Pendle Inn has a lovely cosy pub feel and the beer was wonderful. Staff were very friendly and helpful but it seemed short staffed. Well I don’t know what has happened to this place, it used to be so lovely and all home cooked.. tonight was a disaster, everything we ordered they had run out of, including chips, we were offered alternatives of whatever they had left, waited an hour for our food then we got it the fries were frozen fries which were cold and hard, the chicken burger was over cooked and chewy, when asked if everything was ok, they said they only had one microwave so food being delayed, obviously then all warmed up and you could tell it was, we have been coming here many years but sadly we won’t be returning for food again, it was awful from start to finish

Fabulous country inn with excellent accommodation, good food & excellent service. We stayed in one of the small modern annexe cottages at the back of the car park (parking is free for guests) which has excellent facilities, warm and cosy, very comfortable bed and has a kettle, fridge and microwave if you want to bring food. There are some negative reviews on Trip Advisor on the food at this pub but we thought it was high quality, good menu and great service. We needed gluten freefood for one of us and there were choices of both GF and vege food. The pub is friendly, cosy , and has a distinctly countryside/ hiking / dog walking vibe . It is centrally positioned in the village of Barley, just a Mile walk to Newchurch-in-Pendle. There's another excellent pun a few yards away too on this charming village. We also recommend the Kabin , in the park area opposite, which does brilliant breakfasts including vegetarian and GF options , at a great price. We'll be back.

They stop serving food at about 7pm, so make sure you get there on time! My friend told me that they host amazing Halloween parties and fancy dress etc; there's also a big screen for sports, and I think they have live music. Used to enjoy dining out in this little family pub. Love the atmosphere and the location with lovely scenery & a children’s park across the road. Our recent visit was a little disappointing, the food standards have dropped. We ordered some starters & mains off the menu and when the nachos arrived, the whole thing was stuck to the bowl which wasn’t edible & we had to send it back. I ordered trio of sausages & mash with gravy, the mash was lumpy, I paid around £15 or £16 for that dish & really wasn’t expecting to get lumpy mash but we felt bad when we sent the nachos back and didn’t want to make a scene as it was quite busy so I had to put up with the lumps. Not ideal when the prices are quite steep!!! However the staff were friendly and worked hard. Doubt we’ll be dining here again!!

They did apologise for the wait but if you cant get the food out in a timely manner then dont book that many people in. Its a shame because the pendle pie was delicious. My mums roast dinner could have been better, she said the meat was tough and the veg was a little too al dente for our liking. When the bill came i was also a little surprised that 2 gin and tonics had cost me £20! I should have been asked if I wanted Hendricks surely? I very much doubt we will visit again.

My husband and I decided to do a hike for our wedding anniversary and it was super lovely until we visited this establishment. I work in a pub so I know customer service skills are normally a priority. Upon entry the girl at the bar just seemed miserable! Not really an issue. So we ordered food to be precise we had a ham and cheese ciabatta and salt and pepper loaded fries. With 2 coffees. The food came quite quick and the girl who served us was really lovely too. I didn't catch her name but she had braces and dark hair. (Sorry for the bad description) but she was great. We ate our food which was nice so I would recommend the food. But after eating we still had no coffees! I asked a girl in the restaurant bit (we was sat outside) she was quite rude and just said I'm.sure they will be making them now and she would check. So I went back outside another 20 mins passed and I asked again the same girl, I felt she was quite rude and abrupt but hey ho. Another 5 mins passed and I thought I'd ask at the bar. Well this is where my experience was really poor! Hence this review hence only 2 stars! The blonde lady not the original one who served us shouted at me across the bar infront of numerous people saying you are not a priority. Someone has just collapsed outside. Fair enough I don't think I'm a priority but after waiting 45mins for a coffee in that time finishing all my food and watching others that have arrived after us get there's I believe me asking In a polite manner certainly did not warrant her response! Being shouted at is disgusting. I genuinely believe that girl in particular and the other girl in the chequed shirt in the restaurant really let this place down. I certainly won't return and deffo wouldn't recommend with staff like that. It wasn't just 1 either it was more then 50% of the staff!

Booked an evening meal for our family at the Pendle Inn. Arrived and appeared to have been stuck in a corner next to the conservatory doors…. The staff kept leaving the doors open and the freezing cold air coming from the conservatory was horrible. The waitress (in charge whilst owner away) admitted she had no idea how to turn the heating on!! I ordered the lamb as a main and was presented with an overcooked lamb shank that was made up of mostly fat and gristle…. The night was then punctuated by the strong body odour of one of the waiters which made things even less appetising. It just felt that the staff were taking it easy as the boss was away. Pleasant stay, local community were very friendly and instead of a normal hotel room I was given a lovely little cottage to stay in. Would definitely recommend and plan on visiting again.

Loved our couple of visits here whilst staying in the village. All the Team deliver a fantastic service with a particular mention for Sam who is an absolute natural behind the bar and I seriously hope he gets to run his own pub one day!...

Had an early evening meal. Food was lovely, plenty of it. Staff were very nice and helpful. Bar was decorated with some great Halloween decorations which gave it a real 'witchy' feel. Really enjoyed our evening here.

After reading reviews we thought we would have breakfast here. The tea was served straight away with a 20 minute wait for the cooked deluxe breakfast. It was greasy, all piled onto a small plate and items of a poor and cheap quality. Took me back to the cheap London "Greasy Spoons" of the 70s. The Cabin not dog friendly, was very cramped inside and with the entrance door left constantly open it was also very cold inside. Not an enjoyable experience and expensive for what it was...... which was terrible. Our advice,...... go to the Barley Mow Pub a 2 minute walk away

Great real ale pub full of character, nice staff and good value. Do pizza and burgers during the weekend.' Also live bands during the summer months.
