Cross Gaits Inn in Pendle

Visited in late October on a lovely sunny day which really painted this pubs beautiful location in a perfect light. We are from the Midlands visiting family who are local and we all received a lovely warm welcome. The pub is lovingly decorated with great views over the local countryside. The staff were attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu options. The food itself was plentiful,tasty and well presented. Additional top marks to the owner who went the extra mile to look after a member of our party who unfortunately was taken suddenly unwell, thank you. We will definitely visit again when back in the area.

My first visit with daughter and granddaughter for lunch on a horrible wet miserable day. The first impression was great from Emma who welcomed us and pointed to our table opposite the bar. Emma was s such a pleasant and cheerful person. Very professional and a breath of fresh air with an obvious love of her job and respect for her bosses. The pub has about three rooms for dining our room had four tables and all occupied. I ordered lamb roll from the light bites menu daughter chicken and bacon toasted sandwich. We ordered chicken goujons for our little one. My word the portions were massive and the food was lovely really lovely! Our desserts were equally gorgeous we had no complaints at all about the food or service. I look forward to going again when I visit my daughter. Just one comment it would have been top stars if the fire was lit.

Venue ok . Greeted nicely but from then on rushed . Barely sat down and wanted drinks order . Food order we had to ask them to come back as we had not decided so quickly . Food was good choice and good . Once dessert dishes removed we were asked if we wanted anymore drinks , then when declined they said last orders in ten minutes . It was only ten o clock ! Ten minutes passed and we felt very uncomfortable as all staff were waiting by the bar for us and another table to leave . They definately wanted to leave rather than wait to see if an drinkers called in . Won’t be returning and neither will the other couples we were with .

I visited here today after being directed way off track by sat nav after the M6 was closed on my way to Scotland. In the end a 5.5 hour journey took 10.5! I was so happy to come across this pub/restaurant an hour into the diversion and nipped in to ask to use the facilities. Emma immediately picked up on my stress, not only let me use the loo, but let me heat food for my toddler, give them lunch and a run about. She made sure we were all set and no money passed hands! Also thanks to the brewing company - sorry I didn’t even think to get the name - who were delivering at the time, as thanks to those two guys, we got onto the right road and home. I will come back here one day. In the meantime, a big thank you!!

Disappointing. Since it changed hands for the second time in 4 years it was much improved and we had some good meals. However, at our recent visit the food was indifferent. Large fish and chips was what seemed like frozen fish with eight chips. Partners fish dish was cold and had to be sent back. Staff, which were all new, seemed unhappy and disinterested.

Took two of the grandchildren for their 19th birthday, excellent choice of beer, very pleasant staff, nice atmosphere and decoration, but most importantly, we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Highly recommended. If I was being pedantic, a few of the potholes on the road into the car park could do with attention!!

First class in every way … WARNING: don’t have any breakfast if you’re having the roast dinner :-D!! Perfectly cooked and served on a hot plate with lovely fresh veg. Drinks reasonably priced and friendly staff - what more could you ask. Just sad I didn’t have room for dessert!!

What a find. The food, welcome and ambiance were spot on. Couldn't fault anything. I had the mushrooms, paella and the rhubarb and pear fool. Ever mouthful was delicious. Will be going again. Booking is a must.

Wife and I recently visited for lunch. Super selection of ales and good quality food. Staff warm and welcoming and the venue has a pleasant cosiness about it. Excellent choice of Gluten free meals too; will definitely return.

The location, food, service were superb, there will be many people wanting to and enoy the whole experience, and I would say that many will go time and again

Popped in for a quick bite to lunch and ended up having one of the nicest burgers I have ever had. Everyone else’s food was amazing too. Fresh, quick and delicious.

Having found this place while visiting the area we called in for some food. The service was 100% the staff were so helpful especially a young woman called Emma she advised us on food which I must say was unbelievable the portions was amazing. Would recommend this lovely pub 100%. Thanks for the experience.

