Family of 15 had a fabulous lunch here at short notice. The cafe is small, quaint and the food and service was excellent. Our large family with a varied age range all ate and drank what we wanted, nothing was too much trouble and the cost was very reasonable. Thank you for a lovely time.

Absolutely beautiful food in this small cafe just out of the main shopping area but only by an extra minute. Very pretty from the outside witth a table there for better days. Just five or so tables inside the french inspired cafe, so cosy. We came here twice on our week in the area, the food is so good. Beautiful salad with pomegranate jewels in the mix, the cheese & onion quiche was the best I’ve ever had, I had to have it on the second visit too. The spicy chicken, lamb kofta & potato curry platter was amazing too, everything so good. We took cake home with us for later, the lemon cake was excellent. Very friendly service. Just to note this is a cash only café. Really worth seeking out.

Excellent friendly little cafe tucked away in a corner of Barnoldswick town centre. Enjoyed the coffee and cake whilst sat outside watching the world go by in the sun. Great for a bite to eat also.

A genuine friendly welcome with freshly prepared sandwiches, soup and cakes. Vegetarian options also. Although it was a dreary day the cafe had a lovely inviting and charming atmosphere. Retro-European decor with subtle mood lighting and calming background music. Worth seeking out over the more obvious cafes jostling for trade in the square. Frequented by locals also - always a good sign!

We often travel to nearby Skipton and Colne, so making a trip to Barnoldswick is a must so that we can visit this delightful little cafe. There is premium outdoor seating - and so well positioned. Some steps down into the cafe may limit some access. Once inside, a good selection of goodies awaits, with various beverages being available too. Foods offered range from toasties, sandwiches, scones and tray bakes. Service is friendly and efficient, nothing is too much trouble. Several tables are available and business is brisk, suggesting that this cafe is popular with locals and ourselves. One toilet is available, close to the seating area, but is soundproofed!! Our 220 mile round trip is always topped by the visit here. I can thoroughly recommend this cafe, it is a delight. Thank you for providing such a good facility.

A charming little cafe it may seem, but a facade and nothing more. For an establishment that advertises the sale of good coffee and good service, I received neither. I went in for lunch, but received a snack. My cappuccino was not very warm- Lukewarm at best- and sadly to say, it was finished by the time my food had arrived. The food in question was a bacon sandwich. Yum I think not! With only one and a half rashes I was left disappointed and even then it wasn't very satisfactory for it was chewy and cold. The service was meagre with a lackadaisical staff. The tables are too small, indeed they offered to make room by taking away my coffee before I had even finished it! If there was a consumer right enabling you to leave without paying the bill, I would most certainly have invoked it here! Overall, it was not worth the money I paid and would never go here again.

Visited Barlick to day to call at bank and do a bit of shopping with our grandson. Sadly Victorias was fully booked (we never learn). Decided to go to café Julias where we once had a coffee and cake. Would have had soup but it was tomato which I do not like though it so frequently appears on menus most people must like it. I opted for a bacon and egg sandwich and latte. The latter was served quite some time before my food. There were only another couple of older ladies in. They were having an animated discussion about the merits of the local Council care home. Not a particularly jolly conversation. Another couple came in but left some 5 minutes later. Whether their departure was due to the lack of attention to them by the two staff, or the somewhat depressing conversation going on at the next table is anyones guess. My sandwich eventually arrived, served on a cake plate with a pronounced convex base. It constantly rocked about all the time I was using my knife and fork. The bacon had a consistency resembling a chewable plastic. I recalled Charlie Chaplin eating his boots in 'The Gold Rush', and was certainly not going to be outdone by him. The egg was probably not free range, or at least not from where we buy ours (Helmshore hen pens, the best eggs in the North). The tea- cake (bap/ oven bottom for those not from these parts) wasn't too good either.Once in the mouth it took on the form of a damp and soft cardboard product which adhered itself to the roof of my mouth. The latte was quite acceptable, hence my 2 star marking. Unfortunately I had drunk it by the time my butty arrived. I would have appreciated it to help me swallow the food. Sadly not a good experience. I am afraid it takes much, much more than some Parisian prints and a few fairy lights to earn 5 stars from me. The two ladies were sort of pleasant enough but showed little interest in ensuring one was having an enjoyable experience. They seemed most concerned with conversing between themselves. Oh how we miss the real charm of the long closed- down Artisan cafe in Burnley, We remember the soft background music.. Despite their limited facilities they could rustle-up a lovely snack, we also recall the gingham tablecloths, the freshly laundered napkins, the lovely miss-matched china, and lastly the two most charming young ladies who ran it so efficiently. The proprietor and her colleague could do worse than to visit the café in Worsthorne, or the one in the Church at Hurstw ood (Sundays only) to see how it should be done.Sorry ladies, but will make sure that we book a table in advance at Victorias in future.

