Not happy with the food the liver was under done and my partners pork was under done aswell puddings were not very warm staff were friendly it was ashame this place had good reviews won't be go again

This place is great, I have been before but a few years ago! Me and the wife had a great meal my steak was excellent and cooked just as I asked. Medium rare. Staff are brilliant nothing is too much trouble. Really good atmosphere I will come back and definitely recommend.

We were surprised. Good meals, fast service, very clean and comfortable.

Quality food, limited choice on the menu which has not changed in a lot of years,there was no special board menu either which was disappointing.

Thoroughly enjoyed Sunday lunch here, a last minute choice as we were staying in the area on a weekend break. We both had roast turkey with stuffing, Yorkshire pudding and fresh vegetables for the main course: my wife had the lemon posset with shortbread for dessert, while I had fruit crumble. All beautifully cooked and presented, with efficient and friendly service to complete a very pleasant experience. Recommended.

It was a birthday celebration and we opted for the special menu available. Cannot fault it, the food was absolutely excellent and plenty of it for both starters and mains. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for good food and good service. Well done.

For starters, we got black pudding with mustard, which was basically mustard with black pudding as they were drenched in mustard. We also had the leak and potato soup, which should have just been named potato; as the leak was none existent. Moving onto the main, we had homemade spicy meatballs and pasta. The pasta was bland, and the meatballs were balls of mush. They were not spicy at all, contrary to the name. However, the service was great, and food arrived in a timely manner to our arrival.

Excellent, friendly service and good wholesome, well-prepared food. The basics done well, plus that bit more. Very good value for money.

What a lovely little diamond of a restaurant. Brilliantly, competent, friendly and down to earth service. Surprisingly good quality food, where the basics like food and plates being hot were not forgotten, and where the simplicity of wholesome good value meals leaves you feeling like you have had an excellent meal without being ripped off.

Fantastic food - Excellent portions & tonnes of flavour

Visited here with family after a bereavement and have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We were warmley welcomed and ordered drinks while we browsed the day's menu for a well-priced three-course meal. With one fussy eater, we did have to call ahead for a special meal and that was arranged without any problems. I selected the pate from a good array fo starters and it was fantastice, with a generous portion that may have filed me a little too much ahead of the main. Roast beef and yorkshire pudding, with the usual array of suitable vegetable, all well prepared and very tasty. Sticky toffe pudding finished off the meal nicely. Everybosy else seemed satisifed with their meals and it was all very filling, so certainly well worth the price. This is a beautiful little place to eat with a termendous character all of its own, highly recommended.

18 of us visited here to celebrate a diamond wedding anniversary! The food was excellent! Everything was well cooked and tasty! A lot of us ordered steak cooked to different orders and the chefs did brilliantly as every one was cooked as requested. The service was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble! A big thank you to all for a fabulous night with great food and drink. I’d have no hesitation returning or recommending!

Went for a meal on Friday night. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Food and service was excellent. Would highly recommend.

We booked for the Sunday 3 course meal today for 8 of us. We pre-ordered our meals with the menu being sent to us week before. The food, service and atmosphere was great and we enjoyed the late afternoon. Definitely will be returning and would recommend (the 1980s music it for us ha!)

We booked for Christmas Day meal for 7 family members. The staff were welcoming, friendly, polite and helpful. We were taken to our table on time. The food was delicious and exactly what we had pre-ordered. The atmosphere was festive and the waiting-on staff were unobtrusive but attentive. We all agreed it was an excellent meal and festive atmosphere. Parking spaces were available opposite the restaurant. The price for Christmas Day menu was very competitive. The restaurant was larger than it looked from the outside, with plenty of room inside. Cosy bar area on entering.

A really lovely traditional English restaurant. A rare thing these days! Real food done right. I had Steak, duck breast for my wife, cooked to perfection with delicious fresh vegetables. Highly recommended.

Nice meal 3 courses for 20 quid ish, came in a large party of around 30 people and the food came nice and hot and the standards were not compromised like they are in many other restaurants when in such a large group, definitely recommend

What a fantastic find. Super welcoming and friendly staff, who knew their job and were on the ball with service throughout our meal. We really can't remember when we last had this level of treatment anywhere. There is a wide selection of food on the a la carte menu, and a comprehensive drinks list featuring a wide choice of beers, gins, spirits and cocktails. We opted for the night's special 'chippy tea' - excellent and very, very reasonable. We saw the Tapas Night (Cellar style) advertised on the way out so after tonight's experience, immediately booked our table.

Went for my daughters 18th who has gluten free diet. Couldn't fault it, venue lovely, food fab and service couldn't be faulted. Excellent value for money

Called quite late on, on Sunday, to book a table and they managed to squeeze us in. Delighted that they did. Food was absolutely spot on, had the Sunday roasts (and for £20.95 for 3 courses, worth every penny). Main thing for us was how attentive and accommodating of our little girl all of the staff were. They were helpful, engaging and couldn't do enough for her. Will definitely recommend and will definitely be back again soon.

Zero atmosphere, staff seemed incapable of smiling

Had a really great night here. The food was wonderful and the staff were amazing.

Part of a group on Saturday evening, all food was presented at the table on time and together. Nobody was sat waiting for 1 dish to come out of the kitchen like in so many restaurants when part of a group.

Brilliant. 3 course sunday lunch . Plenty choice good quality Maybe a bit light on veg potions for a larger appetite , but suppose have to save room for the special yummy desserts.. Great value .

Loved it the food is excellent & all the staff are very friendly and attentive,a good choice of dishes on the menu,something to suit everyone,will definitely visit again.

