sun 13th april /25 not impressed evening sunday lunch not very fresh .yorkshire pud limp and not crisp as in fresh .pretty dissapointing really all the hype and pretty photos of the i terior didnt measure up sorry .

We visited for evening meals after a walk along the Wirral Way. Lovely meal with great service by Dan. Made to feel very welcome and the food was very tasty. Thank you!

Met up with a friend for dinner had fresh tasty food,lovely relaxed atmosphere. Amazing service from Daniel, he was friendly & attentive. Highly recommend.

We are regular customers to this establishment which is why writing this review is extremely disappointing, we usually eat here on a weekly basis and due to the set menu we couldn’t wait to try it. We arrived around 1pm on the 6th Feb, went to place our order on the starters on the set menu both of us wanted chicken strips, which they didn’t have so therefore we then had to eat off the main menu as nothing catered to our taste. My husband ordered the smothered chicken, requested extra chicken breast crispy bacon with chips and garlic bread with cheese on the side, for my 2 year old son he requested nuggets in which they didn’t have yet again so basically got a pizza with 2 sides of garlic bread and chips. Usually the food is absolutely incredible hence us being regular customers but unfortunately our experience today was anything but that. The food came both mine and my husbands chips were overdone and inedible and got sent back, the bacon was fatty and the extra chicken we paid for was invisible as it was nothing in comparison to normal. My sons meal they brought was pizza beans and garlic bread which wasn’t what we ordered so my son then had to wait for more chips with my husband too who whilst waiting his food was going cold. Not only this but when the side of garlic bread with cheese came out this came out with no cheese on it so we waited which didn’t come until we had finished our meal which defeats the object of a side all together. We are so sad to be writing this but we definitely won’t be returning anytime soon.

It was a car crash! I was attracted by your Burns night menu and looking forward to what was a first visit. You were woefully understaffed - 3 front of house - 3 in kitchen - it took over 2 hours before we had our main course. I asked for the bill as soon as it arrived as I wanted to leave there. Service was appalling - took ages to get anything - given the shortage of staff the ones that were there did as good a job as they can. Many people walked out. I will not be trying your pubs again - woeful and I was told that your management were warned about the lack of staff but ignored it - which rather shows how you feel about your customers and your own staff.

Great pub with lovely food and drink at sensible prices. Staff very helpful and good service. Would recommend for meeting friends, family.

Great food, great service. Unfortunately I cannot remember the young lady's name who served us on Saturday 18 January but it and she were excellent. We will be back again this month with friends.

Couple times visiting now and its offically my favourite place to eat and drink with friends and Family. One things the Hinderton Team get right is how friendly they are, knowledge about the menu and genuinely take time to chat with you. Great job Team Hinderton

Absolutely lovely setting. We all had the Festive menu. Our Turkey meal was outstanding. Lovely and hot and delicious.

We went here as a group for our Festive Meal and could not fault it. We all had the best time. We booked for 19 of us and the Hinderton Arms took care of us well. The portions were large and the starters and desserts were different, interesting and tasty. The atmosphere was brilliant. We hired the meeting room and it had been decorated well. We were all warm and cosy in there. I felt so relaxed and happy. The staff were humorous and efficient. Honestly I couldn't fault them on anything at all.

It’s been some time since we last visited but we thought we would give our local another try. What a warm welcome we received from Adam the new manager. On a rainy miserable Saturday late afternoon the only drink to have was a dark & stormy. It didn’t disappoint. Sipping it sitting by the fire felt relaxed cozy and warm. Thank You we will be back.

Turned up for a Sunday lunch undecided whether to dine in restaurant or bar area. Went for the restaurant very comfortable seating nice large comfortable table even though only 3 of us. Ellie and Emily were very attentive and knowledgeable great to see service with a smile. Food was very tastey and plenty of it. Very reasonable cost. Highly recommend the Sunday menu and will be returning in the near future.

Came her for a family meal, easy to book, very friendly team when we arrived and also really knowledgable about their menu. Food was really tasty and finished on some mouth watering desserts. Overall great experience and will be back very soon!

Myself and my family have eaten here for quite a few years now and have always found it to be an acceptable place to eat , but there seems to have been a shift in it's atmosphere that's due to the table we sat at being sticky as if not properly cleaned and a nasty smell I the air as well as a young male worker there speaking loudly down the telephone which is not actually conducive to a relaxed lunch. This was further exacerbated by the small portion of chips and thick wadges of stale bread that was served with my meal. I ordered a cordial and it barely tasted of the fruit it was supposed to be. I think if there has been a change of staff it has been a change for the worst. No-one wants a serving of male privilege with their fish and chips and for the women in their group to be called ladies in an attempt to patronise people.