We visited in the evening as a three generation family group of 9 . The food was excellent with something to suit everybody and the service was friendly and attentive. Just to address some previous reviews the food did take a little time to arrive but it was worth waiting for well cooked and quite original food - from pheasant to pizza it was all delicious. Would recommend.

Excellent food and friendly staff. We visited on Tuesday evening for an early dinner with our dog and it was great. It was highly recommended in the visitors book at our cottage and it didn’t disappoint. We will return next time we are in the area

A group of 7 of us visited tonight whilst on holiday in the area. Absolutely outstanding food and excellent service. The team are so friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend and would definitely visit again if we are ever back in the area in the future.

Delicious black pudding scotch starter is worth 5 stars on its own, one of the best dishes I have eaten in any restaurant. The rest of the meal was also top notch. Highly recommended.

Went for a meal in the Garden, which is a great location. It was a busy Friday and service was seriously stretched. The food really wasn't great and the beer was hit and miss. A stodgy, dry sandwich and some pretty disastrous fish and chips. Not a place I would go back to.

A lovely Sunday afternoon with the family, including the dog!We had a selection of starters and mains plus a couple of desserts. Each dish was fantastic, not to mention generous in its proportions!The salt and pepper chicken starter was particularly tasty (if not a little spicy!) and the lamb Wellington fantastic. The chocolate fondant was also something to behold!We’ll certainly be heading back.

Visited at lunchtime to celebrate our anniversary. A warm friendly greeting and a very pleasant atmosphere. We ordered from the light bite menu, wow, we were not disappointed. Husband had haddock and chips, beautifully presented and he said it was the best he's had in ages. I ordered FLT ( not BLT ) haddock not bacon. DELICIOUS, and such a good portion, didnt think I'd finish (but I did)..The sweets were equally good. The whole experience was so good we booked a table for four next week.

Called in today for lunch. We had booked a table for 1.30 and on arrival were offered a table indoor or out, we chose out as it was such a beautiful day. The service from our waitress Nick and the young lad behind the bar was second to none. We did have a little wait for our food but we don't mind this as we know it is being freshly prepared. I had two starters, cheese croquettes and salt and pepper chicken bites. My partner had the gaits ploughmans. Absolutely wonderful, hot, fresh and so tasty. My only gripe was there was no chocolate fondant, disappointed as I had been thinking of this all day as it was recommended by a friend. Apparently it just flies off the menu. Will check if it is on the next time we visit - which we certainly will do. Thanks to all.

Turned up 1pm and asked a member of staff about eating outside (verified). She directed me to the bar where I was to buy drinks initially. Upon receiving the drinks I asked for the menu only to be told I couldn’t eat unless I’d booked. I explained that the premise for ordering drinks was to eat. I told them that it was ridiculous whereupon the idiot man behind the bar had a diva strop about having ‘the foresight to book’. It was 1pm, there were acres of empty tables. A month previously we’d dined outside at a busier time WITHOUT booking. The lead waitress who I initially spoke to went on the defensive to obscure her error. I’ve been visiting here for years but won’t again until these muppets are gone. They’re in the wrong job as far as I’m concerned, held afloat by a good chef.

Having eaten here a few times recently and enjoyed it the last experience was very disappointing. We booked a table well in advance for 7.30 pm. On arriving we were given menus and told two of the main courses were no longer available. After ordering drinks we were told they wouldn’t be taking food order for a while. Some 20 plus minutes later they came to take order. This then became difficult as as we tried to order we kept being told what we wanted was no longer available. 5 in total were no longer available. The final compromise choices when served were very average. Burgers where the bun was toasted( presumably to give it a second life! Meat chewy . All in all a poor experience.

We’ve always liked this place and it’s now even better after the refurbishment. Called in for a quick beer this afternoon on our way over from East Yorkshire and the light bite menu looked so tempting that we decided to stay and eat. I had falafel gyro and my husband had a chicken and bacon ciabatta. We were both stuffed. The food was really well presented and obviously home made. Our dog was made welcome too. Well done Adam and team.

