Toby Carvery in Oldham

If you’re in the mood for a meal that will truly test the limits of your taste buds—and not in a good way—then look no further! We recently treated ourselves to a takeaway from Toby Carvery Burnley Road and let me tell you, it was an experience we won’t forget (even though we wish we could). For starters, the “Ulti-Meat” selection came with a portion size so microscopic, we wondered if someone had accidentally eaten half of it on the way over. The meat that did make it to us was overcooked beyond recognition, practically see-through, and chewy enough to rival a dog toy. Forget juicy cuts of roast; this was more like a science experiment in what happens when you cook meat into oblivion. But the real highlight? One of the items resembled a sow’s ear, and I’m not exaggerating when I say it made us feel slightly nauseous and maybe even a bit violated just looking at it. An unforgettable visual, to say the least! So, if you’re craving a meal that leaves you questioning every life choice leading up to that moment, then absolutely give Tony Carvery a try. Otherwise, save yourself the trouble and find somewhere that serves food meant for humans, not whatever sad excuse for a meal this was supposed to be. Furthermore, they graciously charge £16.99 for the Ulti-Meat dish on Sundays, but only £12.49 on Mondays—because apparently, the privilege of being served disappointment is more valuable on the weekend. So, if you’re looking to feel even more ripped off, definitely go for the Sunday splurge. It’s a must for any family looking to blow their money frivolously!

Our server Josh was lovely and our carver Paul made sure our food was all good. The atmosphere was great and the food was lovely.

It was as always at Toby really good and enjoyable, food and drink was lovely, the restaurant and atmosphere was first class, and the staff as usual were so friendly and helpful especially Ellie who was fantastic will all my needs, couldn't be more pleased

Went here for a buffet breakfast on Sunday morning as we stayed at the travel Lodge on the same car park. It's not expensive to be fair but I understand why. The food quality is not very nice. All the fried eggs where dry. Sausage quality was not nice. Staff looked miserable. I asked for white bread for the toaster as it had ran out and the guy said OK then never brought it. My breakfast went cold and stood asking other staff and eventually it was brought. Noone seems to keep an eye on stuff that needs topping up. Overall the breakfast quality was not nice but I guess it was cheap. You get what you pay for I guess

Called in for the fresh carvery today.Freshly cooked gammon,but when I asked for some gammon, I was served with some which was hidden behind the fresh joint.Not fresh,a different colour to the fresh joint.I thought the idea of Toby carvery is that you see the fresh meat carved in front of you.Spoke to the manager and he said he would check about what I said and walked off and served someone else.Very unprofessional for a manager.

came in on a wednesday lunch as we love coming here we were served by abi who was very sweet and smiley lovely waitress to have as we have had her in the past . we had josh as our carver who was polite . was nice to see the staff smiling. food was amazing as always love to come here would recommend to family’s as it’s so welcoming

ordered from uber eats absolutely terrible meal, roast potatoes all hard no pigs in blankets food was very cold, 2 small gravy tubs for 3 calvary's also no custard with the fudge cake, not the first time this as been like this, so a definite no to toby calvary again

Came a couple of weeks ago, service was very slow, took over half an hour for desserts, tried asking waitress where they were and was told she didn’t know as it wasn’t her job to deal with desserts. In the same visit, heard an off duty manager sat with bar customers in the bar area swearing repeatedly. Yes, I am aware we are sat in the bar area but an actual employee to be sat, joining in and promoting this behaviour when quite clearly families and children were sat around is extremely disappointing. Not only this. We heard him talking about his weekend drug use and how he had been given the ‘wrong’ substance. Not something you expect a manager of a business to be discussing. Came back and tried again today, food stone cold, barely anything out on the counter, counter was disgusting, bits of food everywhere and dried up remenents of what is supposed to be fresh veg. In the bar area there were 5 tables full of plates and food, all of which were full and not cleared the full hour of our visit. We pointed this out to TWO members of waiting staff who responded with ‘there is no one on bar today to clear them’. Both of them just walked away and left five tables of food plates… supposedly as this ‘wasn’t their job’ as they are not on the bar. Very pleasant sat in an area absolutely covered in flies and leftover food. Clear lack of management paying attention to what needs doing here and directing staff appropriately. This place could be good, with the correct people. Sadly, this is not currently the case. If you’re going to hire bits of kids with 0 experience, people skills or customer service skills, at least give them a bit of training in utilising their time and working together as a team to achieve customer satisfaction. Two bad experiences, will not be returning.

Despite being busy we was seen fast and the customer service was amazing! Big thankyou to Nikkita for seeing us to our table and helping us with anything we needed! Such an amazing women and employee to Tobys.

We were visiting family in Manchester and we had our dinner together to celebrate my brother in law’s birthday. The food was okay but the service was excellent especially our server Erin as well as our carver Mckenzie. Erin was very friendly and attentive. Thanks Erin for great service, truly appreciated!

Came for Christmas dinner after having come here for the same a few years back. We've been really impressed both times with the quality of the food and the meat in particular was lovely. My 8 year old can be picky with his food but he said he really liked the lamb. Today we were served by Abi and Millie, and the carver was Scott. Thanks all for a wonderful time.

Normally go to Farm restaurants for a carvery but tried Toby for a change, not great, only able to have one size plate even if you have a big or small appetite, my mother would normally get a small carvery but was made to pay £15 like everyone else, not much choice on the carvery and it was only warm not hot even though it had only just been put out, won’t be going again unless Toby give you a choice of dinner sizes

I am a gluten free diet. I knew what I could have and not. When I told the waitress I was gluten free diet. She gave me a tablet to read about allergy etc. After reading. I filled a form in saying I was happy. I then asked if the chef could provide plain cauliflower instead of the cheese sauce. They was happy to oblige. All in all the meal was brilliant. And so we're all the staff.

Awful told to wait for food after paying for 10 mins we got coffee and toast.we went after 15 mins for food came back table cleared even though handbag was there. A long wait to be seen. Asked what allergies or intolerances I have. I am a coeliac. I was asked to sign something before eating, which of course I didn't want to do. I always feel it is hard work to go out for something to eat, but this took it to another level. I was looked at like I was being unreasonable not wanting to sign. Not coeliac friendly. Avoid.