Great service, great food, Greene King beer. Really can't go wrong with a place like this. Would highly recommend. Just great.

Sadly not the best visit food was only warm drinks were ok but not the best and apparently you don't get the same service if you have to sit in the pub area due to elderly parents eyesight sadly very let down on our visit and after informing chef and brewer only received a very poor email from the manager of Hinderton Arms sorry won't be returning or recommending.

Went with family mid week to try the Supper menu - two courses for £15 or 3 for £18,00. Tow of our party chose starter from main menu and then the 2 courses from the supper menu. They had Korean chicken - we had from 3 courses from supper menu and we had terrine and the hummus - really tasty. Mains from Supper menu included - chicken burger - fish and chips and mixed grill ( grill had a supplement of £3). They were happy to leave egg and chips off mixed grill and include new potatoes and veg instead, Puds we had the sticky toffee pudding - pie and custard and two had the mini dessert with any coffee of your choice. Great atmosphere and warm friendly welcome.

We arrived about 1 pm and seated to our table. The staff welcomed us warmly and gave us time to order. We both ordered steak and was cooked to perfection. We decided to chat over a coffee and found seats by the open fire which was a delight to find. We had a lovely afternoon and can’t wait to use the new decking area in the summer

We arrived to a warm welcome and a smile and quickly escorted to our table. Service for drinks and meal orders were prompt, cheerful and helpful especially for my need of gluten free options. Pleasingly since our last visit in October, offerings for those needing gluten free options was now presented on a hard copy menu, making choice selection a much more relaxed experience. Food was served very promptly and as with our earlier visit was to a high standard and well presented. A very good visit thank you. And very fair prices. I still suggest that there are other offerings on the menu that could readily be adapted during plating for coeliac needs and so marked on the main menu. Will check on our next visit!

We decided to book for Christmas Day Lunch and we were so glad we did! Not only did we have no food prep or washing up to do, but the food was beautiful. Definitely thinking about booking for 2024. Opted for the cauliflower & chestnut soup starter which was so good. Then I had the turkey which was exceptionally tasty - turkey can be dry but it was really tender and a very generous portion. The veg was all delicious, loved the homemade stuffing too and best of all - loads of gravy! I nearly always have to ask for more gravy when we go out but there was plenty, even for me. All of the desserts sounded great so I chose the trio of puds and couldn’t even start to decide which was the best. All beautiful. We’ve always enjoyed our meals here but the Christmas meal was something very special. V lucky it’s our ‘local’! Looking forward to going again tomorrow for my birthday meal.

First time we have been for a while and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The food has always been ok but this time it was very good especially the festive menu.

Supposed to be Christmas dinner 3very small frozen sprouts 3 pieces of potato supposed to be roast I piece of boiled parsnip 1 piece of boiled carrot a horrible sausage wrapped in some sort of bacon red cabbage a Yorkshire pudding that had seen better days and gravy granules that were still lumpy. A slice of something that was supposed to be Christmas pudding I could go on but I am really fed up with it now service very slow had to ask for the food after almost a hour a waste of money plus one of our group had a very nasty stomach upset never go their again

Being new to the area and trying this place for the first time…we will be for sure going back! Excellent food, excellent service by Alice and Jade. Made for an amazing family day out with my folks and kids. We had such a great time and the roast dinners will have us going back for more…booked in for today 18Dec!! We had a lovely evening with family. We had booked for an early Christmas get together and the festive menu did not disappoint. From starters through to desserts, everything was beautiful. The staff were brilliant.

We eat here about once a month. Last time I was tempted by the "Game Mixed Grill' special. All items were well overdone, probably pre-cooked and reheated. Worst venison I have ever eaten, tough and chewy. Will visit again eventually but in future will stick to Gammon and Chips, keeping it simple for the kitchen.

Very disappointing garlic mushrooms was swimming in sauce I had 3 meat roast meat was nice Yorkshire cold small amount of veg was rock hard swimming with gravy Husband had chicken and ham pie pastry was soft obviously been in microwave and not oven didn't bother with a pudding disappointing birthday treat

Out with my family of 12.. we were very disappointed.. service was very slow and meals didn’t meet expectation…overly priced…

Went with a friend for lunch and we were very impressed even though a bit expensive. Food was very tasty I had "the game mixed grill" I spoke to the lady serving us about it and said I would like to bring my Grandson at Half Term so he could try the different meats on the Game Platter. She told me that would be fine. I also had the cherry bread and butter pudding which was full of cherries. When we went back in Half Term there was No Game mixed grill so we got the fish platter and the venison shin both of which were awful, the sea bass was over cooked, the salmon was dry and the venison shin dish was truely awful that we never ate it. For dessert I again ordered the cherry bread and butter pudding and was very disappointed to find it only had One cherry in the whole dish. My grandson asked for just one scoop of ice cream but we were still charged for Three scoops. My Friend who is vegetarian chose the veg dish on the menu and was astounded to see that the dish presented to him was 2 quorn sausages in a dish of white beans. Not appertising at all, He was so affronted he would not even have a dessert. It cost £112.13 and it was not worth the cost We wont be going back