Lunch. Thursday 19 aug first time visit table booked for 1.00 pm took drink order after 5 min but it took 20/25 min to order food. Ploughman’s lunch my wife ordered Asian beef. Shortly after that 2 ladies sat on the next table, ordered (fish and chips) their meal arrived 15 min later after 30 min ours had still not arrived, caught the server said they had a big party in. And fish and chips were a quick turn over and that ours was being plated up, ploughman’s lunch takes 5 min altogether we waited 50 min. Also we were never asked if we wanted desserts or coffee,On the plus side the food was fantastic ,But the service was not,they did deduct our drinks order,as first time visit would we go back?,

We had booked for 6.30pm and we arrived a little late but were greeted with smiling faces and seated straight away. Our drinks order was taken, and we were left to decide what we wanted to order. I ordered the chicken bites to start, and my husband ordered the garlic mushrooms. The menu stated that all the meals were prepped and cooked from fresh, so we weren't expecting the food to arrive within 5 mins of ordering. The starters were delicious, and you could tell that it wasn't microwaved, it was fresh and piping hot and the portions were also very generous. We both ordered the Sunday lunch which again we weren't expecting it to be served 5 mins after our starters (plus I was actually quite full from the starter) but it arrived fairly quickly and we were both impressed with what was served. The roast potatoes were crispy and piping hot, the stuffing was meat stuffing, the carrots and parsnips were al dente and the Yorkshire pudding was massive! I had the roast ham which was cut thick and there was plenty of, my husband had Lamb and Beef which he said were cooked to perfection, the gravy was fresh and not from a packet. The nice touch was we were asked what sauces we wanted with our meal before it came out so we weren't hanging round for them to come while our meal was going cold....nice touch!! We ended up sharing a dessert as I didn't have room, but we shared the chocolate fondant which was just wow! It was more than big enough for the two of us and again made from fresh. Our overall experience of the Cross Gaits was second to none. The food was simply gorgeous, fresh, hot, and decent portion sizes. The staff were courteous, attentive, and looked extremely smart in their shirts and ties and to top it off this old pub is stunningly beautiful, the owners have kept a lot of its original features, whilst the décor is modern which gives a lovely atmosphere. Well done Cross Gaits, amazing food, great atmosphere! We will be back!!!

The food, service and hospitality here is top class.Working in hospitality myself, I know just how hard the current situation is...the whole industry and it's staff are under huge, unprecedented strain and I for one know how hard these guys work. Yes, we had to wait a few minutes longer for food to be served, but who cares, the pub was packed and we were looked after by the front of house staff impeccably. It was certainly worth waiting an extra few minutes for for...Wow...the food was just stunning...the presentation, the taste, the flavours that just kept giving...you can certainly tell how much dedication, love and thought goes into these dishes and how hard the kitchen staff work to pull such an amazing work of art off. Keep up the amazingly good work guys...we will most definitely be back

Is the food good in this place? We couldn't say - because we didn't get any!Gordon Ramsay says that in any restaurant, you should get the food in front of you within twenty minutes of sitting down. Last night, we waited 35 minutes before our order was even taken and the 'promise' of another thirty minute wait before we saw any food at all - it was certainly going to take a lot longer than that judging by the time taken for some of those sat around us to receive their food and the comments they made. Clearly what they are doing is taking more bookings than they have the staff to cater for. They really need to manage better than this rather than send away disgruntled customers who then have to go in search of somewhere else to eat at very short notice. Very disappointing.

Chefs and the whole team are top notch! We had two lunches here, including a fabulous Sunday roast - memorable, Great welcome and a very smartly furnished restaurant. Wine great too! Don't miss it

called in for a meal got served with drinks straight away and took our order the place was not very busy, we waited 45minutes and spoke to the waiter who said it was being plated up the couple on the next table had ordered theirs got served and finished, we waited another 15 minutes then spoke to the landlord who rudely said there is another pub down the road if you don't like it so we left. disgusting way to treat customers.

