Banny's Fish & Chips in Pendle

A very disappointing fish and chip meal in terms of poor quality and price . The poor quality tasteless haddock was disguised with a hard bitter taste batter . Unfortunately at the time the waiting staff had disappeared and therefore there was no approach to the table to check if everything was satisfactory with the meal . Regrettably we ate the meal and at the point of payment I did relay our disappointment with the meal and the waitress spoke to the kitchen chef and a decision was reached to deduct the price of one portion of chips from the bill. We will not be returning to the Banny's Restaurant when we visit the Boundary Mills .

A first time visit for a late lunch. I liked the choices on the menu, mostly fish with some chicken alternatives and burger. There are also some Plant based options. We really enjoyed The ‘Indian fish & chips’ and The Bombay Chicken and chips which we decided to share between us, It was most enjoyable with plenty of flavour. Service was good and the restaurant area was very clean. I would certainly be happy to come back again .

I have been here a few times and was ok. This time I was not happy. I ordered the fish and salad. The fish was fine but the salad tasted of raw fish and was very unpleasant. I mentioned this to the server but never even got an apology so it's the last time I will go. The other problem is that the fish often tastes of curry. They obviously use the same pans to cook their curried fish. Not good enough.

Called for tea in the restaurant, after visiting Boundary mills, we were seated straight away, the restaurant was nearly empty. We ordered fish & chips £14.99 including peas, plus add ons for bread/butter and tea/coffee all extra. The size of the fish was so small when brought to the table the waiter seemed embarrassed. I said the fish are so small he just walked away. No fault of the waiter. The place has definitely gone down since our last visit prices have gone up and portions are so much smaller. We will not be going back again. Best thing of this restaurant is plenty of parking.

Food was outstanding, the fish was cooked perfectly and the chips crisp and fresh, my daughter ordered salt n chilli chicken with chips which were very flavoursome and my mother in law ordered the Indian fish and chips, all I can say is OMG what a twist to a traditional English dish, it was so so tasty it was mind blowing. My ONLY gripe was the staff were a little slow collecting plates and no one asked if we wanted desserts, we had to ask to order them. But again the desserts didn't disappoint. Food was value for money, it's a little bit more expensive than normal fish and chips, but once you eat it, you will know why.

I arrived about 2 pm solo. Sat at a window so nice. Ordered a haddock and salad. Then told the pea's or gravy was included. Seemed strange to have mushy peas with salad but never mind. Fish was nice though small fot the price My problem was that the salad tasted of old raw fish. Mentioned to the waiter but he never came back to me. Never have a salad there again. It put me off the food.

We have visited a number of times and Bannys was excellent quality at first but of late it has been awful, we went midweek and put the poor food quality down to that fact but the latest visit was on a Friday and we then found it even worse with fish reduced in size and batter very greasy. We will NOT be visiting again as it has gradually diminished in quality and it is not worth the money.

Extremely poor food. Chips were completely undercooked, asked if they could be replaced with more well done chips but original order returned after being microwaved! Long wait for drinks which came at the same time as food. Service seems disorganised and in need of training. Expensive anyway but when it’s this bad it’s just a waste of money. Won’t be going again.

We popped into Bannys in Colne, and the experience was a mixed bag. The atmosphere was alright, cosy enough for a casual dinner but nothing special. The fish and chips were decent, though a bit pricey for the flavours. On the bright side, the service was fast, and the staff were genuinely friendly. We had an issue with a cold dessert, but they quickly fixed it. Overall, it was a "meh" experience. If you're in the area and want a quick fish supper with friendly service, Bannys might do the trick! They also offer some interesting dishes with an Indian twist.

We popped to bannys to get some lunch , but as we're on a tight schedule today we decided to try the take away , and boy was that a mistake, I believe the chips had started of as potatoes but that was probably several days ago as these had been reheated and reheated many times, they where hard tasteless and it was a terrible experience

Every time I'm local (4 times a year) I always popped in at Banny's for my fish and chip dinner. I've been coming to Banny's ever since it opened. My last visit was AWFUL. I had to wait to order for over 20 minutes....I even called the phone number to get the waiters attention ! The food arrived (eventually) and my drink 10 minutes later !?!?! Fish batter greasy and not crispy, chips tasteless. Gravy thin and tasteless. A true tragedy, Banny's was always the best fish and chips in the north. The owners need to get back in control and get it back to basics before ALL your loyal fan base take their £££ somewhere else. Come on Bannister and co, pull your fingers out......

