Lovely stay at the Alma inn! We loved the decor of the room.. very homely and lovely comfy bed! The food was excellent and service was great.

Hearty and tasty food, quiet and comfortable room with lovely countryside views, and excellent customer service.

Called in for lunch on the off chance of availability, they fit us in no problem, we had the lunchtime special menu which was gammon, salad and chips, my wife had small shepherds pie, beetroot and leeks, all was cooked fresh and to perfection, to follow sticky toffee pudding,sauce and ice cream and season crumble n custard, the guest beer was excellent, all in all a very good experience with staff very attentive. Thank you.

When we arrived it was very busy but we were still checked in and shown to our room pretty quickly. The room was lovely and so was our meal in the evening. Breakfast was also delicious. All of the staff were very polite and helpful, particularly Harry, the redheaded girl that served us at our table and the lady who got our breakfast and checked us out in the morning, whose names unfortunately I can't remember. 🤦🏻

I popped in for a late Sunday lunch last week and the food was amazing. Hands down, the best Yorkshire pudding I have ever had. Staff were super friendly and polite. Would recommend.

Didn't stop over so no room review - - - not been for a while but what a lovely meal we had and was made very welcome by all the staff and the Manager Arthur brilliant ambassador for the business will visit again!

What a place !!!!! I love this pub. We came for our wedding anniversary after getting married here 7 year ago and the food is even better ! Gorgeous staff ( Harry, Cath and Olga to mention a few ) could not have made us feel more welcome. Will absolute be back soon xx

We had a lovely stay here. The rooms were very comfortable. The staff were very pleasant and friendly. We ate both evenings in the restaurant and the food was excellent. However the booking process was not straight forward. It took me 4 phone calls to confirm the booking. They kept confirming by email that I had was booked one room only instead of two rooms. When it came to paying our bill at the end of our visit, it became very complicated and stressful. We had asked for our food and drinks to be allocated to our rooms. But they had mixed up our bill and it became very confusing as to who had had what. There were a number of receipts that didn't correspond to what we actually had. The package we had agreed on for the two nights stay also appeared very complicated when written down and did not correspond to what we had agreed. Eventually we ended having to calculate and write down everything we had eaten and drunk during our stay. This did take us some considerable time and proved stressful. I would definitely stay here again but feel the administration side of the business needs to be more consumer friendly.

Very clean excellent service,polite staff my daughters wedding reception was held here and it was fabulous the food was excellent highly recommend.

We booked a room for one night with a breakfast at the Alma Inn because we were invited to a family members 90th birthday party which was been held there. The staff on arrival were polite and friendly and welcoming, the room was very clean cosy and comfortable equipped with everything you would need for your stay. The breakfast was well presented, delicious and fairly priced and the service was 10 out 10. Alma Inn's location allows you to relax and unwind with bountiful vistas of the surrounding Yorkshire and Lancashire dales. Thank you to all the staff for your professionalism, and I would recommend a stay at Alma Inn to all and will be back for a longer stay in the future. Mr. T. Atkinson.

Whent to a wedding had 1 drink and run out said it was running the stock down come on asked for a gin that was on the menu sorry no running the stock down so on water all night don't recommend this place 😉

We visited with friends, we had two rooms in the Alma Inn both of which were really comfortable, extremely clean and well stocked. We had dinner on the evening of our arrival which was beautifully cooked and very enjoyable, and we had breakfast before we left, which again was perfect and really beautifully cooked. The staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful, we really loved our day at the Alma Inn and we are keen to find an excuse to come back! Highly recommend

Went here with my friend 1/9/2024 .What a lovely place, the staff were so lovely and helpful, especially Olga . The staff could not do enough for you. Our room was amazing , bed so big and so comfortable and everything was absolutely spotless. Went down for our evening meal, the food was gorgeous and nice portions too . Lovely atmosphere with the log fires burning too . In the morning went down for breakfast, I have to say it was the best breakfast I have ever had and my friend said the same. And the service was spot on , so helpfull, nothing is too much. We will definitely be back but this time for 2 nights.

Stayed on a Sunday night deal - room was amazing & we could also bring our dog. Lovely beer & both dinner & breakfast were great. Forgot to claim our free drink (special offer). Only slight downside no direct dog walks from the Inn without walking on the country road. Would defo return

Breakfast excellent plenty to choose from and great portions lady who served us unfortunately didn't catch her name but she was lovely providing great service, lovely pub hotel overlooking countryside but only 5 mins from Skipton Old Road will book in next time for a long weekend as well worth a visit

We were on Holiday this week , up from Dorset. We have eaten at the Alma on 5 occasions. The Sunday Roast was plentiful and delicious. All the other meals from the menu have also been superb . Great value for money and the Staff have been courteous and helpful on all our visits, a credit to the pub. A Great place to eat , with stunning views.