Called in yesterday for lunch and managed to get a table, would recommend booking as was soon packed. Saw someone said they had to wait an hour for food. We waited 25 minutes but all cooked fresh so worth it. Had the Asian crispy beef salad and my friend the hot beef baguette and have to save both were amazing. The staff are so helpful. Our 2and visit and definitely not the last.

Visited this evening, after having had a pretty good meal outdoors in late May. We had whitebait and black pudding scotch egg to start - extremely good. We both then chose fish, lemon sole with shrimps and cod with mussel veloute, both excellent. This chef knows how to cook fish and how to season food, hope you keep hold of him.Very attentive service by a lovely young and friendly team.I can see this becoming a regular haunt for us as we are within walking distance.

Just had lunch here at Cross Gaits.Had to wait an hour for our food to arrive!!Such a shame as food was great but the wait farrrrr tooooo long Staff so polite but need to tell customers about potential long wait so we can at least make the decision to go elsewhere if we wish.Other tables also waiting longer than us & getting very frustrated

Despite arriving early due to a downpour of rain cutting our walk short we got a warm welcome and were shown to a nice table in a room just off the bar. Our drinks order came quickly and once we'd chosen from the menu we weren't disappointed. Two of us had fish and chips, one had gnocchi and one of us had the Sunday roast. We all enjoyed our meals - my fish and chips were really delicious, and my sister who's a big fan of a Sunday roast was very happy with her lunch.

A wonderful place for Sunday Lunch. It was the nicest and tastiest food we have had in a long time. We had the 3 meats roast. All cooked to perfection. Amazing roast potatoes and vegetables. Very good portions. The gravy was lovely too. We can't recommend this place enough. We were visiting the area for a weekend and will definitely return here if we are in the area. Good service, excellent for and efficient staff.

Lovely friendly greeting and the food is amazing, Had the sunday lunch and everything was fresh and homemade, only problem was we had no room for puddings as the portions are large.. We will be back very soon. Thankyou for a great service

Luke Mann, he has made our night. Me, my partner and friend has been to the cross gaits this afternoon and what an impeccable bloke he has been. He’s absolutely made our night. The service he as given towards us has been above and beyond. Everything we asked was there within an instance. Luke couldn’t do anything more for us. Hats off to the lad!

The Cross Gaits has various vegan options (a slightly limited menu when I visited, as they had building works going on & storage was a problem). However a new revamped menu is launching in July, so I will be going back to try it, as we had such a great time.Lovely setting with huge outdoor space and gardens to sit when the weather is warm and inside the pub is modern but cosy. We had tofu bites, banana blossom fish n chips and wild mushroom & squash gnocchi. The food was scrumptious and good sized portions too, we left not a morsel. They also label which drinks/wines are vegan which is a huge bonus, as so many places offer vegan options and never think about the drinks. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful especially Adam who I presume is the landlord. I am so glad I found The Cross Gaits and will be revisiting as soon as possible. Great to find somewhere offering satisfying vegan options, not just some token gesture like salad.

SMASHING all round :) my husband and I were there last night for dinner and were instantly greeted by a really friendly waitress who happened to be passing us in the car park and took us in with a smile. We had been given an unusual seat but they quickly moved us to a more comfortable table in the central restaurant area. We had the pan fried duck and the lamb rump for main, then a chocolate dessert which were SO BLOOMING GOOD and at such a reasonable price. The place had a really lovely warm atmosphere and the staff couldn’t have been more attentive. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND and totally appreciate their effort. Thank you Cross Gaits :) one of our highlights of visiting Trawden on our way back to Scotland.

Visited for lunch today...really good set up, plenty of tables all well spaced out. Service was spot on, Emma was extremely friendly and helpful. We had the beetroot and gin salmon and the chilli chicken for starters followed by the steak ciabatta and the lamb burger for mains..everything was gorgeous, hot and a very decent sized portion. Highly recommended, we will return very soon.

