Great atmosphere lovely food and reasonable on price all in all a lovely place

Our first time visiting the restaurant after many visits to the spa. It was disappointing and we will be sticking to the tapas at the spa. The food on the whole was good, when it arrived. They are very allergy conscious which is a huge bonus. The service lets this restaurant down massively. Slow for orders and you shouldn’t have to ask 3 times for water for the table when they originally asked us…. Nothing seemed to get done unless it was for the managers. Some of our food was delivered to a wrong table which meant that members of the party were sat waiting for food to be recooked. The managers were apologetic but there were just too many things that weren’t up to an acceptable standard. Such a shame

A return visit after refurbishment and redesign. A variety of seating areas for two diners or larger parties-a very well thought out design The new menu was very impressive with a variety of choices of starters mains and sweets. A great feature is you can chose your own vegetables to go with your main course. Many return visits needed before you exhaust the menu options. Excellent service

Love Bertram’s. The food is excellent, the staff are perfectly attentive and serve you as though they like their jobs and dealing with customers, the house Sauvignon is delicious (Chilean). I go regularly with friends 1:1 and group bookings and it is consistently good.

Came here with friends for a meal after the refurbishment had taken place. Loved the new decor and layout. Food was delicious and our waiter was lovely and was good about advising on our wine. Will be coming again for our next friend birthday meal

Amazing food & stunning new venue, a fabulous night all round! I had the chicken gyozas to start, then the slow cooked lamb shank with buttered mash & seasonal vegetables for my main - both were absolutely delicious. Highly recommend 👌🏻

I came to Bertram’s for the first time since it has reopened due to renovations. The place is beautiful. It looks really nice and prestigious. The booking requested that we attended 15 minutes prior to the booked time, as the booked time is when we would be eating. We did that, but it took 50 minutes for our starter to arrive. However, the main did arrive within a reasonable timeframe. We had to ask for tap water twice, eventually it came. It is the first day it has been open and I can understand that staff will be under pressure, so it would be unfair to review the experience purely on wait times, but it cannot be totally dismissed. The food was delicious, I cannot fault the food. I would be happy to return and I do recommend this restaurant. Yes, it is a bit more expensive than other places but you get what you pay for.

Waiting outside for ages before allowed in! Yet many tables standing empty! Whats this about?!! I was told 15 mins- we waited40! Waitress brought starter and main together.asked her to keep mains warm but she didnt- it turned up cold. Clearly couldnt care less!! Wont be back!

My husband rang the restaurant beforehand and asked if he could wear smart shorts, he was told no.. when we arrived my husband noticed a guy in casual shorts, to which the manager apologised. We asked to be sat somewhere cool as it was very hot and sunny, we were told there isn’t anywhere cooler. Once seated the manager asked if we were ok? Explained it was too hot and could we be moved, to which the manager moved us to a cooler part of the restaurant. The food was very good, my husband had the steak and said it’s the best he’d had in some time! I had the pea and shallot ravioli which was lovely, if I had to be picky, it could of done with a sauce.The restaurant overlooks the outside pool, which belongs to the spa, the restaurant is very modern and spacious. The staff were friendly and polite. Overall we enjoyed our meal, there is a limit on the table of two hours which is good especially if you don’t want to be rushed eating.

The best! Such a wonderful birthday meal, the best service from Dino and team as always! Will miss the next couple of months for the refurb but cannot wait to see the finished product! We will be booking in asap! Thank you as always🥰

We came for the 2 courses meal Thursday deal served with half a bottle of wine really good meal we both thoroughly enjoyed it the service was excellent and the staff were so warm and friendly thank you for a really enjoyable evening and the end touch of our meal was a lovely touch wishing us a happy anniversary we can't wait to come back after the refurbishment we hope to see you soon

My wife and I have been before - it was an excellent service then with Dino. Went again 5th May 24 - appalling service. Completely ignored with slow service despite staff around mainly talking on the side of the restaurant. Did not order dessert and cocktails (I had already asked one of the waiters to come over later for more cocktails). I said to the head waiter that the service was appalling and he just smiled and looked at me. Kind of summed up the evening for us.

We love it here! Great food and great service! It literally never disappoints! The duck pancakes are always great, and the fillet steak is 10/10

Food was average at best and 7.20 for a shandy! Not much choice on the menu if you go as a large group as you can only order off the party menu, the al a carte is only for small groups. If I'm paying these prices then I should be able to order what I like on any menu,especially if you order and pay a week in advance!

Food was probably more pub standard than fine dining. The stroganoff sauce was quite weak, and the rice was slightly undercooked. Service wasn't too bad but we wasn't offered another drink until we caught their attention to ask. Overall, it was alright but not in a rush to go back.

The reception was very slow .not many in but a few from the spa .took ages to be seated as a couple didn't know were or how to book in . The young girl did look after us was great .food top notch .plenty of staff doing nothings at times .needs improvement . If your charging top priced food the reception need improvement

What is there to say it has to be experienced to appreciate the quality

Absolutely amazing experience in this restaurant. Called to make a reservation and was immediately asked about any dietary requirements which were catered to from start to finish. Atmosphere was calm and inviting even considering it was a Friday night. Couldn't fault the service and the food was to die for. Highly recommend.