Personally I did not enjoy the food. The fishcakes was burnt and had no flavour, the mushroom stroganoff came with cut up soggy mushrooms when for 14 pound you would expect fresh button mushrooms again overcooked and no taste..no flavour. Way overpriced for the quality, the beer is cold though enjoyed my pint.

The best canteen Christmas Dinner I have had since the early 1980’s. We were served by true Lancashire staff, polite, efficient and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble.

It's a lovely place ,I worked at the celler over 30 years ago loved the place then love now .The food Wednesday night for 5 of us could not be faulted it was fine dinning .not gonna leave it as long again.

Celebrated our Silver Wedding in the function room upstairs- what a great time we had, Becky was amazing and Sophie the bar girl did us proud. The hot food buffet was out of this world and nothing was too much trouble for food servers. My guests all said they will definitely be going again for food. A massive thankyou to you all. 😍

Had Sunday lunch. Food was plentiful and really good and the price was right. You would have to go a long way to better this place. The owners should be proud of what service they give to the public. All the staff should as they where all very friendly and helpful.

Has definitely gone down hill in food quality since before covid. Food quality does not match the prices. It's a shame really. As it's a great local place to dine. And the staff are great.

Five star all round from me for the The Cellar Restaurant. We had three courses for £17.95 which I thought was excellent value for money as the food was very very good. We have not been here since the end of the first lock down. We won't be leaving it so long before we go again. I would highly recomend giving it a try.

Went for a Mother's Day meal with my daughter, food was absolutely fantastic! Good hearty portion and was so tasty. The chef's definitely know what they're doing. Good Atmosphere and Amazing service from friendly and very helpful, smiley staff. Would absolutely recommend to anyone.

Booked in here 32 years ago but had to cancel. Finally went, for the first time, and it was our loss for not going much sooner! The food was fantastic, the staff very friendly, and the prices very reasonable. Only complaint on my behalf is that they don't seem to have a bitter on hand pump. Will definitely be going again, and won't be leaving it such a long time in future!

We visited for the first time today for Sunday lunch. Good menu with a lot f choice. Good value at £16.95 for three courses. All three courses we had were very good with mainly good portions offered. Service was friendly and prompt. We will definitely return. My one criticism is that there are not enough roast potatoes. The few tiny ones on the plate were delicious but not enough for a main meal.

Another excellent meal at the cellar highly recommend

Visited for a large family meal and the food was a good canteen standard for a very reasonably priced Sunday lunch menu. The waitress service was very good, lots of clean, honest, Lancashire girls doing their best. They tried to clear the table properly but our party messed it up for them by piling the empty plates high and heavy. Unused cutlery was left on the table right to the end, which annoys me. But if I had been paying the bill, I would have given them a good tip for trying so hard. If we make it back here we will go for the Al a Carte Menu and really give the kitchen a chance to shine too.

Went last night for meal with five friends. As always the food was excellent as was the service in spite of the restaurant being really busy. The food is always so tasty, a real gem.

Went with a family group of 16/18 to celebrate our ruby wedding anniversary. Superb from start to finish, great choice of menu Which we were all able to submit in advance our choices. Vicky and her superb team were on the ball from start to finish all the food was served hot and fresh with not one of our party left waiting to be served. We decorated the room with balloons and the team also assisted with our cake servings for the family. The venue is in a superb location with eady access from burnley, blackburn, accrington and the ribble valley. We came last night as a party of 12 for my brothers 30th birthday. It was a surprise for him, it was very well organised and he didn’t have a clue until he was shown to the table. The table was upstairs and it was incredibly hot up there, waitresses opened some windows for us after we’d been there about an hour, the ambience was lovely, I loved how quirky the restaurant looks. The food was excellent, they had the al la carte menu on and a special menu of 3 courses for £24.95 to choose from. Myself and my husband chose from the al la carte menu, a few chose the other menu. We only had very minor complaints and it was mainly regarding the lack of communication between the staff waiting on, the waitresses would come to the table to ask if we needed more drinks, we said no then literally a couple of seconds later a different waitress would appear and ask the same. We managed to put drinks orders in separately but wasn’t able to do this with food although we were able to tell them what we had when we came to pay to make sure we were paying for our own. The waitress that took the original drinks order struggled a little, we presumed she was new as she came back to the table twice regarding the wine, firstly to re ask what wine we had ordered, then if I wanted a small or large glass when we had asked for a bottle. We have to say though, all the waitresses were super lovely and attentive. I would to thank the waitress Jessie (I think that’s what she said her name was) she was very helpful with the cake and packaging it up once cut. There was quite a long wait between courses but that was to be expected as we were a large party and there was another large party in, we weren’t too bothered as we were all chatting. Overall we would definitely be back, the food was hot, tasty and very generous portions. Pictures included are of a lot of the starters and mains, everyone ate different! We’ll see you soon!

Absolute love the cellar been going for 30 years , never been disappointed once would recommend. The staff are brilliant polite .

I would be here all day writing because I have so many positive things to say about this place. lets start with the basics and why I think this place deserves more positive attention. I've been a total of 5 times and here is my experience broken down into these catigories. food, absolutely delicious. atmosphere, acceptionally amazing. service, outstanding, if you need something just ask. over all rating, 10 out of 10. the staff here are acceptional and will continue to be for many years to come. heres an example of such that I witnessed last week. I went out for a birthday meel and during our servers routeen table checks offered to refill my lemonade a total of 4 times. now that's something you don't get often unless you ask. but this was without asking. that is an example of how well you could be treeted here. not once have I had a problem and in the 5 years I have visited it has always been acceptionally present. you totally get what you pay for and you will want to visit again after you have been once