We visited today for the first time in ages due to lockdowns etc, the food and service has always been excellent and today was certainly no exception!The salt and pepper chicken bites were crispy and zingy, the Lancashire cheese soufflé was outstanding and I would heavily recommend! The chicken gyros was delightful and the flatbread evidently homemade. The selection of drinks was great and lovely to have the fruit tea served in a heavyweight teapot so it stayed warm throughout my meal whilst outside on a relatively cool day. The service was friendly and prompt. We have always enjoyed our visits here but today I feel was our best ever! Thankyou so much! I can’t wait til we can come back.

Ordered two roast dinners to be delivered. Delivered on time.Food was like warm. All vegetables undercooked, even the roasts which was disappointing. Cauliflower cheese was burnt scrapings from the bottom of a dish! Meat tough. I thought maybe they were having a bad day so I contacted them and they said their chef had left which left them in the lurch, apologized and offered a complimentary Sunday lunch the week after.The week after they delivered once again on time. Food was no different, no better still undercooked vegetables and burnt cauliflower cheese. Meat very tough (chicken) totally overcooked. I felt disappointed because this is where they could if redeemed themselves. I have not ordered any further food since.Maybe eating in the restaurant would be better food, because I'd just keep sending it back if it wasn't.

What an amazing post lockdown dining experience. Service, food and value for money unbeatable! Melt in the mouth shortcrust pastry encased the succulent beef & ale filling.Looking forward to our next taste sensation.Well done for the adherence to covid guidelines without detracting from customer experienc.

We had a family meal for Mother’s Day and wanted to try somewhere localThe ordering process couldn’t have been easier! We got everything we ordered and despite not being separated for a safe drop off, we sorted that and got it all home safely.The food was beautiful, there was no complaints from any of us and that was 6 separate meals The salt and pepper chicken bite starter was perhaps some of the best we have had locally, the lamb shank just fell off the bone and the sticky toffee pudding went down a storm!We shall be back for a delivery or meal soon!!

Our first visit here and it certainly won't be the last. Really cosy with the open fire. Service was attentive without it being intrusive. Superb food and would highly recommend.

Fab food. Great waiting staff. Tables not over booked so still allowed for social distancing. staff polite but clear to customers so they understood requirement for social distancing. Only second time for us eating out since covid and unlike our first horrific experience in dog n gun glusburn experience 3 weeks ago, this was a calm, warm welcome by all with best food we had eaten in a pub ever so was actually a relaxed opportunity to eat out and i would recommend this pub to anyone who wants to eat good food with staff who make you feel like you matter and you know your safety is equally as important as the takings.. they sure have cracked it! Can't recommend it highly enough..

It was the 1st time we have visited here in a few years and what a pleasant surprise! Loved the decor, ambience & there were excellent, clear covid measures. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we entered to the moment we left. Service was spot on with our waiter efficient, chatty but not intrusive, it was easy to gain his attention when we wanted more drinks. The food was fabulous! All three courses beautifully presented and tasted as good as they looked. We will definitely recommend and return!

We came here for a meal with the family it was our first visit and we will definitely be back. The food was lovely and well presented. Holidaying up the road for the week, we have eaten here twice. Real ales and lovely food, not for those with small appetites!! the fish was almost too big for the plate. Everything piping hot and we'll presented. The staff are really friendly and the pub is beautifully decorated and welcoming. Would definitely return if we visited the area again.

We came across the Cross Gaits by accident on the way to Skipton. The place looked so lovely we stopped to have a drink. We had a really friendly welcome, and I have to totally disagree with a review I have just seen about the measures in place for COVID 19. We were asked for our contact details for tracing, there was a one way system, drinks were brought to the table, and the pub was immaculate!!! I would say it has been probably one of the most thorough places we have visited during this pandemic!We liked the place so much we decided to order food and was not disappointed homemade chips were amazing food presented lovely fresh and tasty.I would most definitely recommend this place, the owners have worked really hard and personally we could not fault it! It was a really nice start to our weekend away!