Banny’s has gone downhill this year. The fish and chips were tasteless (oh, but the fish batter tasted of ONION!). The chips were poor quality with many black bits, and the food was cold. We have given up to Banny’s. It used to be good, but not now.

Nice waitstaff. Very mediocre, tasteless food. We had the fish and chips. The fish didn’t taste fresh, and the batter was too oily. The chips were oven chips that tasted as though they’d been double cooked or kept warm for too long. They were tough and barely edible. We got a refund on the chips. We won’t be returning here.

We stopped here passing through for a meal. The entrance is lovely and we were greeted and sat down promptly. After a wait our order was taken and food arrived in good time but must say that the fish was totally tasteless and very oily, the mushy peas not so mushy, still formed pea shapes and tasteless. No brown sauce and £1.50 for 2 slices of bread. We finished our meals and sat waiting for the table to be cleared! Staff kept walking past setting up empty tables and sweeping the floor and nobody was actually coming to see if we needed anything else, even though there were only a couple of other tables in do not busy. In the end we called a waitress over and she asked ‘how can I help you’! You can start by taking away these dirty plates that have been in front of us for at least 30 mins. We ordered desserts and the Sundae came without the flake in it. All in all a very poor experience

We have a car club meet at Banny's every month and have been very happy, but the last couple of months the food has been really disappointing. The fish has become incredibly greasy and the chips are cold and chewy. A number of us felt bloated and unwell. This last time we were shocked at how much the prices have gone up. We had two fish and chips, salad, and two soft drinks that came to over £37. I don't know what's going on at Banny's but we aren't happy and we won't be returning.

Have enjoyed Banny's many times but yesterdays visit will be my last. The fish and chips were inedible, greasy, overcooked batter, wafer thin fish and chips like leftovers. All of these faults have been mentioned numerous times on T.A. but have obviously not been rectified, why ask for customer feedback and then ignore faults that have been raised time and time again. No wonder the once busy restaurant is loosing custom. I did speak to a lovely young lady who got a manager and the price of my meal was removed from the bill but sadly this does not rectify the sad decline in the restaurant. Customers vote with their feet and return custom is a necessity for a business to survive, Banny's management/owners need to take note of their customers remarks and sort the problems out.

Food and service good BUT spotted slug trails by the kitchen door. Spoke to the manager who seemed indifferent to it...hopefully these slugs were not inside the kitchen as well...needs to be addressed urgently.

have been there twice now and both times the fish and chips were way below standard. My fish was like a burnt offering and the chips were loaded with scraps, so wont be eating there anymore.

Fish, chips, curry sauce and mushy peas were superb. First time visiting, very quick service, lovely staff and amazing food. Certainly will be back.

Takeaway today. Cheese and onion pie was a large slice of fresh, tasty pie. Chips crispy outside soft inside. Peas very nice. I am lactose intolerant and having discussed this with the staff Louise and Samar. Chef Alex was happy for freshly steam a fresh haddock for me. Result! Delicious too. We will definitely be here again soon.

Group of 6 including 2 children. Well looked after by serving staff on table 39 Sunday 17 March for lunch. Friendly and easy going. The must have by nearly all of us Indian Style Fish & Chips. Rated as very tasty and decent portions. But the secret on the menu for dessert Deep Fried Mars bar (other makes can be used!). On a skewer with ice cream and caramel sauce. OMG fantastic. Has to be asked for as it’s not a published item. A must!

We are disappointed at our meal We ordered Haddock and Chips we was looking forward to it as we heard so much hype about Banny’s, when the meal came out we was taken back as there was no presentation at all, the meal was luke warm the chips was all over the place, they looked like they were thrown on a plate, I was expecting the chips to be Chucky and soft and Christy on the outside but no just bland boring chips look like odd scraps, the fish was ok but way too much batter, more batter than fish. We will not be going back and wished we went to Banister’s instead much better restaurant. I paid £36 for 2 Haddocks and Chips Curry sauce 2 mushy pea not all that. Oh we had two soft drinks orange and passion fruit and I had apple and raspberry Didn’t taste nice too watery.

What an absolutely appalling evening! Fish and Chips! Cold chips mostly black…returned and brought back….not much better. Loads of batter on fish….nobody about all huddled in reception round desk! What is happening? They did take chips off final bill….throughly disappointed…..

