I cannot thank two of your barmaids enough for the service they gave me. I threw up all over myself pretty badly, which was very embarrassing, and I apologise again for the mess. It would’ve been really easy for them to just kick me out immediately, but they were very understanding with it being New Year’s Eve, and they even covered my taxi fare to make sure I got home safely. I hope they can see this review, and I’ll definitely be back some time for my fourth visit. All the very best and Happy New Year!

Visited for the first time for lunch. It was very busy. There was a lovely atmosphere in such a beautiful building with so much history. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the wait time for the food was only around 10 minutes. We had the steak pie and Haddock and chips. It was cooking hot, big portions and tasted Lovely. It's really good pint in a nice atmosphere. I asked the lad behind the bar for something similar to Guinness, and his recommendation was spot on. What is particularly nice is that you feel like you are sitting in some great hall in times gone by. What an incredible pub. The interior is worth a visit anyway despite the fabulous amount of high quality beers on offer. The building is clearly a few hundred years old and has been tastefully restored into a wonderful tap room. Access is via a steep set of stairs, but is worth the climb. Staff are friendly and getting served is easy, even when there’s a queue. Possibly my favourite pub I’ve visited in some time. I loved this tap room.

What I also liked was the guy behind the bar asked if I wanted to do a tab. This was very handy to have to keep paying. The Brewery Tap and King’s Kitchen @ Chester, UK 💭The Brewery Tap and King’s Kitchen resides in an old Jacobean hall. It was said to have been visited by King Charles I. It was recommended to me by a local Chesterian English Heritage who was providing tour guide over at nearby Agricola Castle. English Heritage is a charity that cares for over 400 historic buildings, monuments and sites in Great Britain. Atmosphere: Casual, relaxed neighborhood pub and kitchen that can be found in an old Jacobean hall. Very popular with locals with take out and dine ins. Service: Order over the counter. Food and drink will be served to you. Staff is friendly, courteous and can provide good recommendations. Food: Ordered their wickedly good Sunday Beef Roast paired with their smashing Lost in Time Hazy ne Pale beer. The Sunday Roast’s beer were tender and juicy, roast potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, carrots and Swede mash was soft, velvety and sweet, cheesy leeks had a nice smokiness to it, Yorkshire pudding was soft and savory. It all goes well with a side of greens and horseradish. Lost in Time Hazy ne Pale beer paired really well with the Sunday beef roast . It was refreshing, fruit forward, citrus and with the right amount of bitterness from the hops. A perfect summer beer.

This an unusual pub in that entrance is on the first floor. Even more unusual is that it was originally a Jacobian great hall. It's a very well done sympathetic conversion and interesting to look at. They have a great range of real ales and ciders, probably one of the best selections in Chester. The only downside of the pub is the steps. When you've had a few pints and come outside the steps down look quite steep, but it's still well worth a visit.
