Another great bar in Matthew Street one ti visit

Usually I love rubber soul as it’s my favourite club in Liverpool, great music and staff. Another security guard ID’ed me and let me through. Yet the new security guard stepped in and refused me entry. Me and my friends would regularly come and spend our night in rubber soul. However due to be humiliated infront of everyone and refused entry, I am really disappointed and will not return.

A bustling pub that’s popular with tourists and groups on holiday in Liverpool. There’s regular live music on and the vibe is friendly and fun.

What training do the bouncers here have? Truly horrible and unprofessional. The female bar staff told me my friend has been assaulted and was was told to leave as my friend was too drunk (which is fine I understood) I tried to tell the bouncer she had left her phone inside and could I go look for it and shoved my about three grown men. So much for keeping us ‘safe’. Horrible experience and makes me never want to go to matthew street again. I felt really unsafe and scared. Please do better to make women feel safe and get some female bouncers OR get some training on safeguarding and the basics of not unnecessarily putting your hands on people and using force when you don’t need to.

Need more bar staff, especially on a Saturday night. Place was jammed and it took ages to get a drink

Had a great couple of hours one afternoon, the prices for ale were fantastic, really enjoyed ourselves.

Decent spot, would revisit again. It’s big enough that you are not too crowded. Nice atmosphere.

Nice atmosphere and good range of music on. Drinks especially bottles on the pricey side though.

Bald bouncer is a racist. I went with me friends, he did not let me in only because I was Polish... Unacceptable

BE AWARE! Watered down alcohol. After many drinks I left their sober. Went to another place and drank the same from bottles and the difference was unbelievable. Shame on you ripping off the public

Very bad place, it was my best place before but the new staff at door very rude and، He harassed my girlfriend and tried to get close to her, and he is trying to use his job as security to impose his power on the customers. I will file a complaint against him and will never leave him.

The bouncer outside was extremely rude. He didn’t let me in, because I was wearing tracksuit pants. What’s more, he spoke very aggressively. The bar itself looks amazing, and I’m sure the bar staff are very good people, but unfortunately I didn’t get to experience it… thanks to this horrible bouncer.

Bouncers are very unprofessional and very girly… they really need some training! “Bouncer “ from pic no one been very moody and sound very angry from first minute we got there - we decided to go to different pub because his attitude put us off so much . When we back they didn’t let us in - obviously without any reason - probably moody bouncer once again. Until bouncers won’t be sorted and retrained - NOT RECOMMENDED ! Ps* girly bouncer need to leave his emotions at home and start working if I’m honest … Bad experience

Popped in for a quick drink and stayed 3 hours. Great entertainment from the 2 singers I saw and good beer. Very reasonable prices and very efficient var staff.

Wow rude bar staff or what ,thought I was visiting one on them place we're it free to be rude to customers. Visits Sunday 11/06 .Wow simply asked why the barman ignored our group ? Only to be met with another rude member of staff .Yes it was steady but not packed ! Shame as our group spent over £200 the day before. Disappointed with lack of staff + rudness. Plenty of more bars to spend money so off we went

Place was okay but they need training on cocktails they were awful ordered cherry bakewell instead of amaretto she put chambord in instead and I noticed other people were getting the wrong cocktails as well definitely need training if they are serving cocktails, both drinks cost 12 pound it's alot for a drink that tasted like garbage. I travel and go to many bars and this cocktail is well known and easy to do but apart from that a great night,.

Waited over 30 minutes for a drink barman with long blonde hair and blue fringe would not serve us was serving other people over us and it ruined our evening. We walked out after 40 minutes without a drink and went to revolution were we got served immediately. Very rude staff!!! I will not come here again because of him, disgusting individual.

This place is a vibe, with crazy good prices on drinks. We had 3 pints and one soft drink for around £11. The bar man was great and very welcoming, super laid back pub. Great music and well decorated in tune with its surroundings. A must visit on your trip to Liverpool!

ciera was fantastic on the bar tonight! they helperd to create and add to a fantastic atmosphere and made my friends and I feel incredibly welcome for our first time at rubber soul!

Absolutely amazing afternoon or evening out!! Bar isn't too pricey and there is constant live music! Sports on lots of huge T.Vs as well so caters for everyone! Lots of seating and really chilled out. Absolutely love it and always come here when I visit Liverpool, lots of potential for photos for tourists too! Definitely visit :)

En nuestro primer día en Liverpool estando en Mathew street decidimos entrar en rubber soul y una vez el primer portero nos revisa la mochila y estábamos casi dentro, un empleado que presuntamente era el dueño no nos deja entrar directamente por ser turistas.......o españoles, no lo sé...... sí, incomprensible....le pedimos explicación del porqué ya que el bar no estaba ni mucho menos completo y sin darnos motivo nos dijo que nada que no podiamos entrar.....Totalmente sorprendente!!!