Just enjoyed a superb Sunday roast after a delicious starter at the Cross Gates. This place has prepared well for post lockdown opening....well done on spending what must have been an anxious closure period investing in your indoor and outdoor areas. We're visiting Blacko for the weekend to celebrate my husband's birthday & our wedding anniversary and it is our first time in the cross gaits and wow - the food here is outstanding, the pub and staff have excellent Covid measures in place, they were also friendly, attentive and could do enough to help us enjoy our trip here and the food is absolutely gorgeous, we had mains on pie of the day and fish & chips and puddings of brownie & sticky toffee pudding, incredible food for a very reasonable price - I'm just sorry we don't live closer or we would be back every week.

Visited The Cross Gaits twice in the last couple of weeks & both were pleasant experiences!They have expanded the amount of outdoor seating & a one way system inside, everything was served to our table.The service was friendly & efficient & all our party thoroughly enjoyed all their food.Get there early as both times things we might’ve chosen were already sold out. We will be back soon .

The food was good and the service regarding this was excellent.My gripe is with how as a family we was treated by managers when two very rude customers started complaining about their food and then about the noise from our children's ipads which we gladly turned down tho they didn't have them loud to start with. Then I found out after I came back from taking our children to the toilet my wife informed me that she had been asked to turn them down once again by the management if my children had been running round the pub making loads of noise then I could understand but they were sat at the table causing no problems and that was 3 children twins at 5yrs old and a 20 month old toddler. It was only when the rude couple had gone did the management come over and apologise for the fuss but at this point me and my wife had decided we will not eat here again my wife has a son with additional needs and I am glad he was not with us on this occasion it is a shame as the previous managers were very friendly and family focused and we ate here many times and they had a good understanding especially when we had my step son with us with his needs

A really good effort by Adam, Pete and the team. The pub has had a nice refurb, the food and beer are lovely, and they’re still managing to make it all friendly and hospitable whilst being on top of the challenges of Covid. It’s also nice to have the girls back working at the bar. All good.

We booked for a post lockdown meal on Friday tea time as we’ve missed the food (although we had a Sunday roast delivery during lockdown). We were also looking forward to seeing the refurbishment. We were not disappointed with either the meal or the new fresher decor. My husband had ham, eggs and chips and I had a ‘small’ pie and chips, it was far from small and I only just managed to finish it. We had pavlova and a cheeseboard to finish. We really enjoyed ourselves the food was fab and we felt very safe. Hopefully back soon.

Having had to close because of Covid The Cross Gaits re-opened on the 4th July and it has been completely refurbished inside and out. The pub atmosphere was great and the food was excellent. The pub is warm, welcoming and well worth a visit. We will definately be back.

Ordered a takeaway during lockdown and were really happy. Portions were really generous which has not been our experience everywhere. Pie of the week was delicious and everything else was clearly freshly cooked and homemade. Obviously, it’s not quite as good as it being served on the plate in the pub - there is an element of things getting slightly soggy in the polystyrene trays on the way home! - but would definitely recommend.

Read some reviews and decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed, the food was lovely, fresh home cooked food and the staff were excellent. Couldn’t fault anything....will definitely go back!,

Absolutely fantastic first experience here. Staff were so warm and welcoming and the customers and regulars also. Food was great. And i also took my baby chihuahua with me as she hates being home alone and they were great with her. Will defo be back again

We got a little lost on our way back home and stumbled upon this wonderful little pub. The clientele were most friendly and helpful. There was a good choice of drinks and the food was well cooked and very tasty. A most relaxing meal sat in front of a homely open fire. Will certainly visit again.

This is a lovely pub, and the service and food are excellent. Staff are very friendly. Would advice that if going mid week for lunch, arrive around 12 to 12.30 ish as it soon fills up . Also think it probably best to book for weekend meals. Great choice of food to suit everyone.

We arrived at 4pm for a sunday lunch but we had to wait 20 mins due to being fully booked so I will definitely ring a book a table in the future because the food was amazing and really well priced. Would definitely recommend and we will be back very soon.

Really can't fault this place every dish our party had was delicious. Staff very friendly and efficient.Draught beers were excellent.If you are looking for a 'posh'pub in shades of mushroom with nice leather chairs go somewhere else...but the food wont be as good as it is here.