I visited Bertram's as I was attending The Woodland Spa. The food was lovely. My cocktail was tasty. One thing I would suggest required improvement, was the time it took to receive your orders. We asked to find out what was happening with our mains, and also drinks. Overall it was a lovely visit, and I would definitely return.

After a visit to the spa we chose to eat here instead of the restaurant in the hotel. We were not disappointed. What a lovely comfortable setting overlooking the spa. Friendly efficient staff. The food was amazing various choices depending on your spa package and you could choose to pay a supplement if the food wasn’t included in that package. Beautiful starters - our group opted for the gyoza the bang bang prawns and the duck pancakes - all of which were delicious. We then went for the duck and the lamb shank mains - stunning food. Wine was recommended with the mains and it didn’t disappoint. Our deserts finished us off !!! Beautifully presented and tasty cocktails. Perfect evening for my birthday with lovely friends - thank you 😊

Me and my partner came here for our birthdays. The food was amazing, so flavourful and I can’t believe how much duck I got for a starter! Not only was the food amazing but the staff were all super friendly and welcoming. Would definitely come here again

Food and service excellent. If I had to complain about anything it would be that the restaurant itself was a little bit chilly!

Had a lovely 3 course meal. Great setting overlooking the spa in adults only restaurant. Started off with scallops and prawns in champagne sauce. Canon of lamb for main course and finished with a flambé baked Alaska. The waiter was very friendly Delandre as was the manger Dino. Definitely on the bucket list to revisit with a stay in the hotel Crow Wood and a visit to the fabulous spa.

The experience of eating here does not reflect the cost. Firstly, the entire restaurant is full of people in swimming costumes with flip flops and dressing gowns because they've come from the spa which, if I'd known this was a thing, I wouldn't have visited. Secondly, the staff are incredibly inattentive, 2 separate people offered to get us water for the table and didn't. In the end we had to go up to the counter to ask for some for a third time before we actually got it. The prices on the menu don't include VAT so you pay over £10 for a mocktail and the food was very average. The bill came to £97 in total for 3 people for starters, main and drinks. Definitely not worth it and I won't be coming again.

Visited this restaurant and had some concerns about the hygiene standards I saw. Unfortunately, our waitress seemed quite unwell, displaying symptoms like a runny nose and a persistent cough. I completely understand that people can get sick, but it's essential for the restaurant to prioritise the health and safety of both their staff and customers. Serving food while visibly ill can potentially expose diners to health risks (especially with at risk family members). This experience left me genuinely concerned about the overall cleanliness in the restaurant. If that's front of house, what's the kitchen like? I hope the management takes this feedback seriously. Quite disgusting considering the price you pay just to get seated. Expected better than chippy standards.

Food was excellent as always! Service was very hit and miss though, 3 different members of staff came over to ask if we’d ordered which we had, nobody seemed to know what was going on really, other then that most of the staff was friendly and it was a good atmosphere!

Went here on Saturday night with two friends it was their birthdays so a special meal ! On sitting down one of the chairs was very sticky had to be swapped , our light wasn’t working it was dark also very cold as the air conditioning was blowing right on us ! Eventually got a light that worked ! The food was good that was the best part . We paid our bill and went to the lift and in front of other people a man came up to us telling us we had not paid our bill embarrassing to say the least have never had this happen before ! We told him he better check because we had paid ! A disappointing night felt let down it was supposed to be a special night out .

Visited for lunch. The food was excellent and the staff really pleasant. However, service was slow and clearly there weren’t enough serving staff working at what appeared to be a really busy time so there were lengthy delays clearing plates and bringing drinks. More staff would have resulted in 5 stars.

We visited on Sunday and chose from the specials menu. Two delightful and flavoursome starters-cauliflower pakora and kitsu prawns.Mains were the salmon and trio of game-we shared a chocolate dessert. A perfecctly balanced meal due in part to our choices from the menu but mainly the creativity of the chef. Excellent service from Dean and Gerson

We went last night 02/09 - arrived 10 minutes earlier than booked and was seated straight away. Immediately the waiters greeting us and explaining the menus and recommending dishes and wine. The food as always was brilliant and the views from our table made it even better. 10/10 for me.

Great food and a great choice of menu, main menu and AA rosette menu plus a specials menu, spoilt for choice , just love all the choice you can have, wish others places would do the same, everything we have had as been lovely, cannot fault it, had duck with pancakes and salmon of the specials, my Husband had asparagus with parmesan crisp and duck egg, he had fillet steak for main with pepper sauce and seasoned fries, all the food was excellent, carn't wait to go back

The wife and I really liked this place although it is a strange mix of informal, casual v smart and expensive. Access is via a very slow lift up to the first floor. The view from the windows overlook the outdoor spa which is a bit distracting. Also it's the only access and exit for those using the spa, they have to walk through the middle of the dining room but it's not an issue for most tables. This means the lift can be very be busy. These issues aside, the food and service was excellent, perhaps a bit slow when busy, but definitely worth waiting for. Quite expensive but they do have some reasonable midweek offers.