We enjoyed the meal with our family for my wife’s birthday, the food was lovely and a fantastic setting and a nice atmosphere. The only downside the service was extremely slow. When we asked where our food was after waiting quite a long time we were told that the chef was extremely busy, even though there were only our table and one other at that time in the restaurant.

We have just held my daughter's wedding reception here and the families stayed in the hotel. Everything was perfect and the staff were superb. Special shout out to Arthur for everything and Yvonne for the superb breakfast on the Friday. The rooms were lovely. Plenty of tea and coffee. The location is stunning. Cannot recommend it enough. Oh and the food is superb too!

Been eating at the Alma for a long time but just lately something has changed in the kitchen. Service has slacked off and you need to ask the staff if you can get served, might be short staffed from what it used to be. Food certainly not good at all , infact Grandson said it was "worse than School dinners" . Crumble desserts ordered which were OK but no room in dish to add the custard, you needed to eat some to make room for the custard? which was terrible.

We received a very warm welcome and were shown to our rooms quickly. The room was spacious with plenty of storage and a large bed, however one side was comfier than the other and the pillows were a bit hard. The bathroom was spacious with plenty of toiletries and nice towels and the shower was good. My only criticism would be that the room could have done with some tlc. There was a big crack in the wardrobe door and the paintwork could do with a lick of paint. The staff were all fab and nothing was too much trouble. We ate here too and personally I found the menu a bit limiting as I don’t eat fish, curry or anything with chilli in it, but what I did eat was nice, if a tad pricey. We had Sunday lunch which was pre booked and pre ordered but we still had to wait half an hour, and the food service was generally quite slow in the evenings. The breakfasts were good, but initially very slow despite preordering. That being said, overall it was very comfortable and we would stay here again

Breakfast is a bit pricy for what you get. No pastries, yoghurt, fruit, or museli. Not really continental.

We loved our stay at the Alma Inn. It's great value, good food, very clean and lovely staff. It rates very highly on our list of places we have stayed in. We will go back there again.

We booked a table for Saturday intending to have the fruits de mer and lobster as we both fancied it, upon booking via the website I was informed that this was not available on a Saturday. Next day I called them and asked if it would be possible seeing as that was one of the main reasons why we had booked. The woman who answered said she would contact the chef and ask. They then confirmed it would be okay. We arrived as arranged and were presented with an array of equipment for dismantling a lobster and crab, however when the food arrived the preparation had been done. The various items presented on a stack of plates on ice. Very nice. The problem was that everything was obviously cold, the prawns were fine as was the crab meat and the oysters. The mussels however were slimy and not pleasant and the lobster seemed lacking in flavour although neither of us had eaten lobster before so didn't know what it should be like. Overall it was ok but could be better

What's not to like about the Alma, you always get a warm welcome, attentive staff and amazing food. Beautiful setting. You just can't "beat it".

The singer was really good, and views are amazing enjoyed my dessert.

There are 10 letting rooms but we just popped in for a drink. Atmospheric building with tasteful and sympathetic extension. Feature fireplace but 2 odd table lamps and trailing wires just begging to be a hazard. A very good friend has booked a wedding here and I bet it will be lovely. Oh to be married with a stags head looking down on me.... it must have hit the wall at a heck of a speed!

Lovely short stay at this Inn. Gorgeous setting, clean and comfortable room. Friendly hosts. Shower was a little small, as was the bed, but I believe we did have the smallest room available. For our one night break it was just fine. If we were to return, would pick a bigger room and stay for longer. One night was not enough :-)

Have stayed at the Alma previously for a wedding back in 2009 so thought we would make a return trip. I have to say the whole experience was outstanding from Yvonne serving us breakfast to Arthur his wife plus all the staff….would certainly recommend.

Have been a few times and its always lovely food and good service. The last time we went was for Father's Day. It was a last minute booking and they were able to accommodate us. Had a roast lamb dinner which was a good portion and well cooked. Look forward to going again.