Newly reopened and offering a great range of food and also a lunchtime specials list. Great food and great service should be revisited, you will notbe disapointed. Great location in the countryside just a mile or so from Barrowford

Stopped here for a few drinks,nothing to eat. We were able to sit outside,a good car parking area. In the corner small area for children to play. Visited the ladies,one of the loo's was out of order. Staff very friendly and helpful.

I do go on about this place, but it is so good. Unfortunately don’t live close enough to visit more often but do take a detour to visit if I can. Ales are always varied and superbly kept and the Sunday lunches are great quality, non of this mass produced stuff! Be back soon.

We went here for a Sunday dinner and was both I’ll afterwards, I think the food was too greasy and not what we are used to.

Just got back from having an excellent meal.... booked for a table of 3 but we arrived with 5 of us and without hesitation we were accommodated. We ordered a variety of food from burgers to salads all were delicious and we ended fabulous desserts and the service is fantastic.If you want good value proper pub food ( not quick boil in the bag microwave rubbish) then this is where you’ll find it.we will definitely be returning.

Great country pub with real fires, real ales, & nice folks. Not eaten here in a good few months but remembered it as being much better than the couple of starters we shared. The menu seemed a lot less interesting and the meals we saw going out seemed much more standard. We just had two starters, both disappointing for very different reasons - the black pudding & bacon stack was way too big & heavy for a starter and with so much black pudding it meant it was very claggy, and in contrast the nachos came with too little cheese and a silly side dish holding a tiny amount of salsa, guacamole, & sour cream.

Just passing through.Proper country pub The menu was explained to us by very pleasant and friendly lady. A glass of lager and a pint of excellent cask beer to start. Meals: I had the gammon with egg and slice of fresh pineapple, not canned. My wife had sandwich with great chips. Both meals feshly made.How much ? Less than thirty pounds. Not local but will return if wife is spending money at Boundary Mill.

Went for something to eat after buying a 2BR voucher. Booked in for Friday night and enjoyed the 2 grills and a bottle of wine for £25 Friday night offer. We had a nice little table by the fire, a quaint locals pub. It seemed quite busy with people coming and going. The food was home cooked, pub food, tasty and enjoyable, ideal for a week time tea. Would visit again.

Decided to visit after seeing the good deal..2 meals for a tenner. Meals on the deal were very good. We ordered extras too. Also a kid's meal for a very fussy eater (he loved it)..We loved that we could be in a side room. don't ever change this. I love traditional pubs! We will be back.

Went for food and drinks yesterday all I can say is FANTASTIC!! We had mushrooms and a black pudding starter then steak sandwich and a cheese and bacon burger all excellently cooked, prepared and served. We will be definetly be returning

Definitely mentioned before this is a little hidden gem, Sunday lunches are great quality and priced very reasonably. Service is efficient and friendly, great ales on too. Proper pub. Keep up the good work.

Visited as a family of 8, we were put in the side room with a table for 4 and a small copper table that was not ideal at all. It made the whole experience uncomfortable as we were almost sat in the knees of the next table and right in front of the fire.

I called in for a drink whilst out on a walk on a gloomy January Sunday afternoon. The pub is warm and welcoming, proper fires lit in each room. Several decent real ales plus 4 proper ciders and a good range of gins. I didn't eat only because I was cooking for the family when I got home, but the food that was coming out looked excellent. I was drooling at the Sunday roast. So, to be honest, I had some chips, which were skin-on and delicious. The staff are pleasant, and the young couple who run the place are excellent. They even make kids welcome, but not in some godawful Wacky Warehouse way. I wholeheartedly recommend you come here if you like proper pubs.

We booked in at the Cross Gaits on a Sunday evening and when we arrived were made to feel very welcome and they had reserved us a table by the fire. We ordered the rump steak and the smothered chicken and neither dish disappointed. Service was excellent and staff friendly. Portions were of a good size and chips were fantastic! Steak and chicken were both delicious. We ordered desserts as there was a great choice and were not disappointed, they were both brilliant. We will return!
