Having mixed up the dates of our visit to Northumberland we found we'd arrived a day too early for our Airbnb booking Thank goodness we found The Old Storehouse - the room, food and staff were fantastic and the price for B & B was a far better deal than the Airbnb we'd booked for the following 4 nights! Loved the rear access to the downstairs rooms at the back. We wished we could have stayed here for the whole of our visit.

Great place to stay. Wonderful friendly welcome and small issue we had with the room immediately sorted out with a upgrade! Laura continued to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed throughout our stay and we were really comfortable. This isn't the poshest hotel in the world, but great value for money. We turned up on bicycles and were made very welcome and perfect for cyclists/walkers. Breakfast was immense and we wouldn't hesitate to stay again! Many thanks !

We found the Bait Box at the Black Bull by chance - and were very glad we did. Helen's soups were absolutely perfect! Between us we tried the potato and leek soup, and the carrot and coriander. The stottie sandwiches were spot-on too. All with served with a cheerful smile. Thanks Helen. We'll be back for more.

We were looking for a restaurant that served fresh, home cooked style meals since we had been eating restaurant style food for the past week while on holiday here. This place did not disappoint. The food was amazing, the staff friendly and the decor is beautiful! Highly recommend the warm Mediterranean salad with chicken.

We stayed at The Oaks with our spaniel for one night on our way to the Borders. Our room was clean with lovely decor and perfect for a dog. We could walk straight out into the courtyard whenever our dog needed to go out without having to walk through the pub/hotel. Our Sunday roast was delicious, a must if you come to eat, and our breakfast was spot on too, you can have a great full English and there’s plenty cereals, fruit, pastries and more. The hotel is perfectly located for a stroll into Alnwick, you’re literally round the corner from Barter Books and a dog friendly park. The reason we’ll be back though is that the staff are so friendly and genuinely enjoy having dogs around. They make you feel relaxed and very welcome. They are not dog tolerant, they are truly dog friendly.

We ate here twice, once for n evening meal and the other for Sunday lunch. The evening meal was pretty ordinary for us both. The Sunday lunch sadly was the same. The roast beef was woefully overcooked for the lunch, so much so it just crumbled, and the chips for the evening were amongst the blandest I've ever eaten. The experience was a big let down for us as we ate here a few years ago and it was a treat, hence going back. I'm not sure we would visit again based on the last one. No issues with the staff as all were friendly and polite, just a shame about the food.

Millie was our hostess, and she couldn’t have been any kinder! She anticipated our every need before we even knew we what we needed!!! So helpful and attentive! The food was delicious and the extra gravy came without a hitch! Would 100% recommend the Snowy Owl and Mollie!!

Came here for our Sunday dinner while on holiday in Seahouses. Ashley met us in the bar area and took us to our spacious table for us and our 2 dogs. We both ordered the topside from the Sunday roast menu, our portion was huge with lots of veg and potatoes and meat was cooked to our liking. We both had desert which were also lovely. Great service and chat from Ashley throughout our meal. Definitely recommend a visit here and will return when back in the area.

The Hogs Head at Alnwick is certainly welcoming, very swept up check in on a screen, by the bar. Very good sized rooms that feel welcoming and are comfortable, tea tray, bath and shower and good towels. Nice touch with a box of treats for our dog. Outside has lots of seating for better weather, good areas to walk and exercise dogs and a play area for children. The bar restaurant area is well set out. Dogs can be taken in to a part of the restaurant without owners feeling out of sight. The menu has some good choices at fair prices. Service is okay. Our 2nd night dinner was a bit of a fiasco. Main course didn't before dessert, but did arrive after an hour. Dessert was not great. Pannacotta should be set and sticky toffee pud hot, without overcooked crunchy sides. However, on speaking with management about dinner afterwards, a refund was given. There is a buffet breakfast included in B&B, but also a separate breakfast menu for additional cost. Plenty of choice. Filter coffee and cold milk is served, if like me, you drink milky coffee it's extra. Worth it as it was delicious. We had 2 nights here and slept well in the large comfortable bed. The whole place is spotlessly clean. Staff are cheerful and helpful, and remained so even when incredibly busy. We would stay again.

We have been here a few times and never disappoints. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The food was lovely. Staff was apologetic for the wait for the food coming out of the kitchen. We were made aware as soon as we ordered our food there would be a bit of wait for food.

The worst fish lunch ever chips just scraps fish small soggy and very greasy swear it was animal fat although there's no sign telling you what they fry in. poor system you've got to shout at the person frying to put your order in not that they can hear you so when you get to front of long cue your order not ready . nothing like it used to be will not return