Waited 15 minutes at the bar while 2 staff Only served 3,female kept sorting cups under counter male to busy drinking his yazoo. Pointed out to male staff i was waiting he then proceeded to talk about me to his colleague calling me a "coffin dodger " .we walked out as could not spend any money where total unprofessional and rude staff are

Great venue, with good music, and even better staff. Tash (manager) in particular, is fantastic - I lost my phone while in Liverpool for the weekend. After verifying the phone was mine, Tash couldn’t do enough to help me – she even posted my phone to me to save me the hassle of travelling back to get it! Will definitely return the next time we are in Liverpool.

Visited for a family birthday and were welcomed in and told the venue was wheelchair accessible. After we had bought lots of drinks one of our party needed to use the accessible toilet, which was up a FLIGHT OF STAIRS. The only solution the management could provide was two benches folded up which the expected the wheelchair user to ride her wheelchair up- so unsafe and not even possible. She ended up having to be lifted up the stars by the bouncers. An absolutely humiliating way to use the toilet, and the staff didn’t do anything to make up for this or apologise. DO NOT CLAIM TO BE AN ACCESSIBLE VENUE WHEN YOU DONT EVEN HAVE A RAMP! Awful experince, have they never had a wheelchair user in thier venue before? Disgusting

During the day they have acts, at night dance your cares away. Beware the rise in drinks cost after 5pm. Apart from that can't fault this bar.

I recently visited and immediately loved the place! they have 3 different bars, each with a unique vibe. When I visited they had live music on which was excellent, all the staff were friendly and the drinks were fairly priced. I would absolutely recommend this bar. Unfortunately, while I was there, I fell very ill, but the bouncers and staff were all exceptionally kind and looked after me, even helping me into a taxi to get home. I had left my phone at the bar, and when I went to pick it up the next day not only were the staff, again, incredibly kind and helpful, they had also charged my phone, and even recognised me and said they were glad I was looking better. Overall, a fantastic bar. I will be recommending it to everyone I know :)

Lovely experience,friendly and efficient staff.

They will take your money all night long until you question someone over a pint then you will blacklisted and refused service because being a customer you are wrong. The old don’t talk to me like that come into play when it was the girl behind the bar with the attitude. I’ll tell you what let’s discriminate against those with a difference of opinion!!!!

Themed pub/bar in the Cavern quarter, welcoming staff, nice cool escape from the summer heat for a couple of drinks. Statues of the Fab 4 inside for photo ops.Our 7 year old was made very welcome early afternoon, but kids not allowed after about 6pm we were told.

Really nice atmosphere in here really laid back. How ever the drinks were disgusting. The beers were flat and the rose was so bad the gf had to call a member of staff over to swap it for a vodka lemonade. Won’t be rushing back.

I visited Liverpool with my family this week and had been to this bar on previous occasions and was always great but on this occasion I was very disappointed, I asked if they had cocktails and she said only pornstar martinis so we asked for two and was charged £14 which I though was a bit expensive and then when the cocktails arrived I asked where the passion fruit was and the shot of prosecco that comes with a pornstar martini and was told.they didn't have either, so to be charged £14 for half a cocktail was a disgrace. I also asked to charge my phone to be told no, I could have been a woman on my own needing help or to contact someone. Very unhappy with the service I received.

Flat beer and bacardi and coke was terrible

Now that some of the coronavirus lockdown restrictions are being lifted for the hard hit hospitality sector with pubs being allowed to reopen with outside service only so it was great getting out and took again walking around our city centre, taking in the great architecture and visiting some of the great pubs our city is justifiably famous for, my twin brother Stephen and I headed to Mathew Street and we decided to drop by Rubber Soul, a very popular bar along this most touristic of streets.This bar looks cool ,its got a nice interior, exposed brickwork, neon lite features, nice decor and furnishings and plenty of seating options spread throughout this bar both inside and outside looking out onto the busy and bustling Mathew Street. We were here on a Thursday afternoon, outside seating only till the 17th of May, we luckily managed to get a table, we track and traced and ordered a guinness each, guinness was served in excellent condition, we just kicked back, chilled out and took in the great bar we were in and the great location. My guinness was outstanding, a rich,thick, creamy and most importantly iced cold guinness bursting with taste, very easy to drink, it was just so good being in such a lovely bar enjoying a quality brew and socialising again albeit socially distanced. We really enjoyed our guinness in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to here we had a great time. Rubber Soul is easy to locate along Mathew Street, a street and area teeming with pubs and bars being a major tourist destination due to its Beatles connections.A wonderful bar, if your in the Cavern Quarter most definitely well worth checking out.