Fantastic place to enjoy a break in beautiful countryside and with loads to do within a short drive. Very comfortable room, clean and bright, good value and excellent breakfast. Highly recommended

Delicious meal supplemented with excellent service and a comfortable room for our overnight stay

A group of us decided to go. All the meals were of decent size apart from the gammon, for £18, a very small slice which was completely covered by the eggs, so small. You get more at the spoons for about £6. Also extremely salty. Let down by one meal.

What a wonderful spot for lunch. The views from the car park are amazing and even though I had grown up around here I had forgotten how beautiful it was. The food was excellent and I couldn't fault it.

We were attending an event at The Alma Inn and enquired if they had any rooms available. Only one room left, Room 9 - a Superior Room at £180.00 bed & breakfast. We thought what the heck why not! We’ll enjoy the event and indulge in what must be, at £180.00, a luxurious sumptuous room. We arrived as other guests were already gathering for the event so we checked in, settled the accommodation charge in full, dropped our bags in the room and went straight down to socialise. It was only at the end of the evening when we retired to the room that we had time to notice that it was far from luxurious. There was mould on one wall, the bed runner was filthy and the room smelled damp as if the windows hadn’t been opened for days. In the bathroom the window hinge was ill fitting and rusty, the window frame filthy….. we were so disappointed and aggrieved that we had been charged so much for the room. On the plus side, the evening food in the bar and at the event was good and the staff were excellent. Breakfast was also very good and the waitress was friendly, efficient and cheerful, just what is needed first thing in the morning 😊 The breakfast waitress was on her own (front of house) and also challenged with other departing guests who wanted split bills etc etc so we did not wait to mention our disappointment but dropped the key off and left.

The food was delivered within 15 mins food was amazing, beautiful scenery and setting. The service and staff were really friendly. Overall an amazing place to eat with your family.

We really loved this pub / restaurant! The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious and we were lucky enough to get a window table, with a view out over the hills. There are tables outside too, so it's a great place for a drink outside in the nicer weather! There is a bar snacks menu as well, to go with your drink in the sun!

Nice food, though a little on the expensive side.. Love the open fires.. Staff and serving could be better.. I had a very mild curry that nearly blew your socks off, my mouth was on fire, thankfully one of the staff saw me and quickly brought some water.. I asked them to taste the curry, they said it was definitely hot 🔥. It was taken back to the kitchen where the chef and other tried it, I could hear them saying, who made that.. and all agreed it wasn't a mild or even a mild curry.. I was offered another meal of my choice which was ok.

Absolutely wonderful time for my birthday..we stayed in room 9 which is a special place for us as we stayed in this room when we got married here 13 yrs ago! The room was decorated with ballon’s and banners for my birthday and the housekeeper Anna made a cake and a swan out of towels!❤️ The food was amazing and the staff… Alisa,Will,David and Mia..were attentive and are a credit to Arthur and his team.

Visited on Mothering Sunday. Greeted by lovely attentive staff, fires and candles lit, welcoming atmosphere. All had Sunday roasts, choice of 3 on the menu. Everyone enjoyed their food, highest quality and well presented.

We had a really nice meal. Great food and excellent service as always. Took mum for mother days treat. She loved it. Brilliant.

This place is great for cosy drinks, it had a lovely atmosphere. Will was working the bar, he was super friendly and made a great cocktail! He asked me what type of cocktail I normally go for and made me a Jungle Bird which was spot on- might just be my new favourite cocktail! Harry was lovely too, both very attentive and welcoming. Great experience, would recommend! Thanks guys!

We stayed here for two nights with our border collie. All I can say is that it was the best dog walking trip we have been on, from the minute we arrived to the minute we left everything was superb. The staff were so welcoming, friendly and helpful so thanks to Sharon, Yvonne and David (also the lady with the Polish name, Alwynia was it?). The food was amazing from breakfast through dinner so a massive well done to the kitchen staff, every course we had was spot on. One word of advice to the owners would be to get a bin installed for dog waste so we wouldn’t need to use the main bins. We will absolutely definitely be back, and soon

Just had the most amazing stay here. From the fabulous Courtney and her welcome, fantastic food, beautiful rooms to superb staff I can't rate this place anything other than my top spot for a weekend of walks and fab times.

Stayed here in early December. What a really lovely place! Views across the moors for miles. Cosy real fires. Lovely room to stay in. Good car parking. Close to lots of places to visit. Good real ale and fantastic food. The other winner has to be ALL of the staff. They were all really helpful and friendly. The lady doing breakfasts was great. On our first morning, there was a power cut which was nothing to do with the hotel. They did all they could to sort out some breakfast for us. We have already paid for other family to visit in January and they loved it too.