Fabulous Indian fish n chips. Just wow, 3rd visit here, huge portions, fabulous flavours, beautiful good quality fish with a melt in the mouth batter. Highly recommend! We will be back

Not the place it once was….. service was still good, prices slightly higher, but the food was lacking, both in quality and quantity. The food was cold and over cooked, I had the fish tikka kebab, the fish was the size of a small fish finger, the opposite of value for money. Come on Banny’s, sort things out please! !

We've been going here for many years now and have always been happy with the quality of food and service, but our last visit was very disappointing. The prices have increased and the portions have got smaller. The food was only just warm not served hot as it should be. We also had to wait quite a while for someone to take our order even though it wasn't very busy. We won't be going back!

We havnt eaten at Banny's fish and chip restaurant for a while and I must say the food and service were both disappointing..on Arrival we waited in the waiting area to be seated as instructed by the sign .We waited for a while and my husband had to go into the restaurant and find a member of staff to escort us into the restaurant..Some staff were joking about and were not very professional..I get that students have to earn some money. But such frivolity should not be seen in front of customers The food portions have definitely got smaller We waited 20mins for our plates to be cleared and our desert order to be taken .we gave up . .we will not be returning anytime soon

Arrived on Thursday 5 oct . Group of 7. 19.30. When the meal came I was disappointed to say the least. Mine was Barely warm. No member of staff cane near to ask how the meal was . This has put me off visiting again. Even when the meal was finished the table was not cleared . Our group use bannys each month . This is the first bad experience and it will be the last as I will not be returning.

Absolutely shocking. Food arrived cold. More batter than fish. Food arrived late. I’d rather eat at McDonald’s. Bannys used to be good, but tonight has been absolutely shocking.

Chewwy chips, over-priced, small portions, curry sauce was like water. We won't be coming back again. Really disappointed. I even went back in with the curry sauce to check if it was supposed to be like that and they said that's how they make it. Couldn't even use it as a sauce as it run off the chips. They did change it for gravy but that was just bisto.

We were recommended to visit Bannys but were really disappointed. Both of us had the fish and chips, which were served after about a ten minute wait. sadly, with of us thought that most of the chips were extremely 'chewy', certainly not crisp on the outside with fluffy inners. The waitress cleared the plates and didn't ask if things were ok (though there were plenty of chips left on both plates). After paying at the till I happened to say to the waitress that the chips were very poor and her response was 'Yes we know that, we have a problem we are trying to sort it'. Now, if we had been told that before we sat down I guess we may have left a meal there for another visit. Then again we live and we learn how some companies attitudes aren't exactly about giving the customer satisfaction !

Cheese pie, chips, curry sauce and peas. Cheese pie served as a slice, this was reasonable, peas and sauce ok, chips were awful, chewy, old, been sat ages by taste and texture, and I didn't need to hear one of the male staff members, who had just pie slices in to warm up, shout across he was' going t'ert toilet'! Not very professional in a catering establishment.

I have never written a 1 star review but the fish and chips we had from the takeaway were the worst I have ever had the misfortune to buy. The fish was over cooked and so thin that the batter was thicker and that was on the lightly battered fish. Mushy peas were tasteless and chips average. The only thing worth having was the dandelion and burdock. Needless to say we won’t be going back there again, a wasted £40

The place was quiet, however the service was very poor. We had to wait for our order to be taken after two people who arrived after us had their orders taken. Their drinks came out without any problem. We had to ask twice for husbands coffee. The food was greasy. We have had better service and food here.

As previous reviewer said I too had an overdone fish burger with no taste. When asked by waitress had I enjoyed my meal I said I hadn’t but my daughters (different) meal was fine. She asked why I hadn’t and I explained. She said sorry I will have a word with the manager and see what he can do. We waited and waited - eventually we asked another waitress what was happening and she said I’ll ask the manager. I wish she hadn’t bothered. He was very short with us and said “I’ll explain what you should have done - called us over instead of eating it!” I then gave up as he was being very curt and I said also two of the ladies toilets have no toilet paper to which he sharply replied “well the cleaner said they were ok this morning”. (We were there at 5.45 pm. I told him the soap dispensers were empty. His answer? “Hmm” Never again would I visit this place - AVOID!

Just visted Bannys, been coming for years. Ordered the Indian fish and chips. Had it previously no issues. Today it was overcooked and the batter was dark. I ate the fish from inside the batter. I made the manager aware and he said next time call us when served and we will change it. I left. My daughter was in queue to pay and witnessed him rolling his eyes at the waitress as I left him.
