Food on offer, very poor choice. No starters or sweets on offer and the main choice was limited to 3 items. Nothing was homemade, merely cooked from frozen and served up. Clearly, the previous reviews do not match up with what I was given. Change of ownership?

Turned up at 12 on a Saturday when they were to open. Doors didn't open until 10 past, but we were happy to wait. Arrived to a bar full of dirty glasses from the previous evening then only to be told the kitchen was closed; not the most welcoming. Decided to just get a drink and a few bags of crisps but alas, they didn't even have crisps or peanuts to snack on. Decided to give up and walk to a functioning pub elsewhere. Poor and disappointing.

Was so disappointed yesterday when I stopped on my walk for a quick bite to eat ordered some chips and a pint. Genuinely could not eat the chips either re heated or just bury and dry and tasteless. Was expecting a lot more. Maybe good for a drink and atmosphere but food must be shocking if you can’t serve up a decent bowl of chips

This lovely pub has had many ups and downs in the last five years, spending many of them closed, COVID and brewery to blame. Finally it is being run as a pub pub and not some up it's own bottom restaurant type place. The pool table has returned, there's a jukebox, and fruit machines. The staff are friendly and work hard. The menu is on the basic side, which I personally don't have a problem with, after all it's a pub not a restaurant, and given the size of the kitchen they do a grand job. Meals are well presented and it's good grub reasonably priced. They now have a good selection of beers, cider etc. and not the usual tat. A very nice location along side the Leeds Liverpool canal, ideal for walkers, cyclists, and boaters alike. Large fenced beer garden ideal for families. Dogs welcome. Good luck to Michelle and the team - you deserve it.

If you can get in to the place it's a lovely local pub...However, this place really needs to get a grip of when it is actually open and when it's not! - can fully appreciate this is a family business but either change your opening hours to 'flexible' or actually open when you say you're open. Now on the third time after being in the area, the last time on a walk, when was thinking of stopping in after 3pm to be told it can't be opened until 4 pm, previous time was due to a delivery. Sorry not good enough. Either open at 3pm, as advertised, or, again, say otherwise, you're losing business because of this.

Well kept real ale. We visited on Sunday lunchtime so only roasts available. Generous portion of beef but ‘all the trimmings’ mildly disappointing. Yorkshire pudding had been awaiting my 2pm arrival since midday. Carrots only became plural when I cut the single slender baton in half. Red cabbage sweet enough to do duty as jam and a one inch cube of sausage brought little to the experience. £40 for two dinners and two pints.

We stopped off at the Anchor while we were cruising along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, they have a CRT mooring alongside the pub so it is quite handy to stop and enjoy a beer or some food. We had the Chicken Burger and a Fish and Chips, both were most enjoyable and went down well, together with a couple of glasses of the fine ale that is served. The pub is open till 1700 for food and is worth noting if a trip is planned along the canal. Well recommended.

Went on Mother’s Day which we expected it to be busy we arrived at 4.30 and most items weren’t available wouldn’t be an issue but with such a small menu especially on Mother’s Day wasn’t great. There was a choice of 4 starters 2 of which weren’t available and the 2 which were available our party couldn’t have. The main menu was a choice of a roast, cottage pie, or pie and mash they had run out of pork which wasn’t an issue at all but the trio of meats roast was awful the chicken you got was tiny wasn’t even a full Piece and for £18 was very disappointed the parsnips and carrot you got with the roast was burnt literally rock hard. The desert menu was ok choice of 4 but again the availability was shocking and what our party wanted wasn’t available. Really gone downhill since the last time we stayed a year ago. This time went for 2 nights. Special offers were sent via email from HQ, which no one seemed to know about. Service was lacking in offering condiments for the meals and the meals themselves appeared to be blasted pre frozen packages. Very little sign of a chefs input and to be honest most pub food nowadays is better so really disappointed. I doubt we'll be going back.

Lovely restaurant, very friendly staff but there it stops! We forgave the two poorly prepared coffees which had to be remade. However, we could not forgive the food that was served up. 'Homemade' Cheese and Onion pie with chips and beans (£14.50 each) - we were hoping for a treat at that price - sadly there was not much more than a tablespoon of beans in a tiny dish, a meagre portion of thin fries and a dish of what can only be described as thick cheese sauce 'mush' mixed with raw red onion, topped with a thin puff pastry lid (definitely NOT a pie) - yes we know there are overheads but that cannot have cost more than a few pounds at the very most to produce. Prices may have gone up but this was absolute miles away from value for money. I haven't made reference to the other meals in our party as I feel the above comments are damning enough. The bill for our party was close to £90 - we did offer constructive feedback to staff and it would have been fitting for some form of discount to be offered but none forthcoming. Experience was even more galling as our party had also spent over £350 in the store on top of lunch. Won't be returning to the restaurant or recommending.