This is a lovely country pub and felt very cosy. The staff were very friendly, attentive and polite. Service was a little slow despite it not looking very busy but perhaps the kitchen wasn't well staffed. Lovely place but my problem was the food. I wouldn't go as far as to say it was poor, but it was very disappointing. I had a goan vegetable curry, the rice was well cooked had some coconut flavour but hadn't been cooked with salt. The vegetables were cooked well, not mushy and not raw but the 'gravy' of the curry wasn't much more than a very mildly spiced tomato soup. There was a lack of depth of flavour and it didn't resemble a curry at all, nothing like something you would get in Goa. The flat bread which came with it was pretty much cardboard. The portion was a food size and I think that part of the meal was good value for money. The dessert I had, the chocolate fondant was really not good. I substituted vanilla ice cream for salted caramel, this was tasty and I was pleased this request was accommodated. However, the fondant I think was probably cooked at too high a temperature. Whilst it was impressive they had cooked it to order, the edges were caught and there was just a tiny trickle of liquid filling which, rather than chocolate sauce was definitely raw cake batter. The pudding taste as though it was made with milk chocolate instead of dark, completely lacked flavour and had an odd texture (overcooked?!) There was a tiny amount of caramel sauce, the best thing about the dessert and there should have more of this please! So overall a pleasant experience but sadly food was distinctly lacking. Soft drinks are also very expensive. Since when was half a pint of cordial £2.45? 😑

We went for afternoon tea. It was amazing. Really tasty and plenty to eat. The service was fantastic every single one of the staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. All the food is fantastic we have eaten here before. If you're in the area call in you definitely wont be disappointed . Thank you to the staff for making it a lovely day. The log fire was lit just so cosy we didn't want to go home x

My daughter in-law rang to book a table for brunch for 12 people, she was told that we would have to pre-order, which wasn't a problem. On arrival it took about 15-20 minutes for our tea/coffees to arrive and when they did the coffee was luke warm. It then took a further 35 minutes for the breakfast to be served and there was a mix up with the eggs even though the waitress had been out to ask how everyone wanted their eggs. I had ordered avocado on sourdough bread with poached eggs and I have to say they were the worst poached eggs I have ever had, they were more like hard boiled eggs and I did leave one of them, the sourdough was that tough I had trouble cutting into it. The waitress who served us was lovely but appeared to be on her own which wasn't ideal as we were having to wait a long time for more tea & coffee. I feel that the food is definitely over priced for the quality & quantity and the 10% service charge on top of the already over priced food did finally tip me, so will definitely not be returning. Shame really as it is in such a beautiful location

(sorry) the staff were really friendly and chilled, and the food was great. The wind and rain meant we did not go for the planned walk local walk, but the beer / wine and ambience meant the time spent inside instead was perfect. Would defo recommend.

We had heard mixed reports about this restaurant. Sadly we have to agree with the disappointed customers. Small portions of bland food was our experience. The staff were lovely but we won't eat there again.

The staff were exceptionally nice and friendly,Patient and above all always had smiles on their faces. 😁 It was expensive although for all of the above id say well worth the day out there meeting the family, dining out, and catching up with your loved ones. We arrived to a very warm welcome from the bar staff they asked us if it was a special occasion to which we replied it was our birthdays they then upgraded us to a superior room which was absolutely beautiful we came down for our evening meal the menu was very varied we chose the steak which was cooked to perfection with all the trimmings it was totally delicious compliments to your chef we had a wonderful night’s sleep the bed was huge soft pillows and warm onto our breakfast without sounding odd !! It was the best breakfast we have ever had it was hot plentiful and served to perfection we didn’t want it to end even our dog milo got a sausage by the lovely lady who served us she was smiley and chatty all in all probably one of the best establishment we have ever been to and it’s down to the hard working staff you are a credit to the Alma Inn thanks we will return

Just enjoyed a lovely leisurely lunch here. It is beautifully decorated and the surroundings are gorgeous. The food was very nice with a good assortment of food on the menu. We will be coming back at some point to stay the night, looking forward to it already!

What a find! Warm, friendly service throughout, food was superb, and the accommodation and decor were lovely. Great rural spot with commanding views, but within very easy reach of local amenities and lots of nearby attractions. I'll be returning in warmer weather to try out the walks from the doorstep, but it was very picturesque in the snow.
