late in the day. My Chicken Wrap was cold, chips felt as though they'd been done an hour earlier and my side onion rings were terrible. They were only luke warm and reheated. I'd definately not recommend eating here.

Unlike the review I have just read I found the staff to be fine, if a little stretched. There is nothing really wrong with this pub but on the night I called the choice of beer from 8 pumps was just 2, and I liked neither! Needs a good standard session beer like London Pride or Doombar on all the time, along with local brews, they had Ruddles Bitter but does anyone drink that anymore???We also ate, no complaints there.....

Absolute disgrace. A barman who knew we had been waiting much longer tgan others completely ignored us. When we approached him my partner and I were threatened to be thrown out. Little does the barman know that we have friends if the bar and know he is called nathan. Staff training needed!

Completely opposite to it's sister Wetherspoons (The Boot Inn, Burnley). Staff are hard working & friendly. Food is fine as always. The staff make you feel valued and as a customer that is as important as the quality of the food.

To be fair, this is about par for the course at any Wetherspoons - one member of staff serving and five or more customers waiting. Staff member has no idea who is next. Only evidence of 'management' is someone with a different colour shirt and tie, clearing plates off tables, as opposed to managing the problem at the bar.I don't want to be too specific about the staff attitude problems because we do go in there regularly and don't want to cause bad feeling.Wetherspoons are great at value for money and have superb beers, but shocking at staff training, but it doesn't have to be like this! See our reviews for the nearby Wetherspoon pub, The Boot, in Burnley.

Good cheap food - if you expect more when pay less than £5 for a curry and a pint then this place is not for you. But it does do reasonable Pub Grub at reasonable prices, and saves getting the frying pan out - we use it when we visit town for shopping / a night out or on Thursday night for "The Curry Club" - can't beat it.

Visited this Wetherspoon in early December and decided to have the 'Fish Friday' Cod & Chips. The meal arrived and I ate some of the fish but found it hard going(tough to cut and eat).Eventually I peeled the batter back and found a large lump of something hard just under the batter.Nobody came to see if the meal was O.K.-so just left the hard lump which was not supposed to be in the fish on the side of the plate.Showed the manageress who was not very helpful-but asked if I wanted it sending away for analysis.I replied yes I did.I was violently sick the same evening after eating some of this hard matter.Wetherspoons passed the matter to a firm called SAI Global of Milton Keynes. They sent a photo of the foreign matter to the supplier whose reply to me -'the chewiness that your customer has found,is part of the muscle line of the fish.Pacific Cod migrate vast distances, and during this migration period the muscle along the spine becomes tough, when the fish reaches it's spawning ground, after a while this muscle softens' - what a fob off!6 weeks waiting to be told this!I have talked to people who know about Cod and their thoughts are that it was cartilidge.I will never return to this establishment-having said that the Cod may come from the supplier ready battered in which case-not their fault.Nobody at Wetherspoons or SAI Global will tell me.

As a small party of seven we pre booked two tables. Five of our party had the Christmas lunch and two had a meal from the regular menu. The food was presented nicely and was very hot.It was a good size and most enjoyable. The service we received from the staff was excellent and we were made to feel very welcome, definately will return. Thankyou Weatherspoons.

We did say we wouldn’t return but glad we did… fairly busy 3 staff on who was very good for their age, very attentive and friendly. Wife had pizza which she loved and I had cheese pie and chips which also was very tasty. Couple of glasses of wine and bobs your uncle! We had a great hour and half well done to all, I will be back…