We went here when passing through Barnoldswick on a canal holiday. We were recommended Cafe Julia by a local who promised we would have the best Coffee and Cake in town, we were not dissapointed. Not only was this the best Coffee we had had in a long time, but the selection of cakes that are all made by Julia (we asked!) is fanatastic and the portions were amazing. The cafe is warm and welcoming, everything looks nice and clean and tidy, and the staff were attentive and nothing seemed too much trouble. We returned for lunch a few days later and the home made soup was lovely and chunky, followed by a wonderful fresh from the oven veggie quiche with a hearty jacket potato that came with a salad and optional dressing. We again couldn't resist the cake and had a piece each, one chocolate one lemon drizzle, both melted in the mouth. The prices are just as amazing as the food so we bought cake to take away too! We will return when passing next as its not often we find a place so welcoming and unique. A real supprise and something really different we did not expect to find. Venture out of the square, it's well worth the 30 second walk round the corner. Thankyou, a highlight of our time in the North!

In all fairness, we obviously arrived at a bad time. There seemed to be staffing problems and stress going on behind the counter, although they were doing their best. The atmosphere made me aware of how gloomy and cluttered and cavelike the cafe is - no windows! Also, the floor is grungy. However, the food was OK - chicken pate was good with nice granary toast and real butter. It came with a good portion of chutney and a decent salad - lots of ingredients. My partner's soup was 'just soup' but he enjoyed the crusty bread and real butter. It's also very good value for money. I might eat outside another time, but I wouldn't venture into the inside again.

Cafe Julie was recommended to us by one of the shopkeepers in Barnoldswick so my wife & I thought we'd give it a try. Service was both cheery & quick. My wife (who has a gluten-free diet) was catered for personally with a toasted sandwich & salad, whilst I had a very tasty Lancashire cheese & chutney sandwich, followed by a huge slice of Victoria sponge cake. Tea was excellent & coffee very tasty. The cafe was impeccably clean & quaintly furnished. The only reason it doesn't achieve five stars from me is because I found it rather dingy inside. The roof is quite low & there are no windows in the dining area. I know you can only work with what you have with regards to a building but it did feel a little dungeon-like & closed in. But as for the hearty welcome, the food & the service we couldn't fault it at all.

We decided to go here after spotting it whilst walking around Barnoldswick, what a gem, when we arrived there were no available tables inside so we sat outside by a lavender plant which smelt heavenly, we had scones, tea and coffee, the hottest cappuccino my husband reckons he's ever had, in fact we enjoyed it so much we went back for a hot drink a couple of hours later. The two ladies were so friendly and the food home cooked, another gem for us to return to in the future.

My wife and I had just completed another leg of our Leeds Liverpool canal walk which ended up in Barlick (locals name for Barnoldswick) and were gagging for a cuppa. Not many of the shops were open so we assumed it was half day closing, a very civilised concept beyond most people today who are used to shopping at very uncivilised ours of the day and night. We were slightly concerned that the much needed reviving brew would prove elusive but were equally relieved to happen upon Cafe Julia and the delights within, the main one being what we assumed to be Julia herself. We had intended to simply order a drink but the cakes on display were too tempting. One chocolate and one orange were duly ordered along with a pot of tea for two. Cue wide eyed amazement as the cakes arrived. To say the portions were generous would be an understatement, they were huge. Julia said that she didn't think the original slice of chocolate cake she cut didn't seem big enough so she added an extra portion. I have often found that size and quality rarely equate but in this case they do, the cakes were absolutely stunning. So two large and beautiful cakes and a pot of tea which could have served four people. Seven or eight pounds? No, £5.50. Bargain of a lifetime. We are thinking that the next leg of our walk will have to be done in reverse so that we end up in Barlick again.

Needed something to do whilst my girlfriend was having her hair done. After a walk around the square i stumbled upon cafe julia. Was warmly greeting as i walked in, ordered a coffee and was told to sit down and it would be bought over to me. Very small place, without the need to shout if you get what i mean! £1.75 for an americano is a great price compared to the big coffee shops, at which you don't get the friendly service. Keep these little businesses going

Visited in late October on a lovely sunny day which really painted this pubs beautiful location in a perfect light. We are from the Midlands visiting family who are local and we all received a lovely warm welcome. The pub is lovingly decorated with great views over the local countryside. The staff were attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu options. The food itself was plentiful, tasty and well presented. Additional top marks to the owner who went the extra mile to look after a member of our party who unfortunately was taken suddenly unwell, thank you. We will definitely visit again when back in the area.