We arrived to a very warm welcome, offered a choice of table location and despite there seemingly only being one member of staff (who was exceedingly busy) received good and prompt service. We were advised on the menu choices and guided on what was my main requirement of gluten free options. More about this process later. The food when it arrived had been cooked to very high standards and at reasonable prices. There was a slight delay to the delivery of the desserts, but also accompanied by an apology. So, all in all we would happily return in future and recommend to our friends; but with a cautionary note to those with allergies. Turning to the needs of coeliacs and other allergy needs, I feel more could be done. We were advised that fully gluten free options could not be offered or assured and that we had to accept this limitation and risk. We were then given access to a keypad where we could enter our needs - mine simply being a gluten allergy. The process then invited me to look at the menu options that the device would offer; not an easy experience for octogenarians with limited IT proficiency. Pressing "Lunch" led to the discovery that nothing could be offered. Pressing "Mains" gave two options - gammon including chips and Sea Bass and scallops with risotto. On ordering the gammon I was advised that I could not have it with the chips as they had a coating unsuitable for me; I could have as an alternative a baked potato or mash (not specified by the device!). Looking at the desserts - this time offered on a much more user-friendly printed menu - the choice was slightly better, but somewhat restricted. Hence my assertion that more thought could be given to those with intolerances or allergies, and I would encourage that the main printed menu be reviewed to include further choices, along with a printed indication as to whether (as in the case of coeliacs) as many choices as possible be marked up as being either gluten free or that with modification during plating, a gluten free option is available. I suggest that this would avoid chance of confusion, save staff time and lead to a more relaxed dining experience.

Decided to go here for the sunday roast. It didnt disappoint . I ordered a trio of meat wereas my friend opted for the rib of sirloin of beef which came on a huge bone. I wished id of ordered this now although i have to say mine was really nice. The staff there were very helpful especially the lovely Stevie she was really on the ball and very helpful, which seems to be not the case in many many other places. I will definately be returning

I came here with family as I am not local and I was not dissapointed. Lovely welcome from Jade and her team , they could not do enough for us all. The service was prompt and professional with suggestions on what to eat. We had a beautiful roast dinner , then I chose the Sticky Toffee Pud , it was the best and I have eaten a lot of them! I did return again as the food and service was so good , this time I opted for the chicken and ham hock pie , it was amazing . Even though I live in Surrey I will make sure when I visit next I will be back Well done !

First visit to the Hinderton Arms and we took friends along who had never eaten here before either. Outside is a large beautiful seating area. Inside is warm and welcoming and fab twinkling lights added to atmosphere. We decided to order mains and desserts rather than starters. Two had the Korean chicken plate - both described the meal as average and quite dry. One had the smothered chicken - chicken was overcooked and dry inside - sauce non existent. I had the chicken and leek pie - which was very good, served with mash and gravy. I had the apple tart with ice cream - think coconut ice cream with apple was a bit weird for me, as was the leafy garnish to top that added nothing to this pud. Friend had the ice cream sundae which was supposed to have caramel in it - but she advised hardly any taste of caramel at all. Husband had the sticky toffee pudding - which he enjoyed. Overall our meals seem to be a bit hit and miss. Service was friendly and with a smile. Everywhere very clean. We will try again but possibly for lunch type food only.

Had to come on here to review , as i have just read other reviews after eating a Sunday roast here today . We arrived having not booked after a lovely few hours walk around Ness gardens. Roast was gorgeous , we had the turkey with apple sauce. Don't understand the bad reviews , was gorgeous and glad we found this place. While the roast potatoes were not the best (tasted previously frozen ) also not maris piper ? i did eat them all and finished my plate. Desert was lovely , we had the cheesecake with ice cream was delicious. We will be back here again in the future when in the area. Staff were lovely too , the girls were rushed off their feet and never stopped. Lovely friendly staff. Also liked the space around the tables and not being ontop of other people . Booked for Sunday lunch and arrived to a half full restaurant. The welcome was warm which was a good start. The starter ordered was an antipasti platter. This was ok, meats so so though breads not so fresh and baked camembert just ok. Anyways...onto the mains of aged Sirloin on the bone and pork loin roasts as well as a side of pigs in blankets. And this is where it starts to go wrong. The two huge sausages with a tiny bit of bacon were hard, clearly microwaved past the point of being able to be cut easily. No thanks. The mains....my pork loin was two really thin slices of pork that was tasteless, roasties that I'd bet a fair amount are aunt Bessie's, briocoll that was again tasteless and a huge Yorkshire that dwarfed the plate unfortunately. My wife's beef was very tender but again tasteless and needed horseradish aplenty. The waitress was great, nothing was too much of a bother and when I mentioned the pigs they were knocked off the bill. I think management need to look at the comments recently and do something about the standard of food served as this used to be an excellent eaterie.