Got to be one of the best restaurants in the area. Food is always well presented and cooked to perfection along with fantastic service, in a great setting.

Wonderful food with great staff … I would recommend a visit, made our celebration special by bringing out a cake with a sparkler.

Amazing service, brilliant food. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Staff were friendly, polite and attentive. Food was absolutely spot on, the black garlic chicken was amazing. Sadly, in a totally isolated incident one drunken neanderthal was creating a scene in the restaurant, though the management handled it incredibly well and he was clearly encouraged to leave once eaten. Will absolutely be visiting again. Would recommend.

The food was ok for the price but better burgers can be had from a food truck. The lighting was terrible as halfway through dinner the blinds rolled up, while fancy, it made it impossible to see anyone with their back towards the window at my table. The service was great but let down overall by the mediocre food and poor lighting.

Lovely spot for an afternoon tea overlooking the spa. The selection of savoury was perfect with a soup and shepherds pie alongside the sandwiches and cakes. Staff are so friendly and professional.

I love Mr Brown's project at Crow Wood and have had lovely meals across at Wilfred's but the decent food we had at Bertrams recently was spoilt by the lousy service. The restaurant was 1/4 full and there seemed to be plenty of staff around but they all took forever to do anything. We stood for 3-4 minutes by the entrance wondering if someone might bother to seat us (no apology when eventually attended to) ; a few minutes after getting sat down by the bored maitre d we got some menus (no apology) , 10 minutes later a 3rd staff member took our drinks order; 10 minutes later a 4th person brought some drinks over ... is anyone getting the picture ...? Similar story with the mains, the dessert, the coffee, the bill ... there must have been one member of staff for every 3-4 diners (ie not rushed off their feet) but it was all a bit too much like hard work. Come on Mr Brown, the food and the venue are fine but someone needs the proverbial rocket up the derriere ... not rushing back ...

Been Visiting Bertrams For Years & Never had a bad meal experience , Dino & His Team Do A Fantastic Job & A Special Mention To Dean The Head Barman for who nothing was too much trouble , keep up the good work guys!

Maybe I should have been aware that this restaurant was attached to a spa. Came to celebrate a friends belated birthday and I was so surprised to find that 90% of the guests were dressed in white robes, even some just in bathing costumes and even bikinis! For the ridiculously high price we paid for the food, which was fairly average, my friends pasta was very dry, I would not like to repeat the experience. Eating my food while having a view of people sat in jacussis and walking round in swimwear was not enjoyable. The restaurant was hot, yes it was a warm day but it would have been nice to have fresh air. I found the place trying to be just too posh, the food was average, our drinks took an age to arrive and then a no cash payment policy just topped it off. Much nicer ‘gastro’ pubs in the area for a lovely lunch.

If you want to know what a food is supposed to taste like, try it here. --- Update July 2023 Regularly enjoy the seasonal rosette menu and tried nearly everything the restaurant has to offer. It is still the reference for the best that food can be. However they did recently change the baked alaska which has been their staple dessert for the last decade. It was soft lemon zest ice-cream that was to die for and the flagship item of the menu offerings. It has been replaced with an icy acrid chocolate sponge with a burning liquor which pales in comparison.

241 deal on burgers on a Tuesday. It's a nice burger but if you order cheese it's like £3 for a slice of cheddar. very expensive on sof drinks £18 for 4 pints of coke. , just let that sink in .......... and by the time you finish it dont feel like a deal.

Awesome experience. The Services provided are excellent. Thanks to GP for the extraordinary wine and main course .I would definitely visit the venue in upcoming future and would highly recommend for others to give it a try for parties as well as get togethers.

My friend and I returned after a wonderful visit to Bertrams and stay over at The Crow wood hotel late January. This visit again did not disappoint. The staff, service, food and atmosphere are excellent and we cannot wait to come again soon.

Booked a meal with 3 friends and paid the £10 deposit each. Unfortunately one of our party became ill on the day and lost her £10 deposit as it was within the 24 hour ruling. We explained this to the manager but we're told this is policy. I have visited many restaurants over the years and eat out quite often and have never been asked for a deposit for a table of '4'. In today's climate I feel the loss of £10 for something out of my friends control put a damper on our experience and for that reason we will not visit again.

One of best places to eat out in Burnley area

This was a last minute booking for my husband's birthday. From the reception to the service and food the whole experience was excellent. The young staff are friendly and very helpful. We are considering booking Christmas dinner here for a party of eight.

We recently enjoyed a meal at bertrams. I wasn't expecting anything amazing after a few friends had said it wasn't that good. There was nothing wrong with any of our food or drinks and to be fair the prices were in line with other restaurants. The staff were attentive and professional. I didn't like the access to the restaurant via the lift and the walk through the spa area. The lighting was a little dark. I have no hesitation in recommendation it just isn't for me.