I’m going to disagree with the few previous reviews, as I have to say our visit was overall lovely, as on previous occasions, all starters cooked perfectly, 2 main courses fish & chips, great size of fish & lovely crispy batter, but this is where I’ve dropped one star, I ordered the sirloin steak, I knew I was in trouble when the steak knife bounced off the meat 😂 the steak was so tough it was inedible, the staff were lovely tho, and offered to get me another, I declined as I felt it was the quality of the meat that was in question not the cooking, it was taken off the bill and i had a nice dessert instead, so the actual visit was overall a nice occasion

We travelled here from North Wales, we booked for Father's Day Lunch, not realising it was a set menu. This wasnt really an issue as we were told we didnt have to have all 3 courses. Two of us ordered starters - King Prawns, They looked amazing, 3 huge prawns on a plate with veg that was drowned in oil/butter. I only managed two of the prawns as they were completely tasteless and very rubbery. For mains, 2 of us ordered the turkey roast and one sirloin beef roast. Our waiter asked if we wanted pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese, or any sides. We asked if the pigs in blankets came with the turkey as it stated on the menu but the waiter didnt seem to understand our question, so asked us again, if we wanted pigs in blankets or not, to which my husband replied, yes, if they were part of the meal, and yes, we wanted cauliflower cheese. When the meals arrived, again, they looked amazing. The waitress then brought 2 dishes, each containing 2 very large sausage wrapped with a small amount of bacon in each. This was as well as the ones on our plates. I dont know how they would expect anyone to eat an extra two of those to be honest! The cauliflower cheese was rock hard, like raw cauli had been covered in cheese and popped in the oven for a few minutes, it was inedible. The waiter did offer to get a replacement but we declined. Then the veg on the meals was equally undercooked, aside from, the one slice of carrot and parsnip that were way overdone. The roast potatoes tasted suspiciously like Aunt Bessies and were as dry as a bone, making them hard to swallow, again, inedible. We all decided not to bother with desert, we'd had enough at that point. All in all, it was a complete waste of money and not worth the long trip, we wont be in a rush to come back.

We had planned to bring 3 elderly ladies for dinner last Tues. I looked up the website about 5pm to see if we needed to book. Every 15min slot from 5 till 9 was free so I didn't bother to book as it takes a while to get moving with 90 year olds- zimmer frames to be loaded in car etc so wasn't exactly sure what time we would get there. When we arrived about 6.45 we were amazed to find there were no free tables, it was quiz night. I can only assume you don't update your website as when I looked at it later there were still plenty of free slots. Very disappointing and poor management.

After being a regular visitor I was very disappointed on this occasion. No friendly greeting as usual, the young girl serving very miserable and unhelpful, gluten free menu reduced, no candles lit, nobody asked how our meal was, no atmosphere, such a shame as this was our go to place for that special evening meal

The pub was practically empty and there was little atmosphere on this occasion, which surprised me. The lady who served me at the bar was very friendly and chatty, and welcoming. On the other hand, the young girl who was serving our table didn't smile once, made no effort to engage in conversation or even ask us how our meal was once it had been served.. The food was average. i ordered a starter ( garlic mushrooms on ciabatta and a side order of chips) These arrived promptly and were nice and hot, but the portion sizes for the price were not value for money. Aprroxinalety 6 small pieces of mushroom on a small piece of bread. Tasted nice but nothing special. I also ordered a portion of pigs in blankets.... two thick sausages sparsely wrapped in bacon arrived, overcooked and not how you would expect them to be ( pigs in blankets are usually small sausages with a decent amount of bacon) . Maybe some consideration for those on a diabetic diet / no carbs might have made the visit better too. I would suggest omelettes perhaps and even a cheese board. Salads would also have been acceptable - we were only offered the Sunday menu. Since the change in manager, this venue has gone down in my estimations. On a previous occasion - we ordered a buffet for 15 people which barely allowed for one item per person. When we had the buffet here in previous years - the quantity of food was much better. We will not be using this venue again for our special occasions.

We visited today and we were disappointed with the meals we received. The fish was good but the thin chips were very ordinary. Surely the prices demand hand cooked chips. The pie was tasteless and the vegetables were awful, being tasteless and like mush.

We have eaten at the Hinderton Arms on a number of occasions when visiting family in the local area, we always have a good meal and a good time.
